The RM 10,000 fine on PKR for the crowdless ceramah in Paya Rumput, Melaka last night is the height of idiocy in the Covid-19 pandemic for the forthcoming Malacca state general election.
I would have thought Malacca PKR should be commended for coming up with a very novel way of electioneering in the forthcoming general election in Malacca which takes into account the paramount consideration not to worsen the Covid-19 situation and yet further the objective of free, fair and clean election – but instead, there was a $10,000 fine. The Health Ministry should produce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for election for all the four phases of the National Recovery Plan in Malaysia and ensure that there is no Dua Darjat in their implementation instead of arbitrarily banning all physical gatherings and social events related to the Malacca state general election from Oct 25 to Nov. 27.

Pakatan Nasional Chief Muhydidin Yassin has announced that PN coalition will likely contest all 28 state seats in the upcoming Malacca polls.

The new Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri’s tweet that “Nobody is above the law” reinforced confidence that the new Prime Minister will uphold the rule of law and good governance principles as well as brightened the prospects of a confidence-supply-reform agreement between the government and opposition.
Ismail’s tweet was in reply to DAP MP for Ipoh Barat, M.Kula Segaran and thanking the former Minister for his concern over the death of security guard, Thava Sagayam, who was assaulted at a condominium in Ipoh last December for refusing to allow the use of the condominium’s swimming pool, which was closed. Five years ago, on June 18, 2016, Pakatan Harapan lost badly in two parliamentary by-elections – one in Sungai Besar and the other in Kuala Kangsar.
The Pakatan Harapan candidate in Sungai Besar by-election, Azhar Abdul Shukor of Amanah lost by a majority of 9,191 votes while in Kuala Kangsar, Ahmad Termizi Ramli of Amanah lost by a majority of 6,969 votes. Read the rest of this entry »
Most shocking that Hadi still opposes giving the right to vote to those above 18 years old when I had called for such a right to be given to 18 year-olds in Parliament fifty years ago

I am thoroughly shocked that the PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang still opposes giving the right to vote to those above 18 years old when I had called for such a right in Parliament 50 years ago on Human Rights Day on 10th December 197l.
This means that when Hadi voted for the constitutional amendment in 2019 giving voting rights to Malaysians above 18 years old, it was not a genuine vote of support.
Supporting the delay in the implementation of the 2019 parliamentary unanimous vote for the constitutional amendment to give the right to vote to those above 18 years in the next general election, Hadi said voting needs maturity and that voters who are not mature will pick an immature government. Abdullah Ghani Salleh should resign as Election Commission Chairman and give way to a new Chairman who can fulfil Parliament’s mandate to ensure Malaysians over the age of 18 can vote in the next general election.
The Election Commission announcement yesterday that Malaysians between 18 – 21 years will likely not be able to vote in the next general election is a fundamental breach of Parliament’s mandate which unanimously amended the Constitution in July 2019 to allow Malaysians above 18 years to vote, as well to allow for automatic voter registration.

Muhyiddin is now a weaker Prime Minister at the end of 2020 Sabah state general election than at the beginning two weeks ago

It has been said that a week is a long time in politics, but Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasssin has found that two weeks is a longer time in politics.
Muhyiddin is now a weaker Prime Minister at the end of the 2020 Sabah state general election than at the beginning two weeks ago.
Muhyiddin asked the people of Sabah to make the Sabah state election a turning point towards a better future for Sabah.

I was visiting the Sabah political shrine of Tambunan when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had his noon media conference that he had the numbers to become the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
I last met Anwar before I came to Sabah to compaign for Warisan Plus candidates in the Sabah state general election campaign when Anwar assured me that he was not contacting former UMNO leaders like Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi nor the PAS leadership in the attempt to regain the people’s mandate which was illegitimately robbed in the “Sheraton Move” conspiracy in February 2020 which toppled the 22-month Pakatan Harapan Government.
I have been in Sabah since Sept. 14 and have not been in contact with Anwar, and Anwar’s media conference today is as much a surprise to me as to anyone else.
A lot of political undercurrents are afoot in Malaysia, and the Sabah state general election on Saturday on Sept. 26 is only a forerunner to greater political developments at the national level.
It is no secret for instance that UMNO leaders want snap general election because they believe that with the tie-up with PAS, they are likely to regain control and even hegemony of the Federal Government as well as the premiership.
They have scant respect and regard for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister who, I am sure, is politically astute enough to know that he will be the first casualty in a snap general election as nobody would support him as Prime Minister after a snap poll.
Even in Bersatu, there are other political leaders eying the PM’s post.

government to illegally transfer military voters to shore up the support for four Ministers for the 14th General Election – Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi (Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister), Datuk Seri Hishamuddin
Hussein (Defence Minister), Datuk Seri Ibrahim Sabry Yaakob (Minister for Rural and Regional
Development) and Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam (Minister for Health).
Last Wednesday, the Election Commission Chairman Azhar Azizan Harun said the Election Commission is awaiting a full audit report by a special investigation committee on procurement, governance and finance in the Defence Ministry led by former auditor-general Tan Sri Ambrin Buang appointed by the new Pakatan Harapan Government.
The Ambrin audit report had reported that EC officials were complicit in aiding the ministry in the transfer of military voters to camps built in Bera (Pahang), Segamat (Johor), Paloh (Johor) and Hutan Melintang (Perak) in time to

The Port Dickson by-election is as history-making as the 14th General Election result of May 9, 2018 with a three-point five-month verdict endorsing a New Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the eighth Prime Minister-designate after Tun Dr. Mahathir and a New Port Dickson to restore Port Dickson’s previous pre-eminence and glory as a premier tourist destination.
Despite a low voter turn-out of 58.3%, Anwar secured 31,016 votes or a 23,560-vote majority, which eclipsed that of the PKR’s Danyal Balagopal Abdullah who won the seat in the 14th general election by a margin of 17,710 votes with a voter turnout of 83%. Read the rest of this entry »
Will Isa and PAS candidate lose their deposits in the Port Dickson by-election tomorrow?
The polling survey by Institute Darul Ehsan (IDE) on the eve of the by-election tomorrow is most interesting – not whether Anwar Ibrahim is on track to defeat his six opponents or Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan will sink to the bottom, but that the PAS candidate would only maintain its 11% of the votes in the 14th General
Election while former Mentri Besar Mohd Isa Samad would only garner 10 per cent of the votes cast.
If Isa Samad had not contested, and the bulk of the majority of UMNO votes had gone to the PAS candidate as conspired by UMNO and PAS leaders, then the PAS candidate would be able to retain his deposit in the by-election as PAS secured just short of 11% of the votes cast in the last general election (short of the 12.5% of the votes cast necessary to retain his deposit).
Many had expected Isa to do better than the PAS candidate in the by-election but the IDE survey shows otherwise, that PAS would maintain its 11% of the votes cast previously while Isa would get only 10 per cent of the votes cast, both forfeiting their deposits in being unable to get at least 12.5% of the votes cast.

I call on the voters of Port Dickson to create history twice in six months.
The first time when they made history was on May 9, 2018 when together with justice-loving Malaysians, the voters of Port Dickson with a voter turnout olf 83%, voted solidly for a peaceful and democratic change of government in Putrajaya which for the first in many years made Malaysians both inside the country and in the worldwide Diaspora, stand tall and proud to be Malaysians.
The Pakatan Rakyat candidate won with 36,225 votes with a great majority of 17,710 votes, while the PAS candidate who took part in the three-cornered contest lost his deposit, securing only 6,594 votes. Read the rest of this entry »
