Why is the Muhyiddin government continuing to undermine public confidence and trust which detract from efforts to unite all Malaysians in an all-out-war against the Covid-19 pandemic?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

When I wrote in my media statement on March 20, 2020, that “Global news about the Covid-19 pandemic continues to be bleak and ominous”, nobody had expected that after more than six months, global news about the Covid-19 pandemic would be many times more bleak and ominous.

At that time, Italy reached a new milestone when its deaths linked to the virus soared to 3,405, exceeding the toll of 3,248 deaths in China, where the virus first broke out.

The spread of Covid-19 in Italy had been swift and terrifying, even after the country imposed strict limits on people’s movements. As the death toll rose, traditional funeral services were outlawed as part of the national restrictions against gatherings.

Call on Cabinet on Wednesday to pass a special allocation to fight the Covid-19 third wave

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Cabinet on Wednesday should pass a special allocation to fight the Covid-19 third wave.

With another 317 new Covid-10 cases yesterday, the second straight day in a row where the number of new infections recorded has been the highest in the country to date, there are now 1,735 active Covid-19 cases nationwide.

The Sungai Buloh Hospital is gearing up for another Covid-19 wave to be a “full Covid-19” hospital again and the Director-General of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah has been drumming home the message to the frontliners to be prepared for a new battle.

Does Noor Hisham’s advice to those returning from Sabah general election campaign to complete 14-day home quarantine even if tested negative for Covid apply to the Prime Minister?

The Director-General of Health, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has advised all those returning from Sabah general election campaign to Peninsular Malaysia to complete 14-day home quarantine even if they are tested negative for Covid-19.

Does this advice apply to the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who this morning chaired a special National Security Council meeting on Covid-19 in Putrajaya?

Does it apply to all Ministers and Deputy Ministers, as well as all Perikatan Nasional and Barisan Nasional leaders who had campaigned in Sabah?

Let me declare that I have been tested negative for Covid 19 on my return from Sabah but am undergoing home quarantine for 14 days.

The Original Sin of Malaysia’s Covid 19 crisis was the Sheraton Move toppling the Pakatan Harapan Government, sparking the Second and Third Waves which have caused 136 unnecessary deaths

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah seems to be right that Malaysia is facing the “the beginning of a new wave” with the country recording 287 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, making it the country’s highest daily increase throughout the pandemic so far.

Six months ago, I suggested the establishment of a Covid-19 Pandemic Study Centre to learn from the successes and mistakes of other nations and to ensure that Malaysia does not lead the world in using the pandemic to emasculate and marginalise Parliament and human rights.

But we seem to be unable to learn from the success of other nations in the combat against Covid-19. Read the rest of this entry »

Noor Hisham says Malaysia probably experiencing a “new wave” of Covid 19 cases – but is it a second wave or a third wave?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said yesterday that Malaysia was probably experiencing a “new wave” as Covid-19 case numbers continued to climb [1].

He said at yesterday’s press conference: “If we look at the chart, we have an increase in cases lately. That probably is the beginning of a new wave.”

New Covid-19 case numbers reported yesterday hit 260 – the highest registered number of new cases since June 4.

But is Malaysia facing a second wave or a third wave?

Is PAS Minister Khairuddin on leave pending police investigations or not?

9Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Malaysiakini reported that there are conflicting claims surrounding the status of Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali, who is being investigated for not adhering to the Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) after returning from abroad.

Highly-placed sources informed Malaysiakini the PAS leader is on leave pending the outcome of the probe and this was conveyed to the cabinet last week.

However, this has been denied by the Minister’s aide, Muhammad Faudzi Jalil, who said it was business as usual for his boss.

The Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, should explain whether his Plantation Industries and Commodities Minster is on leave or not. Read the rest of this entry »

Would the 66th PAS National Delegates Assembly have ignored Khairuddin’s violation of Covid 19 quarantine SOP if he had not donated RM50,000 to his party?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Would the 66th PAS National Delegates Assembly have ignored PAS Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, Khairuddin Aman Razali’s violation of Covid 19 quarantine SOP when he returned from Turkey on July 7, if he had not donated RM50,000 to his party?

This is a question many are asking.

Khairuddin’s donation was announced by the PAS Assembly permanent chairperson Husin Ismail after the PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang’s speech.

Political analysts had expected the PAS Assembly to touch on the Khairuddin episode and the issue of the performance of the PAS ministers in the Perikatan Nasional administration thus far, as currently, people do not have confidence in the abilities of PAS Ministers in the Cabinet, as UMNO Ministers and Deputy Ministers were seen as performing better.

But there was no questioning of the Khairuddin affair at all. Read the rest of this entry »

PAS Minister Khairuddin symbolises one the major dereliction of the Perikatan Nasional government – violation of Rukun Negara and double standards in the country

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Plantation and Commodities Minister, Khairuddin Aman Razali from PAS now symbolises one of the major dereliction of the Perikatan Nasional government – violation of Rukun Negara and double standards in the country.

When this morning I read news about a senior police officer being among the 227 people detained in operations to check compliance with the recovery movement control order (RMCO) in Petaling Jaya earlier today, the first person who come to my mind is Khairuddin.

I believe I speak for all Malaysians wondering why Police is taking such an inordinately long time to decide on action against Khairuddin for his breach of RMCO SOPs, when everyday, actions are being taken against ordinary Malaysians for non-compliance with RMCO rules and regulations. Government should adopt a flexible and nimble policy and approach to deal with Covid-19 pandemic and not a “one size fits all” situation

The Covid-19 pandemic chalked up four dubious records in the world in the past 24 hours:

(i) Achieving a single-day increase global record for Covid-19 cases as it registered 300,474 new Covid-190 cases, the first time daily new infections have breached the 300,000-mark;

(ii) Global cumulative total of Covid-19 infections breached the 27 million mark and stands at present at 27,069,983 cases;

(iii) Russia joins United States, Brazil and India to be the fourth country in the world with a cumulative total of over a million cases, viz: Read the rest of this entry »

Why the reluctance to come clean and tell all about Khairuddin and his entourage’s trip to Turkey and breaches of Covid-19 quarantine SOP?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Health director-general Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah had declined to respond to an accusation that the ministry was to be blamed for the failure of cabinet minister Khairuddin Aman Razali to quarantine himself after returning from Turkey.

I support Noor Hisham as this is a political question which should not be answered by any civil servant, but a question to be answered by the political leaders, which is why I had specifically ask the Health Minister, Dr. Adham Baba, to explain whether the Health Ministry was guilty as charged by PAS and whether their silence constituted an admission of guilt.

In my media statement yesterday, I had referred to the accusation levelled by the PAS spiritual leader Hashim Jasin at the PAS Muktamar in Ipoh last weekend that Khairuddin should be considered a hero even though he broke Covid-19 quarantine rules as his trip to Turkey had brought benefits to the oil palm sector. Khairuddin’s ‘million apologies” totally insincere and opportunistic as he now claims he had done nothing wrong in violating the Covid 19 quarantine SOP

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razal’s “million apologies” last Saturday is totally insincere and opportunistic as he now claims he had done nothing wrong in violating the Covid-19 quarantine SOP when he returned from Turkey on July 7.

He said: “I did not do anything wrong in regard to my job, it only involved an error over the issue of the SOPs.

“I have my own view but I let the police (to probe). The Health Ministry had also issued a statement. For me, it’s solved, although I have my own view.”

The way Khairuddin strutted about in the Slim River by-election yesterday shows his new awareness of his untouchability as a Minister whatever mistake he makes, for the simple reason that the government of Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is so fragile that it would collapse if the Prime Minister enforces the principle of no one above the law.

As a result, the Prime Minister is left with the option of paying lip-service to this principle in the face of mounting cases of double standards in the application of the law.

If he is faultless, why is Khairuddin donating his salary as a minister from May to August to the Covid-19 fund?

The awful truth is that ten days after MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok exposed his violation of the Covid 19 quarantine SOP on his return from Turkey on July 7, the whole story has yet to be told, for example: did Khairuddin have the authorisation of the Prime Minister for his Turkish visit, how large was the delegation, why none of them wore the pink wristband and quarantined for 14 days under the Covid 19 SOP, why the lies about a “special test” for Ministers at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and that Turkey was at the relevant time a “green country zone” in the Covid-19 pandemic, when Turkey was in fact one of the epicentres of the pandemic.

======================

Khairuddin’s image haunts Muhyiddin’s live telecast announcing the extension of RMCO as the single foremost question in the minds of Malaysians is the government’s double standards for breach of Covid-19 quarantine SOP

Malaysians following the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s live telecast tonight are interested in two things: firstly, whether the RMCO would be extended and the outcome of police investigations ten days after the DAP MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok revealed in Parliament about the flagrant breach of Covid-19 quarantine SOP by the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali on July 7.

It is no exaggeration to say that although the live image on the television screen was that of the Prime Minister, for the overwhelming majority of Malaysians, Khairuddin’s image haunts Muhyiddin’s live telecast.

But Malaysians are disappointed. There is only the hypocritical advice by the Prime Minister to Malaysians to be responsible and disciplined to follow the Covid-19 SOP, but such advice do not extend to his Cabinet Ministers. Read the rest of this entry »

How a Cabinet Minister became a fugitive from justice?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

Two days ago, Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said he was unsure if Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali visited Turkey alone or with other people.

“I only know about the minister. Whoever followed him, I’m not sure,” he said at a press conference.

The Minister’s ignorance is shocking news.

Didn’t Khairuddin report to the Cabinet last week after DAP MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok revealed to Parliament last Tuesday about Khairuddin and his entourage breaching the Covid 19 quarantine SOP for people leaving and returning to the country?

Even if Khairuddin had not reported to the Cabinet, didn’t he and the other Cabinet Ministers asked Khairuddin to give a report?

Or has Malaysia a dumb Cabinet where Ministers dare not mind the business of other Ministers, even if this would be most damaging for Malaysia’s reputation? Read the rest of this entry »

Call on Muhyiddin to make public the report of the Health Ministry internal investigation on Khairuddin’s violation of the Covid 19 quarantine SOP

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The admission by the Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah that top Ministry officials were in the dark about Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali’s violation of home quarantine rules until last week is quite a shocker.

Equally astounding is that an internal investigation into the series of events following the minister’s July 7 return from Turkey has been kept as a secret from the public.

At yesterday’s press conference, Noor Hisham admitted that he, along with the ministry’s deputy director-general and head of infectious diseases, were not informed about the matter until it made the news.

He said he instructed an internal investigation to be held and he has received the full report of what happened from the ground. Read the rest of this entry »

Going by the record, it is likely that with Dzulkefly as Health Minister, a Pakatan Harapan Government would have done better in the fight against the Covid-19 outbreak than the Perikatan Nasional Government

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The Perikatan Nasional campaign in the Slim River by-election has produced many outrageous events which highlight the need for a new political culture which upholds the five Rukunegara principles and the objectives of truth and fair play.

The most abominable so far had been outrageous statement by Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, that there would be more Covid-19 cases and deaths in Malaysia under a Pakatan Harapan Government.

Actually, the truth could be the opposite.

Under the Pakatan Harapan Minister of Health, Dzulkefly Ahmad, before the infamous Sheraton Move on February 23, 2020 and before the second wave of Covid-19 attacked the country, Malaysia had a good and great record in fighting Covid-19. Read the rest of this entry »

The Khairuddin quarantine charade – Just tell the truth, no cover-ups, no make-ups and any other cock-and-bull stories

The time has come for the Perikatan Nasional government to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about the Khairuddin quarantine charade – no cover-ups, no make-ups or any other cock-and-bull stories.

Start with:

– the names of those in the Khairuddin tour who visited Turkey from July 3 -7, whether in their official or private capacity;

– whether authorisation by the Prime Minister was given for the Turkish trip, why and the the nature of the authorisation;

– the full programme – both official and private – of the group in Turkey from July 3 – 7; Read the rest of this entry »

RM1,000 fine for PAS Minister to end the growing storm over his Covid-19 SOP breach sounds very fishy and contrived – why Khairuddin did not admit right from the beginning, what is the Health Ministry investigation about and what about others in Khairuddin’s trip to Turkey?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

RM1,000 fine for the PAS Minister for Plantation, Industries and Commodities, Khairuddin Aman Razali to end the growing  storm over his Covid-19 SOP breach sounds very fishy and contrived as it raises more questions.

If the Health Ministry had acted  as early as August 7 and issued a compound of RM1,000 on August 7 and the Minister had paid the compound, the questions that arises include:

  1. Why the Minister had not admitted the SOP breach right from the beginning when the DAP MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok raised it in Parliament on August 18;
  2. Why the cock-and-bull story that the Minister’s trip to Turkey had the approval of the Prime Minister, that he had escaped 14-day quarantine because he was found “negative” in a “special test” for Ministers to go in and out of the country and that Turkey was a “green country (zone)” for Covid-19 pandemic!
  3. If action had already been taken on August 7, what was all the Health Ministry investigation in the last four days about?
  4. Is the payment of the M1,000 compound fine by Khairudddin on August 7 true?
  5. Why didn’t the Health Ministry require Khairruddin to wear the pink wristband, monitor and require him to be quarantined? Did Khairuddin defy such quarantine instructions?
  6. What about the others in Khairuddin’s trip to Turkey. How many of them,  who are they and were they all compounded?

Is Muhyiddin such a weak Prime Minister that he cannot or dare not impose discipline on his own Cabinet as his Ministers have no qualm in ignoring or defying him?

(Tatal ke bawah untuk kenyataan versi BM)

The silence of the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been thunderous.

The scandal of the Cabinet Minister who defied the Covid-19 SOP by not undergoing the stipulated 14-day quarantine SOP after returning from a five-day trip to Turkey in early July raises the question whether Muhyiddin is such a weak Prime Minister that he cannot or dare not impose discipline on his own Cabinet as his Ministers have no qualm in ignoring or defying him.

Four days have passed since the DAP MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok raised in Parliament the case of a Cabinet Minister who visited Turkey for five days and returned without undergoing the stipulated 14-day quarantine.

The attitude of the defaulting Minister is akin to the posture struck by a former Prime Minister – “Malu Apa Bossku”! Read the rest of this entry »
