The Deputy Minister for Communications and Multimedia Zahidi Zainul Abidin and the Deputy Finance Minister and MP for Kudat, Abdul Rahim Bakri have conspired to turn the Veveonah episode into a comedy of errors highlighting that under the Muhyiddin “backdoor” government, Malaysia is fast becoming a kakistocracy – a government by the worst persons in the country.
First, we have Zahidi accusing in Senate last Thursday that plucky Sabah student Veveonah Mosibin from Kampung Sapatalang in Pitas of lying when she did a YouTube in June of her 24 hours on top of a tree to sit for an examination because of poor internet connectivity.
He said he had checked and found that Veveonah had pretended to take a university exam on a tree to popularise her YouTube channel.
Later the same night, Zahidi apologised for wrongly accusing Veveonah of trying to garner publicity by sitting on a tree to gain internet connectivity for an online examination. Read the rest of this entry »
Call on Muhyiddin to urgently organise “Rukun Negara and sensitivity” courses for his Ministers and Deputy Ministers so that incidents like the Veveonah and violation of Covid-19 SOPs will not be repeated

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should urgently organise “Rukun Negara and sensitivity” courses for his Ministers and Deputy Ministers so that incidents like the Veveonah and violation of Covid-19 SOPs will not be repeated.
It is unbelievable that the Veveonah Incident had snared two Deputy Ministers and exposed them as having utterly lost their roots and completely cut off from the ordinary people.
Apart from passing the buck to the MP for Kudat and Deputy Finance Minister, the Deputy Communications and Multi-media Minister, Zahidi Zainul Abidin has yet to justify his somersaults in the last few days, firstly, for accusing Veveonah Mosibin of Pitas in the Senate of lying that she had to spend 24 hours on a tree-top to gain internet connectivity for an online examination; withdrawing his accusation later the same day; then repeating the accusation yesterday but blaming it on the Deputy Finance Minister. Why is Zahidi flogging a dead horse, trying to justify his Thursday morning statement in the Senate accusing Veveonah Mosibin of lying that she had to spend 24 hours on a tree-top to gain internet connectivity for an online examination.
In the process, Zahidi has even tried to drag the MP for Kudat and Deputy Finance Minister, Abdul Rahim Bakri into the soup he is in. Read the rest of this entry »
PAS Minister Khairuddin symbolises one the major dereliction of the Perikatan Nasional government – violation of Rukun Negara and double standards in the country

Plantation and Commodities Minister, Khairuddin Aman Razali from PAS now symbolises one of the major dereliction of the Perikatan Nasional government – violation of Rukun Negara and double standards in the country.
When this morning I read news about a senior police officer being among the 227 people detained in operations to check compliance with the recovery movement control order (RMCO) in Petaling Jaya earlier today, the first person who come to my mind is Khairuddin.
I believe I speak for all Malaysians wondering why Police is taking such an inordinately long time to decide on action against Khairuddin for his breach of RMCO SOPs, when everyday, actions are being taken against ordinary Malaysians for non-compliance with RMCO rules and regulations. Government should adopt a flexible and nimble policy and approach to deal with Covid-19 pandemic and not a “one size fits all” situation
The Covid-19 pandemic chalked up four dubious records in the world in the past 24 hours:
(i) Achieving a single-day increase global record for Covid-19 cases as it registered 300,474 new Covid-190 cases, the first time daily new infections have breached the 300,000-mark;
(ii) Global cumulative total of Covid-19 infections breached the 27 million mark and stands at present at 27,069,983 cases;
(iii) Russia joins United States, Brazil and India to be the fourth country in the world with a cumulative total of over a million cases, viz: Read the rest of this entry »
Is Muhyiddin the weakest of the eight Prime Ministers of Malaysia – weaker than Tun Abdullah Badawi?

Is Tan Sri Muhyidin Yassin the weakest of the eight Prime Ministers of Malaysia – weaker than Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawai, the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia?
This thought came to me when I read of the call by the PAS Plantation and Commodities Minister, Khairuddin Aman Razali for the permanent closure of pubs and nightclubs in Malaysia.
I do not think Khairuddin would have survived as a Cabinet Minister under any other Prime Minister in Malaysia after violating the Covid 19 quarantine SOP after his personal visit to Turkey on July 7, the lies that was told in particular about Turkey at the time was a “green zone” when it was an epicentre of the Covid 19 pandemic, and his attempt to make light his breach by claiming that he did not do anything wrong in regard to his job and that it involved only an error over the issue of the Covid-19 SOPs. For the sake of the Veveonahs of Sabah, Sarawak and Malaysia to ensure that the government is serious about closing the digital divide in Malaysia, Zahidi must be referred to the Senate Committee of Privileges to determine how he could be so ignorant and incompetent as to call Veveonah a liar

For the sake of the Veveonahs of Sabah, Sarawak and Malaysia to ensure that the government is serious about closing the digital divide in Malaysia, the Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin must be referred to the Senate Committee of Privileges to determine how he could be so ignorant and incompetent as to call Veveonah Mosibin of Pitas a liar in the Senate for her YouTube of her spending a night on a treetop to get Internet connection for her examination.
Zahidi’s excuse that he had received “inaccurate information” to tell such a lie in the Senate is a most lame one.
The Senate Committee of Privileges should establish whether Zahidi was telling the truth in claiming that he had received “inaccurate information” or this is Zahidi’s second lie.

Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin should be sacked for his shocking ignorance and incompetence, undercutting the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin himself, exposing the government to national and international ridicule as a kakistocracy.
Zahidi will be getting away too easily for his grave and shameful faux pas if he is just allowed to apologise and move on.
He said in the Senate yesterday morning that he had checked and found that Veveonah Mosibin of Kampung Sapatalang in Pitas, Sabah had pretended to take a university exam on a tree to popularise her YouTube channel, but later the same night, Zahidi said he would like to correct the statement that she did not sit for any exam.

Are we having a MACC scandal over the MARA corruption scandal over the transaction of Australian properties?

Is the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) aware of the identity of the “most powerful Malaysian political figure” referred to by Australian media Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Sun as implicated in the RM70 million MARA corruption scandal involving the transaction of Australian properties?
If so, why had no action been taken by the MACC against this “most powerful Malaysian political figure”; and if not, why the MACC had not sought information from its Australian counterpart in the Australian Federal Police investigating the case?
This has become the most pertinent question following the action by the Australian Federal Police seizing properties and cash worth Australian $1.6 million and the corruption prosecution of Australian property developer Dennis Teen last month over charges that he paid Malaysian government officials Australian $4.75 million in bribes to facilitate the purchase of a property development in Melbourne by MARA. The best proof of the failure of Rukun Negara after 50 years is that the country has now a Cabinet which has the least number of Ministers who are Malaysian first and their ethnicity or religion second and the most number of Ministers who are first in their ethnicity or religion and Malaysian second.
Is the Cabinet prepared to hold a public event where every Cabinet Minister declares that he or she unconditionally and unequivocally accepts the five Rukun Negara Principles as the basis for the building of a Malaysian nation and that he or she is Malaysian first and their ethnicity or religious affiliation second?
Ten years ago, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he was Malay first and Malaysian second. Has he developed with the times to become a Malaysian first and Malay second? The Health director-general Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah had declined to respond to an accusation that the ministry was to be blamed for the failure of cabinet minister Khairuddin Aman Razali to quarantine himself after returning from Turkey.
I support Noor Hisham as this is a political question which should not be answered by any civil servant, but a question to be answered by the political leaders, which is why I had specifically ask the Health Minister, Dr. Adham Baba, to explain whether the Health Ministry was guilty as charged by PAS and whether their silence constituted an admission of guilt.
In my media statement yesterday, I had referred to the accusation levelled by the PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin at the PAS Muktamar in Ipoh last weekend that Khairuddin should be considered a hero even though he broke Covid-19 quarantine rules as his trip to Turkey had brought benefits to the oil palm sector. Never before in 63-year history of Malaysia have there been so many negative messages as well as events which run counter to the National Day theme of “Malaysia Prihatin” and the Rukun Negara principles

It was quite a disastrous start for this year’s triple national celebrations – National Day, Malaysia Day and Golden Jubilee of Rukun Negara.
Never before in 63-year history of Malaysia have there been so many negative messages as well as events which run counter to the joint National Day and Malaysia Day theme of “Malaysia Prihatin” and the 50th year commemoration of Rukun Negara principles.
The Yang di Pertuan Agong said Rukun Negara encapsulates Malaysia’s soul, spirit and national unity, but never before has the country been so depressed, disheartened and divided as one event after another demonstrates the uphill battle for the soul of Malaysia against the irreligious and immoral “Malu Apa” campaign – whether the Sheraton Move to usher in a “backdoor” government, the Slim River by-election or the nefarious plot in the durian belt of Pahang to deny justice to the durian farmers and to falsely target them as being opposed to the second Rukun Negara principle of “Loyalty to King and country”. On this day 63 years ago, when I was in Form III in Batu Pahat High School, students gathered at the school padang to hear the Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, read out the Proclamation of Independence in Kuala Lumpur where he concluded with the declaration: “from the thirty first day of August, nineteen hundred and fifty seven, the Persekutuan Tanah Melayu comprising the States of Johore, Pahang, Negri Semblian, Selangor, Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan, Trengganu, Perak, Malacca and Penang is and with God’s blessing shall be for ever a sovereign democratic and independent State founded upon the principles of liberty and justice and ever seeking the welfare and happiness of its people and the maintenance of a just peace among all nations”.
We all returned home proudly that day with a printed scroll of the Proclamation of Independence and our hopes for the nation were sky-high as we could think of no limits of what the country could achieve.
Today, 63 years later, the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, said in his National Day Message that the government will make “Prihatin Rakyat” (Caring for the People) as its main guiding principle in championing the fate and prioritising the welfare of the people. One question which had been haunting me for some time is whether the Malaysian Constitution adopted as the basis for the building of a Malayan and later Malaysian nation in 1957 would have been accepted and adopted if it had been presented to the highest legislature of the land today.
There are legitimate doubts that the 1957 Constitution would have been passed by the highest legislature of the land today especially as the Constitution is viewed with considerable disfavour by those who believe that while corruption is deplorable, one should support a Muslim who is corrupt and not a non-Muslim who is clean, honest and upright; or those committed to the toxic politics of race and religion to disunite and polarise Malaysia and condemn the nation to the fate of a kleptocratic, kakistocratic and a failed state. UMNO’s thumping by-election victory in the Slim River by-election yesterday is the victory of the “Malu Apa” campaign against the Rukun Negara principles of Belief in God, Loyalty to King and Country, Supremacy of the Constitution, the rule of law and good morality.
It reminds me of the thumping victories of Barisan Nasional in the last two by-elections of the 13th Parliament – the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar parliamentary by-elections in June 2016.

The Perikatan Nasional Government wanted to lay a trap for former Finance Minister and DAP Secretary-General, Lim Guan Eng when in a preplanned move in Parliament, the Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz told the UMNO MP for Pontian, Ahmad Maslan that a total of 101 projects with a procurement value of RM6.61 billion had been awarded through direct negotiations during the 22-month Pakatan Harapan government, giving the impression that corruption was involved – which was dutifully followed a statement by MACC the next day which said it was obtaining information from the finance ministry a list of the 101 projects to determine whether there exists elements of corruption, irregularities or abuse of power.
Guan Eng has pointed out that the Pakatan Harapan government was only responsible for 5.3 percent of the directly awarded contracts worth RM6.6 billion revealed by Tengku Zafrul, as most of the RM6.61 billion went to legacy projects (67.7 percent) and contracts for supplies or services (26.5 percent) taken on during the Barisan Nasional administration. Khairuddin’s ‘million apologies” totally insincere and opportunistic as he now claims he had done nothing wrong in violating the Covid 19 quarantine SOP

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razal’s “million apologies” last Saturday is totally insincere and opportunistic as he now claims he had done nothing wrong in violating the Covid-19 quarantine SOP when he returned from Turkey on July 7.
He said: “I did not do anything wrong in regard to my job, it only involved an error over the issue of the SOPs.
“I have my own view but I let the police (to probe). The Health Ministry had also issued a statement. For me, it’s solved, although I have my own view.”
The way Khairuddin strutted about in the Slim River by-election yesterday shows his new awareness of his untouchability as a Minister whatever mistake he makes, for the simple reason that the government of Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is so fragile that it would collapse if the Prime Minister enforces the principle of no one above the law.
As a result, the Prime Minister is left with the option of paying lip-service to this principle in the face of mounting cases of double standards in the application of the law.
If he is faultless, why is Khairuddin donating his salary as a minister from May to August to the Covid-19 fund?
The awful truth is that ten days after MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok exposed his violation of the Covid 19 quarantine SOP on his return from Turkey on July 7, the whole story has yet to be told, for example: did Khairuddin have the authorisation of the Prime Minister for his Turkish visit, how large was the delegation, why none of them wore the pink wristband and quarantined for 14 days under the Covid 19 SOP, why the lies about a “special test” for Ministers at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and that Turkey was at the relevant time a “green country zone” in the Covid-19 pandemic, when Turkey was in fact one of the epicentres of the pandemic.
(Media Statement by DAP MP for Iskandar Puteri Lim Kit Siang in Gelang Patah on Saturday, 29th August 2020)
======================

Khairuddin’s image haunts Muhyiddin’s live telecast announcing the extension of RMCO as the single foremost question in the minds of Malaysians is the government’s double standards for breach of Covid-19 quarantine SOP

Malaysians following the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s live telecast tonight are interested in two things: firstly, whether the RMCO would be extended and the outcome of police investigations ten days after the DAP MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok revealed in Parliament about the flagrant breach of Covid-19 quarantine SOP by the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali on July 7.
It is no exaggeration to say that although the live image on the television screen was that of the Prime Minister, for the overwhelming majority of Malaysians, Khairuddin’s image haunts Muhyiddin’s live telecast.
But Malaysians are disappointed. There is only the hypocritical advice by the Prime Minister to Malaysians to be responsible and disciplined to follow the Covid-19 SOP, but such advice do not extend to his Cabinet Ministers. Read the rest of this entry »
