Parliament Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof’s lifting of the ban on MPs from questioning and debating the international 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal is an important step to restore the doctrine of separation of powers and public respect for Parliament as the highest political chamber in the land.
It also cries out for the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak to answer the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) litigation suit with contained many grave charges of corruption and money-laundering against him, as he was identified as “MALAYSIAN OFFICIAL 1 (MO1)”.
Barisan Nasional Strategic Communications Director and former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department in charge of Economic Planning Unit, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan, had admitted at the BBC interview in September 2016 that “MO1” is Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and that only an idiot does not know that “MO1” is Najib.
All who had served as Ministers in the Cabinet government in the past two years should declare whether they were “idiots” or they had known all along that Najib was “MO1” who was cited 26 times in the US DOJ 1MDB litigation suit and they were only putting up a great pretence of ignorance to the Malaysian people? UMNO is sinking lower and lower, day after day

New UMNO President and Parliamentary Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi said in his speech in Parliament on Wednesday that May 9 was a tragedy and a nightmare.
Yes, it was a tragedy and nightmare to the UMNO and Barisan Nasional leaders, but to the overwhelming majority of patriotic Malaysians both inside the country and in the Malaysian Diaspora worldwide, it was a day of liberation, of hope reborn that Malaysia can be saved from becoming a global kleptocracy and be great again, as expressed by Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman during the founding of the nation to be “a beacon of light in a difficult and distured world” instead of being “a zone of darkness in the world of corruption and money-laundering”.
UMNO, the great political party of Onn Jaffar, Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Razak and Tun Hussein is sinking lower and lower, day after day, as in the past three days.
On Wednesday, Malaysiakini, in its latest microsite, revealed that in total, at least RM470 million went from 1MDB to various political entities through 102 transactions, excluding individuals, between April 2012 and August 2013.
Umno received the lion’s share, at RM417.4 million or 88.8 percent of the funds. The next biggest recipients were MIC at RM20.55 million, and MCA at RM16.5 million. Up to now, UMNO and the other BN parties have kept an indiscreet silence. Read the rest of this entry »
Call on UMNO and PAS leaders to heed the advice of the Yang di Pertuan Agong and not to sow disunity, incite hatred or concoct lies and far-fetched theories solely for anyone’s political interests

I call on all UMNO and PAS leaders, especially Members of Parliament, to heed the advice of the Yang di Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V in his speech opening the 14th Parliament today and not to sow disunity, incite hatred or concoct lies and far-fetched theories just for anyone’s political interests.
The Yang di Pertuan Agong today urged all parties to work together for unity and to find solutions for the nation’s survival instead of being emotional and prejudiced.
He said rightly about the historic and watershed 14th General Election on Mayh 9, 2018 that “the people have chosen” and “all parties should accept and respect the result of the general election without being emotional, narrow-minded, prejudiced and having slanderous thoughts that are influenced by sensationalist and speculative media”.
The Agong’s call to all parties to “work to find common ground and cooperate for the well-being of the people and the survival of the nation” must be the overarching spirit of the 11-day debate on the royal address in Parliament, which as the Yang di Pertuan Agong has rightly pointed out, is “an enormous responsibility” for the MPs in the 14th Parliament.
I call on all MPs, on both sides of the House, to respond to the Yang di Pertuan Agong’s call for a “healthy, mature, stimulating and dynamic debates to find and uphold the truth, by conveying suggestions as well as criticism with wisdom and civility” and not to abuse parliamentary privileges by retailing lies and false news, so that Malaysians can begin to respect their own Parliament. Why did the PAS/UMNO/MCA/MIC MPs return to the Chambers to be sworn in if they really believe that Ariff was improperly elected as Speaker of Parliament

I have been mystified all this morning – why did the PAS/UMNO/MCA/MIC Members of Parliament return to the Parliamentary Chambers to be sworn in if they if they really believe that Datuk Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof had been improperly elected as Speaker of Parliament?
Led by PAS MPs, the UMNO/MCA/MIC Members of Parliament, except for Khairy Jamaluddin and Anifah Aman, walked out of Parliament in the first few minutes of the 14th Parliament, which appears to set to tone for a most negative, divisive and destructive performance by the Opposition in the 14th Parliament – unless the various party leaders, including the PAS President, Datuk Seri Awang Hadi and the UMNO President, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi could give a cogent, reasonable and acceptable reason for such double standards.
If PAS and UMNO leaders cannot give a cogent, reasonable and acceptable explanation, I do not expect their MCA and MIC counterparts to be able to do so, and I shall not ask them at all.
Althogh I felt a sense of déjà vu with the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi staging a walkout of Parliament in the first few minutes of the 14th Parliament, I would advise them not to emulate the actions of the former Opposition blindly, that they must have cogent, coherent, reasonable and acceptable reasons for their walk-outs, unlike their ridiculous walkout this morning.
There is threat by Najib’s acolytes to mar the second day of the 14th Parliament tomorrow, which is the official opening of the first session of the 14th Parliament by the Yang di Pertuan Agong, based on fake news and false information in an attempt to revive the toxic but failed politics of race, religion, hate, fear and lies spearded by UMNO/BN in the 14th General Elections.
Malaysians will judge whether these actions by Najib’s acolytes are designed to promote national unity or calculcated to incite imaginary fears to poison racial and racial relations which can only result tin greater racial and religious polarisation and national division.

Déjà vu – Walk-out by PAS MPs leading BN MPs in the very first business of 14th Parliament

Its déjà vu – the walkout by PAS MPs leading Barisan Nasional MPs during the first business of the 14th Parliament on the election of the Parliament Speaker.
Three matters are worth noting about this walkout, viz:
1. The Opposition walkout was led by PAS, with UMNO, MCA and MIC MPs meekly following suit;
2. Two UMNO MPs refuse to join in the walkout, Khairry Jamaluddin and Anifah Aman.
3. The sole MCA MP and two MIC MP tamely following the PAS-led first walkout of the 14th Parliament.
But the most significant matter is the seating arrangement for the Barisan Nasional MPs – the second placing for the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak which means that although Najib has resigned as UMNO and BN President for the disastrous electoral results of the 14GE, where BN was booted out of power and UMNO lost its role as the political party with majority support of Malay voters, Najib is still the most powerful force in UMNO/BN although without title or position. The statement issued by Datuk Seri Najib Razak addressed to the Minister for Human Resources, M. Kulasegaran not to blame him if Pakatan Harapan can’t decide on the Parliament Speaker is the best tell-tale sign that the former Prime Minister is up to no good at the opening of Parliament.
I thank those who had mistakenly congratulated me as the new Speaker of Parliament – as I will be a backbencher and not Speaker.
But there is no problem with the Pakatan Harapan deciding on the Parliament Speaker, as the primary challenge of the 14th Parliament is to take the steps to become a world-class Parliament, recognised by Parliaments in the world for its parliamentary reform and innovation, and not an infamous Parliament of a global kleptocracy. Anthony Loke is the DAP Parliamentary Leader in 14th Parliament

Let me start by correcting the introduction just now. I was the DAP parliamentary leader when the DAP was in opposition in the 13th Parliament, but not the DAP Parliamentary Leader in the 14th Parliament.
By convention, the Prime Minister is the Leader of the House of Parliament, and in a governing coalition, the respective party parliamentary leaders will come from the senior party leaders.
The DAP Central Executive Committee has decided that the DAP Parliamentary Leader in the 14th Parliament will be the DAP National Organising Secretary Anthony Loke.

Malaysia is now in the “eye” of the world to demonstrate how a global kleptocracy can be transformed into a leading nation of integrity.
In the past few years, the opinion leaders and makers of the world must have shaken their heads in sorrow as to how Malaysia – a nation with so much promise, and in the words of Bapa Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman, should become “a beacon of light in a distracted and disturbed world” – had failed the Malaysian Dream and taken the wrong turn in nation-building to become a global kleptocracy, where Malaysians in the Malaysian Diaspora worldwide are ashamed to acknowledge that they are Malaysians and the then Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was spoken in the same league as notorious kleptocrats in the world – like Suharto of Indonesia and Marcos of Philippines.
It is to the eternal shame of Malaysia that a Wikipaedia search will find Najib Razak named as the latest new entry of a “kleptocrat”!
Is this why Merdeka was achieved in 1957 and Malaysia was formed in 1963?
In the historic watershed 14th General Election on 9th May, 2018 where Malaysian surprised the world with the first peaceful and democratic transition at a time when democracy throughout the world is suffering a decline, Malaysians have two world historic roles to perform.
Firstly, give confidence to the struggling peoples of the world not to give up hope in the battle for democracy; secondly, to show the world how a global kleptocracy can transform itself into a leading nation in integrity in the world.
Members of Parliament elected on 9th May 2018 have received notification from Parliament that the first meeting of Parliament will be for 20 sittings from 16th July to August 16; that the 30-day 2019 Budget meeting of Parliament will be from Oct.15 to Dec. 11, 2018 with the Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng, presenting the 2019 Budget in Parliament on Friday, 2nd November 2018.
Before the budget debate, nine days have been set aside for debate on the Mid-Term Review of the 11th Malaysia Plan.
All MPs regardless of political party should show their commitment when Parliament meets from July 16 to transform Malaysia from a global kleptocracy into a leading nation of integrity in the world.
Will all the MPs from UMNO/BN and PAS support a motion so that all the 222 MPs in Parliament can act in unity and unanimity giving support to the Pakatan Harapan Government’s agenda to transform Malaysia from a global kleptocracy into a leading nation of integrity in the world?
Will all those contesting for posts in the UMNO General Assembly this month, whether for President, Deputy President, Vice President; Youth, Wanita or Puteri leader; or for UMNO Supreme Council or executive council positions in the various UMNO wings, make a public commitment to support Pakatan Harapan Government’s national programme to transform Malaysia from a global kleptocracy into a leading nation of integrity in the world?

The 13th Parliament has been dissolved and the country is all set for the 14th General Election.
The country has been long awaiting for this dissolution, from the Sarawak state general elections in 2016, to 2017 and then to 2018; from January this year to February, March and then April; from 11.30 am yesterday for the live telecast of the announcement of dissolution of Parliament by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak to 11.40 a.m; 11.50 am and finally after noon!

Today is last sitting of the 13th Parliament which was elected on 5th May 2013, as Parliament is expected to be dissolved tomorrow to pave the way for the 14th General Election although there is speculation that the dissolution of Parliament will only take place next Wednesday.
Since last Wednesday, I have attended Parliament daily, but for the last six parliamentary sittings, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker could not see me, and I could not participate in the parliamentary debates nor my votes counted in parliamentary voting.
After being elected to Parliament for 10 terms spanning 45 years from 1969 to 2018 except for the 10th Parliament, I have become a parliamentary “ghost” since last Wednesday, when I was suspended for six months for the second time during the present Parliament for asking the very legitimate question as to where the Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, derived powers to impose an embargo on the Election Commission’s Constituency Redelineation Report after it was tabled in the House on 22nd March 2018 – denying MPs the right to consult constituents and the Malaysian people on the Election Commission’s Report and to get public feedbacks before parliamentary debate on the Report. I have the honour to announce that the DAP and Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Rasah parliamentary seat in the 14th General Election will be the DAP Negri Sembilan State Secretary Cha Kee Chin and the candidate for the Negri Sembilan State Assembly seat for Seremban Jaya (formerly Senawang) will the incumbent State Assemblyman P. Gunasekaran.
The 14th General Election is a matter of days away, and everybody is expecting Parliament to be dissolved next week, either before or after the last parliamentary sitting on Thursday on April 5.
I fully endorse the announcement by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, whom the Pakatan Harapan has designated as the eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia, that two of the earliest decisions of the new Pakatan Harapan Malaysian Government after winning the 14th General Election and forming the new Malaysian Government with Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad as Prime Minister and Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as Deputy Prime Minister will be making the Election Commission a truly independent body and repealing the Anti-Fake News law even if it is passed in Parliament next week.
The Constituency Redelineation Report of the Election Commission, which came into effect in less than 24 hours after it was bulldozed through Parliament on Wednesday (when I became a parliamentary “ghost” after being suspended for six months from Parliament for asking from where the Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, had the powers to embargo the Election Commission Report for public discussion and feedback after the Report was tabled in Parliament the previous week).
It was a monstrous work of constituency gerrymandering, going against the two fundamental principles of the Malaysian Constitution providing for an independent and non-partisan Election Commission and ensuring free and fair elections, which will give Malaysia a new international epithet apart from being a global kleptocracy – a democracy which has become a rogue state! DAP will be fielding DAP State Assemblywoman for Johor Jaya, Liow Cai Tung, to defend the Johor Jaya state assembly seat in the 14th General Election.
The Election Commission’s Constituency Redelineation Report is the worst case of gerrymandering in the six-decades of Malaysian electoral history.

The honourable members heard him say,

The Speaker said he cannot see,
The ghost whose voice we hear,
A minister taunted haughtily,
“The voice is all too familiar!”
‘Twas a voice which reverberated,
In many a noble assemblage,
Through centuries past it whispered,
In courts, and senates, and our little hearts.
And yet from his high chair, the Ref,
Cast a spell to turn a blind eye,
He made Parliament blind and deaf,
To our conscience ghostly cry.
Thus Parliament chose to sneer,
Conscience’s piercing call,
It may ignore the small voice here,
But lo, the Voice beyond the Hall.

The Incident
On 28 March 2018, the Member of Parliament for Gelang Patah, Lim Kit Siang stood up to question why the Election Commission’s redelineation report was embargoed for six days after it was distributed to MPs, an unprecedented practice in the Malaysian parliament.
The Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Pandikar Amin Mulia not only refused to entertain Lim’s question, but when Lim pressed on, Pandikar ruled to evict him from the House. Lim refused to back down and Pandikar called on the government to move a motion naming Lim to suspend him from Parliament for six months.
Minister Azalina Othman moved the motion. No debate nor vote was called on the motion. Pandikar then adjourned the House but before that he threatened to call in the police if Lim is still in the House after the adjournment.
When Lim appeared in his seat after the short adjournment, Pandikar did not take any further action. However, when a division was taken later on the redelineation motion, Lim’s vote was not counted even though he was present and voted against the motion.
The next day, Pandikar ruled that Lim was now invisible stranger, who could not be seen nor heard by the Speaker.
When Lim tried to speak, Minister Noh Omar sneered at Lim for being a ghost who could not be seen but whose familiar voice was trying to say something nevertheless.
Lim Kit Siang is the fourth Member of Parliament to be evicted from the House this week, following the suspension of Ngeh Koo Ham (DAP-Beruas), Nga Kor Ming (DAP-Taiping) and V Sivakumar (DAP-Batu Gajah) on 26 March 2018 for questioning the Speaker’s decision to reject a motion on issue relating to 1MDB.

Will the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, heed the patriotic voice of reason of his brother, Nazir Razak, for the Anti-Fake News Bill to be deferred?
All right-thinking Malaysians are one with Nazir in abhorring fake news, especially those based of lies and falsehoods maliciously aimed at inciting hatred or ill-will, but the Anti-Fake News Bill is not the answer to the problem of combating such fake news.
I have myself been a victim of fake news and false information for decades, demonizing me as anti-Malay, anti-Islam; cause of May 13 riots in Kuala Lumpur in 1969 when I was never in Kuala Lumpur during the relevant period; a communist; agent of foreign powers having been accused of being agent of CIA, M16, KGB and Australian Intelligence; that I have received RM1 billion from Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to allow the entry of PPBM into Pakatan Harapan, received RM100 million from Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok, financed a news portal with RM40 million donation, received more than a billion ringgit from Israeli sources, and other monstrous and evil lies. The 13th Parliament is treated with utter contempt in this last parliamentary meeting and the world is watching how a Parliament in a global kleptocracy is reduced into a farce and charade.
Yesterday, the constituency redelineation report of the Election Commission was rammed through Parliament, without giving MPs any time or opportunity whatsoever to get public feedback or seek public consultation on the Election Commission’s new constituency redelineation proposals, which made a mockery of the constitutional principles of one man, one vote, one value and an independent Election Commission which commands the confidence of Malaysians – just to maintain Malaysia as a global kleptocracy.
Today, Parliament is asked to pass the Anti-Fake News Bill which is nothing but a Save Najib from 1MDB Scandal Bill, which will criminalise all news about the 1MDB scandal in Malaysia which is available worldwide and punishable as fake news with excessive penalties of RM500,000 fine, 10 years jail or both.

DAP has appointed a panel of four MP-lawyers headed by Ramkarpal Singh (Bukit Glugor) and comprising Teo Nie Ching (Kulai), Lim Lip Eng (Segambut) and Thomas Su (Ipoh Timor) to defend political analyst Wong Chin Huat for breaking the embargo on the Election Commission’s Constituency Redelineation Report.
Chin Huat broke the embargo at a public forum on “How Malaysia’s Elections Are Being Stolen” in Kuala Lumpur today and released the Election Commission’s report in full on NGO ENGAGE’s website.
Chin Huat said he was compelled to break the embargo as the contents of the report would have “disastrous” implication and he was breaking the law for the sake of the country.
I commend Chin Huat for his patriotic action, which reminded me of Gandhi’s Salt Protest and Salt march in March 1930, which started with Gandhi’s act of non-violent civil disobedience against British colonial rule to produce salt from the seawater in the coastal village of Dandi (now Gujarat).
I agree with Chin Huat that there is no acceptable reason for the imposition of an embargo once the Election Commission’s Report had been tabled in Parliament last Thursday. Read the rest of this entry »

There are speculation galore about when is the much anticipated 14th General Election – expected to be held within the next 50 days.
Will it be held after the Election Commission’s most controversial 2018 Constituency Redelineation Proposals, which is still officially “embargoed” from public discourse because of the shocking “embargo” ruling of the Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, is passed by the Barisan Nasional simple majority in the Dewan Rakyat next Wednesday?

The question uppermost in minds of many today is whether the Election Commission’s Final Report on the 2018 Constituency Redelineation the most dishonest, dishonorable and disgraceful as compared to previous four Election Commission Constituency Redelineattion Proposals Report in the past four decades that the Speaker has to impose a ridiculous embargo!

Speaker Pandikar should correct his grave error and misjudgment in embargoing the final Election Commission Report on constituency redelineation from the public as it is a public document when tabled in Parliament for MPs to get public feedback

I went to Parliament yesterday before noon and left the Dewan Rakyat Chambers for the Dewan Rakyat media centre for a noon media conference.
Half way from the Chambers to the media centre on the ground floor, a parliamentary attendant ran after me saying that I was not allowed to remove the Election Comission’s Final Report on Constituency Redelineation from the Chambers.
I ignored the parliamentary attendant because it was unprecedented and never happened in the history of parliamentary democracy since Merdeka in 1957 that a Member of Parliament is not allowed to take away a report or document officially tabled in Parliament.
Furthermore, there is nothing in the Dewan Rakyat Standing Orders to allow for such a ludicrous ruling to be made.
It was after the media conference in Parliament that l learnt of the episode in the Dewan, reducing Parliament almost to a circus, on whether MPs could touch, open and read the Election Commission’s final report on constituency redelineation proposals. Read the rest of this entry »
