DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has asked whether Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Maximus Ongkili raised the issue of the 1MDB scandal during his tenure as a cabinet minister.

Ongkili was the energy, green technology and water minister from 2013 to 2018.

“Maximus Ongkili was a minister while 1MDB was happening.

“Did he ever raise this issue in the cabinet?” Lim asked in a ceramah at Kampung Sim Sim, Sandakan last night.

He was speaking on the campaign trail for the Sandakan by-election, for which DAP is fielding Vivian Wong.

In his speech, Lim brought up the 1MDB issue as well as investment company Goldman Sachs’ involvement in the scandal.

The Iskandar Puteri MP also asked whether the audience believed former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak’s claim that he was a victim in the 1MDB scandal.

“Can you believe or not that the prime minister was a victim, that he didn’t know what was happening?” he asked the crowd of about 100 people.

Aside from the 1MDB issue, Lim also praised Vivian’s capabilities.

He pointed out that if the 30-year-old were to win this by-election, she would be the youngest female parliamentarian in Malaysian history.

He noted that Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin, who is also the Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister, is 35 years old.

Vivian is the youngest daughter of incumbent Sandakan MP Stephen Wong, who passed away on March 28.

She will be facing a five-cornered fight for the seat against PBS’ candidate Linda Tsen and three other independents.

Polling day is set to be held on May 11.

Do Sabahan care if Ongkili did not? Lets admit it, all BN leaders were tainted including current Warisan leaders which DAP are partners with..

Pakatan has got to learned that poor voters are not great citizentry. They vote for very simplistic things and ideas..
