Call for a ten-year moratorium on fake news and hate speech to create racial and religious polarisation for Malaysians to concentrate on making the country a top world-class nation

The latest news is about Vietnam climbing in the ranking of best countries in which to invest this year, surpassing other Southeast Asian nations such as Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

A recent report by the US News and World Report ranked Vietnam eighth out of 29 economies, up from 23 last year.

Neighbouring nations of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, meanwhile stood in thirteenth, fourteenth and eighteenth positions respectively.

According to the report, Doi Moi (renewal) economic policy reforms beginning in 1986 have helped Vietnam’s transition to becoming a more modern, competitive nation.

Vietnam’s continued efforts to lessen international isolation are shown by joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in 2007 and participation in free trade negotiations with the Trans-Pacific Partnership in 2010.

It is also a member of the United Nations, the Asean Regional Forum and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, among other international organisations, stated the report.

The ranking of the best countries to invest in by the American media company draws from the results of a global perception-based survey and ranks countries based on the highest scores among nearly 7,000 business decision-makers on a compilation of eight equally weighted country attributes, including corruption, dynamics, economic stability, entrepreneurial, favourable tax environment, innovation, skilled labour force and technological expertise.

Neighboring nations of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, meanwhile stood in thirteenth, fourteenth and eighteenth positions respectively. Read the rest of this entry »

PAS-UMNO Himpunan Penyatuan Ummah (HPU) is not about Malays or Muslims but about saving UMNO from oblivion and keeping UMNO leaders out of jail and giving PAS the opportunity to be Big Brother in a PAS-UMNO alliance and for PAS President to have a shot to be Prime Minister of Malaysia

Pertama, siapa yang berada di dalam kerajaan sejak enam dekad yang lalu dan bagaimana mungkin untuk kerajaan Pakatan Harapan memperbetulkan masalah yang diciptakan UMNO dalam tempoh masa satu, dua atau lima tahun sedangkan hegemoni UMNO dalam kerajaan telah bersarang selama enam dekad lamanya, yang agenda sebenarnya bukan untuk mengangkat taraf kehidupan bumiputera tetapi sebaliknya untuk mewujudkan UMNO-putra yang hari ini telah menciptakan kleptokrat global Malaysia pertama yang menjadi watak penting dalam skandal rasuah membabitkan 1MDB. Pakatan Harapan tidak akan menghapuskan apa yang baik untuk negara, tetapi akan melaksanakan pembaharuan terhadap apa yang buruk dan menjejaskan negara;

Read the rest of this entry »

The PAS-UMNO HPU and its Charter last Saturday have resulted in escalation of fake news and hate speech in the manipulation of issues of race and religion to polarise inter-racial and inter-religious relations in the country

The PAS-UMNO Himpunan Penyatuan Ummah (HPU) and its Charter last Saturday have resulted in the escalation of fake news and hate speech in the manipulation of issues of race and religion in the past five days to polarise inter-racial and inter-religious relations in the country.

First, UMNO Vice President and former Minister, Datuk Ismail Sabri perpetrated the fake news that Jakim and the halal certification process had been transferred to the Finance Ministry, and disseminated the hate speech to create alarm, fear and hate among Muslims that non-Muslims are now responsible for the halal certification process.

Next, on Malaysia Day on Monday, PAS President, Datuk Seri Hadi Awang perpetrated the vile and divisive fake news at a Malaysia Day function in Bintulu that DAP wanted to give control of the state and its wealth to the Chinese and disseminated the equally vile and divisive hate speech to create alarm, fear and hate among Malays and Muslims that the DAP was “the biggest leader” in the Pakatan Harapan government in Putrajaya to ensure “the wealth for Chinese only, not for all people; other people are left behind”!

Third, since the PAS-UMNO HPU and its Charter, there had been an upsurge of vile and divisive fake news and hate speech on the social media exploiting the 3Rs to depict a false picture of DAP as anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Royalty.

Fourth, the PAS Deputy President, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man yesterday ramped up the attack on DAP alleging that it was pursuing a “Christianisation agenda”, citing as example the speech by the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister and DAP MP for Bukit Mertajam, Steven Sim, at a “New Malaysia Narrative” forum on “Anak Malaysia? Our Story of Past, Present and Future Malaysia” at Mega Chinese Methodist Church in Kota Damansara.

I was shocked by Tuan Ibrahim’s allegation when I first read it in the media, but Steven Sim has since explained that he was speaking to Christians in a church and had discussed their responsibilities as Malaysians. Read the rest of this entry »

Third proof that HPU National Co-operation Charter is Charter for Fake News and Hate Speech – upsurge of fake news and hate speech on social media exploiting 3Rs to depict a false picture of DAP as anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Royalty within 48 hours of the Charter

The third proof that the so-called National Co-operation Charter signed by PAS and UMNO at the Himpunan Penyatuan Ummah (HPU) at the UMNO headquarters at PWTC on Saturday was actually a Charter for Fake New and Hate Speech was the upsurge of fake news and hate speech on the social media exploiting the 3Rs to depict a false picture of DAP as anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Royalty within 48 hours of the signing of the Charter.

The first proof was the speech by the UMNO Vice President Datuk Ismail Sabri at the HPU on Saturday perpetrating the fake news that Jakim and the halal certification process had been transferred to the Finance Ministry, and the hate speech to create alarm, fear and hate among Muslims that non-Muslims are now responsible for the halal certification process.

The second proof was the speech by the PAS President, Datuk Seri Hadi Awang in Bintulu at a Malaysia Day event where he perpetrated the fake news that DAP wanted to give control of the state and its wealth to the Chinese and the hate speech to create alarm, fear and hate among Malays and Muslims that the DAP was “the biggest leader” in the Pakatan Harapan government in Putrajaya to ensure that “the wealth for Chinese only, not for all people; other people are left behind”!

The third proof was that within 48 hours of the signing of the so-called National Co-operation Charter by PAS and UMNO leaders, there was an upsurge of fake news and hate speech on the social media exploiting the 3Rs to depict a false picture of DAP as anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Royalty. Hadi has shown his true colours with his fake news and hate speech about DAP and Sarawak politics providing second proof within 48 hours that the National Co-operation Charter signed at PAS-UMNO Himpunan Penyatuan Ummah on Saturday was really a Charter for Fake News and Hate Speech

PAS-UMNO promoters of Himpunan Peyatuan Ummah should demand an unqualified apology from Ismail Sabri for his fake news and hate speech at HPU had contaminated the National Co-operation Charter into a Charter for Fake News and Hate Speech

DAP MP for Kepong, Lim Lip Eng, has given UMNO Vice President and former Najib Minister, Datuk Ismail Sabri 24 hours to retract and apologise for the latter’s fake news and hate speech that the halal certification process was transferred from Jakim to the Finance Ministry.

Should Ismail fail to do so within 24 hours, Lim intends to lodge reports with the police, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Islamic authorities over the matter.

Ismail Sabri made the statement during the Himpunan Penyatuan Ummah 2019 gathering in Kuala Lumpur on Friday.

Jakim had countered Ismail Sabri’s claims, saying in a statement by its Corporate Communications Unit: “Jakim denies this statement and confirms that up to now, Jakim and the Islamic religious authorities in the relative states are still responsible for halal certification.”

As Lip Eng rightly said, as a senior politician and former cabinet minister, Ismail Sabri must be held accountable. Read the rest of this entry »

Another reason “M for Malaysia” a must-see film for every Malaysian – to reaffirm that the historic decision of 9.5.2018 must succeed although it would take a longer time-span to accomplish instead of being an ignominious failure

There is another reason why the film “M for Malaysia” should be a must-see film for every Malaysian – an occasion for Malaysians to reaffirm that the historic decision of 9.5.2018 must succeed although it would take a longer time-span to accomplish instead of being an ignominious failure.

The film “M for Malaysia” documents the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018, when Malaysians shocked the world and themselves with a miraculous transition of power, peaceful and democratic, overthrowing one of the longest ruling governments in the world to reset nation-building policies to build a New Malaysia to become a country which is a top world-class nation of unity, freedom, justice, excellence and integrity.

Malaysians were so focussed on accomplishing the seemingly impossible job of overcoming insuperable odds to change the government through the ballot box that they overlooked the fact that May 9, 2018 was not a bloody revolution where the heads of those who dissented can be chopped but a peaceful democratic transition where we must win over those who had earlier disagreed with a change of government – while restoring the fundamental rights of freedom of speech and expression which were quelled by repression by the previous government.

While the film celebrates the miraculous victory of Malaysians on May 9, 2018 , it is a salutary reminder that only a battle had been won but not a war.

Just as the May 9, 2018 victory was the result of decades of “blood, sweat and tears” of courageous, passionate and patriotic Malaysians, the mission to build a New Malaysia to reset nation-building policies to undo the injustices, abuses of power and corruption of the past six decades cannot be undone in one or two years, but will take more than one general election cycle to accomplish. “M for Malaysia” a must-see film for every Malaysian as it’s a powerful antidote to the recent barrage of fake news and hate speech to create racial and religious conflagration on the baseless premise that the Malays have lost political power as the May 9, 2018 historic change was a Chinese conspiracy to grab power from the Malays

“M for Malaysia” is a must-see film for every Malaysian as it’s a powerful antidote to the recent barrage of fake news and hate speech to create racial and religious conflagration on the baseless premise that the Malays have lost political power as the May 9, 2018 historic change was a Chinese conspiracy to grab power from the Malays.

Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was the pedlar-in-chief of fake news and hate speech during the 14th General Election, utterly reckless of their divisive, provocative and polarizing character to tear asunder a fragile plural society comprising of diverse races, religions, languages and cultures!

Who will forget what Najib said on the eve of the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018 when he said that there were no Malays at Pakatan Harapan ceramahs and that the tens of thousands who gathered to hear Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad in the various parts in the country were DAP supporters “bussed in” by DAP, when the Special Branch and the various intelligence agencies of the government should know that in its 52-year history, DAP had never bused anyone to any DAP or Pakatan Harapan function!

Malaysians would be reminded from the film “M for Malaysia” that the crowds at the ceramahs for Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan in the 14th General Election campaign were very spontaneous and representative of the Malays, Chinese and Indians in Peninsular Malaysia, exposing the lies and falsehoods – escalated in the recent barrage of fake news and hate speech in the last few months – that the change of government on May 9, 2018 was Chinese grabbing Malay political power. Can Malaysia be rid of corruption, religious bigotry and racial extremism which are the prerequisites to become a top world-class nation or condemned to mediocrity and worse, a failed, rogue state and a klepto-theocracy?

We are still in the interregnum between Merdeka Day on August 31 and Malaysia Day on September 16, which should be period when Malaysians should mull the fate and future of the country, whether we can be rid of corruption, religious bigotry and racial extremism as the perquisites to become a top world-class nation of unity, freedom, justice, excellence and integrity or condemned to mediocrity and worse, a failed and rogue state and a klepto-theocracy.

These thoughts came to me when I read the latest poem by the 83-year-old former top civil servant, Tan Sri Alwi Jantan on the 62nd Merdeka Day, viz: Read the rest of this entry »

All Malaysians must speak up for national unity and condemn fake news and hate speech designed to spark inter-racial and inter-religious doubt, suspicion, animosity, fear and hate

In the past two months, “social media Malaysia” seems to have a developed a life of its own – giving a false picture that centrifugal forces in Malaysia are having an upper-hand and tearing Malaysia apart as a result of the worst racial and religious polarisation in the nation’s history.

But this is a false picture of the real Malaysia.

The 62nd Merdeka Day on August 31 was not only celebrated in the federal capital and the various state capitals by the “big shots”, but for the first time in a very long while in the nation’s history by ordinary Malaysians in small towns and villages all over the country.

In the Iskandar Puteri parliamentary constituency, for instance, I flagged off in the morning the 62nd Merdeka Day Run in Kangkar Pulai which was participated by some 2,000 people, opened a debate tournament, flagged off a 62nd Merdeka Day Convoy of Motor Bikes and officiated a day-long 62nd Merdeka Day Pesta Bola participated by 32 teams from the surrounding Malay kampongs.

Instead of inter-racial and inter-religious doubt, suspicion, distrust, animosity, fear and hatred, as propagated by “social media Malaysia”, I find on the ground only goodwill, understanding, harmony and tolerance among Malaysians, whether Malays, Chinese or Indians.

I call on Malaysians regardless of race and religion to prove “Social media Malaysia” wrong, that it is giving a false picture that centrifugal forces in Malaysia are having an upper-hand and tearing Malaysia apart as a result of worst racial and religious polarisation in nation’s history. Malaysians who want Malaysia to be an example to the world of the success of Alliance of Civilisations instead of being a failure because of Clash of Civilisations should come together to make a success of this objective, regardless of their political antecedents

I was at the Subang International Airport this morning waiting for my flight to be called when a Malaysian joined me at one of the waiting benches, and asked me what I thought would be the future of Malaysia.

I did not know who this person was, but I responded, saying that it reminded me of the opening paragraph of Charles Dickens’s “”A Tale of Two Cities” –

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair”.

I said Malaysia seemed to be caught by this paradox on the occasion of the 62nd Merdeka Day – best of times, worst of times; light and darkness; hope and despair.

But the “social media” Malaysia, dominated by fake news and hate speech particularly in the past two months to incite suspicion, distrust, fear and hatred in each community against other communities, seeking to create the psychosis among the Malays, Chinese and Indians that they are all individually facing an existential threat from other ethnic groups is completely different from real-life Malaysia. Social media Malaysia is entirely different from real-life Malaysia and the fake news and hate speech which dominate the social media to incite suspicion, distrust, fear and hate pitting race against race and religion against religion must be strontly curbed

Read the rest of this entry »

“Alliance of Civilisations” on the domestic and international fronts the best antidote to the rise of hate, fear and intolerance through the abuse of social media

Read the rest of this entry »

Najib/UMNO Psy-War HQ’s directive to UMNO cybertroopers to target DAP to cause collapse of Pakatan Harapan Government and save Najib from being sent to Sungai Buloh Prison

I have seen a secret directive sent out through WhatsApp by Najib/UMNO Psy-War HQ to UMNO cybertroopers to target DAP to cause collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government and save former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak from being sent to Sungai Buloh Prison.

The WhatsApp secret directive reads:

“c&p

This is further evidence to substantiate my prediction two days ago that the Najib/Jho Low/UMNO Psy-War High Command had decided on a new game-plan to cause the collapse and disintegration of the Pakatan Harapan Government and save the Malaysian Kleptocratic Duo from accountability for the 1MDB scandal by creating or magnifying rifts and divisions between political parties and personalities in Pakatan Harapan, and distorting them into racial or religious conflicts. Instantaneous proof of new tactics in Najib-Jho Low game-plan to cause collapse and disintegration of Pakatan Harapan Government to enjoy immunity for the 1MDB kleptocratic scandal

The Najib-Jho Low grand strategy to escape accountability for the 1MDB mega scandal and for two Malaysian kleptocratic duo to escape spending their remaining years in Sungai Buloh Prison

I can discern five tactics which had been used by the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his partner-in-kleptocracy, Jho Low in the past year to nullify the historic decision of the Malaysian people in the 14th General Elections on May 9, 2018 as part of grand strategy of the Malaysian kleptocratic duo, Najib Razak and Jho Low to escape accountability for the 1MDB mega scandal and escape spending their remaining years in Sungai Buloh Prison.

The five tactics which had been deployed in the Najib-Jho Low grand strategy in the past year were:

Firstly, to unabashedly and even shamelessly parade around the country in the “Malu Apa Bossku” campaign with the subliminal message that Najib had committed no wrong in the 1MDB scandal and to portray him as a victim of persecution by Pakatan Harapan government.

Secondly, to create a public opinion that enough had been said about the 1MDB scandal and Najib’s kleptocracy, that the 14th General Election is over and let the courts decide whether Najib was guilty of corruption or not, but for now, the ball is in Pakatan Harapan’s court and that what the people wanted to hear was what the PH government had achieved to lower the cost of living and bring about institutional reforms. Tandem with the creation of this public opinion, the kleptocratic duo’s cybertroopers were entrusted with the task of dominating the media, in particular the social media, to shout down those who speak or write about 1MDB and Najib’s kleptocracy as if they had commited a some heinous crime akin to treason – when in fact, it was Najib’s kleptocracy which was the real treason.

Thirdly, to peddle the toxic and vicious politics of lies and falsehoods to create distrust, intolerance and hate shouting from the rooftops and treetops that Malay rights and Islam are under threat and the need for Malay and Muslim unity to protect these rights and interests. Is Najib saying that he will not sue anyone for accusing him of killing Altantuya, Teoh Beng Hock, Hussain Najadi or Kevin Morais?

Yesterday, I said that one reason why I have kept a low publicity profile in the past year was because of the unprecedented and monstrous lies and falsehoods in the era of social media, like the latest Whatsapps images portraying me as a puppet-master pulling the strings of puppets signifying PKR, Bersatu and AMANAH or portraying me as lording over Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohmad, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Mohamad Sabu, with the vituperative but totally fictitious and baseless message: “Saya tak mahu Melayu BERSATU! Saya tak mahu KEADILAN kepada Melayu! Tak perlu tunai AMANAH kepada Melayu!”

I described this as a “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation, as I am pictured as the greatest threat to Malays and Muslims in the Malay and Muslim constituency, while DAP and I are condemned by other propagandists and cybertroopers among non-Malays and non-Muslims as having sold out the rights and interests of non-Malays and non-Muslims.

This prompted an instant FaceBook response by the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, with the following posting:

This is a singular case of case of admission by the former Prime Minister that he sits atop a highly-funded super infrastructure purveying monstrous lies and falsehoods in the era of Internet and social media, even after he has been evicted from Putrajaya in the 14th General Election. Now that the BN-controlled Senate had sabotaged the repeal of the Anti-Fake News Act at least for a year, should Najib be the first to be charged for the numerous fake news he had manufactured about the 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal?

A Barisan Nasional-owned newspaper which described yesterday’s Senate rejection of the Anti-Fake News (Repeal) Bill passed by the Dewan Rakyat as “an historic development” was right in the sense that it was a Day of Infamy for the Senate after six decades of irrelevance in Malaysian history.

It highlighted the urgency of parliamentary reforms with regard to the Senate to ensure that it could be an effective revising chamber for the Dewan Rakyat as envisaged by the founding fathers of the nation, instead of being a dumping-ground for the political has-beens and the political rubbish from the Barisan Nasional parties, which was the standard operating procedure for appointment of BN Senators in the past six decades.

This is why BN-appointed Senators do not feel the shame that their appointers had been rejected by the Malaysian people in the 14th General Election, and if they had a modicum of shame and moral compass, they would have honourably resigned from the Senate instead of playing the role like yesterday as saboteurs and enemies of the popular will as expressed in the 14th General Election. Has UMNO become an illegal political party?

How low and quick the mighty have fallen.

It was only six months ago that the 71st UMNO General Assembly was held in jubilation and hubris that UMNO was the only political party in the world that continued to rule and had never been defeated in elections since 1955, and was set to retain power not only in the imminent 14th General Election, but virtually to be the perpetual government of Malaysia!

But the nursery rhyme which my generation learnt in primary school in the fifties came to pass, viz:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.

The fall had been so decisive and categorical that no UMNO leader dare to contradict or countermand the pronouncements of a headless, faceless and soulless creature, the self-proclaimed UMNO strategic media unit.

Are current UMNO leaders so ashamed of UMNO that they have to depend on a faceless, headless and soulless UMNO Strategic Media Unit to speak for them?

The faceless, headless and soulless UMNO Strategic Media Unit said in a statement yesterday that neither former Prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak nor the former director of the Barisan Nasional Strategic Media Unit controlled it. Read the rest of this entry »

Will UMNO General Assembly apologise to DAP for its six-year ordeal when UMNO leaders/operatives misused their powers to influence the Registrar of Societies to break or ban the DAP?

I am giving a serious warning to UMNO leaders, aspirants and propagandists that they will be exposed if they continue to spread lies, fake news and false information about the DAP as they have done in previous UMNO General Assemblies and during the 14th General Election which saw UMNO’s fall from grace as the invincible ruling party of Malaysia

It is none of my concern as to which one of the seven candidates win the UMNO Presidency in post-14GE, which one of the three candidates wins the UMNO Deputy Presidency and who among the nine candidates become the three UMNO Vice Presidents in the UMNO General Assembly at the end of this month.

But UMNO post-14GE will stand exposed if it continues with the previous UMNO’s divisive and toxic politics of race, religion, hate, fear and lies especially peddling lies, fake news and false information about the DAP as anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Royalty.

Whether UMNO heads into the sunset or into a new dawn is not my business. But it becomes my business if UMNO leaders continue peddle lies, fake news and false information about the DAP. Read the rest of this entry »
