Two recent news items attracted widespread attention.
The first quoted the Barisan Nasional secretary-general Annuar Musa as saying that there was a conspiracy to undo the UMNO and BN’s policy of ‘No Anwar, No DAP’.
The second quoted the UMNO advisory board chairman, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who said UMNO’s ‘No DAP, no Anwar’ policy may not be cast in stone. Read the rest of this entry »

The 32 million Malaysians must take ownership of the idea of a new national consensus for a great Malaysia in 2040 and the drafting of the new national consensus should be a bottom-up and not a top-down affair.
I have written in the past few days of an urgent need for a new national consensus as the Merdeka Constitution 1957, the Malaysian Constitution 1963, the Rukun Negara 1970 and the Vision 2020 promulgated in 1991 have all failed as nation-building instruments to the extent that there are now Ministers in the Cabinet who reject these basic documents of Malaysian nation-building. Today is the last day of Dewan Rakyat proceeding on which a lot of hope had been invested and lost – whether the country can redeem itself to have a government which is legitimate with the people’s mandate, and not illegitimate and established through the backdoor.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the D-Day for two questions: Will the 2021 Budget be rejected tomorrow and will Muhyiddin Yassin be toppled becoming the shortest Prime Minister in Malaysian history.
It is uncertain whether there will be a vote on the second reading of the 2021 Budget tomorrow as there is talk that the vote, scheduled for tomorrow may be delayed till the following week.
Be that as it may, powerful political forces have been released over the voting on the 2021 Budget, as evidenced by the most extraordinary joint statement by Ministers and Deputy Ministers declaring full support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin’s leadership until fresh general election can be held because of the Covid-19 epidemic. The Minister for Communications and Multimedia Saifuddin Abdullah claims to be caught off-guard by the huge allocation of RM85.5 million for the revival of the Special Affairs Department (JASA), according to Malaysian Insight.
Saifuddin was said to be aware of the revival of JASA but he was not briefed on the quantum of the allocation.
His deputy minister, Zahidi Zainul Abidin – who still owes the Universiti Malaysia Sabah student Veveonah Mosibun an apology for his lies in Senate about Veveonah having to spend a night on a tree-top to get better connectivity to sit for an online examination – thinks otherwise. At long last, we have official confirmation that former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak was appointed as Barisan Nasional Backbenchers’ Club in Parliament on November 1, 2020.
Who appointed him? Why did MCA and MIC officials want Najib to be their leader and spokesman in Parliament?
This appointment is important and crucial for Malaysia, for it is a test case whether Malaysians have become numb to the 1MDB financial scandal which had made adverse international headlines for the past five years, and until the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018, was ruthlessly suppressed and censored locally by repressive and draconian measures, and insensitive as to whether Malaysia again becomes a kleptocracy. Early this morning, I received a message asking whether a Coverage report with the heading “DAP Lim Kit Siang : ‘To Save Malaysia, I Am Prepared To Work With Najib To Restore Democracy & Implement Key Reforms’ ” dated October 15, 2020 came from me.
This was my reply: “It’s a very qualified statement where principles and national objectives take priority. Yes I am prepared to work with Najib to save Malaysia – but how can this be done when he is not prepared to admit the 1mdb scandal?”
The Coverage report has gone viral on the social media, with the objective to give the impression that I agree with DAP working with Najib Razak and UMNO to form a new national government to replace the Muhyiddin government. Read the rest of this entry »
KDM makes history in Sabah in having two Deputy Chief Ministers, but is this good only for Jeffrey and Joachim or also good for the million-strong KDM communities, only time will tell

The Kadazan-Dusun-Murut (KDM) communities made history in the 2020 Sabah state general election as for the first time in the history of Sabah, they have two Deputy Chief Ministers – STAR president, Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan and PBS Vice-President Joachim Gunsalam.
But whether this is good only for Jeffrey and Joachim or also good for the million-strong KDM communities, only time will tell.
But it has not been a good start for the KDM communities.

Just now, I made a proposal affecting the national level – that every Minister should declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or he or she should resign as a Cabinet Minister forthwith.
Now, I wish to make a second proposal which primarily concerns Sabah.
On the occasion of the Malaysia Day, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be attending a Malaysia Day commemoration event entitled “Demi Mempertahankan Hak Kita” at Batu Sumpah, Keningau.
For close to half a century, except for one or two Sabah politicians, the Keningau Batu Sumpah had been completely forgotten whether by national or Sabah leaders, until I visited Keningau in March 2010 together with two DAP MPs, Teo Nie Ching and Lim Lip Eng and the then lone Sabah State Assemblyman Jimmy Wong. On this day, I will like to make a proposal to make the Malaysia Day meaningful and purposeful in contributing to the building of an united Malaysian nation out of our diverse races, languages, religions and cultures.
I call on every Cabinet Minister to declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or his/her Cabinet position should be vacated.
I do not know whether every Cabinet Minister in the Muhyiddin government is prepared to make such a declaration of unequivocal support of the five Rukun Negara principles but the present Muhyiddin Cabinet appears to be the weakest Cabinet in support or the five Rukun Negara principles. Sabah has achieved a dubious record of having a total of 447 candidates from 16 political parties and 56 independents to contest the 16th Sabah election
There were multi-cornered fights in all the seats, the lowest being three-way battles and highest with 11 candidates vying for one seat, the Bengkoka seat in the Kudat parliamentary area.
Among others, there are 15 five-way battles, 26 six-way battles, 13 seven-way battles, six eight-cornered fights and three nine-cornered ones.
This is not only a record for Malaysia, Sabah can also enter into the Guinness Book of Records for the international arena although this is not an achievement to be proud about. Read the rest of this entry »

The best proof of the failure of Rukun Negara after 50 years is that the country has now a Cabinet which has the least number of Ministers who are Malaysian first and their ethnicity or religion second and the most number of Ministers who are first in their ethnicity or religion and Malaysian second.
Is the Cabinet prepared to hold a public event where every Cabinet Minister declares that he or she unconditionally and unequivocally accepts the five Rukun Negara Principles as the basis for the building of a Malaysian nation and that he or she is Malaysian first and their ethnicity or religious affiliation second?
Ten years ago, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he was Malay first and Malaysian second. Has he developed with the times to become a Malaysian first and Malay second? It was quite a disastrous start for this year’s triple national celebrations – National Day, Malaysia Day and Golden Jubilee of Rukun Negara.
Never before in 63-year history of Malaysia have there been so many negative messages as well as events which run counter to the joint National Day and Malaysia Day theme of “Malaysia Prihatin” and the 50th year commemoration of Rukun Negara principles.
The Yang di Pertuan Agong said Rukun Negara encapsulates Malaysia’s soul, spirit and national unity, but never before has the country been so depressed, disheartened and divided as one event after another demonstrates the uphill battle for the soul of Malaysia against the irreligious and immoral “Malu Apa” campaign – whether the Sheraton Move to usher in a “backdoor” government, the Slim River by-election or the nefarious plot in the durian belt of Pahang to deny justice to the durian farmers and to falsely target them as being opposed to the second Rukun Negara principle of “Loyalty to King and country”.
