It was kakistocracy in Malaysia at its worst – with three examples yesterday especially assigning observers to tellers during parliamentary division voting which is a declaration that Members of Parliament in Malaysia cannot be trusted to carry out simple tasks.

It was kakistocracy in Malaysia at its worst – with three examples yesterday especially assigning observers to tellers during parliamentary division voting which is a declaration that Members of Parliament in Malaysia cannot be trusted to carry out simple tasks.

This assignment must be the first of its kind in Commonwealth Parliaments but it sends out the wrong messages, firstly, that MPs cannot be depended upon to carry out simple tasks; and secondly, which is more serious, that MPs cannot be trusted at all! Read the rest of this entry »

Call on Muhyiddin Cabinet to extend Parliament meeting by another day to allow 2019 Suhakam annual report to be debated to prove that it is not a kakistocracy afraid of human rights issues

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I call on the Muhyiddin Cabinet to extend Parliament meeting by another day to allow the 2019 Suhakam annual report to be debated to prove that it is not a kakistocracy afraid of human rights issue, as well as to debate various motions to refer Members of Parliament to the Privileges Committee for their breaches of parliamentary privileges in the current meeting.

It would be most unfortunate if the country is wedged between a kleptocracy until May 9, 2018 general election and the kakistocracy resulting from the “Sheraton Move” plot in February 2020 which toppled the Pakatan Harapan Government which had tried to shake Malaysia off from the trajectory of a failed state, kleptocracy and kakistocracy. 2020 has been shameful year for Malaysian Parliament as it repeatedly put the clock of parliamentary scrutiny of the Executive back instead of going forward like other Commonwealth Parliaments in parliamentary reforms

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The year 2020 has proved to be a shameful year for the Malaysian Parliament as it repeatedly put the clock of parliamentary scrutiny of the Executive back instead of going forwards like other Commonwealth Parliaments in parliamentary reforms.

Yesterday alone, there were four incidents which should make responsible and reform-minded Parliamentarians hold their heads in shame. Read the rest of this entry »

Height of parliamentary irresponsibility for Khairuddin to be in Parliament, not to reply on his Ministry’s allocation in the 2021 Budget but to vote

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

It is the height of parliamentary irresponsibility for Khairuddin Aman Razali, the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, to be in Parliament yet did not reply in the debate on his Ministry’s allocation in the 2021 Budget but only come into the Chamber to vote when a Division was called on his Ministry’s allocations.

This is the most irresponsible behaviour of a Minister in Parliament in the six decades of Malaysian Parliament where a Minister dare not face the MPs to answer criticisms about his Ministry, but only to vote. Read the rest of this entry »

Shahbudin Yahya should be suspended as MP as he has violated the Standing Orders and brought shame and infamy to Parliament

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The MP for Tasek Glugor Shahbudin Yahya should be suspended as MP as he has violated the Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders and brought shame and infamy to Parliament for violating the Parliamentary Standing Orders.

Shahbudin is the latest example of a regime of kakistocracy where the worst elements have taken over the leadership of the country. Read the rest of this entry »

Let Veveonah Mosibin be Malaysia’s Greta Thunberg to inspire youths in Malaysia and the world to spearhead change to eliminate digital poverty — time to empower the millennials in Malaysia

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I had suggested that the Federal and Sabah state governments should set up a task force headed by Veveonah Mosibin to immediately conduct a survey in Sabah to ensure that having to spend 24 hours on a tree top or causing the collapse of suspension bridge in the Sabah interior for youths to get better Internet access for their education would be a thing of the past.

I said Malaysia will make world news if the RM81.5 million earmarked for revival of the propaganda unit known as the Special Affairs Department (JASA) in the 2021 Budget is switched to fund the Federal-State Government Task Force headed by 18-year-old Veveonah Mosibin to resolve the kinks in Internet access in all the remote kampungs in Sabah interior to facilitate online education during the Covid-19 epidemic. Is the MACC satisfied with the Global Corruption Barometer Asia 2020 findings that 71% of Malaysians think that government corruption is a big problem while 39% of Malaysians think corruption has increased in the previous 12 months?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Transparency International released its Global Corruption Barometer Asia 2020 four days ago, but there has been thunderous silence from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on its findings.

In June, 18-year old lass from Kampung Sapatalang, Pitas, Veveonah Mosibin had to spend 24 hours on a tree-top to get better Internet connectivity to sit for an online examination.

On Monday night, a rickety suspension bridge in Kampung Gusi, Ranau, collapsed when eight students crowded on it as it was one of the few spots in the kampong with better Internet access, and a 16-year-old girl broke her bones in her thigh and shin and while a boy suffered spinal injuries, while the rest reported light injuries. I welcome the storm of protest over the 2021 Budget vote in Parliament yesterday as it is the surest sign that the quest for a New Malaysia is still very much alive. I see the protests in a very positive light.

Even my former political secretary, Dyana Sofya, protested as well as other DAP leaders, including the DAP Malacca Ayer Keroh Assemblyman Kerk Chee Yee and the Selangor Subang Jaya State Assemblywoman Michelle Ng.

Will the 2021 Budget be rejected tomorrow and will Muhyiddin be toppled becoming the shortest Prime Minister in Malaysian history?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Tomorrow is supposed to be the D-Day for two questions: Will the 2021 Budget be rejected tomorrow and will Muhyiddin Yassin be toppled becoming the shortest Prime Minister in Malaysian history.

It is uncertain whether there will be a vote on the second reading of the 2021 Budget tomorrow as there is talk that the vote, scheduled for tomorrow may be delayed till the following week.

Be that as it may, powerful political forces have been released over the voting on the 2021 Budget, as evidenced by the most extraordinary joint statement by Ministers and Deputy Ministers declaring full support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin’s leadership until fresh general election can be held because of the Covid-19 epidemic. Will Saifuddin Abdullah come clean in Parliament during the winding-up tomorrow to admit that the 2018 ICERD fiasco was solely his own making when he was Foreign Minister in Pakatan Harapan Government and that DAP knew nothing about the proposed ICERD ratification although DAP was the target of demonization for being anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Royalty?

Will UMNO MPs split into two factions with one voting against the 2021 Budget and toppling the Muhyiddin government?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Political pundits and cognoscentis are following closely the political scenario to see whether the 38 UMNO Members of Parliament will split into two factions, with one faction voting against the 2021 Budget during the Second Reading on Thursday and toppling the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government of Muhyiddin Yassin.

The views of one faction were articulated by the former Prime Minister, Najib Razak in his maiden speech as the new Chairman of the Barisan Nasional (BN) Backbenchers’ Club expressing conditional support for next year’s Budget. Read the rest of this entry »

Muhyiddin should have asked Parliament for a consensus to amend the relevant laws to suspend Batu Sapi by-election in view of Covid-19 epidemic instead of asking the Yang di Pertuan Agong to declare an emergency in Batu Sapi to suspend the by-election

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, should have asked Parliament for a consensus to amend the relevant laws to suspend the Batu Sapi parliamentary by-election on Dec. 5 in view of Covid-19 pandemic instead of asking the Yang di Pertuan Agong to declare an emergency in Batu Sapi to suspend the by-election.

The Election Commission announced the nomination and polling dates for the Batu Sapi by-election on 13th October, which means that the Muhyiddin government had 41 days to ask Parliament to amend the Constitution and the relevant election laws to suspend the Batu Sapi parliamentary by-election before Nomination on Nov. 23 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Parliament should invoke Standing Order 77(1)(d) for the Public Accounts Committee to investigate the 1MDB scandal where both Najib and Jho Low can testify

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

For the past month, Malaysia had been haunted by the 1MDB financial scandal – with Goldman Sachs pleading guilty in the United States to violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in the 1MDB scandal, “a massive global scheme to loot billions dollars” from Malaysians, and the 2021 Budget debate in the Dewan Rakyat where the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak soiled and stained Parliament for 90 minutes when he spoke as Barisan Nasional Backbenchers’ Club Chairman without explaining his role as “Malaysian Official 1 (MO1)” which plunged the country into unprecedented infamy, ignominy and iniquity.

Najib was convicted on July 28 in the first of a series of 1MDB-related charges of corruption, money-laundering and abuse of power and sentenced to 12 years’ jail and RM210 million fine.

Will Muhyiddin remain as Prime Minister next Thursday on 26th November 2020?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Will Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin remain as the eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia next Thursday on 26th November or will he become the shortest Prime Minister in the history of Malaysia?

He will not be Prime Minister next Thursday if the 2021 Budget is defeated in the second reading vote in Parliament, expected on Wednesday 25th November 2020.

Yet he does not seem to be doing anything to ensure that the 2021 Budget is passed although the Opposition Members of Parliament are mindful of the advice of the Yang di Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers that in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysians must show unprecedented unity to get the 2021 Budget passed. Dare Minister for Communications and Multimedia Saifuddin Abdullah say that the purpose of reviving JASA is to undo its previous two-prong campaign to demonize the DAP and to glamorize Najib’s 1MDB scandal, and if not, would he come out openly to oppose JASA’s revival

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Dare the Minister for Communications and Multimedia, Saifuddin Abdullah, say that the purpose of reviving the Special Affairs Department (JASA) is to undo its previous two-prong campaign to demonise the DAP and to glamorize Najib Razak’s 1MDB scandal, and if not, would he come out openly to oppose JASA’s revival?

When Mohd Puad Zarkashi was director-general of JASA, his salary was more than the then Minister for Communications and Multimedia although JASA was parked under the Ministry for Communications and Multimedia, but Puad was not answerable to the Minister concerned as he reported directly to the Prime Minister.

Puad spent RM100 million of JASA budget to demonise DAP and “beautify” the 1MDB scandal but the efforts were a big flop as shown by the result of the 14th General Election

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

As Director-General of Special Affairs Department (JASA) from 2015 to 2018, Mohd Puad Zarkashi spent RM100 million of JASA budget to demonise DAP as anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Royalty and communist and went overseas to “beautify the 1MDB scandal” particularly among Malaysian students overseas, but it was a big flop evident from the outcome of the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018.

But in the two years after the 14th General Election, hundreds of millions of ringgit were again found and used to fund UMNO cyber operations to continue to paint the DAP as anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Royalty and communist, and it must be conceded that these efforts to spread lies and falsehoods about the DAP were more successful this time than Puad’s efforts as JASA director-general using RM100 million of public funds.
