Is it divinely ordained that former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak should speak to an empty chamber in Parliament to underline how low he has fallen and how irrelevant he has become to Malaysians?
Such a question would naturally follow from the declaration in Parliament yesterday by the UMNO President and former Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi that the earthquake and tsunami in Palu, Indonesia that killed more than 1,900 people happened because there were over 1,000 people who were involved in LGBT activities.
Malaysians and in fact the world must thank Najib for posting a photograph on his Facebook page showing him delivering a speech in the Dewan Rakyat to rows of empty seats in front of him – which is indeed a rare sight!
In fact, there were several meetings in Parliament going on at the time Najib spoke, including the Public Accounts Committee and two Ministerial briefings on forthcoming parliamentary business. Read the rest of this entry »

A Malaysiakini reader asked whether Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein thinks he is a James Bond with a “very particular set of skills” to hunt down 1MDB-linked businessperson Jho Low in China.
Hishammuddin’s offer to track down fugitive financier Jho Low in China to see closure o to the 1MDB case is indeed intriguing.
In the first place, will Jho Low’s return to Malaysia result in the closure of the 1MDB scandal?
What is more intriguing is whether Hishammuddin will be the first Minister in the last Najib Cabinet to admit that the international 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal is not a fake news, concoction by his political enemies or an international conspiracy to topple Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the sixth Prime Minster of Malaysia, but was “kleptocracy at its worst” and which plunged Malaysia into infamy and ignominy as a global kleptocracy.
If Hishammuddin wants to see a closure to the 1MDB case, and justice done, shouldn’t he be offering proper advice to his cousin, Najib?

Former MCA President Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek can deny until the cows come home and allege that I had twisted his words in claiming that he had likened UMNO-MCA relationship to father-and-son relationship but just ask the Malaysian reading public what conclusions they would draw from Chua’s earlier and subsequent statements.
May be Chua had not expected the intensity of the fallout of his “when your father gives you money, will you ask your dad where the money comes from” statement, but it shows that there are things for even an old hand in politics to learn.

Most important questions for all MCA leaders are not whether MCA leaving BN but whether MCA dare to denounce Najib and 1MDB scandal for the infamy of Malaysia becoming a global kleptocracy and vow support to Pakatan Harapan to transform Malaysia from global kleptocracy to a model democracy?
MCA must thank its former MCA President, Datuk Chua Soi Lek for crystallising some of the issues which MCA must confront if it is to survive after being reduced from a 7/11 into a ½ political party from the 2013 to the 2018 General Election, i.e. a party with seven MPs and 11 State Assemblymen to a party with one MP and two Assemblymen!
At its height, MCA had 30 MPs and four federal Ministers, but in the 2018 general election, it secured only 639,165 votes (or the support at most 200,000 Chinese voters although it boasts of a membership of more than a million members).

Hadi will be a disgrace to political Islam if he cannot substantiate his allegation that DAP discriminates against the East Coast by opposing equal development for Terengganu and Kelantan
I am astonished by the allegation by the PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang that DAP is guilty of “sikap diskriminasi…yang tidak menyokong hasrat kerajaan untuk membawa pembagunan saksama kepada lima negeriu termasuk Terengganu dan Kelantan”.
In a Berita Harian online report which appeared at 4.07 pm yesterday, under the heading “PAS dakwa DAP diskriminasi pembangunan Pantai Timur”, Hadi was quoted as saying that “diskriminasi DAP terhadap hasrat Kerajaan Persekutuan untuk memajukan negeri Pantai Timur begitu ketara”.
The Berita Harian report said:
“Beliau berkata, DAP yang mendominasi kerusi di Pantai Barat dilihat sebagai punca yang boleh menggagalkan usaha Kerajaan Persekutuan untuk berlaku adil dan saksama dalam membawa pembangunan kepada negeri.

The most outstanding aspect of the last five months of post-14th General Election, whether in Parliament or outside,is the conspiracy of silence involving all UMNO/
Barisan Nasional leaders, especially those who had been Ministers in Najib’s Cabinet like Wee Ka Siong, on the greatest and worst corruption scandal in the country’s history – the monstrous international 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal which had given Malaysia the infamy, ignominy and iniquity of a global kleptocracy.
Wee Ka Siong had never spoken about the 1MDB issue, nor had any other UMNO/BN leaders, whether in Parliament or outside, although it is the single biggest global issue confronting Malaysia.

There were three unusual sights during the Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s speech on the 11th Malaysia Plan Mid-Terrm Review in Parliament yesterday.
First, the empty seat opposite the Prime Minister across the parliamentary aisle in the Opposition benches. The seat was empty as the Parliamentary Opposition Leader had been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and expected to be charged in court today on 45 counts of corruption, criminal breach of trust and money-laundering.
Second, the second Opposition seat next to the Parliamentary Opposition Leader, which is occupied by the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak. During Mahathir’s entire speech on the 11th Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review, Najib never raised his head to look at the Prime Minister, eyeball to eyeball so to say, but kept his head down.

I wonder why the MCA Deputy President, Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong is so impatient as to admit that he is part of the Najib Razak propaganda and cybertrooper outfit to paint Pakatan Harapan Ministers in the worst possible light to bring about the downfall of the Pakatan Harapan Federal Government before the 15th General Election in 2023?
Two days ago on Tuesday, 16th October 2018, I issued a statement advising the Education Minister, Maszlee Malik to stop talking about socks and shoes so as not to fall into the trap of former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and UMNO propagandists and cybertroopers to project the image that he is a very mediocre Minister who has very limited vision and objectives in the transformation of education in the country and instead prove that he is a better Education Minister than Najib himself.
The first to respond to my statement was not Najib or any of his UMNO propagandists, but Wee Ka Siong, when I had not even thought of him or referred to the MCA!
What could make Wee “confessing without being beaten”? Clearly, he is suffering from a “guilty conscience” of being part of Najib propagandist and cybertrooper outfit although it is over five months since the 14th General Election where UMNO/BN was toppled from Putrajaya. I advise the Education Minister Maszlee Malik to stop talking about socks and shoes so as not to fall into the trap of former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and UMNO propagandists and cyber-troopers to project the image that he is a very mediocre Minister who has very limited vision and objectives in the transformation of education in the country.
The latest example is the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak staging a “cat crying over a dead mouse” act to humiliate Mazslee, pretending to laud Maszlee for his “farsightedness” in looking to change the colour of school students shoes and socks and suggesting that Maszlee should look into the colour of school children’s uniforms and school buildings.
Najib even feigned outrage at the criticisms directed against Maszlee over the issue of shoes and socks, and said it was a pity that BN Ministers had not realised the importance of the colour of shoes and socks to “the wholesome development of a student”.
This is a very low blow by Najib and Malaysians cannot but ask how much lower Najib would descend in order to distract attention from his world infamy of a global kleptocracy – the international 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal.
Today, Maszlee lamented that his “trivial” comments about the colour of students’ socks and school was highlighted by Utusan Malaysia, while his more important point about university hospitals was ignored. Read the rest of this entry »

At last, the PAS leadership of Datuk Seri Hadi Awang has admitted that under its stewardship, PAS is “down”.
I have never said that PAS is “out” but I dare to forecast that so long as the Hadi leadership continues to take a contrary position from the two former PAS Presidents Fadzil Nor and Yusuf Rawa and the former PAS Mursydul Am Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, PAS will continue to go further “down” in the Malaysian political landscape.
In response to my statement yesterday, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said I should not underestimate PAS party despite its weaker results in the May 9 general election and although PAS is “down”, it is not “out”.
The Kota Bharu MP noted that his party had gone to the polls without relying on the support of others, unlike Amanah, PPBM or even DAP.
Is the PAS Secretary-General suggesting that that he envisages a day when PAS on its own can win a general election in Malaysia, without support from any other political party? I must congratulate former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak for landing a new occupation – making a cameo appearance in a South Korean television drama as it not easy for a former Prime Minister of Najib’s “stature” to find a new occupation.
But he has probably committed the biggest blunder in his whole life when he tried to be a “hero” on the issue of re-opening of investigation into the mysterious murder of Mongolian model Altantunya Shaariibuu, striking the posture that he would order his assistant to lodge a police report against himself so that the authorities can start investigating if he was involved in several high profile murders while he was in power – which included the Altantunya Shaariibuu murder case. The Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) report should be tabled as a White Paper in Parliament and a Parliamentary Select Committee on Institutional Reforms formed on the CEP proposals to be implemented, including the system for the appointment of judges.
Recently, the CEP chairman Tun Daim Zainuddin called on the government to make the CEP’s recommendations available to the public.
He said that as part of the CEP’s efforts to look into the government finances, it had interviewed more than 300 individuals, including bankers, businessmen, civil servants, civil society members and union officials.
Those interviews had revealed a culture of turning a blind eye towards corruption.

To my astonishment, Najib immediately complied by telling a lie which I exposed in my statement yesterday.

How theatrical! When will former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak order his assistant to lodge a police report against himself on the 1MDB scandal to establish his innocence?
This will be the thought of many when they read news report of Najib “ordering” a police report against himself, so that the authorities can start investigating and establish his innocence of several high profile murders while he was in power.
I said yesterday that Najib is guilty of telling lies almost every day.
He has told another lie.
He said I have made “repeated calls” to the authorities to re-open investigations into high profile mysterious deaths.
Let me tell Najib that I had only once called for the re-opening of investigations into the high profile mysterious deaths like Altantunya Shaariibuu, Husain Najadi, Kevin Morais and Teoh Boon Hock after the Pakatan Harapan came into power in the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018 – and not “repeated calls”!

Its great news and fantastic breakthrough, the announcement by the Deputy Education Minister, Teo Nie Ching in Kuching that stateless children in the country can now enroll in government schools beginning next year by merely producing their birth certificate.
Nie Ching said undocumented children still enroll themselves but they have two years to produce the necessary documents.
Apart from birth certificates, these children could produce either their adoption certificate if they are adopted or any court order.
It is estimated that there are about 300,000 stateless children under the age of 18 in the country.
The Education Minister, Maszlee Malik and the Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching must be commended for resolving this very nettlesome problem, as in the past, it’s quite troublesome for them to enroll in government schools.
Teo’s announcement that the new policy also applies to them continuing their studies in secondary schools, allowing them to take public exams like the PT3, SPM, STPM is also be be applauded.
The great news and fantastic breakthrough announced by Nie Ching is the New Malaysia we want to build – a New Malaysia with greater compassion and more emphasis on human rights – after the historic decision of the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018.

Will Isa and PAS candidate lose their deposits in the Port Dickson by-election tomorrow?
The polling survey by Institute Darul Ehsan (IDE) on the eve of the by-election tomorrow is most interesting – not whether Anwar Ibrahim is on track to defeat his six opponents or Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan will sink to the bottom, but that the PAS candidate would only maintain its 11% of the votes in the 14th General
Election while former Mentri Besar Mohd Isa Samad would only garner 10 per cent of the votes cast.
If Isa Samad had not contested, and the bulk of the majority of UMNO votes had gone to the PAS candidate as conspired by UMNO and PAS leaders, then the PAS candidate would be able to retain his deposit in the by-election as PAS secured just short of 11% of the votes cast in the last general election (short of the 12.5% of the votes cast necessary to retain his deposit).
Many had expected Isa to do better than the PAS candidate in the by-election but the IDE survey shows otherwise, that PAS would maintain its 11% of the votes cast previously while Isa would get only 10 per cent of the votes cast, both forfeiting their deposits in being unable to get at least 12.5% of the votes cast.
