Would Najib agree that it would be a disservice to the legacy of public integrity of his father, the second Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Razak, not to wipe out the infamy of Malaysia as a kleptocracy?

Former Prime Minister, Najib Razak claimed that the Pakatan Harapan government investigation in 2018 did not find any evidence that he was involved in the 2002 Scorpene submarine deal, adding that it was a part of the opposition’s propaganda to tarnish his image.
I was never in the Pakatan Harapan government and I was not privy to any information as to the outcome of any investigation as to whether Najib, who was the Defence Minister in 2002, was involved in the 2002 Scorpene submarine scandal as I never asked the then Prime Minister, Attorney-General, the Inspector General of Police or Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) about the matter. Malaysia must be a responsible member of the international community of nations by putting to rest two grand corruption scandals – firstly, the Scorpene submarine scandal and the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu and secondly, the 1MDB scandal.
I suggested yesterday that the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) should investigate the 2002 Scorpene submarine corruption case and the murder of Altantunya Shaariibuu following the charging of the French company Thales by the French Government for complicity in bribery of the Scorpene submarine deal in Malaysia two decades ago and that the PAC can do so under Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders 77(d) which provides that the PAC can examine “(d) such other matters as the Committee may think fit, or which may be referred to the Committee by the House.”

The Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) should investigate the 2002 Scorpene submarine corruption case and the murder of Altantunya Shaariibuu following the charging of the Frenchs company Thales by the French Government for complicity in bribery of the Scorpene submarine deal in Malaysia two decades ago.
The Public Accounts Committee can act under Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders 77(d) which provides that the PAC can examine “(d) such other matters as the Committee may think fit, or which may be referred to the Committee by the House.” Read the rest of this entry »

Will Malaysia become a failed state by 2050 or 2063?
Last Wednesday, the sixth Malaysian Prime Minister wrote in his Facebook displaying the cover my 1978 book “Time Bombs in Malaysia”:
“Dari permulaan karier politiknya pada tahun 1960an, Uncle sering beri amaran bahawa Malaysia bakal muflis dan menjadi failed state.

During my schooldays in Batu Pahat in the fifties, Ceylon (which later changed its name to Sri Lanka in 1972 after becoming a republic) was one of the most prosperous countries in Asia, more developed than many Asian countries like Thailand, South Korea, India, Pakistan and Burma.
But it took a wrong turn in nation-building policies and today after more than half a century later, it is on the verge of becoming a failed state.

When I announced my political retirement at the DAP congress on March 20, 2022 it was a retirement from party elections and leadership, parliamentary and state assembly elections.
One cannot retire completely from politics unless one retires from life, for politics impinges on every aspect of one’s life.

I thank Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Datin Seri Wan Azizah for the generosity and friendship in organising this dinner and MPs and Selangor Legislative Assembly members for their solidarity and support in attending this dinner on my political retirement
I have just returned from Kampong Bakuku in Sabah and I would not be surprised if you have not heard of this kampong, as I was not aware of it until I visited it in Tenom near the Sabah/Sarawak border yesterday, for Impian Malaysia is having a three-day medical camp for the villagers in the surrounding kampongs.
