Five proposals to kick-start the most memorable Parliamentary meeting in Malaysian history in a fortnight’s time

I agree with Musa Hitam that time is not on the side of the Anwar unity government which is why the seven-week Parliament in a fortnight’s time must be the most memorable one in Malaysian history to start institutional reforms

(Versi BM)

I agree with former Prime Minister Musa Hitam that time is not on the side of the Anwar unity government, which is why the seven-week Parliament in a fortnight’s time must be a most memorable one in Malaysian history to start institutional reforms.

In his talk on “Resetting the Malaysian economy” in Parliament on Friday night, Musa said the time for the Anwar unity government to talk about the various issues faced by the country has passed, and it is now time to take proactive action to solve them.

Malaysia has lost out to five countries since the first annual TI CPI 1995 but will Malaysia lose out to another eight countries, including Indonesia, China and India by the end of this decade?

I dread the worldwide release of Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2022 on Tuesday.

The response by Selangor PAS begs the question whether its President, Hadi Awang, respects all cultures, faiths, and traditions of other races and supports the study of all civilisations and not just Islamic civilisation in schools

(Versi BM)

In response to an Amanah memorandum to Selangor Ruler for a probe against PAS President, Hadi Awang for religious extremism, the Selangor PAS yesterday claimed it was against religious and racial extremism, and that it respects all cultures, faiths, and traditions of other races.

One way to prove that the “Green wave” is a myth and the future belongs to a unity government is for Pakatan Harapan to perform better in the six state general elections when compared to 2018 GE

(Versi BM)

With the establishment of the “unity government” under Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister, Malaysians celebrated the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit with hope that Malaysia can be better tomorrow — more just, more equal and more prosperous, and less corrupt, less violation of human rights, and less scandalous.

Hadi has upped the ante and from making the preposterous allegation that DAP is promoting Islamophobia, he is making the even more preposterous allegation that the majority of OIC countries are promoting Islamophobia

Anwar’s two reassuring speeches yesterday that he will focus on the Malaysia returning to the basics where the people know what is right and wrong, how to unite Malaysians in a plural society, and what should be the Malaysian Dream of all Malaysians

I attended two Chinese New Year (CNY) events in Penang yesterday — one the CNY Open House of the Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow at SPICE, and the other Kenduri Rakyat Bersama Perdana Menteri in Bukit Mertajam — where the Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim was the main speaker.

Support for Anwar’s condemnation of Swedish-Danish far-right politician Rasmus Paludan for burning a copy of holy Quran in Stockholm

(Versi BM)

I fully support the condemnation of the Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, of the Swedish-Danish far-right politician Rasmus Paludan for burning a copy of the holy Quran in Stockholm on Sunday.

It is not only a blatant defilement of Islam’s holy book, but an unacceptable hate speech which cannot find any justification as “freedom of speech” in any civilized society, just as there can be no justification for any act of arson.

A Royal Commission of Inquiry on how Malaysia can, in Tunku Abdul Rahman’s words, be “a beacon of light in a difficult and distracted world”

Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman had hoped that Malaysia, with its multi-racial, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural characteristics can be “a beacon of light in a difficult and distracted world”.

Malaysia is at the confluence of four great civilisations — Malay/Islamic, Chinese, Indian, and Western — and there is no reason if Malaysians can leverage on the values and virtues of the four great human civilisations in the world, why Malaysia cannot be “a beacon of light in a difficult and distracted world”.

Restore the National Compass lost after six decades of nationhood

Happy Chinese New Year to all Malaysians.

The biggest challenge in the Chinese New Year and in all ethnic and religious festivities for this year is to restore the National Compass lost after six decades of nationhood.

There is a fourth reason why Muhyiddin is not the Parliamentary Opposition Leader — his dismal record in fighting corruption when he was first “backdoor” Prime Minister

(Versi BM)

I have given three reasons why Muhyiddin Yassin is not the Parliamentary Opposition Leader although he has not given up hope to become prime Minister again.

Will Hadi learn from the Penang PAS Youth leader to retract and apologise for lies and falsehoods which he could not substantiate like his preposterous allegations that DAP is anti-Malay, anti-Islam, communist, and promoting Islamophobia?

The question today is whether the PAS President, Hadi Awang will follow in the footsteps of the Penang PAS Youth leader to retract and apologise for lies and falsehoods which he could not substantiate like his preposterous allegations that DAP is anti-Malay, anti-Islam, communist, and promoting Islamophobia?

Permatang Pauh MP and Penang PAS Youth Chief Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan yesterday apologised over a statement uploaded on his Facebook account saying non-Muslims were working to bring down Islam.

DAP’s challenge is to ensure that Malaysia’s “masyarakat madani” under the Anwar unity government is one that will make Malaysia a first-rate world-class nation guided by democracy, the rule of law, good governance, anti-corruption, and a global economic and education system

I wish Kepong DAP happy and productive Chinese New Year.

We are in challenging times. We must ensure that the Anwar unity government can last five years, but even more important, we must ensure that Malaysia’s “masyarakat madani” under the Anwar unity government is one that will make Malaysia a first-rate world-class nation guided by democracy, the rule of law, good governance, anti-corruption, and a global economic and education system.

Hadi has sullied the good name of Malaysia in international society, and he should prove that the Federal Government and five State Governments are promoting Islamophobia, or he should recant, admit his mistakes and retract his allegation that the DAP is promoting Islamophobia

(Versi BM)

PAS President Hadi Awang has sullied the good name of Malaysia in international society, and he should prove that the Federal Government and five State Governments are promoting Islamophobia, or he should recant, admit his mistakes and retract his allegation that the DAP is promoting Islamophobia.

DAP has four Federal Ministers, 40 Members of Parliament, a state Chief Minister, a state Deputy Chief Minister, 14 State Executive Councillors, and 91 state Assembly persons. It is part of the Federal Government and five State Governments.

Hadi should substantiate his allegations that the DAP is anti-Malay, anti-Islam, communist, and promoting Islamophobia or retract his allegations, or be proved to be an irresponsible and immoral political leader who is prepared to make all sorts of preposterous allegations to serve his own political interest

(Versi BM)

The Amanah President, Mohamad Sabu, had called the PAS President, Hadi Awnag as the “biggest liar in the world”.

Speaking at a Kuala Kedah ceramah on Thursday night, Mohamad Sabu said PAS won a large number of seats in the 15th General Election by creating a false perception against the Pakatan Harapan and said:

“In GE15, PAS won big because PAS is the biggest liar in the world.

“The biggest liar is also its president Hadi Awang.

“He is an ulama but in his ripe old age, he has become a liar and the Malays believed his lies.”

Three days have passed and there is no rejoinder from Hadi to Sabu.

We were educated to be Malayans and later Malaysians six decades ago and it came as a shock that the Deputy Prime Minister said in 2010 that he was Malay first and Malaysian second

I was in Batu Pahat on Friday night to celebrate the 98th birthday of the my brother-in-law, Ho Lai Chee, which was also a reunion for me with Lai Chee’s far-flung offspring from Sydney, Singapore, and London.

Early before dawn on Saturday, I spent two hours walking the streets of Batu Pahat, to smell the air and revisit the sights of the town where I spent my primary and secondary years, starting from Cheng Siu Chinese primary school to Batu Pahat English School and then Batu Pahat High School.

Malaysia’s greatest paradox — national unity in a plural Malaysia

It is Malaysia’s greatest paradox — national unity in a plural Malaysia.

We have been talking about “national unity” for six decades but we have never been more divided today than in Malaysia’s history.

Is Hadi guilty of “Malaysia-phobia”, distrust, and phobia of all things which are multi-racial, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural?

(Versi BM)

The DAP Penang State Assemblyman for Pengkalan Kota Daniel Ooi is right — Malaysia does not want “moral police” to enforce their moral laws on others.

The question is whether the PAS President, Hadi Awang is suffering from “Malaysiaphobia” — a distrust or phobia of Malaysia as a plural society with all its multi-racial, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural characteristics.
