The people of Sabah must decide on September 26 whether to have Shafie Apdal continue as the Chief Minister of Sabah, or to have Hajiji Noor or Bung Moktar to be Chief Minister, or equally worse, to have a political scenario of great instability and chaos whether the political frogs can demand their highest price.
Sabah Umno leader Bung Moktar Radin insists today that Umno and BN have changed and are committed to a fairer, transparent, and trustworthy administration that will deliver on its promises to the people.

Just now, I made a proposal affecting the national level – that every Minister should declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or he or she should resign as a Cabinet Minister forthwith.
Now, I wish to make a second proposal which primarily concerns Sabah.
On the occasion of the Malaysia Day, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be attending a Malaysia Day commemoration event entitled “Demi Mempertahankan Hak Kita” at Batu Sumpah, Keningau.
For close to half a century, except for one or two Sabah politicians, the Keningau Batu Sumpah had been completely forgotten whether by national or Sabah leaders, until I visited Keningau in March 2010 together with two DAP MPs, Teo Nie Ching and Lim Lip Eng and the then lone Sabah State Assemblyman Jimmy Wong. On this day, I will like to make a proposal to make the Malaysia Day meaningful and purposeful in contributing to the building of an united Malaysian nation out of our diverse races, languages, religions and cultures.
I call on every Cabinet Minister to declare support for the five Rukun Negara principles or his/her Cabinet position should be vacated.
I do not know whether every Cabinet Minister in the Muhyiddin government is prepared to make such a declaration of unequivocal support of the five Rukun Negara principles but the present Muhyiddin Cabinet appears to be the weakest Cabinet in support or the five Rukun Negara principles. Sabah has achieved a dubious record of having a total of 447 candidates from 16 political parties and 56 independents to contest the 16th Sabah election
There were multi-cornered fights in all the seats, the lowest being three-way battles and highest with 11 candidates vying for one seat, the Bengkoka seat in the Kudat parliamentary area.
Among others, there are 15 five-way battles, 26 six-way battles, 13 seven-way battles, six eight-cornered fights and three nine-cornered ones.
This is not only a record for Malaysia, Sabah can also enter into the Guinness Book of Records for the international arena although this is not an achievement to be proud about. Read the rest of this entry »

The Sabah general election on September 26 is a battle between conviction politics versus money politics, between vision and principles versus self-interests and the “frog” political culture.
Just now, the Elopura candidate for Warison and the incumbent DAP State Assemblyman for the area, Calvin Chong, spoke of his vision for Sandakan and among the things he want to see is an university in Sandakan.
This reminds me of my call for an university for Sabah some 30 years ago when nobody had advocated it, and now we have a Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in Kota Kinabalu.
The time has come for a second university in Sabah and Sandakan is the appropriate place for the second Sabah university to be placed. Read the rest of this entry »

Malaysiakini reported that there are conflicting claims surrounding the status of Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali, who is being investigated for not adhering to the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) after returning from abroad.
Highly-placed sources informed Malaysiakini the PAS leader is on leave pending the outcome of the probe and this was conveyed to the cabinet last week.
However, this has been denied by the Minister’s aide, Muhammad Faudzi Jalil, who said it was business as usual for his boss.

I first came to Sabah on that fateful day on May 13, 1969 to assist the independent candidate for Kota Kinabalu in the 1969 General Election, and was to go on to
Sandakan and Tawau to help the independent candidates in these two places.
I left Kuala Lumpur in the morning of May 13, 1969 and I first heard of troubles in Kuala Lumpur in a public rally in Kota Kinabalu later the same evening – yet I have been accused down the decades of having caused the May 13 riots and having led the illegal processions in the streets of Kuala Lumpur during the May 13 riots. In actual fact, I was never in KL during the May 13, 1969 riots.
Just like the lie that I am a communist, which was first levelled against me in 2008 – more than 40 years after my political activities and although the communists wanted to defeat me in the 1969 general election – these are lies, falsehoods, fake news and misinformation which we have to contend in our political work, just as many lies, falsehoods, fake news and misinformation have surfaced in the Sabah general election. Would the 66th PAS National Delegates Assembly have ignored PAS Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, Khairuddin Aman Razali’s violation of Covid 19 quarantine SOP when he returned from Turkey on July 7, if he had not donated RM50,000 to his party?
This is a question many are asking.
Khairuddin’s donation was announced by the PAS Assembly permanent chairperson Husin Ismail after the PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang’s speech.
Political analysts had expected the PAS Assembly to touch on the Khairuddin episode and the issue of the performance of the PAS ministers in the Perikatan Nasional administration thus far, as currently, people do not have confidence in the abilities of PAS Ministers in the Cabinet, as UMNO Ministers and Deputy Ministers were seen as performing better.

Congrats to plucky 18-year-old lass from Pitas, from tree-top girl to a Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) scholarship student and to dinner with the Prime Minister.
But has Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin promised faster action and more money to close the digital divide in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia so that no Malaysian youth need to emulate her feat of spending 24 hours on a tree top to sit for an online examination to get better Internet connectivity?
The Veveonah episode is a proper curtain-raiser for the 2020 Sabah state general election, for it encapsulates the miserable plight of the people of Sabah half a century after the formation of Malaysia – why Sabahans are so poor and backward in socio-economic infrastructure and development when Sabah is one of the richest states in the country! Never before has there been so many candidates contesting in the Sabah state general election in the last five decades – 447 candidates for 73 seats, with one seat facing a 11-cornered fight, one-seat a 10-cornered fight, three seats nine-cornered, five seats eight-cornered, 13 seats seven-cornered, 26 seats six-cornered and 15 seats five-cornered fights.
But in Sabah, it is not only individuals but political parties who could be political frogs.
It is indeed a massive free-for-all but it accentuates what should be one of the objectives of the 2020 Sabah state general election – to slay the “frogs” whether persons or parties and bring an end in Sabah and Malaysia the disgusting political culture of “frogging” and to usher in a new era of honest and conviction politics. The Veveonah 24-hour “tree-top girl” episode has provided a rare glimpse of the shambolic governance of the kakistocratic Muhyiddin government, where there is no understanding of collective Cabinet responsibility and where no Minister dare to exercise discipline over his Deputy Minister.
This is the result of the highly opportunistic and unprincipled backdoor government, which was formed with the sole purpose of betraying the mandate of the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018 for change and reform and the toppling of the legitimate Pakatan Harapan government.
The country should have been elated by the YouTube feat of plucky 18-year-old student from Kampung Sapatalang in Pitas who had dramatically highlighted the problem of digital divide in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia (a worldwide problem which must be resolved by the government of the day), and which had received to date over 790,000 views. Congrats to plucky 18-year-old student from Pitas, Veveonah Mosibin for being a subject-matter in the Cabinet – but alas, it is not about her 24-hour tree-top YouTube and the problem of digital divide in Sabah and Malaysia but the misconduct of the two deputy ministers whom the Prime Minister was too weak politically to discipline.
In a tweet this afternoon, the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said that the cabinet discussed the issue of Sabahan student Veveonah Mosibin and came to the conclusion that the statements by two deputy ministers, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin and Deputy Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Bakri, were incorrect and inappropriate.
Is “taking note” all that the Muhyiddin Cabinet could do about the disgraceful mis-conduct of the two Deputy Ministers, both of whom publicly lied about the Veveonah incident, and one of whom even lied in Senate? Read the rest of this entry »

The Deputy Minister for Communications and Multimedia Zahidi Zainul Abidin and the Deputy Finance Minister and MP for Kudat, Abdul Rahim Bakri have conspired to turn the Veveonah episode into a comedy of errors highlighting that under the Muhyiddin “backdoor” government, Malaysia is fast becoming a kakistocracy – a government by the worst persons in the country.
First, we have Zahidi accusing in Senate last Thursday that plucky Sabah student Veveonah Mosibin from Kampung Sapatalang in Pitas of lying when she did a YouTube in June of her 24 hours on top of a tree to sit for an examination because of poor internet connectivity.
He said he had checked and found that Veveonah had pretended to take a university exam on a tree to popularise her YouTube channel.
Later the same night, Zahidi apologised for wrongly accusing Veveonah of trying to garner publicity by sitting on a tree to gain internet connectivity for an online examination. Read the rest of this entry »

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should urgently organise “Rukun Negara and sensitivity” courses for his Ministers and Deputy Ministers so that incidents like the Veveonah and violation of Covid-19 SOPs will not be repeated.
It is unbelievable that the Veveonah Incident had snared two Deputy Ministers and exposed them as having utterly lost their roots and completely cut off from the ordinary people.
Apart from passing the buck to the MP for Kudat and Deputy Finance Minister, the Deputy Communications and Multi-media Minister, Zahidi Zainul Abidin has yet to justify his somersaults in the last few days, firstly, for accusing Veveonah Mosibin of Pitas in the Senate of lying that she had to spend 24 hours on a tree-top to gain internet connectivity for an online examination; withdrawing his accusation later the same day; then repeating the accusation yesterday but blaming it on the Deputy Finance Minister. Why is Zahidi flogging a dead horse, trying to justify his Thursday morning statement in the Senate accusing Veveonah Mosibin of lying that she had to spend 24 hours on a tree-top to gain internet connectivity for an online examination.

Plantation and Commodities Minister, Khairuddin Aman Razali from PAS now symbolises one of the major dereliction of the Perikatan Nasional government – violation of Rukun Negara and double standards in the country.
When this morning I read news about a senior police officer being among the 227 people detained in operations to check compliance with the recovery movement control order (RMCO) in Petaling Jaya earlier today, the first person who come to my mind is Khairuddin.
I believe I speak for all Malaysians wondering why Police is taking such an inordinately long time to decide on action against Khairuddin for his breach of RMCO SOPs, when everyday, actions are being taken against ordinary Malaysians for non-compliance with RMCO rules and regulations. Government should adopt a flexible and nimble policy and approach to deal with Covid-19 pandemic and not a “one size fits all” situation
The Covid-19 pandemic chalked up four dubious records in the world in the past 24 hours:
(i) Achieving a single-day increase global record for Covid-19 cases as it registered 300,474 new Covid-190 cases, the first time daily new infections have breached the 300,000-mark;
(ii) Global cumulative total of Covid-19 infections breached the 27 million mark and stands at present at 27,069,983 cases;

Is Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin the weakest of the eight Prime Ministers of Malaysia – weaker than Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawai, the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia?
This thought came to me when I read of the call by the PAS Plantation and Commodities Minister, Khairuddin Aman Razali for the permanent closure of pubs and nightclubs in Malaysia.
I do not think Khairuddin would have survived as a Cabinet Minister under any other Prime Minister in Malaysia after violating the Covid 19 quarantine SOP after his personal visit to Turkey on July 7, the lies that was told in particular about Turkey at the time was a “green zone” when it was an epicentre of the Covid 19 pandemic, and his attempt to make light his breach by claiming that he did not do anything wrong in regard to his job and that it involved only an error over the issue of the Covid-19 SOPs. For the sake of the Veveonahs of Sabah, Sarawak and Malaysia to ensure that the government is serious about closing the digital divide in Malaysia, the Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin must be referred to the Senate Committee of Privileges to determine how he could be so ignorant and incompetent as to call Veveonah Mosibin of Pitas a liar in the Senate for her YouTube of her spending a night on a treetop to get Internet connection for her examination.
Zahidi’s excuse that he had received “inaccurate information” to tell such a lie in the Senate is a most lame one.
The Senate Committee of Privileges should establish whether Zahidi was telling the truth in claiming that he had received “inaccurate information” or this is Zahidi’s second lie.

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin should be sacked for his shocking ignorance and incompetence, undercutting the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin himself, exposing the government to national and international ridicule as a kakistocracy.
Zahidi will be getting away too easily for his grave and shameful faux pas if he is just allowed to apologise and move on.
He said in the Senate yesterday morning that he had checked and found that Veveonah Mosibin of Kampung Sapatalang in Pitas, Sabah had pretended to take a university exam on a tree to popularise her YouTube channel, but later the same night, Zahidi said he would like to correct the statement that she did not sit for any exam.
