Malaysia may overtake China with more cumulative total of Covid-19 cases before Dewan Rakyat adjourns on Thursday, December 17

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

On December 1, I asked whether Malaysia will overtake China with more cumulative total of Covid-19 cases before or after the end of the present Parliament meeting – Dewan Rakyat on Dec. 17 and Dewan Negara on Dec. 29, 2020.

Yesterday, Malaysia had a daily increase of 1,937 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total to 82,246 cases.

Parliament’s greatest failure will be its inability to set up two Select Committees – one on the Covid-19 Pandemic and the other on Corruption and Integrity

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Dewan Rakyat has a last week left for the November/December 2020 meeting before its adjournment — i.e. next Monday to Thursday, Dec. 14–17, 2020.

I regard the greatest failure of the November/December meeting of Parliament is its failure to set up two Select Committees — one on the Covid-19 pandemic and the other on Corruption and Integrity.

In fact, Parliament would be gravely negligence and irresponsible in not setting these two Select Committees, reflecting the Muhyiddin Cabinet as its kakistocratic worst. Read the rest of this entry »

Support for Prof Tajuddin’s stand that Sanusi should be replaced as Kedah Mentri Besar as he is not fit to hold any office in a plural society

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I support the stand of Professor Dr. Mohd Tajuddin Mohd Rasdi that Sanusi Md Nor should be replaced as Kedah Mentri Besar as he is not fit to hold any office in a plural society.

Two days ago, I had asked whether the PAS leadership is prepared to reprimand Sanusi for making rude, insensitive, unacceptable racial slur in a plural society when using the toddy analogy against critics over the demolition of a Hindu temple. Read the rest of this entry »

Parliamentary calendar should be adjusted to allow for a motion of confidence as a result of Fitch Ratings downgrade to be debated before the 2021 Budget is voted on December 16

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The call by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) presidential council for a confidence motion on the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, following the Fitch Ratings downgrade on Malaysia’s sovereign credit rating should be supported by all Members of Parliament, including from the Perikatan Nasional government MPs.

The Fitch Ratings downgrade cannot be simply ignored by the government and Parliament as the credibility and legitimacy of Muhyiddin as the eighth Prime Minister and his jumbo-sized Cabinet are at stake and they can only be secured whether by a confidence or no-confidence motion, so that the appellation of the Muhyiddin government as a “backdoor” government can be put to rest.

Is the PAS leadership prepared to reprimand the Kedah Mentri Besar and PAS Kedah Assemblyman for Jeneri, Sanusi Md Nor for making rude, insensitive, unacceptable racial slur in a plural society when using the toddy analogy against critics over the demolition of a Hindu temple in Kuala Kedah?

Has the PAS leadership no concept of right and wrong or just and unjust? Read the rest of this entry »

Fitch’s downgrade is an indictment of Muhyiddin’s 2021 Budget

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Fitch’s downgrade of Malaysia’s long-term foreign-currency issuer default rating (IDR) from A- to BBB+ is an indictment of the 2021 Budget presented by the Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz to Parliament early November.

I have read the Fitch Report and the statement from the Minister of Finance. Read the rest of this entry »

It is most regrettable that for his own political survival as the eighth Prime Minister, Muhyuddin has compromised the 1957 Merdeka Constitution, Malaysia Agreement 1963 and 1970 Rukun Negara

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

It is most regrettable that for his own political survival as the eighth Prime Minister Malaysia and to avoid becoming the Malaysian Prime Minister for the shortest term, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has compromised the 1957 Merdeka Constitution, the 1963 Malaysia Agreement and the 1970 Rukun Negara.

Let me remind Muhyiddin of the constitutional position and the historical records of the nation with regard to secularism. Read the rest of this entry »

Malaysia will overtake China in cumulative total of Covid-19 cases in less than two weeks if Covid-19 cases in Malaysia continues to increase as in the past week, which averages 1,210 cases a day.

Perak State Assembly makes world history — proposer and seconder of confidence motion voted against their own motion

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Perak State Assembly has made world history — with the proposer and seconder of the confidence motion on the Perak Mentri Besar, Ahmad Faizal Azumu, both voting against their own motion.

The confidence vote was moved  by  the UMNO Assemblyman for Pengkalan Bharu Abdul Manaf Hashim and seconded by the UMNO Assemblyman for Kenering Mohd Tarmizi Idris, but both voted against the motion.

The result of the vote is 48-10 against  the motion and a new Perak Mentri Besar will have to be found.

It would be interesting to find out where else in the legislatures of the world does the proposer and seconder vote against their own motion.

It was kakistocracy in Malaysia at its worst – with three examples yesterday especially assigning observers to tellers during parliamentary division voting which is a declaration that Members of Parliament in Malaysia cannot be trusted to carry out simple tasks.

It was kakistocracy in Malaysia at its worst – with three examples yesterday especially assigning observers to tellers during parliamentary division voting which is a declaration that Members of Parliament in Malaysia cannot be trusted to carry out simple tasks.

This assignment must be the first of its kind in Commonwealth Parliaments but it sends out the wrong messages, firstly, that MPs cannot be depended upon to carry out simple tasks; and secondly, which is more serious, that MPs cannot be trusted at all! Read the rest of this entry »

Call on Muhyiddin Cabinet to extend Parliament meeting by another day to allow 2019 Suhakam annual report to be debated to prove that it is not a kakistocracy afraid of human rights issues

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I call on the Muhyiddin Cabinet to extend Parliament meeting by another day to allow the 2019 Suhakam annual report to be debated to prove that it is not a kakistocracy afraid of human rights issue, as well as to debate various motions to refer Members of Parliament to the Privileges Committee for their breaches of parliamentary privileges in the current meeting.

It would be most unfortunate if the country is wedged between a kleptocracy until May 9, 2018 general election and the kakistocracy resulting from the “Sheraton Move” plot in February 2020 which toppled the Pakatan Harapan Government which had tried to shake Malaysia off from the trajectory of a failed state, kleptocracy and kakistocracy. 2020 has been shameful year for Malaysian Parliament as it repeatedly put the clock of parliamentary scrutiny of the Executive back instead of going forward like other Commonwealth Parliaments in parliamentary reforms

The year 2020 has proved to be a shameful year for the Malaysian Parliament as it repeatedly put the clock of parliamentary scrutiny of the Executive back instead of going forwards like other Commonwealth Parliaments in parliamentary reforms.

Height of parliamentary irresponsibility for Khairuddin to be in Parliament, not to reply on his Ministry’s allocation in the 2021 Budget but to vote

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

It is the height of parliamentary irresponsibility for Khairuddin Aman Razali, the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, to be in Parliament yet did not reply in the debate on his Ministry’s allocation in the 2021 Budget but only come into the Chamber to vote when a Division was called on his Ministry’s allocations.

This is the most irresponsible behaviour of a Minister in Parliament in the six decades of Malaysian Parliament where a Minister dare not face the MPs to answer criticisms about his Ministry, but only to vote. Read the rest of this entry »

Will Malaysia overtake China with more cumulative total of Covid-19 cases before or after the end of the present Parliament meeting?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Today, December 1, 2020, marks one year since the first known patient showed symptoms of the disease in the Hubei provincial capital of Wuhan, China, according to a key study on the Covid-19 epidemic in the Lancet medical journal.

The question we should be asking is whether Malaysia will overtake China with more cumulative total of Covid-19 cases before or after the end of the present Parliament meetng – Dewan Rakyat on Dec. 17 and Dewan Negara on Dec. 23, 2020.

The Covid-19 epidemic started in China. Read the rest of this entry »
