Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to Christians and Malaysians.

These are difficult and challenging times with growing religious polarisation from greater religious intolerance and constitutional encroachments of our fundamental rights.

Are we prepared individually and collectively to stand up for the fundamental rights entrenched in our Constitution or are we going to be a party, though a silent and passsive one, to their progressive erosion and our own disenfranchisement.

Let us give serious thought to this grave subject when celebrating Christmas 2007!

Since it is already Christmas here in Melbourne and about an hour and 3/4 more for you guys, let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

May the words of Alfred, Lord Tennyson bring much meaning to all Malaysians

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
    The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.
    .
    .
    .
Ring in the valiant man and free,
    The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

I wonder why the Catholic needed to release the Malay version of newsletter. do they expect any maly to convert from islam to catholic? just do a version for iban is good enough. the catholic should not try to touch on anything potentially hazardous to themselves – not to invite any trouble knowing that people always look for trouble on them

Instead of letting the UMO and the fanatics to remove the crosses from schools, the coming new year 2008 is the year crosses must be returned to their original places.

Instead of building churches on second floor of shoplots, 2008 is the year to rebuild churches on solid ground.

Let’s stop the rot. Let’s remove this most corrupted regime in year 2008!

Let’s terminate UMO totally in year 2008!

Dear Sir(Lim Kit Siang) and Bloggers,
Merry Christmas to you ( even if you’re not a Christian). You’re right, let us be discontented with the Malaysian governments discriminatory ways. To the other races ( including the poor Malays, who does not get their share of the pie), let’s think seriously about educating our children despite the discrimination. And teach them to be independent and teach them never to put their faith into another’s hand ( especially corrupt politicians and politicians who only serve their palate then the people’s palate). Your were detained under ISA in 1969 for 18 months and 2 more years under ISA under Operasi Lalang ( reference from Wikipedia). Your determination, dedication to continue fighting for the well being of others is highly appreciated. May God bless your soul, a soul that reaches out to others in agony. Rest well for the holidays.

    God bless souls like you.

Merry Christams to you all, believer or non-believer.

I am writing this in this particular blog because no where else seem fit to go…

I would like to tell you something that you would already know……

One night last week I went to my sister house at 9pm. She just came back from distributing charity food basket for the church in this holiday and her eyes were wet and swollen.

I asked her what’s the matter and this is what she said. This is the first time she actually go out with the church group (of 4 to 5 people) delivery food basket for charity. In the past she volunteered her time preparing the baskets. In the basket were cooking oil, bag of sugar, bag of rice, bag of instant noodles, some spice, canned meat, canned vegetable…

In the past some selected church representative (members) do a survey (with word of mouth or from past record) designated recipient of the charity food basket. They have the names, number of family members, addresses, direction to get there, what special needs the family need (like child clothing, shoes, writing paper..).

A week before Christmas 4 groups of 5 people were given the list of family to deliver the charity basket (for 2 evenings). My sister had gone for the church caroling before but this year she took part in the delivery of charity basket.

They past by a mansion /palace of a royalty half kilometer away, in front of the house were 3 Mercedies. They reached a slump area. They arrived at a “house” where the roof were make of patched up sheet metal from big tin can. There was no floor to speak of, the floor were dirt /soil – no cement. The wall were like salvage plank from dump. In it were one 80 years old frail Chinese couple and their 2 grandchildren. They were dressed in rag (clothing that you do not want to caught dead in). The “house” consist of a “bedroom” and a wood burning kitchen. The bed is raised wooden platform with straw mat. With one glance you can see all the stuff (or hardly anything) in the 4 meter by 3 meter “house”. The “house” were lighted by oil lamp.

They were delighted by the genorisity and have no words to express their appreciation. The church members could see it in the couple eyes that they were thanksful.

Looking at the deporable condition of how this family lived, my sister busted out tears. How can this be happening in Malaysia at this century? Where are the riches of the countries goes to? Who in the proper authority sleeping on the job to help the citizen who build up this country? Are Chinese a third class citizen?
where are the social safety net to help people in these conditions? Where is the government in this matter? Who the non-bumiputra the forgoten one? Where is the justice? Which goverment in the last 50 years have make this condition previal?

Two other women also had their eyes wet and left. That night and the next evening they went to other family in needs and found most of them in similar condition – neglected, poor, mal-nurished, sad.

I am telling you all this story to remind you what this UMNOPUTRA had a hand in the last 30 years had contributed to the society, how it molded one race and totally neglected others.

If we the non-bumiputra do not help our own, then do not expect them to help the non-muslim.

On this Holy Day, give thanks to what you have and do something to change the world tomorrow (change this government for a start).

    Merry Christmas.

Sorry, wrong thread but a news that needs to be told. The 6.00 am Tamil news emphasized that the youth leaders of Samy, Kavias and Pandithan have joined to form a team to look into the voes of Indians. Good to hear that.

Now always after the news, there is a daily Muslim program. Well throughout my life the lecture has always been a “holier then thou” attitude. But today it was saying that Christians, Hindus, Muslims and even Buddhist must learn to live together. Seems somebody has knocked some sense into them finally. Good to hear that also.

Hope this is genuine and not just till the elections. Past actions have put us all in reservations.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New 2008 year.

    Firstly Merry Christmas to all.

On this day to be thankful, I just wanted to point something out.

That, despite all the grievances and seminal events that have happened this year, this day those with grievances and legitimate concern chooses to put it aside rather than take advantage of it which they are more than entitled to do and which BN politicians never fail to do every holliday.

So those who still have no regrets of their roles in other grievances and misfortune, should take this time to reflect on themselves on how lucky they really arel…

    Again, Merry Xmas.

Merry Xmas to all, today we should take a break from all the political stuffs to rest our body and mind. We shall continue our battle tomorrow!

I had been listening to it coming out from the mouth of our Ulama, MPs and even our very own PM (both Tun & AAB) for don’t know how many years already (26 years old soon, sob sob getting older). Its all bull#$%@ where they said one thing in front the TV and do the opposite behind the curtain. Trust me, they will still demolish some temples and remove crosses.

    Sibu,
I hope you think and get your facts right before you shoot your mouth.
You are not aware of the fact that there are many Sabahans and Sarawakians who are Catholics and they do not know English. The Bahasa version is for them.

Moreover it is a Church newsletter and circulated ONLY among Catholics in the church.
This paper has been in circulation for more than 10 years. How many Malays have become catholics through the Herald?
Are Muslims’ faith that fragile that it can be swayed by a newsletter?
The fear is a figment of imagination of the Home Ministry.

Todays Star reported the PM Christmas message which, incidentally, does not align with his actions.
He spoke against “narrowly defined demands” and ” narrow mindedness and intolerence”.

HE HIMSELF IS GUILTY OF THESE ACCUSATIONS.
Why wish Christians Merry Christmas when just days before you prevented them from using “Allah” in their newsletter.
He is making a mockery of his own message.
This man is a real chameleon.

Let us join hands and pray together that God’s hand will move and change the course of our future. If you’re a Christian, try make it a point to include “Malaysia” into one of your prayer points daily or in a prayer meeting. As I’m not very knowledgable of how other faiths prays…I leave it to you to decide upon the most appropriate way for you to pray for our nation.

Once again, blessed Christmas. May God bless our nation and its people. For the Lord hears the cry of His children, and lifts the suffering of the righteous.
