Johor voters must vote not only for Johor, but for Malaysia and future generations to ensure that Malaysia can become a world-class great nation by Malaysia’s Centennial in 2063
DAP Johor Chairman Liew Chin Tong said in his speech just now that UMNO wants a landslide victory in the Johor general election to bring about an early 15th general election.
The Johor general election is therefore not only about Johor but about Malaysia and the future of our children and children’s children in the coming decades – whether Malaysia can become a better country as to become a world-class great nation before Malaysia’s Centennial in 2063

If it is true that only some 1,000 voters have registered as postal voters when there are 200,000 Johor voters in Singapore, I call on Election Commission to extend the online registration for a week or it will be the single biggest IT failure in the world
It has been reported that only some 1,000 voters have registered as postal voters in Singapore when there are 200,000 Johor voters there – representing a shocking half per cent.
If this is true, then it qualifies to be the single biggest IT failure in the world.

In Part One of my Open Letter to the 200,000 Johor voters in Singapore yesterday, I asked the 200,000 voters to register as postal voters as tomorrow, Feb. 18, is the last day of the registration exercise by the Election Commission.
I have also asked the Election Commission to extend its registration of postal voters by a week from Feb. 18 to Feb. 25, which should pose no problem in the Internet Age, but as to whether the Election Commission would agree is not known now. Read the rest of this entry »

I was born, bred and schooled in Batu Pahat, Johore although in my political demonization, I was accused of being China-born and swam to Malaysia when I was 18 years old.
After secondary schooling in Batu Pahat, I worked in Singapore as a journalist for nearly five years.
I was never involved in any form of politics in Singapore although I was elected Secretary-General of the Singapore National Union of Journalists.

UMNO has stated that it wants to contest at least 42 out of the 56 state assembly seats in the upcoming Johore state general election.

Is the 15th General Election imminent?
As there has been a lot of sabre-rattling by political parties in the second backdoor government in the nation’s history, with the Bersatu and PAS Presidents jointly declaring that their support for the Ismail Sabri federal government was “conditional” and the PAS President asserting that the Johore state general election was engineered by the UMNO “court cluster”, the question uppermost in the minds of many is whether the 15th national general election is imminent.

As a Johorean, I want to see the forthcoming Johore state general election the start of the process to reverse the national decline of last half a century from a nearly an economic “tiger” to the trajectory of a kleptocracy, kakistocracy and a failed state.
This is the Johore Dream.

The Johore voters must be clear about the direction of their future as there may be 280 to 300 candidates vying for election in the Johore state general election.
In Sabah general election in September 2020, there were 447 candidates vying for 73 state assembly seats in Sabah or a ratio of 6.1 candidates to one seat.

The UMNO “court cluster” want the Johore state general election to be a rehearsal of the 15th General Election which, they hope, will restore UMNO political hegemony with the return of UMNO hegemon/kleptocrats to power – and possibly a convicted criminal of corruption as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The Sarawak general election results on Dec. 18, 2021 show that if there is Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) co-operation, the DAP will have seven and PSB six Sarawak State Assembly seats instead of the present two for DAP and four for PSB.
DAP would have won five more seats apart from Padungan and Pending, namely Pujut in Miri, Tanjong Batu in Bintulu, Pelawan and Bukit Assek in Sibu and Kota Sentosa in Kuching while PSB would have won two more seats in apart from Bawang Assam, Ba’kelalan, Batu Lintang and Engkilili, namely Ngemah and Simanggang. I was in Keningau yesterday and Pensiangan this morning to celebrate an early Christmas as there was no Christmas celebration last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
I had campaigned in the Sarawak general election and I had hoped that DAP will win half-a-dozen seats at the end of the campaign. The election results produced two DAP seats – Padungan and Pending.

The 12th Sarawak general election on Dec. 18, 2021 has turned out to be the most important Sarawak general election in the history of Malaysia although it started off as an ordinary state general election.
Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021 changed the whole scenario as on that day the Federal Constitution was amended with the unanimous support of Members of Parliament on both sides of the aisle to undo the injustices of the 1976 Constitution Amendment Act which made Sarawakians lose their rights under Malaysia Agreement 1963 for half-a-century in terms of fair financial allocations, meaningful state autonomy especially in education and health, fair apportionment of oil funds and equitable development prospects. History has proved DAP right and Sarawak government leaders represented by GPS wrong with the passage of the 2021 Constitution Amendment Bill in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday, 14th December 2021 to undo the injustices of the 1976 Constitution Amendment Act.
GPS leaders cannot completely blame the Federal Government for the 1976 Constitution Amendment Act which placed Sarawak at a considerable disadvantage for half-a-century as the Barisan Nasional Sarawak government leaders had fully voted for the 1976 Constitution Amendment Act and must bear half the responsibility for the “stepchild” treatment of Sarawak for the past half-century. The passage of the 2021 Constitution Amendment Bill in Dewan Rakyat on 14th December 2021 is the first step, and not the last step, in the restoration of the full citizenship rights of the people of Sarawak with regard to equitable financial allocations, autonomy for education and health, just share of oil rights and fair share of the development funds for the upliftment of Sarawak.

Sarawak government MPs cheered when the 2021 Constitution Amendment Bill was passed yesterday, but they also cheered when the 1976 Constitution Amendment Bill was passed 45 years ago causing two generations of Sarawakians to lose their basic rights to citizenship and development for half a century.
The only MPs who opposed the 1976 Constitution Amendment Bill were the nine Members of Parliament from the DAP.
