Yesterday, I issued a short five-paragraph statement which tantamounts to a declaration that I will never launder Najib Razak’s reputation, and it is a pity that S. Thayaparan, who wrote COMMENT piece “Kit Siang helps Najib launder his reputation” today did not read or chose to ignore the statement.
An example that I will never launder Najib’ reputation was what happened in the Johore state general election early this year, where I said that the DAP MP Damansara Tony Pua went too far in attacking the Foon Yew school board of governors but he was right in condemning Najib Razak in using Foon Yew to exculpate his kleptocracy. I can understand the horror of some Malaysians at my statement on Sunday that I was prepared to work with Najib Razak for the good the country and not for a portion of the 1MDB riches but first all, Najib must condemn the 1MDB scandal and declare his stand against Malaysia becoming a kleptocracy. Has Tok Mat bitten off more than he could chew?

Has UMNO Deputy President Mohamad Hasan bitten off more than he could chew in his interview with Asia Times, which is not helped by the explanation of the newest UMNO Supreme Council member, Isham Jalil, that Tok Mat was merely preparing himself for the worst-case scenario in Najib Razak’s corruption trlal.
Tok Mat is correct about the right of everyone to a fair trial but this cannot hide the fact that his protest that he had been misquoted as saying that Najib should go to jail for his role in the 1MDB scandal is not confirmed by anyone listening to the full tape recording. Strange things are happening now in Barisan Nasional and UMNO.
Firstly, the bombshell of the sacked UMNO Supreme Council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman that a group of senior and influential UMNO leaders had met in his house in 2020 and agreed that Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should go as UMNO President and brokered a deal that would see Zahid step down amicably but UMNO Deputy President Mohamad Hasan and former Prime Minister/UMNO President Najib Razak later reneged and backed off. There may not be a multi-billion dollar 1MDB scandal equated as “kleptocracy at its worst” if the recommendations of the Ahmad Nordin Bumiputera Malaysia Finance (BMF) Inquiry Committee had been acted on by the 1986 Mahathir government.

I commend the forthright, appropriate, patriotic and courageous statement by the MP for Pasir Gudang, Hassan Abdul Karim following the outstanding speech by the Yang di Pertuan Agong that all religions denounce corruption which is a “cancer that can ruin civilisations” at the convocation ceremony of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Shah Alam.
There is nothing more appropriate now than to remind Malaysians of the bane of corruption, in view of the following developments:

I believe the second Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Razak, will not believe in Najib Razak’s explanation of innocence of corruption.
I believe in the innocence of Lim Guan Eng in the corruption charges against him.
Would Tun Razak, if alive today, believe in his son’s plea of innocence of corruption?

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Forum 2022 has raised even more questions about the anti-corruption campaign in Malaysia.
Former chief justice Mohamad Raus Sharif at the third Malaysia Anti-Corruption Forum said that the appointment of a politician as the chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had cast doubt on its credibility.

Judge Azimah Omar yesterday gave a great judgement in former Attorney-General Apandi Ali’s defamation suit against me.
Although I have won the defamation suit instituted by the former Attorney-General, I still intrigued by the thought why in the last decade, nobody had emerged to testify as to the identity of the Arab royalty donor who gave the funds in ex-Prime Minister Najib Razak’s personal bank accounts. Yesterday, I said Malaysians need new political aspirations, and “If Najib loves Malaysia, he will contribute to this process of returning Malaysia to the founding nation-building principles our founding fathers, including his father, had agreed when Malaysia was founded – and helped remove the national scar where Malaysia was identified with ‘kleptocracy at its worst’ worldwide”.
I suggested that ”there is nothing that Najib can do better than to just disappear from the political arena instead trying to be Prime Minister again”.

The Police have started investigation under Section 505(c) of the Penal Code for making a statement with the intention to incite anyone or race and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1988 for improper use of network facilities or network service for my statement warning Malaysia not be become a Sri Lanka.
Section 505 © of the Penal Code on “Statements conducing to public mischief” states that “ Whoever makes, publishes or circulates any statement, rumour or report with intent to incite or which is likely to incite any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community of persons, shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend to two years or with fine or with both”. It has been reported that the police had begun an investigation for incitement over a tweet about public unrest in Sri Lanka over a blog posting on my website.

When Filipino voters go to the polls for the Philippines Presidential election on Monday, it will have interesting bearing on the forthcoming 15th General Election in Malaysia.
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Filipino journalist Maria Ressa has said that the Philippines presidential election is “a microcosm of a global battle for facts” as he quoted author Milan Kundera: “The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting”.

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) deputy chairperson Azizah Mohd Dun has passed the “death sentence” on my proposal that the PAC investigate the 2002 Scorpene submarine corruption case and to establish the motive of the murder of the Mongolian, Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Former Prime Minister, Najib Razak claimed that the Pakatan Harapan government investigation in 2018 did not find any evidence that he was involved in the 2002 Scorpene submarine deal, adding that it was a part of the opposition’s propaganda to tarnish his image.
I was never in the Pakatan Harapan government and I was not privy to any information as to the outcome of any investigation as to whether Najib, who was the Defence Minister in 2002, was involved in the 2002 Scorpene submarine scandal as I never asked the then Prime Minister, Attorney-General, the Inspector General of Police or Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) about the matter. Malaysia must be a responsible member of the international community of nations by putting to rest two grand corruption scandals – firstly, the Scorpene submarine scandal and the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu and secondly, the 1MDB scandal.
I suggested yesterday that the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) should investigate the 2002 Scorpene submarine corruption case and the murder of Altantunya Shaariibuu following the charging of the French company Thales by the French Government for complicity in bribery of the Scorpene submarine deal in Malaysia two decades ago and that the PAC can do so under Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders 77(d) which provides that the PAC can examine “(d) such other matters as the Committee may think fit, or which may be referred to the Committee by the House.”
