Let the drawing up of the new national consensus for a great Malaysia be a bottom-up affair, involving holding the government to account for Covid-19 responses, demanding explanation why Malaysia is paying RM3 billion to immunise 6.4 million Malaysians when the expose from a Belgian Minister shows it should be cheaper by over 20 times

The 32 million Malaysians must take ownership of the idea of a new national consensus for a great Malaysia in 2040 and the drafting of the new national consensus should be a bottom-up and not a top-down affair.

I have written in the past few days of an urgent need for a new national consensus as the Merdeka Constitution 1957, the Malaysian Constitution 1963, the Rukun Negara 1970 and the Vision 2020 promulgated in 1991 have all failed as nation-building instruments to the extent that there are now Ministers in the Cabinet who reject these basic documents of Malaysian nation-building. Anwar assured that DAP leadership had never proposed a change of Opposition Leader

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Malaysia is surging ahead in the stakes for the most cumulative total of Covid19 cases in the world – leaving China ranked No. 80 behind, beating Bahrain to be ranked No. 78 with 91,969 cases. Today, Malaysia will improve its position to be ranked No. 77 if its daily increase of Covid-19 infections today reaches1,792 cases.

Urgent action needed to infuse Malaysians with a new national consensus to pull ourselves up from our bootstraps if Malaysia is not to spiral down the trajectory to a kleptocratic, kakistocratic and a failed state in 2040

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Urgent action is needed to infuse Malaysians with a new national consensus and pull ourselves up from our bootstraps if Malaysia is not to spiral down the trajectory to a kleptocratic, kakistocratic and a failed state in 2040.

In the final days of the year 2020, evidence are galore that we have failed in Vision 2020 to make Malaysia a great world-class nation which is united, harmonious, democratic, just, prosperous and capable of leveraging on Malaysia’s unique position as a confluence of four great civilisations to be “a beacon of light in a difficult and distracted world”. Malaysians need a new national consensus as Malaysians must never give up hope to build a just, prosperous, dynamic and world-class plural Malaysia

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Today is the last day of Dewan Rakyat proceeding on which a lot of hope had been invested and lost – whether the country can redeem itself to have a government which is legitimate with the people’s mandate, and not illegitimate and established through the backdoor.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had survived the confidence test in Parliament by a razor-thin majority but he has not won the confidence of Malaysians or the international community. Read the rest of this entry »

It is most regrettable that for his own political survival as the eighth Prime Minister, Muhyuddin has compromised the 1957 Merdeka Constitution, Malaysia Agreement 1963 and 1970 Rukun Negara

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

It is most regrettable that for his own political survival as the eighth Prime Minister Malaysia and to avoid becoming the Malaysian Prime Minister for the shortest term, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has compromised the 1957 Merdeka Constitution, the 1963 Malaysia Agreement and the 1970 Rukun Negara.

Let me remind Muhyiddin of the constitutional position and the historical records of the nation with regard to secularism. Read the rest of this entry »

Will the 2021 Budget be rejected tomorrow and will Muhyiddin be toppled becoming the shortest Prime Minister in Malaysian history?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Tomorrow is supposed to be the D-Day for two questions: Will the 2021 Budget be rejected tomorrow and will Muhyiddin Yassin be toppled becoming the shortest Prime Minister in Malaysian history.

It is uncertain whether there will be a vote on the second reading of the 2021 Budget tomorrow as there is talk that the vote, scheduled for tomorrow may be delayed till the following week.

Be that as it may, powerful political forces have been released over the voting on the 2021 Budget, as evidenced by the most extraordinary joint statement by Ministers and Deputy Ministers declaring full support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin’s leadership until fresh general election can be held because of the Covid-19 epidemic. Are we seeing a kakistocracy at work?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Minister for Communications and Multimedia Saifuddin Abdullah claims to be caught off-guard by the huge allocation of RM85.5 million for the revival of the Special Affairs Department (JASA), according to Malaysian Insight.

Saifuddin was said to be aware of the revival of JASA but he was not briefed on the quantum of the allocation.

His deputy minister, Zahidi Zainul Abidin – who still owes the Universiti Malaysia Sabah student Veveonah Mosibun an apology for his lies in Senate about Veveonah having to spend a night on a tree-top to get better connectivity to sit for an online examination – thinks otherwise. Scrap the RM85.5 million for reviving the Special Affairs Department (JASA) and put the money for a special agency to promote national unity and bring Malaysians, regardless of race, religion, region or politics together as one united people to fight the Covid-19 pandemic

This is the first step to make the 2021 Budget presented by the Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Azia in Parliament last Friday into a “Unity Budget” in the face of Covid-19 epidemic, and not one which made use of the Yang di Pertuan Agong’s call for the budget to be passed as a blank cheque to achieve narrow self-interests and political mileage instead of serving national interests. Najib’s appointment as BNBBC Chairman in Parliament is a test case whether Malaysians have become numb to the 1MDB financial scandal and insensitive as to whether Malaysia again becomes a kleptocracy

At long last, we have official confirmation that former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak was appointed as Barisan Nasional Backbenchers’ Club in Parliament on November 1, 2020.

Who appointed him? Why did MCA and MIC officials want Najib to be their leader and spokesman in Parliament?

This appointment is important and crucial for Malaysia, for it is a test case whether Malaysians have become numb to the 1MDB financial scandal which had made adverse international headlines for the past five years, and until the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018, was ruthlessly suppressed and censored locally by repressive and draconian measures, and insensitive as to whether Malaysia again becomes a kleptocracy. How to co-operate with Najib when he is not prepared to admit the 1MDB scandal?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Early this morning, I received a message asking whether a Coverage report with the heading “DAP Lim Kit Siang : ‘To Save Malaysia, I Am Prepared To Work With Najib To Restore Democracy & Implement Key Reforms’ ” dated October 15, 2020 came from me.

This was my reply: “It’s a very qualified statement where principles and national objectives take priority. Yes I am prepared to work with Najib to save Malaysia – but how can this be done when he is not prepared to admit the 1mdb scandal?”

The Coverage report has gone viral on the social media, with the objective to give the impression that I agree with DAP working with Najib Razak and UMNO to form a new national government to replace the Muhyiddin government. Read the rest of this entry »

KDM makes history in Sabah in having two Deputy Chief Ministers, but is this good only for Jeffrey and Joachim or also good for the million-strong KDM communities, only time will tell

The Kadazan-Dusun-Murut (KDM) communities made history in the 2020 Sabah state general election as for the first time in the history of Sabah, they have two Deputy Chief Ministers – STAR president, Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan and PBS Vice-President Joachim Gunsalam.

But whether this is good only for Jeffrey and Joachim or also good for the million-strong KDM communities, only time will tell.

But it has not been a good start for the KDM communities.

Second Proposal for Malaysia Day 2020: Prime Minister to present the three pledges of Keningau Batu Sumpah in Parliament and a motion on government’s commitment to uphold them as basis for Malaysian nation-building

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Just now, I made a proposal affecting the national level – that every Minister should declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or he or she should resign as a Cabinet Minister forthwith.

Now, I wish to make a second proposal which primarily concerns Sabah.

On the occasion of the Malaysia Day, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be attending a Malaysia Day commemoration event entitled “Demi Mempertahankan Hak Kita” at Batu Sumpah, Keningau.

For close to half a century, except for one or two Sabah politicians, the Keningau Batu Sumpah had been completely forgotten whether by national or Sabah leaders, until I visited Keningau in March 2010 together with two DAP MPs, Teo Nie Ching and Lim Lip Eng and the then lone Sabah State Assemblyman Jimmy Wong. Call for every Minister to declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or his/her Cabinet position should be vacated

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

On this day, I will like to make a proposal to make the Malaysia Day meaningful and purposeful in contributing to the building of an united Malaysian nation out of our diverse races, languages, religions and cultures.

I call on every Cabinet Minister to declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or his/her Cabinet position should be vacated.

I do not know whether every Cabinet Minister in the Muhyiddin government is prepared to make such a declaration of unequivocal support of the five Rukun Negara principles but the present Muhyiddin Cabinet appears to be the weakest Cabinet in support or the five Rukun Negara principles. This is a major blemish of the Cabinet. Read the rest of this entry »

Call on Sabah voters to treasure every vote – for it is a vote to usher a wind of change in Sabah and Malaysia

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Sabah has achieved a dubious record of having a total of 447 candidates from 16 political parties and 56 independents to contest the 16th Sabah election

There were multi-cornered fights in all the seats, the lowest being three-way battles and highest with 11 candidates vying for one seat, the Bengkoka seat in the Kudat parliamentary area.

Among others, there are 15 five-way battles, 26 six-way battles, 13 seven-way battles, six eight-cornered fights and three nine-cornered ones.

This is not only a record for Malaysia, Sabah can also enter into the Guinness Book of Records for the international arena although this is not an achievement to be proud about. Read the rest of this entry »

Failure of Rukun Negara after 50 years – best proof is the present Cabinet which has the least number of Ministers who are Malaysian first and their ethnicity or religion second and the most number of Ministers who are first in their ethnicity or religion and Malaysian second

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The best proof of the failure of Rukun Negara after 50 years is that the country has now a Cabinet which has the least number of Ministers who are Malaysian first and their ethnicity or religion second and the most number of Ministers who are first in their ethnicity or religion and Malaysian second.

Is the Cabinet prepared to hold a public event where every Cabinet Minister declares that he or she unconditionally and unequivocally accepts the five Rukun Negara Principles as the basis for the building of a Malaysian nation and that he or she is Malaysian first and their ethnicity or religious affiliation second?

Ten years ago, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he was Malay first and Malaysian second. Has he developed with the times to become a Malaysian first and Malay second? Is he a Prime Minister for all Malaysians or Prime Minister for only one group of people? Read the rest of this entry »

Never before in 63-year history of Malaysia have there been so many negative messages as well as events which run counter to the National Day theme of “Malaysia Prihatin” and the Rukun Negara principles

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

It was quite a disastrous start for this year’s triple national celebrations – National Day, Malaysia Day and Golden Jubilee of Rukun Negara.

Never before in 63-year history of Malaysia have there been so many negative messages as well as events which run counter to the joint National Day and Malaysia Day theme of “Malaysia Prihatin” and the 50th year commemoration of Rukun Negara principles.

The Yang di Pertuan Agong said Rukun Negara encapsulates Malaysia’s soul, spirit and national unity, but never before has the country been so depressed, disheartened and divided as one event after another demonstrates the uphill battle for the soul of Malaysia against the irreligious and immoral “Malu Apa” campaign – whether the Sheraton Move to usher in a “backdoor” government, the Slim River by-election or the nefarious plot in the durian belt of Pahang to deny justice to the durian farmers and to falsely target them as being opposed to the second Rukun Negara principle of “Loyalty to King and country”. Malaysians in the durian belt in Pahang celebrate National Day although they are targets of a nefarious plot contrary to the National Day theme of “Prihatin Rakyat” and falsely targeted as opposing the second Rukun Negara principle of “Loyalty to King and Country”

On this day 63 years ago, when I was in Form III in Batu Pahat High School, students gathered at the school padang to hear the Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, read out the Proclamation of Independence in Kuala Lumpur where he concluded with the declaration: “from the thirty first day of August, nineteen hundred and fifty seven, the Persekutuan Tanah Melayu comprising the States of Johore, Pahang, Negri Semblian, Selangor, Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan, Trengganu, Perak, Malacca and Penang is and with God’s blessing shall be for ever a sovereign democratic and independent State founded upon the principles of liberty and justice and ever seeking the welfare and happiness of its people and the maintenance of a just peace among all nations”.

We all returned home proudly that day with a printed scroll of the Proclamation of Independence and our hopes for the nation were sky-high as we could think of no limits of what the country could achieve.

Today, 63 years later, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, said in his National Day Message that the government will make “Prihatin Rakyat” (Caring for the People) as its main guiding principle in championing the fate and prioritising the welfare of the people. Defend the independence of national institutions like Parliament, Judiciary, Police, MACC, the offices of Attorney-General and Auditor-General as a first step to uphold the principles of Rukun Negara in the war against the “Malu Apa” viral pandemic in Malaysia

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

One question which had been haunting me for some time is whether the Malaysian Constitution adopted as the basis for the building of a Malayan and later Malaysian nation in 1957 would have been accepted and adopted if it had been presented to the highest legislature of the land today.

There are legitimate doubts that the 1957 Constitution would have been passed by the highest legislature of the land today especially as the Constitution is viewed with considerable disfavour by those who believe that while corruption is deplorable, one should support a Muslim who is corrupt and not a non-Muslim who is clean, honest and upright; or those committed to the toxic politics of race and religion to disunite and polarise Malaysia and condemn the nation to the fate of a kleptocratic, kakistocratic and a failed state.
