Opponents of DAP are clapping their hands in glee for they see DAP joining the chaos, division and disunity which had afflicted all major political parties in the last three years

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Opponents of DAP are clapping their hands in glee for they see DAP joining the chaos, division and disunity which had afflicted all major political parties in the last three years.

Until recently, the DAP has not only proved that it is the only major political party whose 42 Members of Parliament have remained intact, solid and united, spurning the “frog” culture, but the party as a whole had been purposive, disciplined and forward-looking, working for the best interests of the people and nation. If I want to betray my principles for justice, freedom, integrity and Malaysian Dream, I should have done it fifty years ago in the 1970s when I could become a Cabinet Minister in my late twenties or early thirties and not wait until I am eighty years old!

I am in the rare situation for a Malaysian – accused by extremist and irresponsible Malay politicians as anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Royalty on the one hand and by extremist and irresponsible Chinese politicians on the other as having betrayed the Malaysian Chinese rights, position and future on the other.

At present, I am probably more attacked on the Chinese social and mass media in Malaysia of having sold out the rights, position and future of the Malaysian Chinese than in the Malay social and mass media for being anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Royalty. Read the rest of this entry »

I am still waiting for evidence as to how my stand on Jawi in 2019 had betrayed the rights, interests and future of the Chinese in Malaysia or that I have changed my stand on Jawi in 1984

It is already eleven days since I declared that DAP does not have any de-Chinese, de-Malay, de-Indian, de-Kadazan or de-Iban policy, but the very opposite, wanting Malaysians to accept that they will have multiple identities – ethnic, religious, cultural, regional – but that they are first and foremost Malaysians!

I am still waiting for evidence as to how my stand on Jawi in Chinese and Tamil primary schools had betrayed the rights, interests and future of the Chinese in Malaysia or how in 2019 I had changed my stand on Jawi from that of 1984. Read the rest of this entry »

Yes, it is true that in 2019, Mahathir wanted to sack Yeo Bee Yin as Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister over the Lynas issue although this eventually did not take place

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Malaysiakini today focussed on Liew Chin Tong’s book which revealed that in 2019, the Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad wanted to sack Yeo Bee Yin as Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister over the Lynas issue although eventually this did not take place.

I was never involved in this but I learnt about it.

This incident indicates the complexities of the Pakatan Harapan government under Mahathir. Read the rest of this entry »

Lets have a honest debate about the future of Malaysia and DAP and not use lies, falsehoods and distorted sayings

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Yesterday I said that there is a movement calling for “Chinese Unite” to respond to “Malays Unite” movement, urging the Chinese voters to vote for “good Chinese” regardless of political party in the 15th General Election.

I said: “The inspiration of this surreptitious movement is from the MCA and Gerakan, which hopes to join forces with DAP members who agree with this approach.”

This has been distorted into my saying that there are DAP elements who are working with MCA and Gerakan to secretly launch a “Chinese Unity” movement to ask the voters to vote for “good Chinese” in the 15th General Election regardless of party. Read the rest of this entry »

There is a movement questioning why Gobind, Kula, Tengku Zulpuri, Ramasamy, Jagdeep, Aziz Bari, Zairil and others are DAP MPs or SAs when their constituencies should be contested by Chinese candidates

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

There is surreptitious movement questioning why Gobind, Kula, Tengku Zulpuri, Noorita Sual, Rayer, Ram Karpal, Kasthuri, Sivakumar, Mordi Bimol and Charles Santiago are DAP MPs, Ramasamy the Penang Deputy Chief Minister, Aziz Bari the Perak Opposition Leader and Jagdeep, Zairil, Ganabatirau, Arul Kumar and Veerapen State Exco Members and Rajiv, Edry, Jamaliah, Syerleena, Satees, Sivanesan, Terence Naidu, Young Syefura, Kamache, Gunasekaran, Mary Josephine, Saminathan, Ramakrishnan, Sheikh Umar and Jannie Lasimbang State Assembly persons when these constituencies should be contested by Chinese candidates.

This movement sounds the call of “Chinese unite” to respond to the “Malays unite” political call, advocating that in the 15th General Election, the Chinese voters should vote for good Chinese candidates regardless of political party. Read the rest of this entry »

The issue is not Mahathir but how to unite our diverse peoples as Malaysians to fulfil the Malaysian Dream as a world-class great nation

Former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad yesterday explained his “DAP sometimes extreme” remark which became fodder for those who are out to tar the DAP leadership and me has having sold out Chinese rights and interests.

For the past 55 years, I have been demonised as anti-Malay, anti-Islam, anti-Royalty, a communist, cause of May 13, 1969 riots in Kuala Lumpur, a non-Malaysian who came from China when I was 17 years old, when all these were lies and falsehoods as all DAP leaders are fully committed to uphold the cardinal features of the Malaysian Constitution and the Rukunegara nation-building principles, viz; Read the rest of this entry »

Malaysian Dream movement must dare to face daunting tests and obstacles but we must be fortified by the conviction that truth and justice will eventually prevail

I said a few days ago that Pakatan Harapan must learn the lessons from the 22-month Pakatan Harapan Government whose five-year mandate was cut short by the Sheraton Move conspiracy which brought in a backdoor, undemocratic and illegitimate government and one lesson is to be more aware of power of lies, falsehood, fake news and disinformation.

I have denied that DAP has any de-Chinese, de-Malay, de-Indian, de-Kadazan or de-Iban policy, as it is very opposite of what the DAP is trying to do – that Malaysians will have multiple identities, ethnic, religious, linguistic, cultural, regional, but their common overriding identity must be that of a Malaysian. I will contest the DAP CEC election but will not aim for any front-line leadership position and am prepared to be defeated in a party election where I have given over 55 years of my life in pursuit of the Malaysian Dream

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I will contest the DAP Central Executive Committee election in June this year and am prepared to be defeated in a party election where I have given over 55 years of my life in pursuit of the Malaysian Dream.

I am not aiming for any front-line leadership position.

I want to reiterate that DAP does not advocate any de-Chinese, de-Malay, de-Indian, de-Kadazan or de-Iban policy. We stand for the very opposite, as we want Malaysians to accept that Malaysians will have multiple identities – ethnic, religious, linguistic, cultural, regional – but first and foremost that they are all Malaysians. In the DAP’s 55-year history, it had the victim of many lies, falsehoods and baseless allegations.

The DAP had been falsely accused of being anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Royalty when throughout our history, DAP had remained committed to the Malaysian Dream for the country to become a world-class great nation which is only possible if all Malaysians regardless of race, religion or region are united under the Malaysian Constitution and Rukunegara to build a harmonious, just, democratic, progressive and prosperous plural nation. Five years ago, on June 18, 2016, Pakatan Harapan lost badly in two parliamentary by-elections – one in Sungai Besar and the other in Kuala Kangsar.

The Pakatan Harapan candidate in Sungai Besar by-election, Azhar Abdul Shukor of Amanah lost by a majority of 9,191 votes while in Kuala Kangsar, Ahmad Termizi Ramli of Amanah lost by a majority of 6,969 votes. Read the rest of this entry »

DAP had never been extremist unless the Malaysian Dream where every citizen is Malaysian first before his or her ethnic, religious or other identities is “extremist”

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

DAP had never been extremist unless the Malaysian Dream where every citizen is Malaysian first before his or her ethnic, religious or other identities is “extremist”.

The Malaysian Constitution and the Rukun Negara are the basis of the Malaysian plural society, based on constitutional monarchy, federalism, parliamentary democracy, the separation of powers, the rule of law, good governance, public integrity, respect for human right, religious freedom and tolerance.

How far we have veered from these moderate and middle-of-the-road practices is illustrated by the sad fact that we have now Cabinet Ministers who do not subscribe to the nation-building principles spelt out in the Constitution and the Rukun Negara. Read the rest of this entry »

It is a great honour to the DAP that on the eve of our 55th anniversary, Karpal Singh, who was DAP National Chairman (2004-2014) and DAP MP (1978 – 2014) was posthumousl y awarded the Darjah Utama Pangkuan Negeri (DUPN) which carries the title “Datuk Seri Utama” in conjunction with the Penang Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas’ 82nd birthday celebration for the Tiger of Jelutong’s services to Malaysians and the nation. Karpal’s wife Gurmit Kaur received the award on behalf of her late husband.

DAP has come a long way since our registration by the Registrar of Societies on March 18, 1966.

We have had our many ups and downs, achievements and setbacks, but our goal had remained the same in the past 55 years – to create a world-class great nation out of the diversities of race, language, religion, culture and civilisation which meet in confluence in Malaysia to be “a beacon of light in a difficult and distracted world”. Will nephrologist and front-liner Dr. Rafidah Abdullah and the three Pakatan Harapan leaders Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng and Mohamad Sabu be liable to be prosecuted under the fake news Emergency Ordinance allegedly to combat fake news relating to Covid-19 or the Emergency Proclamation?

Dr. Rafidah gained national prominence when she embraced vaccine equity advocated by World Health Organisation (WHO) and twittered the government about the problem of “Dua Darjat 2.0” and called on the health authorities to “MENJAGA kebajikan petugas2 kesihatan-hospital, swasta & komuniti; bukan yang berDARJAT”. DAP will turn 55 years next week from the date the party was registered by the Registrar of Societies.

We formed DAP because we want Malaysia to be a world-class great nation in various fields of human endeavour and not be a mediocre third-world nation.

This goal must be the challenge of every generation in Malaysia. Read the rest of this entry »

Call on Malaysians, regardless of race, religion or region, to unite against the politics of hate, lies, falsehoods and fear which are the greatest enemies of making Malaysia a world-class great nation

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

I have just seen a WhatsApp message which has gone to the core of the problem why Malaysians are so polarised and divided, why Malaysia is losing out in the vision to become a world-class great nation and why Malaysians, regardless of race, religion or region, must unite against the politics of hate, lies, falsehoods and fear which are the greatest enemies of making Malaysia a great world-class nation.

This WhatsApp message said:

“Ngeh Koo Ham menang saman fitnah.

Will Muhyiddin support strong and effective action against hate speech and hate crimes which, if unchecked, would plunge Malaysia into greater disunity and polarisation resulting in a failed state

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Malaysia urgently needs strong and effective action against hate speech and hate crimes which, if unchecked, could plunge Malaysia into greater disunity and polarisation resulting in a failed state.

Malaysia’s diversity must be regarded as an asset and not a liability – not just during the launching of national unity plans or blueprints but at all times so that Malaysia can benefit and leverage on our unique position as the confluence of diverse races, languages, religion, cultures and even civilisations. Are the kleptocratic UMNO leaders the worst enemies of the Malays and the nation in the challenges for Malays and Malaysia to compete with the rest of the world?
