The Parliament lockdown since last Thursday is a great national disservice as Malaysia is heading towards half-a-million Covid-19 cases and 6,000 Covid-19 deaths in August resulting in Malaysia having a cumulative total exceeding 1.5 million Covid-19 cases and 15,000 Covid-19 deaths on the 64th National Day on August 31.
Parliament should be meeting to draft a new policy and strategy to avert these calamitous figures on August 31, but instead Members of Parliament were blocked from Parliament and the Parliament special meeting truncated, after being distracted from focusing on the Covid-19 pandemic with a major constitutional crisis. The MP for Tanjung Karang, Noh Omar told Parliament last Wednesday that government-linked company Pharmaniaga had 3.2 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine in excess supply in storage, which has not been denied.

I find no pleasure whatsoever but great sadness that my predictions about the worsening Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia have been proven true – that today, Malaysia breaks the 1.1 million-mark for Covid-19 cases setting a new daily peak of 17,786 new Covid-19 cases, breaks the 9,000 mark for Covid-19 deaths and is No.28 among countries with the most cumulative cases of Covid-19 cases.
We were ranked No. 31 at the start of the five-day Parliament special meeting, but we have over taken Pakistan, Romania and Sweden, and tomorrow will be ranked No. 27 after overtaking Belgium in having the most the cumulative total of Covid-19 cases. Read the rest of this entry »

Are we some sixty hours to a major constitutional crisis in Malaysia – which will be a double whammy for Malaysians on top of the mishandling of the Covid-19 pandemic which has catapulted Malaysia to be one the world’s dozen countries which are the worst performers in the pandemic whether because of daily new cases or daily Covid-19 deaths.
If by Saturday midnight – some sixty hours from now – there is no Royal Assent to the revocation of six Emergency Ordinances announced in Parliament on Monday by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Parliament), Takiyuddin Hassan, Malaysia will be plunged into a major constitutional crisis. Recently, daily Covid-19 are set to rise even further after they hit a record 17,045 infections a few days ago, but the public have been advised not be alarmed over the rise in infections over the next few days as the surge in cases, especially in the Klang Valley, is caused by an increase of tests, especially in the use of RTK-Antigen test kits and self-test kits.
The public can understand the daily increase of Covid-19 cases as a result of increased Covid-19 testings to identify as many cases as possible to reduce transmission in the community so that as more of these positive cases and their contacts are isolated and quarantined, cases will start to gradually come down in the weeks to come.
