Malaysia must stop setting dubious new records in the Covid-19 pandemic if we are to return to normality and start on economic and national recovery.
Yesterday we set three dubious new records in Covid-19 pandemic when we firstly, set new peaks for daily new Covid-19 cases (24,599 cases) and daily Covid-19 deaths (393 deaths of which 100 were BID – brought-in-dead) and secondly, Malaysia overtook Chile in having more cumulative total of Covid-19 cases and is now ranked No. 24 among nations with most cumulative total of Covid-19 cases. We took more than a year to reach the first 176,180 Covid-19 cases on January 22, 2021 and 17 months to reach the first 2,040 Covid-19 deaths on May 19, 2021, but these figures are now happening in just eight days.

If there are only two names for the position of Prime Minister, then one can be Prime Minister and the other Deputy Prime Minister to form a War Cabinet to combine all political forces in a War Parliament to gain control of the war against Covid-19 pandemic and to pave the way for the 15th General Election in 18 months’ time.
The War Cabinet should reflect this parliamentary unity to turn the tides of defeat in the 20-month war against the Covid-19 pandemic with a new policy and strategy to gain control of the Covid-19 pandemic and restore pubic hope, trust and confidence in a “whole-of-society” approach.

The appointment of Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu as special adviser to the Prime Minister, Muhyiddin Yassin with the status of Minister raises the question whether Muhyiddin is going to have a parallel Cabinet of Special Advisers with Ministerial status.
