Three days have passed and the top UMNO leadership led by Acting UMNO President Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi and Acting UMNO Deputy President Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein have yet to confirm or deny that UMNO is officially laying claim to the assets seized by the police from the Pavilion Residences i.e. 72 bags out of which 35 bags contained RM114 million cash in 26 different currencies and 35 bags of jewellery and watches as well as 284 boxes of designer handbags.
Three days ago, there was a mysterious statement professing to be by UMNO’s Strategic Communications Unit wanting the police to return money that was seized as it was UMNO party funds.
It said UMNO badly needs the fund to rebuild itself after the 14th General Election and that UMNO is seeking to recover these funds, requesting the police to release and return them to the party after investigations are completed.
It said it was unfortunate that the funds were seized by police while being transferred to Umno’s acting leadership after Datuk Seri Najib Razak had resigned. Read the rest of this entry »
Why none of the leaders of MCA, Gerakan, MIC or the other BN component parties dare to claim that the seized RM114 million are BN assets and not just UMNO assets?

One question which Malaysians are asking all over the country is why none of the leaders of MCA, Gerakan, MIC or the other Barisan Nasional component parties dare to claim that the RM114 million in 26 currencies seized by the Police from the Pavilion Residences are Barisan Nasional assets and not just UMNO assets?
This question reflects the nature for the so-called Barisan Nasional coalition, where one party is the hegemon and the other 12 component parties are mere minnows.
But other questions about the UMNO claim for the return of RM114 million in 26 currencies seized by the Police on the ground that they were being transferred to the new UMNO leadership following Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s resignation as UMNO President cry for answer from the new UMNO leadership, viz:
1. Why is the new UMNO leadership headed by Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein keeping strangely silent on this issue – is the UMNO claim made on behalf of the UMNO Supreme Council or a by a proxy on behalf of Najib?
2. If the claim is made by UMNO, does UMNO know how much of the RM114 million in 26 currency belonged to UMNO?
3. If this claim is not made with the sanction or authority of the new UMNO leadership, will the UMNO leadership repudiate such a claim – or it dare not say whether the claim is made with or without its authority and approval?
4. Will the new UMNO leadership demonstrate that it is now committed to the principles of integrity, transparnecy and accountability, and ask the police to investigate the source of the RM114 million in 26 currencies seized from the Pavilion Residences, whether they were legitimate or not, and whether any money was given in return for certain projects awarded to them?
UMNO has still to clarify whether its claim is limited to the RM114 million in 26 currencies from 35 bags seized by the police, or whether it extended to the 35 bags with jewellery and watches and the 284 boxes of designer handbags.
Be that as it may, these ill-gotten gains will be an acid test whether UMNO can break from its kleptocratic past and start anew as a clean and honest political party dedicated to the principles of integrity, transparency and accountability or whether there is way that UMNO can reform itself.

UMNO is seeking the return of funds which the police have seized, on the ground that they were being transferred to the new UMNO leadership following Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak’s resignation as UMNO President.
This is most intriguing, Does UMNO know how much it is claiming from the items seized by the police from the Pavilion Residences linked to Najib as belonging to UMNO, and if it is unable provide a list to enumerate the details on the total amount claimed, how can UMNO lay any claim to the funds seized by the police?
What about the 35 bags with jewellery and watches – is UMNO laying a claim to them on the ground that they belonged to UMNO?

I am shocked to discover during my walkabout with the DAP candidate for Johor State Assembly seat, Tan Hong Pin that MCA propagandists are spreading the version that there is nothing wrong with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s RM2.6 billion donation in his personal banking accounts and the 1MDB scandal, especially as Najib had given back the RM2.6 billion to the people of Malaysia.
This is a monstrous multiple lie and falsehood, which is worse than the lie recently by the Barisan Nasional Strategic Communications Unit when responding to the FaceBook posting by former Cabinet Minister, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, asking the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) to clarify if it had known about caretaker prime minister Najib Razak’s infamous RM2.6 billion donation, and how the department had dealt with it at the time.
The Barisan Nasional strategic communications team, which is headed by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datu Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan, said that that Najib had returned most, if not all, of the RM2.6 billion donation he received in 2013.
This is a double lie, for Najib had not returned most, and definitely not all, of the RM2.6 billion Donation to Saudi royalty he received in 2013. Read the rest of this entry »

There is great rumbling in the deep bowels of UMNO and Malay society that things are not right with Malaysia, especially with regard to the great shame that the international multi-billion dollar 1MDB money-laundering scandal has brought to Malaysia by giving the nation a virtual instant epithet of a global kleptocracy.
These rumblings first surfaced publicly early this month after the seizure of 1MDB mastermind Jho Low’s billion-ringgit luxury superyacht Equanimity by the Indonesian authorities and FBI in Bali at the end last month.
Former International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz broke the ice when publicly lamented in her FaceBook about the Malaysian government becoming the modern-day Malaysian “Emperor with New Clothes”, asking why the Malaysian authorities had not been able to find 1MDB mastermind Jho Low’s billion-ringgit luxury superyacht when she herself could spot it while on a diving trip in Thailand.
This was followed by the tweet of the former Information Minister, Tan Sri Rais Yatim asking why the Minister for Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak was so hasty in defending Jho Low instead of defending justice with regard to the seizure of the luxury superyacht Equanimity. Recently, we have the Minister for Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Salleh Said Keruak who said that there is no evidence the billion-ringgit luxury superyacht Equanimity seized by the Indonesian authorities in Bali recently is owned by Jho Low and the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Fuzi Harun who made an even more startling statement that there is “nothing to link Jho Low with IMDB”. Will the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak back out of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Sydney this weekend as he is again dogged by the 3Is – infamy, ignominy and iniquity – of the international multi-billion dollar 1MDB money-laundering scandal and Malaysia as a global kleptocracy?
Although the Swiss Parliament yesterday rejected the motion seeking the repatriation of the Swiss government’s seizure of some RM430 million of 1MDB-embezzled funds from Swiss banks to the people of Malaysia, Najib and the Malaysian Government have not come out of the Swiss Parliamentary motion and scrutiny smelling like roses.

Is Malaysia destined for “greatness” under the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, to be regarded worldwide as a global double kleptocracy?
Yesterday, the DAP MP for Taiping, Nga Kor Ming, offered Najib free legal services to sue international news weekly, the Economist, for its 8th March, 2018 article: “Stop, thief! Malaysia’s PM is about to steal an election”.
I fully endorse this offer of free legal services from DAP, and Najib can choose anyone of the following nine DAP lawyer-MPs to defend his reputation and that of the nation – Gobind Singh Deo (Puchong), Nga Kor Ming (Taiping), Ngeh Koo Ham (Beruas), M. Kulasegaran (Ipoh Barat), Lim Lip Eng (Segambut), Thomas Su (Ipoh Timur), Teo Nie Ching (Kulai), Ramkarpal Singh (Bukit Gelugor), Chong Chieng Jen (Bandar Kuching).
But it is almost a full week, and there has been thunderous silence from Najib, with no response whatsoever from Najib on the Economist’s article calling him a thief who is to steal the 14th General Election – or the MSNBC television host Rachel Maddow who called Najib a thief in the Rachel Maddow Show programme on March 9 because of the international multi-billion 1MDB money-laundering scandal.

The Minister for Tourism and Culture, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz is the latest addition to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s growing band of 1MDB court jesters.
Nazri made quite a fantastic statement in his exclusive interview with Malaysiakini, declaring that it is not difficult to defend his “boss”, as Najib is innocent of all the allegations against him with regard to the 1MDB scandal.
I get the impression that Nazri is the only Minister who feels that it is easy to defend the Prime Minister over the 1MDB scandal on the ground the Najib is innocent of all the allegations against him.
We have had a Minister, one who had been named Cabinet spokesman for 1MDB in 2015, who fell ill because of the mental agony he had to go through to defend the 1MDB scandal. Read the rest of this entry »

Yesterday, the world learn about the banker son of Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Alex, becoming one of scores of international victims of 1MDB scandal.
But even more important than the international victims of the 1MDB scandal, which are not confined to individuals but also banks and financial companies – are the 30 million Malaysians who are directly the victims of the 1MDB scandal.
What is being done to give justice to the 30 million Malaysians?
Alex was sidelined from his executive position at Goldman Sachs after acting as a whistle-blower on allegedly shady deals involving billions between the global investment bank and the Malaysian state investor, 1MDB.
In 2012 and 2013, while Alex was working at Goldman Sachs in Singapore, the bank raised US$6 billion (RM24 billion) in bonds for 1MDB, in deals organised by senior banker Tim Leissner.

The first working sitting of the sixth meeting of the 13th Parliament has confirmed that the Malaysian Parliament has become a Parliament of a global kleptocracy as Parliament is not prepared to do anything to challenge, purge and cleanse Malaysia of the ignominy, infamy and iniquity of a global kleptocracy for over three years.
Coming at a time when the 1MDB scandal had been delivering bad news by the lorrylooads to Malaysia’s repute and standing, the failure of the Malaysian Parliament to protect the reputation of Malaysia and rebut without equivocation the epithet of Malaysia as a global kleptocracy will go down in history as the most shameful episode of Malaysian Parliament since Merdeka in 1957. The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, should end his “smoke and mirrors” game in the past few years, undermining the doctrine of separation of powers of the Executive, Parliament and the Judiciary, and announce in the King’s government policy speech at the official opening of Parliament tomorrow the formation of a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the 1MDB scandal which had given Malaysia the ignominy, infamy and iniquity of a global kleptoracy.
And to demonstrate to Malaysians and the world that the Malaysian Prime Minister has nothing to hide, that he is aboveboard and beyond reproach in the morass of 1MDB international money-laundering scandal, which had been described by the US Attorney-General as the world’s “worst kleptocracy”, and that he is open to investiglation by anyone, let him announce that the RCI into the 1MDB scandal would be headed by his new nemesis Tun Mahathir, and comprising Commissioners half of which would be nominated by Pakatan Harapan. The international multi-billion dollar 1MDB money-laundering scandal has literally been “raining cats and dogs” worldwide for the Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the Malaysian government since the seizure of the Bombadier jet in Singapore early February culminating in the seizure of Equanimity luxury super-yacht in Indonesia and in a CNBC special programme on “What happened to Malaysia’s 1MDB money” in the United States on March 1.
Najib must be very disappointed that he could not dictate international developments and world media coverage of the 1MDB scandal that he seemed able to do within the four corners of Malaysia, like the blacking out of news about the seizure of the billion-ringgit luxury superyacht in Bali by the Indonesian authorities. I call on all MPs, whether Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Harapan, should take an united common stand in the policy debate in the Motion of Thanks for the Yang di Pertuan Agong for this policy address to demand that the Malaysian Government should lay a strong claim on behalf of the Malaysian people to the RM400 million 1MDB-related funds in Swiss banks as well as the billion-ringgit Equanimity luxury yacht seized by the Indonesian authorities yesterday, the RM120 million Bombadier jet seized by the Singapore authorities in early February and the RM120 million pink diamond necklace as they were all purchased from 1MDB-linked funds.
We are living in the era of fake news, alternative facts and post-truths where the Malaysian Government under the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak is doing its utmost to convince Malaysians that the 1MDB scandal, openly described by the US Attorney-General Jeff Sessions as the world’s worst kleptocracy, does not exist and is nothing but “fake news”.
This is the reason for the Malaysian government’s inaction over the RM400 million in 1MDB-related funds seized by the Swiss government, with the Swiss press reporting that the Swiss government is looking to pocket CHF95 million (RM400 million) from 1MDB-linked funds from several banks in Switzerland.
This is also the reason for the extraordinary reaction of the Attorney-General, Tan Sri Mohamad Apandi Ali, who said that the government would not claim 1MDB mastermind Jho Low’s luxury yacht that was seized by Indonesian authorities in a joint effort with US Federal Bureau of Investigation yesterday. The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, has done himself a great disservice and dishonor in canvassing a ludicrous and half-baked political theory about two scenarios if Pakatan Harapan wins in 14GE when in the last 48 hours, he had been strenuously avoiding the one subject all Malaysians were waiting to hear from him.
I describe Najib’s “two scenarios if Pakatan Harapan wins” as ludicrous and half-baked because both these scenarios will not eventuate.

What balderdash!
This is the only proper reaction to the ridiculous claim by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Pau Low, that the string of high-profile arrests over the past year is the likely cause for Malaysia’s drop in rankings on Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI).
This is totally contradictory to the assessment by the Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) President, Datuk Akhbar Satar that Malaysia’s TI CPI ranking would have gone lower below No. 62 out of 180 countries “if not because of the MACC aggressiveness in conducting investigation and making arrests to deter corruption in the country”.
The Chief Commissioner of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad came out from “hiding” to say he was “shocked” by the results because it did not reflect MACC’s aggressive approach towards combatting graft.

Malaysians wake up today in shame for in the world release of Transparency International (TI) annual scorecard of Corruption Perception Index (CPI) in the early hours this morning, Malaysia has reached the lowest ranking in 23 years – No. 62 out of 180 countries.
The history of the 23-year annual Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perception Index (CPI) from 1995-2017 shows that Malaysia had stagnated and even regressed in integrity and principles of accountability and good governance in the past two decades as compared to some countries, like China and Indonesia, which had made significant improvements with steady strides.
In the first year of TI CPI in 1995, which listed only 41 countries, Malaysia was ranked in the middling position of No. 23 with a score above the midpoint – i.e. 5.28 in a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 10 (very clean).

Najib and the UMNO/Barisan Nasional coalition are the worst culprits in concocting and peddling fake news and false information, but the UMNO/BN strategists and propagandists want to weaponise the fake news issues with new legislation and mechanism purportedly to combat fake news, but whose real purpose is to harass and persecute Pakatan Harapan leaders and supporters over fake news allegations while giving the UMNO/BN leaders and supporters immunity and impunity for the fake news they concoct and disseminate against Pakatan Harapan. Tomorrow Transparency International (TI) will release its Corruption Perception Index (CPI) 2017, an event all Malaysians dread for Malaysia had been sliding down both in ranking and score in the last two decades since TI’s introduction of the annual CPI in 1995.
There are no signs in the past year that there is the political will to fight corruption, particularly grand corruption, in Malaysia, as represented by the continued government clamp-down of reports and denial of the international multi-billion dollar 1MDB money-laundering scandal, which has given Malaysia the infamy and ignominy of a global kleptocracy.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad has recently disappeared from public view, which is an indication of the parlous state of anti-corruption battle in Malaysia.
Equally conspicuous is the inability of the MACC to explain why Malaysia has become a global kleptocracy and what the MACC is doing to cleanse or purge Malaysia of this international infamy and ignomy. Read the rest of this entry »
