I have just seen a WhatsApp message which has gone to the core of the problem why Malaysians are so polarised and divided, why Malaysia is losing out in the vision to become a world-class great nation and why Malaysians, regardless of race, religion or region, must unite against the politics of hate, lies, falsehoods and fear which are the greatest enemies of making Malaysia a great world-class nation.
This WhatsApp message said:

The United States President Joe Biden has announced a two-month acceleration of the American national Covid-19 vaccination roll-out promising that there will be enough coronavirus vaccine doses for “every adult in America by the of the end of May, shortening the earlier July timeline.

What is unusual and abnormal about the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s anniversary telecast is his failure to act on the Yang di Pertuan Agong’s advice that an emergency does not preclude the convening of Parliament.
On Feb. 25, the Yang di Pertuan Agong said the Parliament sitting can convene during the emergency.
This is enshrined in subparagraph 14(1)(b) of the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance 2021 which states that Parliament should be called, prorogued and dissolved on a date as deemed appropriate by His Majesty on the advice of the prime minister. Read the rest of this entry »

I call on the government to fully embrace the concept of vaccine equity where priority is given to health workers to ensure the success of the Covid-19 vaccination rollout in Malaysia.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) issued a call in January on all countries to work together in solidarity – and in each of their best interests – to ensure that within the first 100 days of the year, vaccination of health workers and older people was underway in all countries. Although the daily increase of Covid-19 infections have come down to four-digit two- thousand figures in the past five days, far from the peak figures of 5,728 and 5,723 figures on 30th and 29th January respectively, it is disturbing that Malaysia is one of the worst performing countries in bringing the Covid-19 pandemic under control in the past three months.
On Nov. 18, 2020, Malaysia was ranked No. 85 among countries in the world with the most cumulative total of Covid-18 cases.

The 19-member independent committee headed by former Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria should advise the Yang di Pertuan Agong that the Emergency Proclamation of 11th January 2021 does not preclude the convening of a Special Parliament on Covid-19 pandemic to give effect to Article 43(3) of the Constitution that “The Cabinet should be collectively responsible to Parliament”.
This is fortified by six grounds:
Firstly, although the Clause 14(1)(a) Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance 2021 provides that “For so long as the emergency is in force, (a) the provisions relating to the summoning, proroguing and dissolution of Parliament in the Federal Constitution shall not have effect”, it also provides in Clause 14(1)(b) that “the Parliament shall be summoned, prorogued and dissolved on a date as the Yang di Pertuan Agong thinks appropriate”. The global Covid-19 pandemic seems to have turned a corner with the number of Covid-19 cases across the globe declining for a fourth week in a row.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) weekly epidemiological update, the number of Covid-19 deaths reported worldwide decreased for a second week running, with 88,000 new deaths reported last week, a 10% drop compared to the previous week.

They are:

Otherwise, why the visit of the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to Indonesia where one of the results was to “step up talks to work out the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the implementation of the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) scheme between the two countries”, as announced by Muhyiddin after he met Indonesian President Jojo Widodo at Istana Merdeka, Jakarta last Friday?

If Malaysia continues in its trajectory of daily increase of more than 4,000 Covid-19 cases, we will be ranked No. 49 today, beating Croatia which has 234,153 cumulative total of cases as compared to Malaysia’s 231,483 Covid-19 cases.

Mahathir’s egregious blunder resigning as PM

I am surprised that I was mentioned in the last paragraph of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s statement yesterday, where he said:
“I thought that something similar was needed. But I failed because Kit Siang said I was trying to become a dictator. He supported Anwar as the PH candidate. Had the 92 votes gone to me I would have 154 votes. You can imagine what direction the nation would take when all parties put the nation first.”
This is Mahathir’s own conjecture. To put the record straight, PH’s decision to support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister after Mahathir’s shocking resignation, was made unanimously by all three component parties of PH – DAP, PKR and Amanah.
