The stage is set for a showdown on Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister when the Sabah state general election is over this Saturday.
Muhyiddin has turned the Sabah state general election into a forerunner of the 15th general election when he said in Kota Belud yesterday that if the Perikatan Nasional (PN)-BN-PBS alliance was to win in the coming Sabah state election, a snap general would not be far away.

At the launching of the UMNO and BN manifesto Aku Janji, the foul-mouthed Bung Mohtar who is notorious for desecrating Parliament with four-lettered words and despicable utterances particularly against women, said UMNO and BN have changed because they want the people to support them.

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, knows his days as Prime Minister may be numbered and he has produced his counter stroke – snap 15th General Election in Malaysia if the PN-BN-PBS alliance win the Sabah state general election.
UMNO has been pressing for snap general election in Malaysia for it believes that with the Muafakat Nasional which it has formed with PAS, it was in a good position not only to recapture power in Malaysia and restore an UMNO Prime Minister but to win big even with a more than two-thirds parliamentary majority.

I am most shocked that the Chairman of Sabah UMNO and one of the aspirants to be the next Sabah Chief Minister, Bung Mokhtar Radin, has great objection to the “In God we Trust, United We Must” slogan on the Shafie Apdal billboards which are put up all over Sabah.
This is most sad and tragic, especially when we are in the midst of the Golden Jubilee of the five Rukun Negara principles as the basis of nation-building for Sabah and Malaysia.
If the Malaysian Government had fully complied with the five Rukun Negara principles in the nation building of Malaysia, Sabah will not continue to be discriminated against until we have the shocking phenomenon of one of the richest states in the country where the poverty rate is the highest in all states – as Sabah’s poverty rate is even higher than Kelantan! Firstly, for having the most number of candidates, 447candidates for 73 seats, with one seat facing a 11-cornered fight, one-seat a 10-cornered fight, three seats nine-cornered, five seats eight-cornered, 13 seats seven-cornered, 26 seats six-cornered and 15 seats five-cornered fights.
Secondly, with the most number of political frogs in the fray, whose golden moment will come when they can demand their highest price – whether monetary or political position – if the outcome of the Sabah general election is a dumb one with no political group with a clear majority to form the State Government. Just now, I made a proposal affecting the national level – that every Minister should declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or he or she should resign as a Cabinet Minister forthwith.
Now, I wish to make a second proposal which primarily concerns Sabah.
On the occasion of the Malaysia Day, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be attending a Malaysia Day commemoration event entitled “Demi Mempertahankan Hak Kita” at Batu Sumpah, Keningau.
For close to half a century, except for one or two Sabah politicians, the Keningau Batu Sumpah had been completely forgotten whether by national or Sabah leaders, until I visited Keningau in March 2010 together with two DAP MPs, Teo Nie Ching and Lim Lip Eng and the then lone Sabah State Assemblyman Jimmy Wong. On this day, I will like to make a proposal to make the Malaysia Day meaningful and purposeful in contributing to the building of an united Malaysian nation out of our diverse races, languages, religions and cultures.
I call on every Cabinet Minister to declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or his/her Cabinet position should be vacated.
I do not know whether every Cabinet Minister in the Muhyiddin government is prepared to make such a declaration of unequivocal support of the five Rukun Negara principles but the present Muhyiddin Cabinet appears to be the weakest Cabinet in support or the five Rukun Negara principles. Sabah has achieved a dubious record of having a total of 447 candidates from 16 political parties and 56 independents to contest the 16th Sabah election
There were multi-cornered fights in all the seats, the lowest being three-way battles and highest with 11 candidates vying for one seat, the Bengkoka seat in the Kudat parliamentary area.
Among others, there are 15 five-way battles, 26 six-way battles, 13 seven-way battles, six eight-cornered fights and three nine-cornered ones.
This is not only a record for Malaysia, Sabah can also enter into the Guinness Book of Records for the international arena although this is not an achievement to be proud about. Read the rest of this entry »

The Sabah general election on September 26 is a battle between conviction politics versus money politics, between vision and principles versus self-interests and the “frog” political culture.
Just now, the Elopura candidate for Warison and the incumbent DAP State Assemblyman for the area, Calvin Chong, spoke of his vision for Sandakan and among the things he want to see is an university in Sandakan.
This reminds me of my call for an university for Sabah some 30 years ago when nobody had advocated it, and now we have a Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in Kota Kinabalu.
The time has come for a second university in Sabah and Sandakan is the appropriate place for the second Sabah university to be placed. Read the rest of this entry »

Malaysiakini reported that there are conflicting claims surrounding the status of Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali, who is being investigated for not adhering to the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) after returning from abroad.
Highly-placed sources informed Malaysiakini the PAS leader is on leave pending the outcome of the probe and this was conveyed to the cabinet last week.
However, this has been denied by the Minister’s aide, Muhammad Faudzi Jalil, who said it was business as usual for his boss.

I first came to Sabah on that fateful day on May 13, 1969 to assist the independent candidate for Kota Kinabalu in the 1969 General Election, and was to go on to
Sandakan and Tawau to help the independent candidates in these two places.
I left Kuala Lumpur in the morning of May 13, 1969 and I first heard of troubles in Kuala Lumpur in a public rally in Kota Kinabalu later the same evening – yet I have been accused down the decades of having caused the May 13 riots and having led the illegal processions in the streets of Kuala Lumpur during the May 13 riots. In actual fact, I was never in KL during the May 13, 1969 riots.
Just like the lie that I am a communist, which was first levelled against me in 2008 – more than 40 years after my political activities and although the communists wanted to defeat me in the 1969 general election – these are lies, falsehoods, fake news and misinformation which we have to contend in our political work, just as many lies, falsehoods, fake news and misinformation have surfaced in the Sabah general election. Would the 66th PAS National Delegates Assembly have ignored PAS Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, Khairuddin Aman Razali’s violation of Covid 19 quarantine SOP when he returned from Turkey on July 7, if he had not donated RM50,000 to his party?
This is a question many are asking.
Khairuddin’s donation was announced by the PAS Assembly permanent chairperson Husin Ismail after the PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang’s speech.
Political analysts had expected the PAS Assembly to touch on the Khairuddin episode and the issue of the performance of the PAS ministers in the Perikatan Nasional administration thus far, as currently, people do not have confidence in the abilities of PAS Ministers in the Cabinet, as UMNO Ministers and Deputy Ministers were seen as performing better.

In a tweet this afternoon, the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said that the cabinet discussed the issue of Sabahan student Veveonah Mosibin and came to the conclusion that the statements by two deputy ministers, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin and Deputy Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Bakri, were incorrect and inappropriate.
Is “taking note” all that the Muhyiddin Cabinet could do about the disgraceful mis-conduct of the two Deputy Ministers, both of whom publicly lied about the Veveonah incident, and one of whom even lied in Senate? Read the rest of this entry »
