The Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong has said that he will present the report on the collision between two Light Rail Transit (LRT) trains on May 24 at the cabinet meeting today.

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, should be mindful of the 18-rung freefall of Malaysia’s 2021 press freedom index and remind his bloated Cabinet to follow his example of tolerating critics including those who call him “stupid”.
It is most unfortunate that the clampdown on press freedom has happened under the charge of the Minister for Communications and Multimedia, Saifuddin Abdullah, who had always presented himself as a liberal and open-minded person who would be in the forefront to champion press freedom instead of doing the very opposite. Something is very wrong with Malaysia’s strategy in the war against Covid-19 pandemic.
Firstly, for the seventh consecutive day, Malaysia has a higher daily increase of new Covid-19 cases than in Indonesia, with Malaysia recording 4,865 cases yesterday as compared to Indonesia’s 4,185 cases. For the past one week, Malaysia’s total cumulative cases increased by 30,982 cases while that of Indonesia increased by 24,637 cases.

Malaysia yesterday marked the second-deadliest day of the 16-month long Covid-19 pandemic with 34 deaths reported — a mere two days after it reported 39 fatalities, the highest daily toll yet since the onset of the pandemic in January last year.

The youths of Malaysia have made the Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year special and unique in the way they used their online greetings to articulate their views and demands.
Dressed in festive outfits, they posed with placards emblazoned with slogans like “Buka Parlimen” (open Parliament), “Tamat Darurat” (end emergency) and “Kerajaan Gagal” (failed government).

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin made a last-minute decision on Tuesday to impose MCO 3.0 nation-wide from May 12 to June 7, 2021 and in the hurry and flurry, he announced it without the benefit of a live telecast as was his wont last year when he wanted to make important announcements.
However, the government failed to follow through the MCO 3.0 decision with a multi-billion ringgit MCO 3.0 economic stimulus plan for the poor and vulnerable groups in the country.

The senior minister for security, Ismail Sabri has an early Hari Raya ‘gift’ and Malaysia has been hit with almost 5,000 daily cases of Covid-19 a week before Hari Raya.
He said two days ago that Malaysia could be reaching 5,000 new infections daily after the Hari Raya festivities if the public failed to adhere to the SOPs.

Yesterday, I said one of the signs of kakistocracy and justification for the hashtag #kerajaangagal was the disastrous manner in which the government handled communication in the war against Covid-19 pandemic, with the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.
This is again illustrated with the imposition of a movement control order (MCO) for six districts in Selangor for 12 days from May 6 to 17.
Although the DAP MP for Bangi and DAP Assistant Director of Political Education, Ong Kian Ming, had cautioned on 1st May that the authorities should not announce any MCO 3.0 in the Klang Valley at the last minute without confirming the SOPs, this blunder was again repeated, resulting in confusion and anxiety all-round. For the past four days, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s speech in his constituency in Bukit Gambir had stuck in my throat.
Speaking at the Gambir State Assemby-level Tahlil ceremony and presentation of Ramadan Al-Mubarak contributions at Masjid Jamek Simpang Lima Darat, Muhyuiddin said he had watched video footage of the current Covid-19 situation in India, which was quite horrific due to the spread of the more aggressive variant, that has claimed more lives.
