There is no other dignified option than for the Malaysia’s Special Envoy to China and MP for Bintulu, Tiong King Sing, to apologise in Parliament on Monday for his very personal, malicious and cowardly attack on the Health Director-General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah on Wednesday.
I agree with the Cuepacs President, Adnan Mat that Tiong had made an outrageous attack on Noor Hisham and had belittled the sacrifices of the civil servants who had been working tirelessly to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
In fact, the statement by the Deputy Health Minister Datuk Noor Azmi Ghazali last night that it was irresponsible and unreasonable to condemn the credibility and sacrifices of Noor Hisham in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic in the country had accentuated the mysterious role of the Health Minister, Dr. Adham Baba in this rumpus.

The MP for Bintulu, Tiong King Sing’s attack on the Health Director-General Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah in Parliament yesterday was not so simple and straightforward as it was a most cowardly and malicious, hiding behind a gross abuse of parliamentary privilege.
If it was not a malicious attack, why did’nt Tiong criticise the Heath Minister, Dr. Adham Baba who must bear full responsibility in Parliament for whatever happened in the Health Ministry?
Tiong had been a five-term Member of Parliament for 21 years since 1999. Is Tiong seriously suggesting that he is not aware that on all health matters, it is the Health Minister and not the Health Director-General who is answerable to Parliament? Read the rest of this entry »

I was intrigued by the unparliamentary conduct of the Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing when he attacked the Health director-general Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah in Parliament today.
Tiong accused Noor Hisham for being “afraid to die” for not being in Sabah to monitor the Covid-19 situation.

Former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak soiled and stained Parliament for 90 minutes when he spoke as Barisan Nasional Backbenchers’ Club Chairman on the 2021 Budget yesterday.
In which Parliament of the world would a person who had been convicted on corruption, money-laundering and abuse of power be allowed to speak as a leader of Members of Parliament except in Malaysia?
Have Malaysians forgotten that Najib is infamous world-wide as the person responsible for the 1MDB financial scandal, and who was convicted by a Malaysian court on July 28 on several charges related to the 1MDB scandal concerning corruption, money-laundering and abuse of power and sentenced to 12 years’ jail and RM210 million? The Minister for Communications and Multimedia Saifuddin Abdullah claims to be caught off-guard by the huge allocation of RM85.5 million for the revival of the Special Affairs Department (JASA), according to Malaysian Insight.
Saifuddin was said to be aware of the revival of JASA but he was not briefed on the quantum of the allocation.
His deputy minister, Zahidi Zainul Abidin – who still owes the Universiti Malaysia Sabah student Veveonah Mosibun an apology for his lies in Senate about Veveonah having to spend a night on a tree-top to get better connectivity to sit for an online examination – thinks otherwise. This is the first step to make the 2021 Budget presented by the Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Azia in Parliament last Friday into a “Unity Budget” in the face of Covid-19 epidemic, and not one which made use of the Yang di Pertuan Agong’s call for the budget to be passed as a blank cheque to achieve narrow self-interests and political mileage instead of serving national interests. The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin promised in his first address to the nation in March to be the prime minister for all Malaysians, but the 2021 Budget presented by the Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz last Friday belied this solemn Prime Ministerial vow, as it had polarised instead of united Malaysians of diverse races, languages, religions and cultures in the country.
In the United States, the 46th President-elect Joe Biden promised to end Trump’s “era of grim demonization” but Muhyiddin wants to do the opposite and launch a new Trumpian “era of grim demonization” with the revival of Special Affairs Department (JASA) in 2021 Budget.
The Pakatan Harapan government dissolved JASA because it was the chief liar and propagandist instrument of the Najib government, whose director-general was more powerful than an ordinary Cabinet Minister. Read the rest of this entry »

The Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz’s 2021 Budget is a great disappointment and a major let-down — as it was an unprecedented opportunity lost as there were no flashes of imagination, inspiration or creativity to create a united and great Malaysia.
It was ironic and very foreboding that the Budget 2021, designed to fight the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic, was presented on the day when Covid-19 cases soared to a new record of 1,755 cases, with 1,199 cases in Sabah alone.
It is particularly heart-rending that the 2021 Budget had slashed billions of ringgit for curative care and public health, including deep cuts for cancer and kidney diseases with the former cut by 10 times.
This is totally against the recent advice and warning by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to all countries in the world to prepare for the next pandemic.

The appointment of former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, as Chairman of Barisan Nasional Backbenchers’ Club (BNBBC) has confronted all Malaysians with a moral crisis, bringing to the fore the issue of the 1MDB financial scandal and Malaysia becoming a kleptocracy.
This is the time for all patriotic politicians to take a stand against the 1MDB financial scandal and Malaysia becoming a kleptocracy.
It is really amazing that after a decade at the end of 2020, there are still political leaders especially in UMNO, MCA and MIC who are so enamoured with the 1MDB financial scandal that they are not prepared to condemn it straightaway, taking a very ambiguous position that it has still to be proven that 1MDB was a scandal, and to avoid altogether the subject of Malaysia becoming a kleptocracy. In the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018, Malaysians surprised themselves and the world by making a stand against kleptocracy and the 1MDB financial scandal, toppling the government which had made Malaysia synonymous with kleptocracy and the 1MDB financial scandal.
But is kleptocracy dead in Malaysia or will it make a come-back?
Has Malaysians learnt the lesson of the 1MDB financial scandal or will there be similar financial scandals looting billions of ringgit of taxpayers’ money and landing the country in international shame and infamy?
These are questions which have suddenly become very real and relevant this week, when it was announced that the former Prime Minister and kingpin of Malaysian kleptocracy and 1MDB financial scandal has been appointed as Chair of the Barisan Nasional Backbencher’s Club (BNBBC) in the Malaysian Parliament.

On Sunday, it was reported that former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been appointed the Chairman of the Barisan Nasional Backbenchers’ Club.
I responded by asking Parliament not to recognise Najib’s appointment as BNBBC Chair as it would plunge the Malaysian Parliament into a new shame and infamy.
I said Najib’s appointment was doubly shocking and shameful it was continuing proof that public integrity and anti-corruption were furthest from the principles and vision of UMNO, MCA and MIC.
What made Najib’s appointment as BNBBC Chairman most unacceptable was that it was made three months after his July 28 conviction and sentence to 12 years jail and fines of RM210 million for corruption, money-laundering and abuse of power on charges in connection with the RM42 million SRC-1MDB case, and a week after Goldman Sachs pleaded guilty in the United States to violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which bars U.S. companies from paying bribes to government officials abroad.

The past nine months were depressing time for Malaysians who want Malaysia to take her rightful place in the international community of nations, building on the diversity of the nation of many races, languages, religions, cultures and civilisations to become a world top class nation in various fields of human endeavour.

Yesterday, the Health Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah declined to answer the flip flop in law enforcement where the PAS Minister for Plantation Industries and Commodities, Khairuddin Aman Razali, was only fined for violation of the Covid-19 quarantine SOP after returning from Turkey on July 7.
I had posed a parliamentary question on the very same issue when Parliament starts tomorrow for its 27-day budget session, but the question is placed at the bottom of the queue and would not be answered orally.

Postpone the budget presentation in Parliament by one week so that the 2021 Budget could incorporate proposals by both the Perikatan Nasional government and the Pakatan Harapan opposition to ensure that it could be adopted by Parliament

The presentation of the 2021 Budget in Parliament on Friday, 6th November 2020 should be postponed by one week to 13th November 2020 so that the 2021 Budget could incorporate the proposals by both the Perikatan Nasional government and the Pakatan Harapan opposition to ensure that the 2021 Budget could be adopted by Parliament.
It is almost one week since the Yang di Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and the Malay Rulers rejected the advice of the Muhyiddin Cabinet to proclaim a state of emergency nine months after the Covid-19 epidemic, but Malaysians cannot see any result in the Yang di Pertuan Agong and the Malay Rulers’ call to the political leadership to inspire Malaysians to rise above considerations of race, religion, region, class and politics with a larger Malaysian vision to unite in a single-minded manner to launch an “all-of-government” and “whole-of-society” approach and mindset in the war against Covid-19 epidemic. We are in unprecedented times.

The first business of Parliament on Nov. 2 should be to set up a bipartisan Parliamentary Committee on Covid-19 to set an example of an “all-of-government” and “whole-of-society” mindset and approach in the war against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Parliaments of other countries have set up parliamentary committees on Covid-19 and submitted reports and recommendations on how the war against the global Covid-19 pandemic could be more effective as well as the problems faced by most vulnerable sections of the community during the pandemic.
In Malaysia however, there is not only no action to set up a parliamentary select committee on Covid-19, all other parliamentary committees have come to a standstill since the Sheraton Move plot which toppled the Pakatan Harapan government in February and brought in the Perikatan Nasional government.

As a first step to an “all-of-government” and “whole-of-society” war against the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic to save lives and livelihoods in Malaysia , let all Malaysians and political parties reach a national consensus that a Warisan candidate would take uncontested the parliamentary seat of Batu Sapi, vacated by the death of former Minister Liew Vui Keong.
The Election Commission has announced that nomination for the Batu Sapi by-election will be on Nov. 23rd and polling on Dec. 5.

Why did the Prime Minster, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin acted like a thief in the night and convened a special Cabinet meeting to put Malaysia into a state of emergency totally without any accountability and transparency?
When did Muhyiddin reach the conclusion that a state of emergency is the best solution to his survival as the eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia, which might otherwise be shorter than the seventh Prime Minister of Malaysia of 22 months?

The Yang di Pertuan Agong should ask the Judiciary for its opinion as to whether Article 150 of the Constitution allows the proclamation of Emergency and suspension of Parliament to enable the Prime Minister to resolve his political problems

Before yesterday, nobody discussed Article 150 of the Proclamation of Emergency as a possible solution to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The reason was simple. Only the most desperate or the most mediocre Prime Minister would seek to invoke Article 150 of the Constitution to proclaim an emergency to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic, as there is nothing which the Government cannot do presently to fight the war against the Covid-19 pandemic but which requires a proclamation of emergency to empower the government to do so.
