It is two weeks after the signing of the confidence-supply-reform (CSR) memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri and the Pakatan Harapan leaders, Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, Mohamad Sabu and Wilfred Madius Tangau but many people still believe that the CSR MOU was a betrayal of the principles and objectives by the Opposition leaders or that it was a “trap” by Ismail Sabri.

The confidence-supply-reform (CSR) memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri and the Pakatan Harapan leaders on Sept. 10 has given rise to very divided public opinion.
There are those who oppose the CSR MOU on the grounds that the Opposition should not betray their principles and objectives or feared that it would signify the demise of the Opposition.

I welcome the announcement by the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions), Mastura Mohd Yazid in Parliament today that both government and opposition MPs will be given equal allocation for the final four months of this year for their parliamentary constituencies.

Congrats Khairy, for bringing down daily new Covid-19 cases to below 14,000 cases yesterday – first time since two months ago – and now to surmount the next hurdle to bring down daily new Covid-19 cases to below 4,000 cases as four months ago and supposed to be one of the three thresholds for transiting from Phase One of National Recovery Plan
Congratulations to Khairy Jamaluddin, the Health Minister, for bringing down daily new Covid-19 cases to below 14,000 cases yesterday – the first time since two months ago – and now to surmount the next hurdle to bring down daily new Covid-19 cases to below 4,000 cases as four months ago and which was supposed to be one of the three thresholds for transiting from Phase One of the National Recovery Plan announced by the former Prime Minister on 15th June 2021.
There is also the good news of daily Covid-19 deaths plunging from 487 deaths (including 161 Brought-in-Dead BID deaths) on Tuesday to 116 Covid-19 deaths (with only 29 BID deaths) yesterday.

The primary reason for the confidence-supply-reform (CSR) memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by the Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri and Pakatan Harapan leaders is the worsening Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Worldometer website, we have beaten all the major nations in the world whether China, India, Russia, Japan, United States, United Kingdom, Indonesia or Australia in the category “Deaths in the last seven days per 1 million population” and the only states worse than Malaysia are some of the mini-states and small island nations having population of less than three million people. Let me clarify what I had said at the zoom meeting with DAP Selangor leaders on Sunday: the confidence-supply-reform (CSR) memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri and the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders last Monday is not sure to fail but any failure must not stem from the Pakatan Harapan.
There are those who thought that I had said that the CSR MOU is sure to fail. I did not say that.
But many are expecting the CSR MOU to fail but we in DAP and PH want the CSR MOU to succeed, for its success will usher in a new political landscape for Malaysia. Read the rest of this entry »

One question that is frequently asked in DAP zoom meetings throughout the country is whether the confidence-supply-reform (CSR) memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri and Pakatan Harapan can fail.
Yes, the CSR MOU can fail as the Ismail Sabri government is not a Pakatan Harapan government, but any such failure must not stem from Pakatan Harapan parties not honouring their commitments under the MOU.

Despite my mounting reservations about Ismail Sabri’s premiership in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic and reset the country’s democratic direction, Malaysians should give the ninth Prime Minister a chance to acquit himself and support the confidence-supply-reform (CSR) memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by Ismail and Pakatan Harapan leaders on Monday.

There is no guarantee that the confidence-supply-reform (CSR) memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri and Pakatan Harapan (PH) parties will successfully usher Malaysia into a new political landscape.
The CSR MOU has evoked a whole spectrum of reactions, from a G25 spokesman and a former Treasury secretary-general in the early nineties who said there was now hope that the country will progress towards a smooth pandemic recovery as he was more confident about the country moving ahead compared to just a few days ago and saw light at the end of the tunnel to the other extreme that saw the CSR MOU as giving a life-line to those who wanted Malaysia to continue in the trajectory towards a kleptocracy, kakistocracy and a failed state. The ninth Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri, would have been defeated in his first vote on the Deputy Speakership in Parliament yesterday and which may give him the shortest tenure of premiership than Muhyiddin Yassin if not for the confidence-supply-reform Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan a day earlier on Monday, 13th September 2021.
But with the CSR MOU, a new political landscape had started, and the deputy speaker election was postponed to the next Parliament meeting when the Federal Constitution would be amended to create a third deputy speaker post for the opposition.
