The differences and incongruities between the re-imposition of a full movement control order (MCO) on eight states and territories, namely Penang, Selangor, Malacca, Johor, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur Putrajaya and Labuan; conditional MCO on another six states namely Pahang, Perak, Negri Sembilan, Kedah,Terengganu and Kelantan and the continuation of recovery MCO on two states namely Perlis and Sarawak for two weeks from January 13-26 as announced by the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday and today’s proclamation of emergency until August 1 raises many questions.

Malaysians are entitled to know the Covid-19 status of all Cabinet Ministers

Two Cabinet Ministers have been tested positive for Covid-19 and have been hospitalised – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Mustapa Mohamed and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun.
Mustapa received his positive test result on Saturday evening and had since been taken to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu, Kelantan for treatment.
Rina was tested at the Putrajaya Health Clinic yesterday morning, received her result last night, and has been warded at the Sungai Buloh Hospital since earlier this morning. Read the rest of this entry »

UMNO, Bersatu and PAS have failed to form a stable government as the Malay Unity rhetoric has proved to be a false promise for Malaysia.
If I had made this statement, it would be taken as proof of the allegation that I am anti-Malay and anti-Islam, but this was stated by Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, the President of Warisan and former Sabah Chief Minister, at the recent Regional Outlook Forum 2021, hosted by the ISEAS–Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore last Thursday.

If the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin is right that Malaysia is set to achieve herd immunity in 18 months against Covid-19 from February after the arrival of the first batch of the initial Covid-19 vaccine supply, we will only be out of the woods of the Covid-19 pandemic in July 2022.
Yet UMNO wants to have the 15th General Election by the end of the first quarter of 2021!

The Ministry of Health has answered my question as to whether Malaysia will overtake Philippines and become the second country in ASEAN after Indonesia in having the most cumulative total of Covid-19 cases.

Is anyone surprised by the deafening silence of the government parties, in particular the trio of Bersatu, UMNO and PAS to the proposal of an all-party conference to save Malaysia from the two great problems of 2021 – the Covid-19 pandemic and corruption?
I am not surprised, for it is precisely because the Perikatan Nasional coalition government had failed in these two areas in 2020 that Malaysia is facing a crisis of losing control of the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, registering yesterday a record-high daily increase of 3,027 new Covid-19 cases with eight deaths, bringing the cumulative total of Covid-19 cases to 128,465 and Covid-19 fatalities to 521. The refusal of the Muhyiddin Cabinet to summon a Special Parliament to address Malaysia’s losing control of the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic is the height of irresponsibility of a kakistocracy.
It is accompanied by the failure of the government for the last ten months to launch an “all-of-government” and “whole-of-society” strategy and approach to save lives and livelihoods in the pandemic.and to plan for a quick and sustainable post-pandemic economic and national recovery for the country. Yesterday Malaysia reported another 1,741 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total to 120,818 cases. The death toll from the pandemic has also crossed the 500 mark to 501.
The Heath Director-General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the Health Ministry is mulling to allow Covid-19 patients who are asymptomatic to be quarantined at home as its bed capacity at government facilities is reaching the limit of 23,000.
Currently, there are 22,089 active Covid-19 cases, with the country witnessing a high number of cases daily.

There has been another avoidable death in Malaysia, when a 31-year-old Grab Food delivery rider in Mutiara Damansara hit a pothole at Jalan PJU 7/2 yesterday, causing him to lose control of his bike before crashing on the side of the road.
The previous morning, a 75-year-old man was found dead at the site of a motor-cycle accident linked to a pothole along Jalan Tengah in Kuala Lumpur. Read the rest of this entry »

We entered the New Year with the Covid-19 pandemic raging its worst stage in Malaysia and the world, registering on the last day of 2020 a record-high daily increase in Malaysia of 2,525 new Covid-19 cases, while the world registers a record-high daily increase of over 740,000 new Covid-19 cases.

In his interview with China Press, former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad said: “I had helped the opposition to win (in GE14) because I brought in Malay support. You know DAP, which could never get more than 18 seats, get 42 seats because of the Malay support I brought in”.
