There is now controversy whether the Inspector-General of Police has unfettered power to appoint State Chief Police Officers (CPOs) and whether it is the Home Minister, Hamzah Zainuddin, in his capacity as chairman of the Police Force Commission, who is politically interfering in the matter by usurping the powers and functions of the IGP on the appointment of the State CPOs.
In a recorded phone call, which the Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin has admitted was his voice and that there was nothing wrong with the phone call, Hamzah reiterated his position that as chairperson of the Police Force Commission, he is responsible for the promotion and placement of police officers, including the appointment of State CPOs. The national sigh of relief because the daily increase of new Covid-19 cases had fallen below the 3,000-mark after three straight days above 3,000 and 13 straight days above 2,000 lasted briefly for a day, when it sprung back to 3,418 cases.
Is Malaysia facing the fourth Covid wave before the third Covid wave – which is already the longest in the world lasting nine months as it started last September – could be fully brought under control by first reducing the daily increase of new Covid-19 cases down to triple-digit and then to double-digit figures? The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Takiyuddin Hassan has advised heads of services in the government to be more careful when speaking about the law and to refrain from making interpretations based on emotions.
Shouldn’t this apply to Cabinet Ministers, and in particular, to he himself as the Minister in the Prime Minister in charge of law and Parliament?

The families of 10 prison inmates have filed police reports after their incarcerated relatives claimed to have been abused while being quarantined at the Jelebu Prison in Negeri Sembilan.

Deputy IGP Acryl was reported by Berita Harian as saying that Federal Police have opened an investigation paper into the case of a newsreader who had allegedly made slanderous remarks on television under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentionally insulting any person with the likelihood that such provocation will break the public peace. For the past four days, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s speech in his constituency in Bukit Gambir had stuck in my throat.

Malaysia reported 3,332 new cases of Covid-19 yesterday, the second day in a row that infections have exceeded the 3,000 mark, while for the previous 13 days, the daily increase of new Covid-19 cases were over 2,000 figures.

The RM50,000 fine for the Kota Bharu burger seller is evidence of the prevailing kakistocracy under the Muhyiddin government.
Wan Mohd Faisal Wan Kadir, 38, who operates a stall in front his house at Kampung Rambutan Rendang, Kota Bharu, was visited by the police at about 11.10 pm two nights ago when he was completing some orders and was slapped with a RM50,000 fine for operating out of permissible trading hours under the movement control order (MCO) in Kelantan.
Under the MCO rules in Kelantan, eateries can only operate until 10pm.

Yesterday was the 12th straight day where daily increase of new Covid-19 cases have logged more than 2,000 cases, bringing the cumulative total to 395,718 cases.
Malaysia is now at the crossroads of the Covid-19 pandemic, whether we are to beat down the twelve straight days of daily increases of over 2,000 cases to below the 2,000-mark or whether the daily increase of Covid-19 cases are to surge beyond the 3,000-mark to herald the full swing-arrival of the fourth Covid-19 wave in Malaysia. The shocking statement by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Takiyuddin Hassan after more than three months after the declaration of emergency that Parliament will be called to convene when the right time comes either before or after the Covid-19 emergency ends, is evidence of kakistocracy and #kerajaangagal.
Takiyuddin is belabouring under a most wrong and fallacious notion that he controls Parliament and decides whether Parliament can convene or not, that he is more powerful and more important than the Parliament Speaker, who is reduced in his eyes to a mere factotum.
Does Takiyuddin realise that the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat ranks No. 13 on the protocol list, as published in the Federal Order of Precedence, while a Cabinet Minister – including the Minister of Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) – is lower down the list, ranked No. 16 in the protocol list? I want to make a special call to DAP cadres at all levels and throughout the country to unite and rally behind the party for Pakatan Harapan to achieve a new high point in the 15th General Election as well as to safeguard the party against external forces which are trying to split and destroy it.
This call from Pekan Nenas is particularly meaningful because this “pineapple town” was one of the two state constituencies in Tanjong Piai, and at the end of 2019, the Pakatan Harapan candidate was given a thrashing in the Tanjong Piai by-election.
Pakatan Harapan was crushed in the Tanjong Piai by-election, with the Barisan Nasional candidate winning with a thumping majority of 15,086 votes. BN secured 25,466 votes, Pakatan Harapan 10,380 votes, while Gerakan and Berjasa candidates and another two independent candidates all forfeited their deposits as they failed to secure one-eighth of the total votes cast.
