PBS may as well close shop if it is to give away Tambunan, its sacred founding place, and concede that STAR has more influence in Tambunan than PBS

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I was shocked and even somewhat angry to learn that PBS had given away Tambunan, its sacred founding place in 1985, and conceded that STAR has more influence in Tambunan than PBS in a truce agreement this afternoon arranged by the Home Minister, Hamzah Zainuddin.

I am not a member of PBS, but in 1985 and 1986, I had spoken up in Parliament and outside in support and defence of PBS, and at that time, Tambunan assumed national fame and importance as the place where ordinary voters stood up against injustice and oppression.

How can PBS give away its sacred founding place? Read the rest of this entry »

As both the Pairin brothers have accused each other of selling out KDM interests on the issue of illegal immigrants, does the partial truce between PBS and Star mean that they now agree that both have betrayed the KDM constituencies?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

With four days to go to polling, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) have finally reached a partial truce beginning in at least two state seats.

As both the Pairin brothers , Joseph and Jeffrey, have accused each other of selling out KDM (Kadazan, Dusun and Murut) interests on the issue of illegal immigrants, does the partial truce between PBS and Star mean that they now agree that they have both betrayed the KDM constituencies?

The second question is equally intriguing.

Hamzah Zainuddin should be sacked as Home Minster if he had threatened that he would not take action against illegal immigrants if Wilfred Tangau is not defeated and PBS Information chief Joniston not re-elected in Kiulu

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin should be sacked as Home Minister if he had threatened that he would not take action against the illegal immigrants if Wilfred Tangau, the chairman of UPKO, is not defeated and the PBS Information chief, Joniston Bangkuai not re-elected in Kiulu State Assembly seat in the Sabah state general election.

To be fair to Hamzah, the Home Minister should be given a chance to clarify the matter.

But the question is whether the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, would dare to sack Hamzah, who is also the Bersatu secretary-general, considering the precarious political position of the Prime Minister, who is hanging on to the Prime Minister’s office for dear life. Will I now be accused of being a champion of the illegal immigrants because I campaigned for DAP leader and Warisan candidate Peter Saili in Bingkor just as I was accused of having caused May 13, 1969 riots in Kuala Lumpur although I was in Sabah at the time?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The first time I visited Sabah was on that fateful day on May 13, 1969, and down the decades for some 50 years, I had been accused of having caused the May 13, 1969 riots in Kuala Lumpur and led illegal processions through the streets of Kuala Lumpur although I was in Sabah and was never in Kuala Lumpur at the time.

I was speaking at an unprecedentedly huge public rally in Kota Kinabalu on the evening of May 13, 1969 when somebody whispered to me from the backstage that trouble had broken out in Kuala Lumpur – that was the first time I heard about the May 13, 1969 riots in Kuala Lumpur.

At the Kota Kinabalu public rally, I criticised the authoritarian ways of the then Sabah Chief Minister, Tun Mustapha and he issued an expulsion order for me to leave Sabah the next morning.

Youth is a state of mind – urgent need to unite Malaysians irrespective of age, gender, race, religion or geography to build a New Sabah and a New Malaysia

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

First of all, let me congratulate Syed Saddiq for showing the way that Malaysia needs new thinking, that we must be colour-blind and cannot be bound by narrow views about nation-building, that we cannot and should not imprison ourselves by racial or religious exclusivity.

Syed Saddiq is forming a political party of youths.

But youth is a state of mind. There are young people who have very old thinking and old people with very youthful ideas.

Youth therefore cannot be defined by chronological age. Read the rest of this entry »

Cabinet on Wednesday should place Keningau Batu Sumpah and its three commitments on religious freedom, land and adat istiadat of Orang Asal on the agenda of the new Special Committee on MA63

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The solar power system for Tamu Sangadau in Kepayan is evidence of the DAP and Warisan Plus’ commitment to help the ordinary people in the country.

It was yesterday revealed that according to the Statistics Department, Sabah has the highest poverty rate in the country last year at 19.5 per cent when the national poverty rate was only 5.6%, and that about 40 per cent of the indigenous people in the State are poor or below the Poverty Line Income (PGK).

Tongod, Pitas and Kota Marudu are among the poorest districts in the country with poverty at about 50 per cent.

Women in Sabah and Malaysia should rise up to demand apology and accountability from Bung Moktar for his insults and attacks on the dignity and role of women in Malaysia

Women in Sabah and Malaysia should rise up to demand apology and accountability from Bung Moktar for his insults and attacks on the dignity and role of women in Malaysia – Bung’s greatest contribution in his 21 years in Parliament – as Sabah UMNO wants him to be Sabah Chief Minister.

I said in Kepayan last night that Sabahans will not be able to lift their heads high, whether in Malaysia or anywhere else in the world if foul-mouth Bung Moktar, who even uses four-letter words in Parliament and was most well known for his utterances which insult the dignity of women in Parliament, becomes Sabah Chief Minister.

DAP women Members of Parliament have been at the receiving end of Bung Moktar’s insults against womenhood in Malaysia.

Before Bung Moktar continues to be UMNO candidate for Sabah Chief Minister, let him account for his past parliamentary actions and mistakes, in particular for his insults against womanhood in Malaysia.

Sabahans will not be able to lift their heads high whether in Malaysia or anywhere in the world if foul-mouthed Bung Moktar unabashedly spitting out four-letter words becomes the Sabah Chief Minister

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Sabah UMNO wants its Chairman, Bung Moktar Radin to be the next Chief Minister of Sabah.

The people of Sabah will not be able to lift their heads high whether in Malaysia or
anywhere in the world if foul-mouthed Bung Moktar Radin unabashedly spitting out four-letter words becomes the Sabah Chief Minister.

Bung Moktar has asked the people of Sabah to give UMNO a chance as UMNO and BN have changed and are committed to a fairer, transparent and trustworthy administration. Read the rest of this entry »

Stage is set for a showdown on Muhyiddin as Prime Minister when Sabah general election is over on Saturday

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The stage is set for a showdown on Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister when the Sabah state general election is over this Saturday.

Muhyiddin has turned the Sabah state general election into a forerunner of the 15th general election when he said in Kota Belud yesterday that if the Perikatan Nasional (PN)-BN-PBS alliance was to win in the coming Sabah state election, a snap general would not be far away.

The Sabah general election is a result of a Bersatu plot that went wrong, for the political “frogs” who backed the former Chief Minister, Musa Aman, did so to capture the Sabah state government and not to precipitate a Sabah General Election. Read the rest of this entry »

UMNO would only have changed if it fights for all Malaysians and not just for one race, condemns 1MDB scandal, corruption and abuses of power in all forms

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Sabah UMNO leader Bung Moktar Radin has asked the people of Sabah to give UMNO a chance as UMNO and BN have changed and are committed to a fairer, transparent and trustworthy administration.

At the launching of the UMNO and BN manifesto Aku Janji, the foul-mouthed Bung Mohtar who is notorious for desecrating Parliament with four-lettered words and despicable utterances particularly against women, said UMNO and BN have changed because they want the people to support them.

I am tempted to inform Bung Moktar: Tell it to the marines! Read the rest of this entry »

Muhyiddin knows his days as PM may be numbered and he has produced his counter-stroke – snap 15th General Election if the PN-BN-PBS alliance win in Sabah state election

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, knows his days as Prime Minister may be numbered and he has produced his counter stroke – snap 15th General Election in Malaysia if the PN-BN-PBS alliance win the Sabah state general election.

UMNO has been pressing for snap general election in Malaysia for it believes that with the Muafakat Nasional which it has formed with PAS, it was in a good position not only to recapture power in Malaysia and restore an UMNO Prime Minister but to win big even with a more than two-thirds parliamentary majority.

But the UMNO leadership has been reluctant to topple Muhyiddin as Prime Minister as there are UMNO Ministers and Deputy Ministers in the Perikatan Nasional government – of which UMNO Ministers and Deputy Ministers are a part but not UMNO itself. Read the rest of this entry »

Did Jeffrey Kitingan get the permission of the Prime Minister to put up banners in Sabah announcing that Muhyiddin will be guest speaker at the Malaysia Day commemorative event at Batu Sumpah, Keningau on “Demi Mempertahankan Hak Kita”?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Yesterday, I said that in the Sabah general election, issues which had been buried for forty or fifty years had resurfaced like MA63 and Keningau Batu Sumpah.

I said that for the first time in the 57-year history of Malaysia, the Prime Minister was paying obeisance to the validity and legitimacy of Keningau Batu Sumpah.

I asked whether Muhyiddin will present the Keningau Batu Sumpah and the three commitments of “Ugama Bebas Dalam Sabah”, “Tanah Tanah dalam Sabah di kuasai oleh Kerajaan Sabah” and “Adat Istiadat anak rayat Sabah dihormatkan dan dipelihara oleh Kerajaan” to Parliament together with a motion declaring the government’s recognition and fulfilment of the three pledges engraved on the Keningau Batu Sumpah? Is Bung Moktar fighting the first election in Sabah questioning the Rukun Negara principles when he opposes the “In God we Trust, United We Must” slogan on the Shafie Apdal billboards in Sabah

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I am most shocked that the Chairman of Sabah UMNO and one of the aspirants to be the next Sabah Chief Minister, Bung Mokhtar Radin, has great objection to the “In God we Trust, United We Must” slogan on the Shafie Apdal billboards which are put up all over Sabah.

This is most sad and tragic, especially when we are in the midst of the Golden Jubilee of the five Rukun Negara principles as the basis of nation-building for Sabah and Malaysia.

If the Malaysian Government had fully complied with the five Rukun Negara principles in the nation building of Malaysia, Sabah will not continue to be discriminated against until we have the shocking phenomenon of one of the richest states in the country where the poverty rate is the highest in all states – as Sabah’s poverty rate is even higher than Kelantan! Sabah general election – the most unusual election in the history of Malaysia

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Sabah general election is the most unusual election in the history of Malaysia.

Firstly, for having the most number of candidates, 447candidates for 73 seats, with one seat facing a 11-cornered fight, one-seat a 10-cornered fight, three seats nine-cornered, five seats eight-cornered, 13 seats seven-cornered, 26 seats six-cornered and 15 seats five-cornered fights.

Secondly, with the most number of political frogs in the fray, whose golden moment will come when they can demand their highest price – whether monetary or political position – if the outcome of the Sabah general election is a dumb one with no political group with a clear majority to form the State Government. Sabahans must decide whether to have Shafie Apdal continue as Sabah Chief Minster or to have Hajiji or Bung Moktar as CM or a political scenario of great instability and chaos where the political frogs can demand their highest price

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The people of Sabah must decide on September 26 whether to have Shafie Apdal continue as the Chief Minister of Sabah, or to have Hajiji Noor or Bung Moktar to be Chief Minister, or equally worse, to have a political scenario of great instability and chaos whether the political frogs can demand their highest price.

Sabah Umno leader Bung Moktar Radin insists today that Umno and BN have changed and are committed to a fairer, transparent, and trustworthy administration that will deliver on its promises to the people.

At the launch of his coalition’s Aku Janji campaign manifesto, he said that Sabah Umno and BN have changed, from the leadership, skills to organisation. Read the rest of this entry »

Second Proposal for Malaysia Day 2020: Prime Minister to present the three pledges of Keningau Batu Sumpah in Parliament and a motion on government’s commitment to uphold them as basis for Malaysian nation-building

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Just now, I made a proposal affecting the national level – that every Minister should declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or he or she should resign as a Cabinet Minister forthwith.

Now, I wish to make a second proposal which primarily concerns Sabah.

On the occasion of the Malaysia Day, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be attending a Malaysia Day commemoration event entitled “Demi Mempertahankan Hak Kita” at Batu Sumpah, Keningau.

For close to half a century, except for one or two Sabah politicians, the Keningau Batu Sumpah had been completely forgotten whether by national or Sabah leaders, until I visited Keningau in March 2010 together with two DAP MPs, Teo Nie Ching and Lim Lip Eng and the then lone Sabah State Assemblyman Jimmy Wong. Call on Sabah voters to treasure every vote – for it is a vote to usher a wind of change in Sabah and Malaysia

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Sabah has achieved a dubious record of having a total of 447 candidates from 16 political parties and 56 independents to contest the 16th Sabah election

There were multi-cornered fights in all the seats, the lowest being three-way battles and highest with 11 candidates vying for one seat, the Bengkoka seat in the Kudat parliamentary area.

Among others, there are 15 five-way battles, 26 six-way battles, 13 seven-way battles, six eight-cornered fights and three nine-cornered ones.

This is not only a record for Malaysia, Sabah can also enter into the Guinness Book of Records for the international arena although this is not an achievement to be proud about. Read the rest of this entry »

Call on Sandakan voters to support the vision of Calvin Chong for an university in Sandakan

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Sabah general election on September 26 is a battle between conviction politics versus money politics, between vision and principles versus self-interests and the “frog” political culture.

Just now, the Elopura candidate for Warison and the incumbent DAP State Assemblyman for the area, Calvin Chong, spoke of his vision for Sandakan and among the things he want to see is an university in Sandakan.

This reminds me of my call for an university for Sabah some 30 years ago when nobody had advocated it, and now we have a Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in Kota Kinabalu.

The time has come for a second university in Sabah and Sandakan is the appropriate place for the second Sabah university to be placed. Read the rest of this entry »

Let a whirlwind of change begin from the Land Below the Wind in the Sabah general election on Sept 26 as forerunner to restore the mandate of integrity, justice and progress in national governance in Malaysian 15th General Election

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I first came to Sabah on that fateful day on May 13, 1969 to assist the independent candidate for Kota Kinabalu in the 1969 General Election, and was to go on to

Sandakan and Tawau to help the independent candidates in these two places.

I left Kuala Lumpur in the morning of May 13, 1969 and I first heard of troubles in Kuala Lumpur in a public rally in Kota Kinabalu later the same evening – yet I have been accused down the decades of having caused the May 13 riots and having led the illegal processions in the streets of Kuala Lumpur during the May 13 riots. In actual fact, I was never in KL during the May 13, 1969 riots.

Just like the lie that I am a communist, which was first levelled against me in 2008 – more than 40 years after my political activities and although the communists wanted to defeat me in the 1969 general election – these are lies, falsehoods, fake news and misinformation which we have to contend in our political work, just as many lies, falsehoods, fake news and misinformation have surfaced in the Sabah general election. Congrats Veveonah – from tree-top girl to a UMS scholarship student and to dinner with the Prime Minister, but has Muhyiddin promised faster action to close the digital divide in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Congrats to plucky 18-year-old lass from Pitas, from tree-top girl to a Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) scholarship student and to dinner with the Prime Minister.

But has Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin promised faster action and more money to close the digital divide in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia so that no Malaysian youth need to emulate her feat of spending 24 hours on a tree top to sit for an online examination to get better Internet connectivity?

The Veveonah episode is a proper curtain-raiser for the 2020 Sabah state general election, for it encapsulates the miserable plight of the people of Sabah half a century after the formation of Malaysia – why Sabahans are so poor and backward in socio-economic infrastructure and development when Sabah is one of the richest states in the country!
