My first 81st birthday wish is for people of Johore representing Malaysians to tell the world on March 12 that Malaysians are capable of differentiating between right and wrong, what is corruption and abuses of power and what is not

(Versi BM)

I thank all Malaysians who send me greetings on my 81st birthday yesterday.

I have two 81st birthday wishes.

My first wish is for the people of Johore, representing Malaysians, to tell the world on March 12 that Malaysians are capable of differentiating between what is right and wrong, what is corruption and abuses of power and what is not. Read the rest of this entry »

Johor voters must vote not only for Johor, but for Malaysia and future generations to ensure that Malaysia can become a world-class great nation by Malaysia’s Centennial in 2063

DAP Johor Chairman Liew Chin Tong said in his speech just now that UMNO wants a landslide victory in the Johor general election to bring about an early 15th general election.

The Johor general election is therefore not only about Johor but about Malaysia and the future of our children and children’s children in the coming decades – whether Malaysia can become a better country as to become a world-class great nation before Malaysia’s Centennial in 2063

If it is true that only some 1,000 voters have registered as postal voters when there are 200,000 Johor voters in Singapore, I call on Election Commission to extend the online registration for a week or it will be the single biggest IT failure in the world

(Versi BM)

It has been reported that only some 1,000 voters have registered as postal voters in Singapore when there are 200,000 Johor voters there – representing a shocking half per cent.

If this is true, then it qualifies to be the single biggest IT failure in the world.

200,000 Johor voters in Singapore must vote to ensure that the people of Johor, representing the people of Malaysia, do not become suckers twice

(Versi BM)

In Part One of my Open Letter to the 200,000 Johor voters in Singapore yesterday, I asked the 200,000 voters to register as postal voters as tomorrow, Feb. 18, is the last day of the registration exercise by the Election Commission.

I have also asked the Election Commission to extend its registration of postal voters by a week from Feb. 18 to Feb. 25, which should pose no problem in the Internet Age, but as to whether the Election Commission would agree is not known now. Read the rest of this entry »

The Johore state general election is about whether Malaysia can do a national turnaround to stop the decline of last half-a-century and start the arduous task to become a world-class great nation by Malaysia’s Centennial in 2063

(Versi BM)

I was born, bred and schooled in Batu Pahat, Johore although in my political demonization, I was accused of being China-born and swam to Malaysia when I was 18 years old.

After secondary schooling in Batu Pahat, I worked in Singapore as a journalist for nearly five years.

I was never involved in any form of politics in Singapore although I was elected Secretary-General of the Singapore National Union of Journalists.

But throughout my stay and work in Singapore, I never felt at home in Singapore as I wanted to be back in Malaya. Read the rest of this entry »

What the political comeback of a convicted criminal for corruption as the 10th or 11th Prime Minister of Malaysia would mean?

(Versi BM)

When I asked yesterday who will be UMNO’s Prime Minister-designate after the 15th General Election, I was accused of being too obsessed with Najib Razak.

I was not.

The political comeback of a convicted criminal for corruption as the 10th or 11th Prime Minister would have serious implications for the future of Malaysia. Read the rest of this entry »

Will MCA contest in only ten seats in 2022 Johor state general election when in 2018 it fielded 15 candidates?

UMNO has stated that it wants to contest at least 42 out of the 56 state assembly seats in the upcoming Johore state general election.

Will this leave MCA will the lowest number of 10 candidates in the Johore state general election, when MCA fielded 15 candidates in the 2018 General Election? Read the rest of this entry »

Is the 15th General Election imminent?

As there has been a lot of sabre-rattling by political parties in the second backdoor government in the nation’s history, with the Bersatu and PAS Presidents jointly declaring that their support for the Ismail Sabri federal government was “conditional” and the PAS President asserting that the Johore state general election was engineered by the UMNO “court cluster”, the question uppermost in the minds of many is whether the 15th national general election is imminent.

As far as whether the 15GE would be held contemporaneously with the Johore state general election, my answer is in the negative. Read the rest of this entry »

The Johore general election should be the start of a second mission to save Malaysia from becoming the Venezuela of ASEAN

Contrary to public and international expectations, Malaysians united and rose on May 9, 2018 in the 14th General Election and saved Malaysia from becoming the Venezuela of ASEAN.

Thanks to the Sheraton Move conspiracy in February 2020 and two backdoor and illegitimate governments, we are back to the slippery slope of corruption and the route to become the Venezuela of ASEAN. Read the rest of this entry »

Make Johore Dream the Malaysian Dream to restore strong institutions by upholding Rukun Negara principles of constitutional monarchy, vibrant parliamentary democracy, doctrine of separation of powers, the rule of law, a free press, respect for human rights and the multi-racial, multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural character of Malaysia, least corruption and an accountable public service with integrity and efficiency

(Versi BM)

As a Johorean, I want to see the forthcoming Johore state general election the start of the process to reverse the national decline of last half a century from a nearly an economic “tiger” to the trajectory of a kleptocracy, kakistocracy and a failed state.

This is the Johore Dream.

We must make the Johore Dream the Malaysian Dream to restore strong institutions by upholding the Rukun Negara principles of constitutional monarchy, vibrant parliamentary democracy, doctrine of separation of powers, the rule of law, a free press, respect for human rights and the multi-racial, multi-lingual, multi-cultural and multi-religious character of Malaysia, least corruption and an accountable public service with integrity and efficiency.

Johore voters must be clear about the direction of their future as there may be 280 to 300 candidates vying for election in the Johore state general election

(Versi BM)

The Johore voters must be clear about the direction of their future as there may be 280 to 300 candidates vying for election in the Johore state general election.

In Sabah general election in September 2020, there were 447 candidates vying for 73 state assembly seats in Sabah or a ratio of 6.1 candidates to one seat.

In the Malacca state general election in November 2021, 112 candidates vied for 29 state assembly seats in Malacca or a ratio of four candidates to one seat. Read the rest of this entry »

Height of irresponsibility of UMNO “court cluster” to force general election in Johore when for the last two weeks, Johor had the highest number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in all states of Malaysia

(Versi BM)

It is the height of irresponsibility of the UMNO “court cluster” to force general election in Johore when for the last two weeks, Johore had the highest number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in all the states of Malaysia.

The UMNO “court cluster” want the Johore state general election to be a rehearsal of the 15th General Election which, they hope, will restore UMNO political hegemony with the return of UMNO hegemon/kleptocrats to power – and possibly a convicted criminal of corruption as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Allowing teachers and Kemas staff to be involved in politics is not to raise educational standards but to win the war between the ‘ministers’ cluster’ and the ‘court cluster’ in UMNO

Yesterday, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri announced that with instant effect, all school teachers and Kemas staff nationwide are allowed to get involved in politics

This is a decision that was taken not to raise educational standards but to win the war between the ‘ministers’ cluster’ and the ‘court cluster’ in UMNO.

Sarawak general election results show that if there is PH-PSB co-operation, DAP will have seven and PSB six Sarawak State Assembly seats instead of the present two for DAP and four for PSB

(Versi BM)

The Sarawak general election results on Dec. 18, 2021 show that if there is Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) co-operation, the DAP will have seven and PSB six Sarawak State Assembly seats instead of the present two for DAP and four for PSB.

DAP would have won five more seats apart from Padungan and Pending, namely Pujut in Miri, Tanjong Batu in Bintulu, Pelawan and Bukit Assek in Sibu and Kota Sentosa in Kuching while PSB would have won two more seats in apart from Bawang Assam, Ba’kelalan, Batu Lintang and Engkilili, namely Ngemah and Simanggang. GPS should not abuse or misuse their super-majority in the Sarawak State Assembly or they will suffer the fate that befell Abdullah Badawi’s over 90 per cent super-majority in Parliament in the 2004 general election – the beginning of the end of UMNO political hegemony

(Versi BM)

There is a lot of gloom and doom in the political scenario in Sarawak as if the end of the world has arrived.

I am more sanguine. As Nelson Mandela said: “Do not judge me by my success, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.” Read the rest of this entry »

Sarawak general election a setback for DAP which must learn from the mistakes but DAP will not be deterred from the Malaysian Dream of making Malaysia a world-class great nation before Malaysia’s Centennial in 2063

(Versi BM)

I was in Keningau yesterday and Pensiangan this morning to celebrate an early Christmas as there was no Christmas celebration last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I had campaigned in the Sarawak general election and I had hoped that DAP will win half-a-dozen seats at the end of the campaign. The election results produced two DAP seats – Padungan and Pending.

Call on Sarawakian voters tomorrow to stand up and lead Malaysians in “Battle for New Malaysia 2.0” in the next 40 and 50 years to make Malaysia a world-class great nation

(Versi BM)

The 12th Sarawak general election on Dec. 18, 2021 has turned out to be the most important Sarawak general election in the history of Malaysia although it started off as an ordinary state general election.

Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021 changed the whole scenario as on that day the Federal Constitution was amended with the unanimous support of Members of Parliament on both sides of the aisle to undo the injustices of the 1976 Constitution Amendment Act which made Sarawakians lose their rights under Malaysia Agreement 1963 for half-a-century in terms of fair financial allocations, meaningful state autonomy especially in education and health, fair apportionment of oil funds and equitable development prospects. History has proved DAP right and Sarawak government leaders represented by GPS wrong with the passage of the 2021 Constitution Amendment Bill to undo 45 years of injustices of the 1976 Constitution Amendment Act

(Versi BM)

History has proved DAP right and Sarawak government leaders represented by GPS wrong with the passage of the 2021 Constitution Amendment Bill in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, 14th December 2021 to undo the injustices of the 1976 Constitution Amendment Act.

GPS leaders cannot completely blame the Federal Government for the 1976 Constitution Amendment Act which placed Sarawak at a considerable disadvantage for half-a-century as the Barisan Nasional Sarawak government leaders had fully voted for the 1976 Constitution Amendment Act and must bear half the responsibility for the “stepchild” treatment of Sarawak for the past half-century. The 2021 Constitution Amendment Bill is the initial fulfilment of Impian Malaysia project launched by the DAP with over 100 health, education and infrastructure projects in Sarawak in the five years from 2013 to 2018.

The passage of the 2021 Constitution Amendment Bill in Dewan Rakyat on 14th December 2021 is the first step, and not the last step, in the restoration of the full citizenship rights of the people of Sarawak with regard to equitable financial allocations, autonomy for education and health, just share of oil rights and fair share of the development funds for the upliftment of Sarawak.
