Malaysia needs an educational overhaul as an education system which could produce a global kleptocracy in Malaysia cannot be a good and wholesome one

Malaysia needs an educational overhaul as an education system which could produce a global kleptocracy in Malaysia cannot be a good and wholesome one.
The last few days provided another example of why there is something basically wrong with the Malaysian education system which could produce generations of unthinking Malaysians who could easily fall victim to the toxic politics of lies, fake news, hate, race and religion. No Malaysian would want Malaysia to ratify ICERD at the price of another May 13 racial riot
Posted by Kit in nation building, Politics on Sunday, 25 November 2018
The Pakatan Harapan government to build a New Malaysia suffered a setback yesterday when the Prime Minister’s Office announced that the government will not ratify the International Covenant Against All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) and that it will continue to defend the Federal Constitution.
No Malaysian would want Malaysia to ratify the ICERD at the price of another May 13 racial riot in the country, as there is no doubt that there are irresponsible elements which are seeking to incite and escalate racial and religious distrust, animosity and hatred to engender the conditions to replicate another May 13 racial riot in Malaysia.
Is ICERD against the Malaysian Constitution, anti-Malay, anti-Islam and anti-Malay Rulers? Read the rest of this entry »
Do Malaysians want a New Malaysia or return to Najib’s kleptocratic Malaysia?
Posted by Kit in Najib Razak, nation building on Sunday, 4 November 2018
The 2019 Budget presented by Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng in Parliament on Friday, 2nd November 2018 marks the first phase of the building of a New Malaysia started in the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018.
The building of a New Malaysia, made possible by the courageous efforts Malaysians to re-set nation building policies after six decades, cannot be accomplished in a hundred days or in six months, but will take a decade or two.
All Malaysians must develop a Big Picture and Long-term Vision perspectives. But an important start for the building of a New Malaysia has been made in the past six months, for Malaysia to fulfil the dream to be a top world-class nation leveraging on the values and assets of the diverse races, religions, languages, cultures and civilizations which meet in confluence in Malaysia. Malaysians must not waste the second chance to re-set nation building polices to build a New Malaysia with national unity and restore democracy, integrity and justice as it is unlikely that there will be a third chance
Posted by Kit in nation building on Wednesday, 24 October 2018
Malaysians saved Malaysia and made history on May 9, 2018, giving Malaysians a second chance to reset nation-building policies so that Malaysia will not become a failed and rogue state, on top of being a kakistocracy and global kleptocracy.
A New Malaysia cannot be accomplished in a hundred days or in six months, but will take a decade of two. All Malaysians must develop a Big Picture and Long-term Vision perspectives.
An important start for the building of a New Malaysia was made on May 9, 2018 when we showed the world, at a time when democracy as a system of government was facing crisis of confidence worldwide, that parliamentary democracy is still the best among the worst systems of government.
We must continue the quest to become a top world-class nation by leveraging on the values and assets of the diverse races, religions, languages, cultures and civilizations which meet in confluence in Malaysia. Read the rest of this entry »
The Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) report should be tabled as a White Paper in Parliament and a Parliamentary Select Committee on Institutional Reforms formed on the CEP proposals to be implemented, including the system for the appointment of judges

The Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) report should be tabled as a White Paper in Parliament and a Parliamentary Select Committee on Institutional Reforms formed on the CEP proposals to be implemented, including the system for the appointment of judges.
Recently, the CEP chairman Tun Daim Zainuddin called on the government to make the CEP’s recommendations available to the public.
He said that as part of the CEP’s efforts to look into the government finances, it had interviewed more than 300 individuals, including bankers, businessmen, civil servants, civil society members and union officials.
Those interviews had revealed a culture of turning a blind eye towards corruption.

A note from Malaysian expert in Australia Dr. John Funston on 14th General Election
Posted by Kit in nation building, PH Government on Sunday, 7 October 2018
When I visited Canberra in my recent tour of eight Australian and New Zealand cities last month, a came across a note from a Malaysian expert in Austraia, Dr. John Funston, of the Department of Political and Social Change, College of Asia and the Pacific of Australian National University (ANU) whose preliminary studies showed that Malay support for UMNO in Peninsular Malaysia in the 14th General Election was only about 5% higher than support for Pakatan Harapan, and not 15% as had earlier been estimated by Merdeka Centre.
Polls analysis by Merdeka Centre have earlier estimated that some 95% of the Chinese and 70-75% of the Indian voters voted for Pakatan Harapan and a New Malaysia, while only 25 – 30% of the Malays voted for Pakatan Harapan and a New Malaysia.

Call on voters of Port Dickson to create history twice in six months – first time on May 9 and second time on October 13; and to vote for a New Malaysia and a New Port Dickson
Posted by Kit in Elections, nation building on Saturday, 6 October 2018
I call on the voters of Port Dickson to create history twice in six months.
The first time when they made history was on May 9, 2018 when together with justice-loving Malaysians, the voters of Port Dickson with a voter turnout olf 83%, voted solidly for a peaceful and democratic change of government in Putrajaya which for the first in many years made Malaysians both inside the country and in the worldwide Diaspora, stand tall and proud to be Malaysians.
The Pakatan Rakyat candidate won with 36,225 votes with a great majority of 17,710 votes, while the PAS candidate who took part in the three-cornered contest lost his deposit, securing only 6,594 votes. Read the rest of this entry »
New Malaysia is not what Mahathir, Anwar, Guan Eng, Sabu or myself individually want, but what Malaysians inside the country and worldwide Malaysian Diaspora want
Posted by Kit in nation building on Tuesday, 2 October 2018
Julia Yeow of The Malaysian Insight has described it well: “Not quite Malaysia Baru, but never again Malaysia Lama”!
Either in my introductory talk or during the Q & A session during my recent eight-city tour of the Malaysian Diaspora in Australia and New Zealand, I would stress three points:
Firstly, the New Malaysia which the historic 14th General Election on May 9, 2018 made possible has not fully taken shape, but struggling to be born;
Secondly, it is not possible to establish New Malaysia and undo the wrongs and injustices of the past six decades in 100 hundred days or even six months, as it is a task and mission that will take a decade or two; and
Thirdly, the New Malaysia is not what Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, Mohamad Sabu on myself individually want, but what Malaysians, both inside the country and the worldwide Malaysian Diaspora worldwide, want. Read the rest of this entry »
Malaysians must not waste the “second chance” to reset nation-building policies to fulfil our national destiny to be a great nation

Esther Wee, who had been in Auckland for fifteen years, flew back to Kuala Lumpur to vote for the 14th General Election to cast her vote for the Seputeh constituency, but when she went to her polling centre after lining up for nearly two hours, she was told by the Polling Agent that she could not vote, as her name in the polling roll had been deleted as her vote had already been posted to her to her Auckland address in New Zealand.
The postal ballot which the Election Commission sent to her in Auckland was only received on 11th May, two days after Polling Day on May 9, 2018. She has the Election Commission letter and the postal marks to prove such a shocking state of affairs in the second decade of the 21st century. Read the rest of this entry »
Soi Lek is not fully right – in fact, all former UMNO and MCA leaders who had been Ministers, Deputy Ministers and MPs should act honourably and not contest in any party posts in future
Posted by Kit in nation building on Friday, 28 September 2018
Former MCA President, Datuk Dr. Chua Soi Leok is not fully right in calling on all former MCA ministers and deputy ministers not to run for the presidency and other important central posts in the party’s upcoming election.
In fact, all former UMNO and MCA leaders who had been Ministers, Deputy Ministers and even MPs, whether Dewan Rakyat or Dewan Negara, should act honourably and not contest in any party posts in future.

Do not expect any hitches to Pakatan Harapan plan for Mahathir and Anwar to be seventh and eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia respectively
Posted by Kit in Malaysia Diaspora, nation building on Thursday, 27 September 2018
We are coming to the sixth month of the Pakatan Harapan Government entrusted with the task and mission of building a New Malaysia.
Speculation and talk have intensified that the differences, conflicts and contradictions intra-party and inter-party in Pakatan Harapan would lead to an implosion and crack-up of the Pakatan Harapan Government, with more and more attention devoted to the so-called differences between Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, whom the Pakatan Harapan had designated respectively as the seventh and eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia after the toppling of the Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018.
In fact, the raison d’etre of UMNO and Barisan Nasional in post-14th General Election is to plot for the break-up and downfall of the Pakatan Harapan Government before the 15th General Election in 2023, preferably within two years of the 14th General Election – but before the implosion of Pakatan Harapan coalition of four political parties, UMNO has imploded first with five MPs, two of whom senior former UMNO Ministers resigning from UMNO, leaving UMNO with 49 MPs in Parliament. Three rainbows welcome me to Dunedin – triple sign of great changes in Malaysia?
Posted by Kit in Malaysia Diaspora, nation building on Wednesday, 26 September 2018
I saw three rainbows when I entered Otago to visit its principal city Dunedin. What does it signify?
Rainbows are part of the myths of many cultures around the world. There is a myriad of beliefs concerning the rainbow. The complex diversity of rainbow myths are far-reaching, as are their inherent similarities.
One mythology about rainbows is particularly pertinent and even poignant in my present tour of Australian and New Zealand citizens to meet with the Malaysian Diaspora.

In a New Malaysia, Malaysia must be a world top-class nation which is capable of transforming itself from a global kleptocracy into a leading nation of integrity in the top one-fifth bracket of 35 countries in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI)
Posted by Kit in nation building on Wednesday, 26 September 2018
Malaysians made history in the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018 and many were moved to tears as the overwhelming majority of Malaysians, whether inside the country or spread worldwide in the Malaysian Diaspora, had not expected to see such change within their lifetime.
Malaysia had been given a second chance to re-set the nation-building process as we had lost our way in the past six decades, not only losing out to other nations which had been behind us in different indices of nation-building, but getting trapped in a trajectory which can only end in Malaysia becoming a failed state, a rogue democracy, a kakistocracy and global kleptocracy! I will return to Malaysia to campaign for Anwar to ensure Pakatan Harapan wins a resounding victory in Port Dickson by-election on 13th Oct signaling popular support for a New Malaysia

I am encouraged and lifted up by the positive responses I have received in my visits to Perth, Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne, suggesting that Malaysians in the worldwide Diaspora participate fully in the great task today of building a New Malaysia.
The great and historic result of the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018 has given Malaysians a second chance to reset nation-building policies to reject the trajectory towards a failed state, rogue democracy, kakistocracy where Cabinet Ministers cannot differentiate between a turtle egg and on ordinary egg, and a global kleptocracy towards a trajectory towards a united, harmonious and successful plural nation which is model of democracy, leading nation of integrity and a top world-class nation in every field of human endeavour.

Call for establishment of Diaspora New Malaysia with separate chapters in countries abroad or major foreign cities patterned after Bersih and Global Bersih as platforms for Malaysians to contribute and participate in the building of New Malaysia
Posted by Kit in nation building on Saturday, 22 September 2018
From the great turnout of Malaysians in the Diaspora in my talks in Perth, Canberra and tonight in Sydney, it is evident that regardless of time and place, Malaysians (including those who have taken up the citizenship of other countries) are concerned about the future of Malaysia and want to contribute to and participate in the building of a New Malaysia after the historic result of the 14th General Election on May 9,2018.
For this reason, I call for the establishment of a New Malaysia civil movement, in Malaysia as well as in Malaysian Diaspora worldwide, which can be called Diaspora New Malaysia with separate chapters in countries abroad or major foreign cities patterned after Bersih and Global Bersih as platforms for Malaysians to contribute to and participate in the building of New Malaysia. Preliminary studies by Dr. Funston show that Malay support for UMNO was only about 5% higher than support for PH, and not 15% as earlier been estimated by Merdeka Centre

The Attorney-General Tommy Thomas in his first major interview in Malaysiakini today said that it may take as long as a decade to complete the mammoth task of wide-ranging law reforms in the country.
I think Thomas was being conservative in his estimate, as it may take a decade or two to complete the great task to build a New Malaysia.
After the great and historic result of the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018, when Malaysians returned to the great and noble task to build a world-class nation – not in the worst possible sense of being a global kleptocracy but, in the words of Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman in the early years of nationhood, to be “ a beacon of light in a disturbed and distracted world”, a New Malaysia is struggling to be born! Call for a new civil movement in the country and worldwide Malaysian Diaspora to chart the building of a New Malaysia 2030
Posted by Kit in nation building on Wednesday, 19 September 2018
After the 2008 General Election which saw the UMNO/Barisan Nasional coalition losing power in five states, namely Penang, Selangor, Perak, Kedah and Kelantan, the idea of the toppling of UMNO/BN from Putrajaya became possible, achievable and dream-able in the nation’s history.
Before the 2008 General Election, nobody would have seriously entertained the notion that it was possible and achievable to bring about a transition of power through the democratic process.
But if you ask me during the 14th General Elections campaign whether the Pakatan Harapan would defeat the UMNO/Barisan Nasional coalition and oust Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the Prime Minister of Malaysia, I would not dare to answer in the affirmative, although I dedicated all my energies and efforts to this purpose – to the extent that I was campaigning outside my parliamentary constituency of Iskandar Puteri most of the campaign period, visiting 35 parliamentary constituencies in ten states during the 11-day 14th General Election campaign period. Call on all Malaysian patriots who made history on May 9 to bring about a peaceful and democratic transition of power in Malaysia to re-unite and join forces to create another history in Port Dickson in preparation for the second phase of a New Malaysia
Posted by Kit in nation building on Monday, 17 September 2018
Now that diverse views have been expressed about the forthcoming Port Dickson by-election for Anwar Ibrahim to take his rightful place in Parliament, I call on all Malaysian patriots who had made history on May 9 to bring about a peaceful and democratic transition of power in Malaysia to re-unite and join forces to create another history in Port Dickson in preparation for the second phase of a New Malaysia.
The great idea of a New Malaysia cannot be accomplished in one general electoral cycle but will need ten to 20 years to accomplish.
We do not want Malaysia just to take the first step of the first phase of a New Malaysia – when Malaysians whether in the country or the worldwide Diaspora felt proud to be Malaysians for the first time in many years and showed the world to have faith in the democratic process, especially at a time when democracy is undergoing world-wide crisis.
Let us fulfil the vision of Bapa Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman that Malaysia is a “beacon of light in a disturbed and distracted world” instead of a “black hole” of rogue democracy, kakistocracy and global kleptocracy in the world. Read the rest of this entry »
May 9, 2018 was a “gift of hope” which civic societies can help to fruition by playing an important role in nation building in New Malaysia – developing ways for the different races and religions to interact more and better understand each other

I am greatly honoured, deeply humbled and completely overwhelmed by the award of the Paul Harris Fellowship of Rotary Club of Damansara West.
I commend the Rotary Club of Damansara West for living up to the famous Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”, and in particular for its “Every Child Every Year”, “Gift of Heart” and “Gift of Sight” programmes to provide breakfast to needy children and bring life and sight to low-income families by funding pediatric hole-in-heart surgeries and cataract operations.
Tonight is a special occasion, for today is 5.9.2018, which has a special affinity to 9.5.2018, the Polling Day of the 14th General Election which provided to all Malaysians a “gift of hope” that life could be better in Malaysia under a new government, that Malaysians can hope and dream again to make Malaysia a great and respected nation in the world.
I recall that when I first set out 53 years ago on the political journey, there was no thought about elections, becoming a State Assemblyman, Member of Parliament or forming governments just ideals and principles although these became necessary elements in the ensuing process.
I was propelled solely by the idealism of youth to contribute to the building of a better Malaysia, which is united, harmonious, democratic, progressive and prosperous, where there is rule of law, good governance, public integrity and economic well-being; to build a Malaysia which is admired and respected by the world as a world-class nation in various fields of human endeavour.
Or in the words of Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman, the vision of Malaysia as “a beacon of light in a difficult and distracted world”. Read the rest of this entry »
Four tests whether the Malaysian ship of state is turning in a direction of greater integrity, rule of law and democracy towards a New Malaysia
Posted by Kit in nation building, Pakatan Harapan on Saturday, 18 August 2018
The 100-day syndrome has inundated the media with headlines like “100 Days – New Malaysia”; “Prestasi 100 Hari”; “Janji 100 hari tertunai?”, “100-day report card on Pakatan Harapan: Looking Rosy for Now” and “What The People Say”.
While it is good to assess what had been achieved in the first 100 days of the Pakatan Harapan government as a form of report card, what is more important is whether the Malaysian ship of state had made a critical turn of direction from a trajectory of a failed, kleptocratic and kakistocratic state to a trajectory of greater national unity, integrity, democracy, rule of law and excellence.
While it is not possible to undo in 100 days all the abuses and excesses of power in over six decades of power, the country should have set a new course in nation-building in the first 100 days of the Pakatan Harapan Government towards a New Malaysia. Read the rest of this entry »
