Malaysians must not allow the abuses of social media — lies, falsehoods and fake news — to take a new form in rewriting history as in denying a Sheraton Move political conspiracy in February 2020 and blaming DAP for plotting the toppling of Mahathir as Prime Minister of Pakatan Harapan Government
Malaysians must not allow the abuses of social media — lies, falsehoods, and fake news — to take a new form in rewriting history as in denying the existence of Sheraton Move political conspiracy in February 2020 and blaming DAP for plotting the toppling of Mahathir Mohammad as Prime Minister of Pakatan Harapan Government.
Faizal Azumu is very wrong, Hadi has no reasons that is why he has not been able to substantiate his wild and preposterous allegations against DAP and me for as long as six months

Malaysian politics have fallen to a new low when political leaders from the Opposition make preposterous allegations about Islamophobia and Malaysians selling organs to survive with no respect for integrity of information or truth
Malaysian politics have fallen to a new low when political leaders from the Opposition make preposterous allegations about Islamophobia and Malaysians selling organs to survive with no respect for integrity of information or truth.
PAS President Hadi Awang made the wild and preposterous allegation that the DAP was promoting Islamophobia but despite being repeatedly challenged, he has not been able for five months to offer an iota of evidence to substantiate his most serious allegation.
Anwar must take firm action against heightened racial and religious incitement and polarisation
The Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim must take firm action against heightened racial and religious incitement, and polarisation in the country to preserve and protect inter-racial and inter-religious relations, harmony, and peace in plural Malaysia.
One lesson from Michelle Yeoh’s winning the Oscar for best actress: Lets unite all the races and religions in the country to compete with the rest of the world instead of competing among ourselves as in the last few decades

I want Anwar Ibrahim to be the 10th Prime Minister for full five years to stop the national decline and to start the long process to make Malaysia great again

There is a fake social media message in circulation which said: “Lim Kit Siang ramal Anwar akan tumbang dalam tempoh setahun”.
I never said such a thing.
Hadi Awang has violated the Rukun Negara in his post-15GE diatribe against the DAP — in particular four of the five Rukun Negara principles
I am as surprised as anybody else at the latest diatribe against the DAP by the PAS President, Hadi Awang, accusing the “creedless and immoral DAP” of Islamophobia.
He has violated Rukun Negara in his post-15GE diatribe against the DAP — in particular four of the five Rukun Negara principles on loyalty to King and country, Supremacy of the Constitution, the Rule of Law and Courtesy and Morality.
Can all political coalitions and parties agree that Malaysia should be the first nation in the world to deal with the bane of the information era — the toxic politics of lies, fear, hate, race, and religion?
The 15th General Election on November 19, 2022 has given rise to an “unity government” but can all political coalitions and political parties agree that Malaysia should be the first nation in the world to deal with the bane of the information era — the toxic politics of lies, fear, hate, race, and religion — which could destroy Malaysia or reduce it to a third-rate, failed, and divided nation in another three or four decades?
There is no guarantee that the task for a national reset by returning to the nation-building principles the nation’s founding fathers enshrined in the Malaysian Constitution and the Rukun Negara will succeed nor is it a mission which could be accomplished by one Prime Minister or in one general election, as it will take three or four decades.
Why is the Police taking so long to investigate Meta allegation of police “troll farm” or we do have a police “troll farm” operating without the IGP’s knowledge or consent?
The Inspector-General of Police, Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said investigations are still ongoing into a report by Meta that it had removed more than 600 “troll farms” from Facebook and Instagram accounts linked to the local police.
He said: “We have denied the report. I have instructed the Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) to look into this. Read the rest of this entry »
Three examples of “toxic politics”

In his National Day Open Letter to fellow Malaysian, he wrote:

Annuar Musa should not make “brave” statements about being more proactive in tacking cybercrimes when he continues to be dumb since the revelation a month ago that the Malaysian police are running a “troll farm”
The Minister for Communications and Multimedia, Annuar Musa should not make “brave” statements about being more proactive in tacking cybercimes when he continues to be dumb since the revelation a month ago that the Malaysian Police are running a troll farm.
Does the police running a troll farm come within the definition of what Annuar said in Malacca yesterday that the government would take “offensive, defensive and advocacy measures” in taking the country’s cyber security issues? Read the rest of this entry »
In tribute of Dr. Chen Man Hin (5): Malaysia at the crossroads – to go forward or to go backwards

Yesterday, I referred to a document which recently came into my possession – the statement I made to the police while in police custody at the Kuala Selangor Police Station lock-up under the Internal Security Act after I voluntarily flew bac-k to Malaysia on 18th May 1969.
This document was classified for 50 years and was declassified on 24th February 2020.

Hacking of the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister’s Telegram accounts most deplorable but no justification for four-day failure by police and government to provide strong and proper response to serious Meta allegations that the police running a troll farm to spread fake news and false information
The hacking of the Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri and the Foreign Minister, Saifuddin Abdullah’s Telegram accounts is most deplorable but they are no justification for four-day failure by the police and the government to provide a strong and proper response to the serious Meta allegations that the police is running a troll farm to spread fake news and false information.
Why is the government not prepared to declare that it will be a good digital citizen in the information era, and will not only protect Malaysians from any cyber warfare from any quarter, the government will not abuse its powers, responsibility and trust in the information age and will never conduct any form of intrusion into the personal space of its citizens, as running a troll farm to spread fake news and false information. Three-day Police silence after a weak and unconvincing denial is as good as admission of guilt of running a troll farm in a digital age where there is a new culture and ecosystem based on speed

Police denial of “troll farm link” weak and unconvincing – call for public inquiry headed by a judge or former judge to investigate the serious allegation
The police denial of a claim by social media giant Meta that implicated it in attempts to manipulate public discourse by setting up a “troll farm” is weak and unconvincing.
I call for a public inquiry headed by a judge or former judge to investigate the serious allegation by Meta. Read the rest of this entry »
Najib is up to his tricks again, encouraged by Marcos Jr’s presidential electoral success in the Philippines, spreading false allegation against his opponents by his army of cybertroopers

Former Prime Minister Najib Razak is up to his tricks again, encouraged by Marcos Junior’s presidential electoral success in the Philippines, spreading false allegation against his opponents by his army of cybertroopers.
He accused me of inciting the Malaysian public by questioning whether Malaysia will suffer the same fate as Sri Lanka, when I asked whether the houses of the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Malaysia will be set on fire by angry protestors as happened in Sri Lanka last week. Pakatan Harapan parties must be ready and prepared as the 15GE will be a “social media war”

The triumph of social media disinformation and internet lies in the May 9 Philippines Presidential election, resulting in the landslide victory of Ferdinand Marcos Jr, the son and namesake of the late Philippines dictator and kleptocrat, must be a lesson for Malaysia.
With more than 31 million votes for Marcos Jr. while the opposition leader and Vice President Leni Robredo garnering less than half of the front-runners’ votes, Filipinos are bracing for six years of the “dark side of history”.

Malaysians must learn to differentiate between truth and lies if the nation is not to degenerate to become a failed state in the next few decades

Activist Haris Ibrahim hit the nail on the head when he said that a nation cannot be built on lies.
It is not that there were no lies and fake news in the public square in the early years of Malaysia, but the advent of the social media with billions of humans plugged in one instant 24/7 global information stream has created an unprecedented crisis of trust in human history. Malacca General Election the messiest general election in Malaysian history for six decades with the most number of candidates likely to lose their deposits
The Malacca General Election is the messiest general election in Malaysian history for six decades, with the most number of candidates likely to lose their deposits.
There are 112 candidates vying for 28 Malacca State Assembly seats. There will be three-cornered fights in 11 seats, four-way contests in nine, five-cornered battles in five and six-way fights in three.
Although it is a Malacca state general election, it will have far-reaching political future implications for the future of Malaysia and may even decide whether Ismail
Sabri will Prime Minister for the shortest term – shorter than the term served by his “backdoor” predecessor, Muhyiddin Yassin. Read the rest of this entry »
Was the Emergency (Essential Powers) (No. 2) Ordinance 2021 approved by the Cabinet before it became law today?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)
I welcome the statement by the Co-coordinating Minister for National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin that he has spoken to inspector-general of police Abdul Hamid Bador on the issue of whistle-blowers who expose shortcomings in the ongoing vaccination exercise with regard to the emergency ordinance on fake news pertaining to Covid-19 and the emergency proclamation.
This raises seven important questions:
First, whether and when the Emergency (Essential Powers) (No. 2) Ordinance 2021 – which came into effect today and provides for a fine of up to RM100,000, a jail term of up to three years or both, for those who create, publish or distribute fake news – was presented to the Cabinet for approval?
