Is there nobody in UMNO who dare say that UMNO should not seek the return of Najib as Prime Ministe and that his years as Prime Minister when Malaysia became “kleptocracy at its worst” worldwide is not something to be proud of

(Versi BM)

Yesterday, I said Malaysians need new political aspirations, and “If Najib loves Malaysia, he will contribute to this process of returning Malaysia to the founding nation-building principles our founding fathers, including his father, had agreed when Malaysia was founded – and helped remove the national scar where Malaysia was identified with ‘kleptocracy at its worst’ worldwide”.

I suggested that ”there is nothing that Najib can do better than to just disappear from the political arena instead trying to be Prime Minister again”.

I am prepared to go to jail for warning Malaysia not to become another Sri Lanka but is Najib prepared to go to jail for Malaysia’s infamy, ignominy or iniquity worldwide as “kleptocracy at its worst”?

(Versi BM)

The Police have started investigation under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code for making a statement with the intention to incite anyone or race and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1988 for improper use of network facilities or network service for my statement warning Malaysia not be become a Sri Lanka.

Section 505 © of the Penal Code on “Statements conducing to public mischief” states that “ Whoever makes, publishes or circulates any statement, rumour or report with intent to incite or which is likely to incite any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community of persons, shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to two years or with fine or with both”. The travails of the Philippines and Sri Lanka should be followed closely by the people of Malaysia if we are to learn from the lessons of Philippines or Sri Lanka to become a world-class great nation by Malaysia’s Centennial

(Versi BM)

It has been reported that the police had begun an investigation for incitement over a tweet about public unrest in Sri Lanka over a blog posting on my website.

I have already explained that I had no intention to incite any unrest in Malaysia but to warn of the dangers of allowing the political and socio-economic conditions in Malaysia to deteriorate as happened in Sri Lanka for over half a century as to become a failed state. Najib is up to his tricks again, encouraged by Marcos Jr’s presidential electoral success in the Philippines, spreading false allegation against his opponents by his army of cybertroopers

(Versi BM)

Former Prime Minister Najib Razak is up to his tricks again, encouraged by Marcos Junior’s presidential electoral success in the Philippines, spreading false allegation against his opponents by his army of cybertroopers.

He accused me of inciting the Malaysian public by questioning whether Malaysia will suffer the same fate as Sri Lanka, when I asked whether the houses of the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Malaysia will be set on fire by angry protestors as happened in Sri Lanka last week. Can Malaysia learn from the lessons of Sri Lanka?

(Versi BM)

Will the houses of the Prime Minister and Ministers of Malaysia be set on fire by angry protestors as happened in Sri Lanka last week?

This is not going to happen today, this month or this year, but will it happen before Malaysia marks its Centennial in 2057 or 2063? Read the rest of this entry »

Malaysians have a mountain to climb if they are to convince the world that Malaysia is not the Philippines and that Malaysians will not regard the last decade as a ”golden era” when the nation was condemned worldwide as a kleptocracy

(Versi BM)

Malaysians have a mountain to climb if they are to convince the world that Malaysia is not the Philippines and that Malaysians will not regard the last decade as a ”golden era” when the nation was condemned worldwide as a kleptocracy – as the 15th General Election, whenever it is held, is less than a year away.

The Philippines Presidential Election yesterday is proof that social media disinformation and Internet lies can win elections and turned the notorious Filipino kleptocracy of the Marcos in the 80s into a “golden era” of peace and prosperity. Read the rest of this entry »

What lessons the Philippines Presidential Election tomorrow has for Malaysia with regard to the impending 15GE for the country?

(Versi BM)

What lessons the Philippines Presidential Election tomorrow has for Malaysia with regard to the impending 15th General Election?

I have just read an AFP report that Marcos Jr “appears on the cusp of victory in the presidential polls, with his seemingly unassailable lead fuelled by a decades-long misinformation campaign to revamp the family brand”. Read the rest of this entry »

Philipines presidential election on Monday will have interesting bearing on the forthcoming 15GE in Malaysia

(Versi BM)

When Filipino voters go to the polls for the Philippines Presidential election on Monday, it will have interesting bearing on the forthcoming 15th General Election in Malaysia.

The Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Filipino journalist Maria Ressa has said that the Philippines presidential election is “a microcosm of a global battle for facts” as he quoted author Milan Kundera: “The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting”.

Malaysians must learn to differentiate between truth and lies if the nation is not to degenerate to become a failed state in the next few decades

(Versi BM)

Activist Haris Ibrahim hit the nail on the head when he said that a nation cannot be built on lies.

It is not that there were no lies and fake news in the public square in the early years of Malaysia, but the advent of the social media with billions of humans plugged in one instant 24/7 global information stream has created an unprecedented crisis of trust in human history. Will Malaysia become a failed state by 2050 or 2063?

(Versi BM)

Will Malaysia become a failed state by 2050 or 2063?

Last Wednesday, the sixth Malaysian Prime Minister wrote in his Facebook displaying the cover my 1978 book “Time Bombs in Malaysia”:

“Dari permulaan karier politiknya pada tahun 1960an, Uncle sering beri amaran bahawa Malaysia bakal muflis dan menjadi failed state.

“Tapi 60 tahun kemudian sehingga Uncle bersara politik, Malaysia masih belujm muflis dan failed state.” Read the rest of this entry »

Malaysians must ensure that Malaysia does not end up like Sri Lanka, one of the most prosperous Asian nations more than half a century ago but which took a wrong turn in nation-building and is now virtually a failed state

(Versi BM)

During my schooldays in Batu Pahat in the fifties, Ceylon (which later changed its name to Sri Lanka in 1972 after becoming a republic) was one of the most prosperous countries in Asia, more developed than many Asian countries like Thailand, South Korea, India, Pakistan and Burma.

But it took a wrong turn in nation-building policies and today after more than half a century later, it is on the verge of becoming a failed state.

My first post-retirement project is a book on whether Malaysia can reverse the national decline of past half-century and become a world-class great nation by 2040 or 2050

(Versi BM)

For the past three weeks since my retirement from competitive politics, I have been wrestling with the questions:

· whether Malaysia can reverse the national decline in the past half-century and become a world-class great nation by 2040 or 2050; Read the rest of this entry »

Pledge to fully support the DAP leadership but decline the CEC proposal to be DAP mentor

(Versi BM)

When I announced my political retirement at the DAP congress on March 20, 2022 it was a retirement from party elections and leadership, parliamentary and state assembly elections.

One cannot retire completely from politics unless one retires from life, for politics impinges on every aspect of one’s life.

Malaysia can only be a world-class great nation if Malaysians have a Malaysian Dream and not a Malay Dream, Chinese Dream, Indian Dream, Kadazan Dream or Dayak Dream

(Versi BM)

I thank Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Datin Seri Wan Azizah for the generosity and friendship in organising this dinner and MPs and Selangor Legislative Assembly members for their solidarity and support in attending this dinner on my political retirement

I have just returned from Kampong Bakuku in Sabah and I would not be surprised if you have not heard of this kampong, as I was not aware of it until I visited it in Tenom near the Sabah/Sarawak border yesterday, for Impian Malaysia is having a three-day medical camp for the villagers in the surrounding kampongs.

What the political comeback of a convicted criminal for corruption as the 10th or 11th Prime Minister of Malaysia would mean?

(Versi BM)

When I asked yesterday who will be UMNO’s Prime Minister-designate after the 15th General Election, I was accused of being too obsessed with Najib Razak.

I was not.

The political comeback of a convicted criminal for corruption as the 10th or 11th Prime Minister would have serious implications for the future of Malaysia. Read the rest of this entry »

When can Prime Minister Ismail Sabri catch up with Malaysians who are now worried about the swirling scandal involving the MACC Chief Commissioner Azam Baki while he is still only seemingly concerned about the floods disasters last month

(Versi BM)

When can the Prime Minister Ismail Sabri catch up with Malaysians who are now worried about the swirling scandal involving the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Azam Baki while he is still only seemingly concerned about the floods disasters last month.

The one-day Special Parliament on the floods disasters yesterday did not prove that Ismail is really concerned about the floods disasters, because he did not return to Parliament in the winding up of the Special Parliament yesterday. Read the rest of this entry »

Sarawak DAP should find out the reasons for the poor performance in the Sarawak State general election but focus on preparing forthcoming 15th General Election which should be held this year

Sarawak DAP did poorly in the Sarawak state general election held last month.

I am disappointed with the results of the Sarawak state general elections as apart from Pandungan and Pending, I had expected DAP to win Kota Sentosa, Bukit Assek, Pelawan, Tanjong Batu and Pujut.

The Sarawak DAP should find out the reasons for the poor performance and the serious setback in the Sarawak state general election but even more important, focus on preparing for the forthcoming 15th General Election in Malaysia which should be held this year. Read the rest of this entry »

More Malaysians must be concerned that Malaysia has taken a wrong turn in nation-building in the last half-a-century and want to take corrective action to prevent a Second Malaysian Diaspora by fulfilling its destiny to become a world-class great nation with Malaysian First mind-set and commitment

(Versi BM)

I have been recommending five books for reading by all MPs and Malaysians, not to agree or disagree with what is written in these books, but to understand how Malaysia took a wrong turn in nation-building in the last half-a-century and must take corrective action to prevent a Second Malaysian Diaspora by fulfilling Malaysia’s destiny to become a world-class great nation with Malaysian First mindset and commitment.

These five books are:

1. What’s In A Name – Nazir Razak
2. Capturing Hope – Mahathir Mohamad
3. Final Reckoning – Romen Bose
4. Paradise Lost – Dennis Ignatius
5. My Story: Justice in the Wilderness – Tommy Thomas

From a swimming pool to “kleptocracy at its worst” – Malaysia needs reset to become a world-class great nation as we have lost our way in the last half-a-century to become an increasingly mediocre country

1. What’s In A Name – Nazir Razak
2. Capturing Hope – Mahathir Mohamad
3. Final Reckoning = Romen Bose
4. Paradise Lost – Dennis Ignatius

The struggle for a New and Better Malaysia is unfinished business and Malaysians must reaffirm their commitment to continue the struggle or cede the future of Malaysia to racialists, religious bigot and kleptocrats

(Versi BM)

An elected representative who is doing a Masters programme in a local university asked me yesterday what I thought of the New Economic Policy.

I spoke about the New Economic Policy in my first speech in Parliament 51 years ago in February 1971 where I declared that the DAP supported affirmative policies to help the poor and the backward but it must be based on need but not on race.

I said that the DAP is “dedicated to the abolition of poverty and economic backwardness regardless of race” and that we want to create a “classless community of Malaysians based on fellowship, co-operation and service, where there is no exploitation of man by man, class by class or race by race”.
