Will Malaysia be able to reduce daily new Covid-19 cases to triple-digit figures and daily Covid-19 deaths to single-digit by Khairy’s first 100 days as Health Minister on December 7?

Khairy Jamaluddin’s first 100 days as Health Minister is 33 days away, falling on Dec. 7, 2021.

Will Malaysia be able to end the longest 16-month Covid-19 wave in the world since the Sabah state general election last September and reduce daily new Covid-19 cases to triple-digit figures and daily Covid-19 deaths to single digit by Khairy’s first 100 days? Read the rest of this entry »

Let Deepavali this year mark a new beginning for mankind after the ravages and destruction of the 22-month Covid-19 pandemic

(Versi BM)

More than five million lives in the world have been lost in the Covid-19 pandemic but health experts and the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimate that the true toll could be far higher – two to three times higher than the official records.

By the first week of November, the global cumulative total of Covid-19 cases would have reached 250 million cases. Read the rest of this entry »

Government should adopt the 5,000 children orphaned by the Covid-19 pandemic which had killed more than 29,000 people by setting up a special orphanage responsible for their education from primary to university level as well as all their welfare needs

(Versi BM)

The cumulative death toll of the 22-month Covid-19 pandemic has passed the 29,000-mark and some 5,000 children had been orphaned as a result of the loss of their parents who perished in the pandemic.

It took 13 months for Malaysia to record the first 1,000 death on February 17, 2021, but it has taken two weeks to record the last thousand deaths from 28,000 to 29,000 Covid-19 deaths. Read the rest of this entry »

The Confidence-Supply-Reform (CSR) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is about the minimalist position both sides could agree and not the maximalist position each side could demand

(Versi BM)

I received a note from a DAP supporter about the 2022 Budget presented by the Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Tengku Aziz presented to Parliament last Friday.

The note said:

“DAP should vote against the passing of Budget 2022.

“To protest against the Budget giving overwhelming allocations for the Malays and peanuts to the other races. They are virtually telling you that Chinese votes don’t matter. If PH votes for the Budget, I won’t bother voting in GE15.” Read the rest of this entry »

Ismail Sabri should stop making “motherhood statements” but act or explain why no action is being taken against two former Prime Ministers for violating the Health Ministry SOP for the Malacca general election

(Versi BM)

The Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri should stop making “motherhood statements” but act or explain why no action is being taken against the two former Prime Ministers, Najib Razak and Muhyiddin Yassin, for violating the Health Ministry SOP for the Malacca General Election banning physical election campaigns and “disguised” events.

Ismail Sabri has an alternative – admit that the Health Ministry SOP was not suitable and not well thought through and should be repealed and replaced by a more suitable one – the result of the consultation of the Health Ministry, Election Commission, the political parties and interested NGOs. Matters of concern that Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 death figures have yesterday risen to 65 deaths after two days of reduced numbers and the Brought-in-Dead (BID) Covid-19 deaths are again in double-digit figures

(Versi BM)

The 2022 Budget presented by the Finance Minster, Tengku Zafrul Tengku Aziz to Parliament on Friday was one major exercise of denial syndrome where the Ismail Sabri government refused to face up to the fact that until the confidence-supply-reform (CSR) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by the Prime Minister and the four Pakatan Harapan leaders on Sept. 13, 2021, Malaysia had lost the war against the Covid-19 pandemic, especially from the declaration of Emergency on January 11, 2021.

When the 2021 Budget was presented by Tengku Zafrul in the Muhyiddin Government on Nov. 6, 2020, there were cumulative totals of 38,189 Covid-19 cases and 279 Covid-19 deaths.

PKR fined RM10,000 for crowdless ceramah is height of idiocy

(Versi BM)

The RM 10,000 fine on PKR for the crowdless ceramah in Paya Rumput, Melaka last night is the height of idiocy in the Covid-19 pandemic for the forthcoming Malacca state general election.

I would have thought Malacca PKR should be commended for coming up with a very novel way of electioneering in the forthcoming general election in Malacca which takes into account the paramount consideration not to worsen the Covid-19 situation and yet further the objective of free, fair and clean election – but instead, there was a $10,000 fine. Health Ministry should not just give empty warnings but should punish the two former Prime Ministers, Najib and Muhyiddin for defying the ban on physical election activities in Malacca through “disguised” programmes or scrap the ban and invite Election Commission and all political parties on the SOPs that should be followed

The Health Ministry should not just give empty warnings but should punish the two former Prime Ministers, Najib Razak and Muhyiddin Yassin, for flouting its ban against physical election campaigns in Malacca through various forms of “disguised” activities.

What is the use of the Health Ministry having officers in the state monitoring activities in Malacca towards the state election, if there is going to be a new form of Dua Darjat – one for the ruling parties and the other for the opposition? Read the rest of this entry »

Most meaningful to celebrate Deepavali on Thursday as yesterday’s 44 daily Covid-19 death figures lowest in more than five months and BID Covid-19 deaths becoming a rare phenomenon

It is most meaningful to celebrate Deepavali on Thursday as yesterday’s 44 daily Covid-19 death figure is the lowest in more than five months and Brought-in-DEAD (BID) Covid-19 deaths have been reduced to four, a step before BID Covid-19 deaths become a rare phenomenon in Malaysia.

Light is prevailing over darkness in the Covid-19 war, as the confidence-supply-reform (CSR) memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between Prime Minister Ismail Sabri and the Pakatan Harapan leaders, Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, Mohamad Sabu and Wilfred Madius Tangau on Sept. 13 had intended. Hope that 2021 Deepavali will mark the beginning of Malaysia’s victory over one of the world’s longest Covid-19 wave in Malaysia

The Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Tengku Azz presented the 2021 Budget in Parliament on Nov. 6, 2020 entitled “Resilient as One, Together we Triumph” with the largest budget of RM322 billion to help the country cope with the economic impact of Covid-19 pandemic, but it was of no help when the country plunged into hellish conditions when an emergency was declared on January 11, 2021.

This is clear from the fact that when the emergency was declared on 11th January 2021, the cumulative totals of 138,224 Covid-19 cases and 555 deaths shot exponentially to 2,460,809 Covid-19 cases and 28,832 deaths yesterday when Tengku Zafrul presented his 2022 budget in Parliament. As 2021 Budget was a catastrophe in the war against Covid-19 pandemic, the 2022 Budget must prove to be otherwise

I got a shock when I opened the Economic Report 2022, the key Budget 2022 paper presented by the Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Aziz, to Members of Parliament yesterday.

I could not believe it when I read the first paragraph of the foreword by the Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri which said: Read the rest of this entry »

Will, and how soon, the largest 2022 Budget in nation’s history, undo the ravages to the lives and livelihoods of Malaysians in the past year as one of the worst performing nations in the world in Covid-19 pandemic

(Versi BM)

The Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul Aziz, will present the 2022 Budget, expected to be the largest budget in the nation’s history, in Parliament this afternoon.

The immediate question is: Will, and how soon, the largest 2022 Budget in nation’s history, undo the ravages to the lives and livelihoods of Malaysians in the past year as one of the worst performing nations in the world in Covid-19 pandemic? Read the rest of this entry »

There will be no Operation Lalang, Kampong Memali, 1MDB scandal, Sheraton Move conspiracy or Malaysia’s poor performance in the Covid-19 pandemic if there is a Keluarga Malaysia

(Versi BM)

Today 34 years ago, I was detained together with my son, Lim Guan Eng, and many other comrades in the struggle for a Malaysian Dream, including Karpal Singh and P. Patto, under the Internal Security Act (ISA). Guan Eng and I were the first to be detained and the last to be released in April 1989 under Operation Lalang.

For me it was my second ISA detention and the dragnet which started 34 years ago today, was to go on for few more days and eventually caught over 110 victims in its snares.

The Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri, is now talking about Keluarga Malaysia. Read the rest of this entry »

Agony to see Malaysia’s slow reduction of daily new Covid-19 cases struggling to go below the 4,000-case figure while Indonesia has been recording triple-digit numbers for 12 consecutive days

(Versi BM)

It is an agony to see Malaysia’s slow reduction of daily new Covid-19 cases struggling to go below the 4,000-case figure while Indonesia, with more than eight times the population of Malaysia, has been recording triple-digit numbers for 12 consecutive days.

It is a dire warning of the signs of the times – the slackening competitiveness of the Malaysian economy as compared to Indonesia, and the narrowing of the gap in democratic freedoms, the rule of law and good governance between the two countries.

Health Ministry should produce SOPs for election for all the four phases of NRP and not just for one phase and ensure that there is no Dua Darjat in their implementation

The Health Ministry should produce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for election for all the four phases of the National Recovery Plan in Malaysia and ensure that there is no Dua Darjat in their implementation instead of arbitrarily banning all physical gatherings and social events related to the Malacca state general election from Oct 25 to Nov. 27.

While responsible Malaysians are mindful of the need to reduce the risk of new Covid-19 infections, the Covid-19 pandemic should not be an excuse to ban all physical gatherings and social events which comply with the SOPs. Read the rest of this entry »

Ahmad Faizal Azumu should be removed as Youth and Sports Minister for his outrageous question to national diver Pendelela Rinong

(Versi BM)

Ahmad Faizal Azumu should be removed as Youth and Sports Minister for his outrageous question to national diver Pandelela Rinong,

Pendelela has answered Ahmad Faizal very well – she said she had shared her experience of sexual harassment involving her former coach in order to offer support and embolden other victims to speak up.

She said she wanted to encourage future victims to “be brave when I wasn’t”. Read the rest of this entry »

Mixed feelings over Covid-19 stats yesterday – glad that number of new Covid-19 cases achieved another slow breakthrough of 4,782 cases but concern at the still high fatality numbers of 92 daily deaths

(Versi BM)

The Covid-19 statistics yesterday is a cause for mixed feelings – glad that the number of new Covid-19 cases achieved another slow breakthrough of 4,783 cases but concern at the still high fatality numbers of 92 daily deaths.

Although the new case count is the lowest in 125 days since June 22, we are reducing the daily new cases at an agonisingly slow pace. Read the rest of this entry »

Is Khairy following the Indonesian Covid-19 statistics where for ten consecutive days, it has been recording triple-digit numbers of daily new Covid-19 cases and half of Malaysia’s Covid-19 deaths – when will Malaysia reduce the daily new Covid-19 cases to triple digit numbers and have less Covid-19 deaths than Indonesia?

(Versi BM)

I am glad that after my media statement yesterday asking Khairy Jamaluddin, the Health Minister, to clarify why CovidNow website reported 42 Covid-19 deaths while the Worldometer website reported 222 Covid-19 deaths for October 23, 2021, the Worldometer website corrected its figure to be consistent with CovidNow figures.

I want to ask Khairy whether he is following the Indonesian Covid-19 statistics where for ten consecutive days, it had been reporting triple-digit numbers for daily new Covid-19 cases and ask when will the daily new Covid-19 cases in Malaysia be reduced to triple-digit numbers.
