Call for Royal Commission of Inquiry into all direct negotiation contracts in the past ten years from 2010 to 2020 covering all three Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan and Perikatan Nasional governments

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Malaysians have to thank the Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz for highlighting the issue of direct negotiation contracts although his intention was not so noble as it was primarily a mean political power play in Parliament aimed at the Pakatan Harapan government to suggest that it was lacking in integrity in the conduct of financial affairs.

But Tengku Zafrul’s ham-fisted strategy has returned to bite him and the Perikatan Nasional government and scoring his own goal as the list of 101 projects given through direct negotiations worth RM6.61 billion released by him had become the most powerful testimony that the 22-month Pakatan Harapan government, whatever its mistakes or shortcomings, was better than both the previous Barisan Nasional government and the present “backdoor” Perikatan Nasional government.

If Tengku Zafrul is sincere, honest and upright, he would have praised the Pakatan Harapan government for saving the country RM790 million in Phase 2 of Klang Valley double-tracking project by paring the RM5.265 billion contract signed by the Barisan Nasional government a day before Parliament was dissolved in March 2018 to RM4.475 billion.

Can Tengku Zafrul give a single instance where the Perikatan Nasional government and the Finance Ministry under him had saved the country RM790 million in reviewing the contracts signed by the Pakatan Harapan government? Read the rest of this entry »

How a Cabinet Minister became a fugitive from justice?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Two days ago, Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said he was unsure if Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali visited Turkey alone or with other people.

“I only know about the minister. Whoever followed him, I’m not sure,” he said at a press conference.

The Minister’s ignorance is shocking news.

Didn’t Khairuddin report to the Cabinet last week after DAP MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok revealed to Parliament last Tuesday about Khairuddin and his entourage breaching the Covid 19 quarantine SOP for people leaving and returning to the country?

Even if Khairuddin had not reported to the Cabinet, didn’t he and the other Cabinet Ministers asked Khairuddin to give a report?

Or has Malaysia a dumb Cabinet where Ministers dare not mind the business of other Ministers, even if this would be most damaging for Malaysia’s reputation? Read the rest of this entry »

Tengku Zafrul has delivered a major blow to the Golden Jubiliee celebrations of Rukun Negara as he has become the latest recruit of the Malu Apa campaign

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Congrats to the Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, who delivered a major blow to the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Rukun Negara as he has become the latest recruit of the Malu Apa campaign.

Parliament has been reduced to a political market-place where the cheapest intrigues are played out, as on Monday, when Zafrul in response to the MP for Pontian Ahmad Maslan said that 101 projects worth RM6.61 billion had been approved through direct negotiations under the former Pakatan Harapan administration.

Barisan Nasional MPs jumped into the parliamentary fray suggesting that this was proof of impropriety and corruption – and as one government MP said: “Bagan talked about being clean, that DAP is clean. But how clean are you when you have direct negotiations?”

Former Finance Minister and DAP Secretary-General and MP for Bagan, Lim Guan Eng has challenged Tengku Zafrul to reveal details of the 101 government projects worth RM6.61 billion allegedly awarded by the Pakatan Harapan administration without open tender. Read the rest of this entry »

Call on Muhyiddin to make public the report of the Health Ministry internal investigation on Khairuddin’s violation of the Covid 19 quarantine SOP

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The admission by the Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah that top Ministry officials were in the dark about Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali’s violation of home quarantine rules until last week is quite a shocker.

Equally astounding is that an internal investigation into the series of events following the minister’s July 7 return from Turkey has been kept as a secret from the public.

At yesterday’s press conference, Noor Hisham admitted that he, along with the ministry’s deputy director-general and head of infectious diseases, were not informed about the matter until it made the news.

He said he instructed an internal investigation to be held and he has received the full report of what happened from the ground. Read the rest of this entry »

Slim River by-election: the battle for the soul of Malaysia – the Rukunegara principles or “Malu Apa Bossku?”

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Slim River by-election on Saturday, with early voting today, is the battle for the soul for Malaysia – a battle between the Rukunegara principles or “Malu Apa Bossku”?

No wonder that the campaigner-in-chief is none other than the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is making the Slim River by-election the first major test for his “Malu Apa Bossku?” campaign.

There had been 11 by-elections, five Parliament and six State Assembly, after the historic 14th General Election of May 9, 2018 which ended the seemingly invincible control of Barisan Nasional and UMNO to save Malaysia from becoming a kleptocracy, kakistocracy and a failed state, but the Slim River State Assembly by-election in Perak this Saturday is the first by-election to be held after the former Prime Minister was convicted and sentenced to 12 years’ jail and fined RM210 million on all seven charges related to the misappropriation of RM42 million of SRC International funds involving the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

The former Prime Minister campaigned in the first by-election for the Sungai Kandis State Assembly constituency in Selangor on August 4, 2018 and was blamed for the UMNO defeat.

As a result, he stayed out of the Balakong and Seri Setia by-elections and made low-keyed appearances at the Port Dickson by-elections. Read the rest of this entry »

Going by the record, it is likely that with Dzulkefly as Health Minister, a Pakatan Harapan Government would have done better in the fight against the Covid-19 outbreak than the Perikatan Nasional Government

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Perikatan Nasional campaign in the Slim River by-election has produced many outrageous events which highlight the need for a new political culture which upholds the five Rukunegara principles and the objectives of truth and fair play.

The most abominable so far had been outrageous statement by Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, that there would be more Covid-19 cases and deaths in Malaysia under a Pakatan Harapan Government.

Actually, the truth could be the opposite.

Under the Pakatan Harapan Minister of Health, Dzulkefly Ahmad, before the infamous Sheraton Move on February 23, 2020 and before the second wave of Covid-19 attacked the country, Malaysia had a good and great record in fighting Covid-19. Read the rest of this entry »

The Khairuddin quarantine charade – Just tell the truth, no cover-ups, no make-ups and any other cock-and-bull stories

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The time has come for the Perikatan Nasional government to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about the Khairuddin quarantine charade – no cover-ups, no make-ups or any other cock-and-bull stories.

Start with:

– the names of those in the Khairuddin tour who visited Turkey from July 3 -7, whether in their official or private capacity;

– whether authorisation by the Prime Minister was given for the Turkish trip, why and the the nature of the authorisation;

– the full programme – both official and private – of the group in Turkey from July 3 – 7; Read the rest of this entry »

RM1,000 fine for PAS Minister to end the growing storm over his Covid-19 SOP breach sounds very fishy and contrived – why Khairuddin did not admit right from the beginning, what is the Health Ministry investigation about and what about others in Khairuddin’s trip to Turkey?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

RM1,000 fine for the PAS Minister for Plantation, Industries and Commodities, Khairuddin Aman Razali to end the growing  storm over his Covid-19 SOP breach sounds very fishy and contrived as it raises more questions.

If the Health Ministry had acted  as early as August 7 and issued a compound of RM1,000 on August 7 and the Minister had paid the compound, the questions that arises include:

  1. Why the Minister had not admitted the SOP breach right from the beginning when the DAP MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok raised it in Parliament on August 18;
  2. Why the cock-and-bull story that the Minister’s trip to Turkey had the approval of the Prime Minister, that he had escaped 14-day quarantine because he was found “negative” in a “special test” for Ministers to go in and out of the country and that Turkey was a “green country (zone)” for Covid-19 pandemic!
  3. If action had already been taken on August 7, what was all the Health Ministry investigation in the last four days about?
  4. Is the payment of the M1,000 compound fine by Khairudddin on August 7 true?
  5. Why didn’t the Health Ministry require Khairruddin to wear the pink wristband, monitor and require him to be quarantined? Did Khairuddin defy such quarantine instructions?
  6. What about the others in Khairuddin’s trip to Turkey. How many of them,  who are they and were they all compounded?

Is Muhyiddin such a weak Prime Minister that he cannot or dare not impose discipline on his own Cabinet as his Ministers have no qualm in ignoring or defying him?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The silence of the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been thunderous.

The scandal of the Cabinet Minister who defied the Covid-19 SOP by not undergoing the stipulated 14-day quarantine SOP after returning from a five-day trip to Turkey in early July raises the question whether Muhyiddin is such a weak Prime Minister that he cannot or dare not impose discipline on his own Cabinet as his Ministers have no qualm in ignoring or defying him.

Four days have passed since the DAP MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok raised in Parliament the case of a Cabinet Minister who visited Turkey for five days and returned without undergoing the stipulated 14-day quarantine.

The attitude of the defaulting Minister is akin to the posture struck by a former Prime Minister – “Malu Apa Bossku”! Read the rest of this entry »

Muhyiddin should disclose how many Ministers, Deputy Ministers and top officials had been given permission to leave the country during the MCO, CMCO and RMCO and whether the Health Ministry has devised a special Covid 19 test to enable them to skip the SOP

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

We seem to have a new reason for a Cabinet Minister not undergoing the stipulated 14-day quarantine after returning from a five-day trip to Turkey in early July – that the Minister had undergone a “special test” when he returned from the trip and the results were negative.

What is this special test? “The special test was to enable the country’s leaders who go in and out of the country, including on personal matters, to undergo the test swiftly.” – Star 21.8.2020.

This is news to Malaysians. Read the rest of this entry »

Triple national celebrations this year marred by a Minister who openly shows contempt and breaches Rukunegara

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The triple national celebrations this year – the National Day, Malaysia Day and 50th anniversary of Rukunegara – are marred by a Minister who openly shows contempt and breaches the Rukunegara.

What is the lesson from the shocking episode where a Cabinet Minister did not undergo the stipulated 14-day quarantine after returning from an overseas trip?

The message from this shocking episode is that 63 years after Merdeka, 57 years after the formation of Malaysia and on the Golden Jubilee of Rukunegara, there is no rule of law as there are two classes of Malaysians – the ordinary Malaysians who must abide by the law and the VVIPs who can defy the law. Malaysia can be saved by the combined energies and commitment of youths, women and senior citizens in Malaysia

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Many Malaysians have been thinking of the question: Who could save Malaysia.

I think the answer is not in a Mahathir Mohamad, Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, Lim Kit Siang, Gobind Singh Deo or M. Kulasegaran, but whether we can motivate and mobilise the youths, women and senior citizens and combine their energies and commitments to save Malaysia.

Is the Malaysian Dream – an united, democratic, just, progressive and prosperous, a world top class nation which is capable of leveraging on the best of the diverse races, languages, cultures and civilisations that meet in confluence in Malaysia so as to gain international respect and admiration as a successful nation which leads the world in unity, democracy, justice, freedom, excellence and integrity, a lost cause? Is Malaysia to be condemned and scorned as a global kleptocracy and kakistocracy hurtling towards a failed state future.

Malaysians achieved a near-miracle on May 9, 2018 and toppled a seemingly invincible UMNO-led Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election in plursuit of a Malaysian Dream.

But 22 months later, through the Sheraton Move conspiracy, the Pakatan Harapan government was toppled, giving way to a “backdoor” government.

Has the Malaysian Dream for a New Malaysia been lost forever and Malaysia condemned to be a kleptocracy, kakistocracy and a failed state? Read the rest of this entry »

Who can save Malaysia?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

In the first 100 days of the Pakatan Harapan government in 2018, there was nothing that it could do wrong. After that, there was nothing that it could do right.

Why was it so?

There are several reasons for this.

Firstly, the euphoria and the expectations of the unprecedented general election victory were too sky-high although grave mistakes were made in the first months of Pakatan Harapan government.

I had never expected the invincible Barisan Nasional to be toppled in the May 9, 2018 General Election.

But the seeds for the premature end of the Pakatan Harapan government were planted as early as in the first hundred days of the new administration. Read the rest of this entry »

Will the Prime Minister or Health Minister ensure the setting up of a Parliamentary Select Committee on Covid 19 for MPs at the current parliamentary meeting to monitor the public health, economic and nation-building crisis of Covid 19?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Around Malaysia time 7am this morning, the cumulative global total of Covid 19 infections passed the 20 million mark.

When the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared Covid-19 a pandemic on March 11, 2020, there were more than 118,000 Covid-19 cases in 114 countries, and 4,291 people have lost their lives.

Five months after WHO had declared Covid-19 as a pandemic, there are now 24 countries which have more than 118,000 cases with the United States, Brazil and India being the three countries in the lead with over 5 million, three million and two million cases respectively, embracing over 220 countries, while the total global fatality of Covid 19 is nearing three-quarter of a million or over 170 times the global fatality five months ago.

Recently, WHO warned that the coronavirus pandemic is likely to be “lengthy” after its emergency committee met to evaluate the crisis six months after sounding the international alarm and it warned of the risk of “response fatigue” given the socio-economic pressures on countries.

A top priority for Malaysia as for all countries in facing the “once-in-a-century” health crisis is to ensure that the population must learn to live with the virus in overcoming the public health, economic and nation-building crisis.

Let every Malaysian come forward to re-unite and dare to hope and struggle again to restore dignity and decency in a New Malaysia where there is unity, democracy, justice, freedom, excellence and integrity

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I call on Malaysians to come forward to re-unite and dare to hope and struggle again to restore dignity and decency in a New Malaysia where there is unity, democracy, justice, freedom, excellence and integrity.

In the past few days, apart from the political persecution of Betty Chew – just because she is the wife of Lim Guan Eng- Malaysia has been buffetted by a series of events which highlight a gross deficit of dignity and decency in Malaysian public life, which must be the concern of all thinking and patriotic Malaysians, regardless of race, religion, region, age or gender.

We read of netizens rallying behind a teenager who was fined RM1,000 for purportedly pulling down his face mask while waiting on a platform for a train.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has offered to assist the teenager who was fined RM1,000 urging the student to contact him for help.

In fact, all members of the public in such circumstances should be refunded the bulk of their fines as Malaysians were right to question the seemingly uneven enforcement of the compulsory face mask rule with regard to a number of politicians who have been photographed without masks in public places.

The lesson from the new political persecution of Lim Guan Eng and Betty Chew

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

After 55 years in Malaysian politics fighting for a better Malaysia, I was inclined to take a back seat – especially after a recent hospitalisation laid me off from active operation for an extended period.

But this was not to be.

The lesson from the new political persecution of Lim Guan Eng and Betty Chew is the truism of the famous Edmund Burke quote that “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

Many Malaysians had been disappointed by the 22-month performance of the Pakatan Harapan Government but it had a mandate of five years to acquit itself.

When the 2018 General Election mandate was stolen in February 2020 by a backdoor conspiracy, there was widespread disillusionment, despair and even a sense of hopelessness that the country could fully develop its potential to become a world-class nation with unity, democracy, justice, freedom, excellence, integrity and decency.

Open appeal to Prime Minister, Attorney-General and MACC to maintain some decency and honour in public life and drop money-laundering charges against my daughter-in-law Betty Chew

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I was shocked when Betty Chew, wife of Lim Guan Eng, was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) yesterday and was to be charged at the Butterworth court on Tuesday under the Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act (Amla) as if she is a notorious and a big-time villain in Penang involved the crimes normally associated with money-laundering like drug trafficking, terrorist funding and rampant corruption.

I do not want to comment on the case proper and I will leave it to the lawyers to defend her.

But this is not the Betty Chew that I know for three decades. Her only fault was being a loving and loyal wife and mother of four great kids. I am proud of my daughter in law as a lawyer and a former ADUN in Melaka before she retired. I am even more proud that despite all the pressure from work, she looked after Guan Eng and brought up my four beautiful grandchildren.

I am not surprised by Guan Eng’s arrest and prosecution, as this is to break his political spirit as when he was previously imprisoned in 1998 for 18 months and disqualified as a Member of Parliament for defending the dignity and morality of an underaged Malay girl who was raped. DAP and Amanah have not abandoned Anwar in favour of Mahathir as it is the surest way for Anwar to become Prime Minister

Mereka silap.

DAP dan Amanah tidak pernah mengabaikan Anwar dengan memilih Mahathir, pilihan ini pilihan yang paling berkemungkinan untuk mengangkat Anwar sebagai Perdana Menteri.

Pandemic Poser – How Malaysians can be free of a government held to ransom by six MPs who are facing corruption charges in the courts

Although the Covid-19 pandemic is in its sixth month, the global transmission shows no sign of slowing. While all over the world, countries are preparing for a second wave, the first wave is still strong, swelling up into a tsunami.

Two days ago, 141,973 new cases were confirmed worldwide – the highest daily increase in the coronavirus transmissions since the pandemic began.

There have been great global changes since Malaysia imposed the movement control order (MCO) on March 18.

Four of the world’s top 10 countries in terms of cumulative total of Covid-19 confirmed cases – China, France, South Korea and Switzerland – have dropped out of the list, to be replaced by Brazil, Russia, India and Peru.

Muhyiddin’s First 100 Days – from the second wave of Covid-19 outbreak to lockdown of Parliament and the return of kleptocracy and kakistocracy
