I succumbed to acute low-back pain this morning. After about an hour of reading, I felt an acute ache at the small of my back. Feeling that something was amiss, I gave a few minutes for the ache to go away. When it didn’t. I tried to stand up but I could not.
I knew I was in trouble. Imagine – to be immobilized just before the “mother” of all general elections! In my mind, I was wondering whether two DAP leaders will have to go to the hustings in wheel-chairs!
I was bedridden and had to miss the annual family lunch on New Year’s Day at the Penang Swimming Club where Dr. Lim Guan Choon and Dr. Khoo Siew Swan are members.
The whole Lim family was there except me – my wife Neo Yok Tee, children Guan Eng and wife Betty Chew, Hui Ming, Hui Ying and Guan Choon with wife Siew Swan.
The third Lim generation are Guan Eng’s four children, Rachel Lim Shay Wan 17, Clint Lim Whay Chau 16 , Marcus Lim Whay Khai 13 and Ethan Lim Whay Zen 14 months; and Guan Choon’s three kids, Charlotte Lim Shay Ryu 11, Matthew Lim Wei Shen 9 and Serena Lim Shay Ann 8.
Guan Choon was worried whether there is something more serious with my acute low-back pain and arranged for a MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) to be done. Appears to be just acute back sprain although very painful and reduces me into an invalid.
I had wanted to go to Sitiawan tomorrow for the Chinese New Year Open House of DAP Perak State Chairman and Perak State Assembly Opposition Leader, Ngeh Koo Ham (Sitiawan Assemblyman) but my acute back pain has put paid to my plan to be in Manjong.
Sunday is the Penang DAP Chinese New Year Open House and Monday the launching of the Canning elections operations centre in Ipoh Timur.
I hope I could make it to both functions, particularly the Sunday date as there is a special programme for the Penang DAP CNY Open House, which will not only be attended by Anwar Ibrahim, but will feature a most memorable occasion – especially for Makkal Sakti not only among the Indians but all Malaysian marginalized groups in the country, whether the Kadazan-Dusun-Murut (KDM) community in Sabah, the indigenous people in Sarawak, the Orang Asli in Peninsular Malaysia and all poor Malays and Chinese in the country.
Keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t have to turn up at the Penang DAP CNY Open House in a wheel-chair.

If you could sit up. put your hands each on each knee and straighten your back, trying to feel your muscles squeezing, let go, -repeat until you have enough as often as you could. your back muscles will get stronger as day go by..you will start to feel you actually have a back.. of course you could have some variant but keep in mind to squeeze the muscles. Don’t worry in the beginning you might not have no control over the muscles at the back. keep trying you will find your back. when they get stronger your back will snatch back in place…good luck YB—————-

#10 by gofortruth on Friday, 8 February 2008 - 8:54 pm
Take care uncle Lim!
From personal numerous experiences, once injured, the lower back muscle can get injured/ inflammed again easily. The pain is caused by inflammed muscles in the lower back area.
What you need now is some good muslce relaxons, better still an injection to combat the inflammation, don’t exert that muscle by lying down for a day or 2 and you will be alright. Besides, you’ll need that much overdue rest too before the coming big battle. Sitting position is not good actually for injured lower back muscle.
May God heals you & strengthens you & bless you & your family & the country we love so dearly.
Get well soon uncle!

Dear Uncle Kit,
Get a MRI done. Exactly a year ago I had my lower back pain and it turned out to be a prolapsed dics (worst case of slip dics) in my lower back. Surgery was required. My symptoms was dull numbing pain radiating down the back of my right leg. No exact pain in my back only at certain angles. I couldn’t sit without holding back my pain. Take care.

YB Kit,
Please be careful. You must never be on a wheelchair and if your MRI does not detect anything it is most likely you have punished yourself far too much physically in going up and down the country trying to give us a better Malaysia after this GE.Take a few days of complete rest.If you have to skip attending the New Year Open House in Penang and the launching of Canning election operation centre. This may do the trick and put you back on your feet.May the force be with you and before I go A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND FAMILY.

“I knew I was in trouble. Imagine – to be immobilized just before the “mother†of all general elections! In my mind, I was wondering whether two DAP leaders will have to go to the hustings in wheel-chairs!”
Well, let’s hope you’re OK now. Nature has a way of reminding us of our mortality and most times it comes when you least expect it.
But the sight of you casting your vote in a wheel chair will be a sight that could move voters! The sight of a true Malaysian patriot in a wheel chair fulfilling his constitutional duty to the country he loves so much, no doubt will be a source of inspiration to others who are likely to come in droves to discharge their duties.
Some of them may vote for the DAP and some may not. But it does not matter for the message would remain a bipartisan one i.e. a message to all Malaysians that we must exercise our constitutional right to vote for what we believe in. All right thinking Malaysians believe in a just and equal society where Malaysians can work together in harmony and in peace to achieve the dreams that our fathers once had and we have, dreams that our children and their children could be proud of.

I have severe lower back pain too from time to time. What I do for a relief is to lie in the long bath in hot water with bath salts. Make sure someone is around though.
I also use hot (NOT chilli hot) medicated plasters. Also a good lower back massage with ointment also helps.
Could have been caused by bad sitting or lying position which somehow hits some nerves or something. Maybe the muscles got all tangled up there and you need to untangle them – slowly.
I am sure Anwar can suggest a good Malay masseur for you.
Hope the new Rat didn’t bite you.

Dear Sir,
Focus your attention and your concentration at the exact spot where the pain emanates for about 15 to 20 minutes.
Tell yourself that the acute low-back pain is slowly reducing and that you will be completely cured in a day or two. Repeat this process whenever you the find time; you can focus your concentration at the spot whenever your mind is at rest. Be seated in a quiet place and be away from everybody during the self-healing sessions. Try this and you may be up in a day or two.

Be at a quiet place, and open your mouth to ask the Creator of ths Universe to heal you. Human is created by this Creator while human mind is limited even we could not create a perfect clock.
You have nothing to lose to ask this Creator to heal you. He will show you the miracle healing and let you feel his miracle power. Because you are righteous, honest and you have done much for the weak groups in this country, God will prolong and perserve you.
For nothing is impossible for the mighty God.

LKS, just my humble opinion, the days of town-to-town ceramah & back-breaking nation-wide tour to rally the rakyat’s support is really not the total solution to spread the message of DAP election manifesto. I can see, it’s affecting your health too. The young voters we have the internet to reach them , for the middle class & working class who uses Handphone, campaign using MMS will be very helpful but equally important the poor, disadvantaged majority & the old, visual & voice message directly to them into their home is needed, so I suggest campaign using VCD/DVD, is extremely crucial, might cost abit, but end result will be very effective I believe. I give you an example, my old-man & many in his generation is so convince that the reason why M’sia is peaceful
is because BN is in power if they lose there might be chaos, so I cannot convince him as much as I tried to reason that when a petty thief steals RM$1 is a crime, but when a minister steals RM$millions of our tax-payers hard-earned money its comission, not-a-crime(put very nicely by Sdr Anwar) what I need is a DVD , so hopefully with visually & enhanced narrative I can make him & so many like him realize the ‘catastrophe’ M’sia is heading. It’s simple economics, population up, ‘no-quality’ foreigners up, economy stagnant, western foreign investor near-zero, Arab foreign investor also going to S’pore. The only reason why M’sia is still standing is ‘still got oil & gas’, cut that , ‘catastrophe’ it will be, are we actually going to wait for it to happen before acting?
#30 by Not spoon fed on Saturday, 9 February 2008 - 12:12 am
There are scientific proof of creation for this world. I could review more if anyone likes to see these proof.
This is just to show you that if you now get closer to this Creator, you will be blessed and healed by Him if you ask Him with your mouth.
For the past many years, I am sure you have not got closer and accepted this Creator as your Supplier of everything. If you had accepted and asked this Creator to supply you the resources and to lead you to lead DAP to deny 2 third of BN, you could have got it. If you believe the supernatural power, you should ask for the highest supernatural One, the Creator.
Human is not evolved from monkey because more chromosome and less chromosome also problem to human.
Until today, human still could not creat an artificial brain which could think and create things. Computer still could not think. Nothing human could create more superior than human mind.
Human created many things. Who created human brain? Evolution from monkey? Monkey has less chromosome than human, so impossible because a little more of chromosome in human would be Down Symdrome; a person born with a little less of chromosome (become a monkey?) could not survive..
Scientific proof of problem of more or less chromosome in human. Therefore, human is not evolved from monkey!

DAP needs resource to convey message to the mass.
TV? Expensive production and too late now to produce?
Internet? Just a small portion people care to come to this Web site. Even 10,000 people come here. It is still a small portion of voters.
Why not try something supernatural way that you have not tried before? Go and ask the highest One to help to implement political revival in this 2008.

May I take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy and Hopeful Chinese New Year. May the Force be with you. Thank you for your selfless efforts in daring to bring about justice and equality in our country.

#34 by Not spoon fed on Saturday, 9 February 2008 - 12:47 am
Hope it is not a curse from someome…..
If you do not believe in supernatural way, please see this fact –
Because the American government regularly broke its treaties with the various American Indian tribes, the Indians placed a course on the White House. That is why, from 1860 until 1980, every President elected in the 20th year died in office. You can trace that back to 2 things. The American government’s unfaithfulness to the American Indians and the fact that Abraham Lincoln, who was the President elected in 1860, premitted a spiritist seance to be conducted in the White House by this wife. She later died in a mental institute. See how involvement in such activity doesn’t just affect individuals, it can also affect whole nations.
President Reagan would also have died in office – an attempt was made on his wife early in his presidency. However, just before he took the oath as President, a group of pastors in a large meeting, combined in prayer and faith and released not just him but also the presidency from the curse (from Indians).
You see how close the curse came to being fulfilled, the bullet lodged within an inche of his heart. That was God’s vindication of the prayer that released the curse.
This is no abstract theory; such things negatively affect the lives of people and nations everywhere!

Dear Uncle Lim,
You should take a vacation and go for a holiday with you wife. If you worry about the coming election you can take your laptop along to keep in touch with the happenings at home.
Go to places like Fiji, Tongka or Hawaii where you can just relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. A vacation away from home is very helpful in taking away the stress from you busy and demanding schedule. Knowing your passion and concern for the country and DAP you will not be able to relax if you stay at home.

Dear Mr Lim. you are very important to the nation especially at this time because the coalition of oppositions need to join force and show hand to go for broke this election. Anything less than a deprivation of 2/3 majority of BN may jolly well mean game over for Malaysia. Malaysia now is in a very precarious position because the down fall is almost becoming irreversible.
As for your back, please do an MRI of the lower back as soon as you can. This is because condition like sequestrated disc respond very well to early surgery. We cannot afford to have you out of actiion too long. Please let us know the result ofyour MRI if it is not too much to ask.

Assuming that it is a sprain, a traditional massage to relieve the muscle of inflammation should help. However, you need to get it done by a real ‘sinseh’, not the bogus ones. After 2 sessions, the pain should completely disappear.
Maybe you can try this. I did not believe all this hocus pocus until I experienced it myself.
To Mr Lim Kit Siang, I salute your effort and you. Have heard your name since I was 5 and I am reaching 50 soon.

Saudara Lim, you may be young at heart, but your body is aging. It needs the required rest. Here I do not mean mental or administrative rest but the body must rest. The body is directly letting you to take a more “active role in administration and mental guidance” to the party and to let the younger ones to runaround. YB LKS,
If it brings you some confort, I wish to share a similar experience. On the second day of my visit to my daughter in New York, I was similarly stricken. I was completley flatenned, not even able to ‘roll’ my body to either side. I was completely incapacitated. I was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, in Queens NY strapped to a stretcher by Medics. A young (Indian) lady doctor gave me a checking over and assured me that there were no injuries, just muscle strain. She gave me two pills to swallow, but when it did not give any relief she gave me another one and let me lay on the stretcher for about an hour. The pain just vanished after that and I was able to get up and walk back to my daughter’s apartment, about 200 metres away. It happened in November 2007. Todate no problem. I am 66. However I am very careful now. Even lifting up (what we think) something ‘light’ can aggaravate. So you be careful too. We (Malaysians) need you to be “UP AND BE ABOUT”

You’re no better than those you criticize. It is time to stop the nonsense.

Are Count Dracula and Colonel one and the same person?
Both are false patriots, whose anti-social comments are distractions which aggravate YB Lim’s pain.

Earnest, yes you are right, not only dracula and colonel but bodo, blackeye, diaperhead, and darkhorse. Just look at the timing of their postings. It is obvious that they use different handles to give an impression that many are against us. So despicable!
Now they are ganging up against me in my debate with Morgan in “CNY message – mother of all ang pows to nation and future generationâ€. Please read them and provide some input.

EARNIE aka DAFTNE,
We still remember you as that dirty old man who dragged this blog to the gutter where you came from with lurid references to “the woman’s vulva and the regrowth of the clitorisâ€! Remember now?
The mere thought of sharing the same room with an old sex pervert gives me the shivers.

Uncle Kit, you will be alright. You are still very much needed by all right-thinking Malaysians. Get well soon!

YB, take care of yourself.
