Emergency Proclamation and Suspension of Parliament not science-based but politics-based decisions purportedly to combat Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia
Posted by Kit in COVID-19, Muhyiddin Yassin, Parliament on Friday, 2 April 2021
The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is considering lifting travel restrictions for those who have completed their Covid-19 vaccination and have been issued a digital certificate proving this.
The Prime Minister is on the right track but all Malaysians are asking why the Prime Minister is not considering convening Parliament and the State Assemblies to mobilise the whole country in a national mobilisation effort for an “all-of-government” and “whole-of-society” strategy and approach in the war against Covid-19 pandemic to bring the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia – one of the longest Covid-19 waves in the world – under control?
In the last three days, the daily increase of new Covid-19 cases have returned to four-digit figures. i.e. 1178, 1483 and 1133 cases, after falling to triple-digit figure for the first time in nearly four months when it registered 941 new cases on March 29. Read the rest of this entry »
Pakatan Harapan should focus on the 15th General Election and not obsessed with the numbers game as to who can win the majority in Parliament to become Prime Minister

I fully agree with Parliamentary Opposition Leader and head of Pakatan Harapan Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that Pakatan Harapan should focus on the 15th General Election and not obsessed with the numbers game as to who can win the majority in Parliament to become Prime Minister.
When visiting the “Malaysian Dream” Theatre Impian in Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, Anwar said Pakatan Harapan should be moving forwards, strengthen the idealism of the people and focus on getting the machinery ready for the battlefield in the next general election to champion the aspirations of the people. Malaysia is losing out on private investment because the effort to pursue the Malaysian Dream has slackened in the past year

I was very happy yesterday for my hopes that in March itself Malaysia can break the four-digit daily increase of new Covid-19 cases have come true following the report that the latest daily increase of new Covid-19 cases was 941, the first time new daily increase of cases had fallen below the 1,000 mark since Dec. 9 – falling on the third last day of the month.
But we have still not brought the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia – already one of the longest Covid-19 waves in the world – under control, and my hope is that we can reduce the triple-digit daily increase of new Covid-19 cases to double-digit figures next month in April. Muhyiddin owes Tan KS and Mani Vannan apology for not allowing them home quarantine to perform their filial duties and the continuation of Dua Darjat disease

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin owe airline pilot Tan KS and Mani Yannan apology for not allowing them home quarantine to perform their filial duties while Deputy Federal Territories Minister Edward Santhara was able to benefit from the “Dua Darjat” abuse of power and undergo home quarantine after his controversial New Zealand trip.
Can the Prime Minister give an assurance to all Malaysians that all Dua Darjat abuse of power in the war against Covid-19 pandemic would cease?
(Media Comment by DAP MP for Iskandar Puteri Lim Kit Siang in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, 28th March 2021)

Muhyiddin said today the government will consider allowing interstate travel for Aidilfitri but the Health director-general raised the alarm yesterday about rising Covid-19 curve – why is there such conflicting messaging and kakistocracy?

Today, in his constituency, the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the government will study thoroughly whether the state inter-state travel and visits can be allowed in conjunction with Aidilfitri which falls in May.
But yesterday, the Health Director-General, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah sounded the alarm as the curve of Covid-19 infections began showing an upward trend and said on FaceBook: : “We need strong social responsibility and compliance to flatten the curve again.” Read the rest of this entry »
Malaysia has become almost a kakistocracy when the Cabinet is not bothered about the country’s performance in the Covid-19 pandemic or unconcerned about corruption and lack of professionalism in the police force

Malaysia has become almost a kakistocracy when the Cabinet is not bothered about the country’s performance in the Covid-19 pandemic or unconcerned about corruption and lack of professionalism in the police force.
The Cabinet had two historic challenges yesterday – firstly, whether it will advise the Yang di Pertuan Agong to convene Parliament to spearhead a national mobilisation campaign to bring the Covid-19 pandemic under control by Malaysia Day on Sept. 16, 2021 and to be a better performer on the world stage in combating the Covid-19 pandemic; secondly, whether it will set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry on Police Integrity and Professionalism and to turn the Malaysian police into a world-class police force?

Malaysia must restore our moral high ground in international arena or we will continue to be regarded as illegitimate and Muhyiddin’s call to Myanmar military to release Aung San Suu Kyi and change course from violence to peace akin to the pot calling the kettle black

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin, has called on the Myanmar military to release Myanmese elected leader, Aung San Suu Kyi and to change course from violence to peace.
If Muhyiddin will not heed national and international calls for the convening on Parliament and the lifting of the emergency, why would the Myanmese military listen to his call?

The de facto Law Minister Takiyuddin Hassan showed his superficial commitment to parliamentary democracy when he maintained that Parliament will only sit when the emergency expires in August and trotted out the argument that Parliament did not sit for two years in a separate emergency in 1969.
He claimed that the government was functioning well even though Parliament has been suspended through an emergency proclamation that came into force on Jan 11. Read the rest of this entry »
Muhyiddin should commission two reports for consideration by Cabinet next Wednesday — why Malaysia having one of the longest waves of the Covid-19 pandemic in the world and how to make the national Covid-19 vaccination rollout not only a success, but to accelerate and complete it by National Day-Malaysia Day period

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should commission two reports for consideration by the Cabinet next Wednesday — why Malaysia is having one of the longest waves of the Covid-19 pandemic in the world and how to make the national Covid-19 vaccination rollout not only a success but to accelerate and complete it by National Day-Malaysia Day period.
Yesterday, it was reported that the new Covid-19 cases have risen to 1,576 cases from the previous day of 1,213 new Covid-19 cases — though it was the 14th day the daily increase of new Covid-19 cases had fallen below 2,000 cases.
What were the causes which resulted in Malaysia having one of the longest waves of the Covid-19 epidemic in Malaysia – as the third wave in Malaysia which started in September as a result of the super-spreader event of the Sabah state general election has not yet been fully brought under control as to see the daily increase of new Covid-19 cases reduced to triple-digit and even double-digit figures. A great honour that on the eve of 55th DAP anniversary, Karpal Singh who was DAP Chairman (2004-2014) and DAP MP (1978 – 2014) posthumously awarded “Datuk Seri Utama” for his services to Malaysians and nation

It is a great honour to the DAP that on the eve of our 55th anniversary, Karpal Singh, who was DAP National Chairman (2004-2014) and DAP MP (1978 – 2014) was posthumousl y awarded the Darjah Utama Pangkuan Negeri (DUPN) which carries the title “Datuk Seri Utama” in conjunction with the Penang Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas’ 82nd birthday celebration for the Tiger of Jelutong’s services to Malaysians and the nation. Karpal’s wife Gurmit Kaur received the award on behalf of her late husband.
DAP has come a long way since our registration by the Registrar of Societies on March 18, 1966.
We have had our many ups and downs, achievements and setbacks, but our goal had remained the same in the past 55 years – to create a world-class great nation out of the diversities of race, language, religion, culture and civilisation which meet in confluence in Malaysia to be “a beacon of light in a difficult and distracted world”. DAP is committed to be part of the “all of government, whole-of-society” effort to register as many people as possible to take the COVID-19 vaccine
(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)
It has been three weeks since the start of the COVID-19 vaccine registration on the 24th of February 2021. On the first day of the registration, more than 500,000 persons signed up to be in the queue to take the vaccine via the
MySejahtera mobile app.
More recently, the number of new registrations seems to have reduced noticeably. As of the 15th of March, a total of 5,633,903 vaccine registrations has been recorded. The daily new registrations was under 100,000 persons on the 14th as well as on the 15th of March, 2021.

Most shocking that the Muhyiddin government will not suspend the harsh, disproportionate, unconscionable and ill-considered emergency ordinance that requires the police to impose RM10,000 compound fines for breach of MCO
(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)
I find it most shocking to read of the announcement yesterday by the Defence Minister, Ismail Sabri Yaakob that Putrajaya will not repeal the RM10,000 fine for violating movement control order (MCO) SOP but the fine could be reduced upon appeal by individuals issued such compounds.
This is an indication of how far the government of the day had deviated from its people-centric principles, utterly unmoved by the hardships it imposed on the people by forcing them to go through the hassle and trouble of going to district health offices to appeal against the RM10,000 compound fines, especially when there are no guidelines as to how such an appeal could be made. Malaysia should embark on an ambitious plan to accelerate the National Covid-19 vaccination roll-out and complete it during the National Day-Malaysia Day celebrations so that Malaysia can begin to return to normality and work on economic recovery by the fourth quarter of the year
(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)
I am disappointed that nothing has been done with regard to my suggestion two weeks ago that the National Covid-19 vaccination roll-out should be accelerated so that it could be completed very much earlier than the February 2022 schedule.
I would to reiterate my call for the country to embark on an ambitious plan to accelerate the National Covid-19 vaccination roll-out and complete it during the National Day-Malaysia Day celebrations from August 31st – September 16, 2021 so that Malaysia can begin to return to normality and work on economic recovery by the fourth quarter of the year.

Call on Ministers at the Cabinet meeting tomorrow to propose the immediate suspension of harsh, disproportionate and ill-considered emergency ordinances raising the maximum fine for breach of MCO to RM10,000 and on fake news
(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)
I presume that the omnibus Muhyiddin Cabinet still meets very Wednesday.
If so, I hope there will be Ministers who will propose the immediate suspension of harsh, disproportionate and ill-considered emergency legislation purportedly to combat the Covid-19 pandemic but is doing the very opposite – forfeiting public support for the government’s efforts to bring the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic under control, so that we can return initially to three-digit and then to double-digit daily increase of new Covid-19 cases.

Re-strategise so that Malaysia can be one of the better-performing countries in the war against Covid-19 pandemic
(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)
Just a year ago, on March 11 last year, when there were 118,000 Covid-19 cases globally in 114 countries, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared Covid-19 as a pandemic.
A year later, global total of Covid-19 cases have increased over 1,000 times to breach the 120 million mark and has affected 219 countries and territories, taking a heavy toll on societies and economies.
The United States remain the world’s top country with over 30 million Covid-19 cases and over 546,000 fatalities, while Brazil has just overtaken India as the world’s second country with the most cumulative total of Covid-19 cases – close to 11.5 million Covid-19 cases and over 277,000 fatalities. India, the world’s third country with over 10 million Covid-19 cases, has over 11.3 million cases and 158,642 fatalities. Read the rest of this entry »
Why is the Attorney-General evading the question whether he would prosecute anyone under the emergency ordinance on fake news for alleging that the emergency was declared because Muhyiddin had lost the majority in Parliament

Why is the Attorney-General Tan Sri Idris Harun evading the question whether he would prosecute anyone for alleging that the emergency was declared because the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had lost the majority in Parliament.
This question has become pertinent because of two contradictory statements by Cabinet Ministers: firstly, the assurance by the Communication and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah yesterday that the government will differentiate between criticism and fake news; and secondly, the statement by the de facto Law Minister, Takiyuddin Hassan in an earlier joint press conference with Saifuddin that it would be a criminal offence under Emergency (Essential Powers) (No. 2) Ordinance 2021 for anyone to allege that Muhyiddin had an emergency declared because he had lost majority in Parliament and would be liable to be fined up to RM100,000, jailed up to three years or both.
