Hishammuddin should make a Ministerial Statement on the first day of Parliament on the RM9 billion LCS scandal, and why it will not be a new 1MDB scandal?

(Versi BM)

Defence Minister, Hishammuddin Hashim should make a Ministerial State on the first day of Parliament on next Monday, Oct. 3, 2022 on the RM9 billion littoral combatant ships (LCS) scandal and why it will not be a new 1MDB scandal.

As it is, the Defence Ministry’s procurement of then six LCS has made history as it has spanned five five-year plans. Read the rest of this entry »

Is Hishamuudin ready to submit a progress report on the RM9 billion LCS scandal to Parliament on Oct. 3

(Versi BM)

I agree with the Prime Minister, Ismail Sabri Yaacob that it was not unusual to have the budget day in Parliament fixed in early October, as during the time of the fifth Prime Minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the budget day in Parliament was always in in September.

Ismail is right as the budget day in Parliament during Abdullah’s premiership were all in September, viz: Read the rest of this entry »

Is Najib prepared to take an oath that he has nothing to do with the RM9 billion littoral combatant ship (LCS) scandal?

(Versi BM)

Former Prime Minister Najib Razak has lapsed into silence on the RM9 billion littoral combatant ship (LCS) scandal after he realised that he had made a strategic mistake by being in the forefront in the first week the Public Accounts Committee report on the LCS scandal was tabled in Parliament on August 4, 2022.

He was even more outspoken than the current Defence Minister, Hishammuddin Hussein and the Defence Minister when the disastrous RM9 billion LCS procurement was decided upon in 2011 – Ahmad Zahid Hamidi the current UMNO President. Read the rest of this entry »

Why are UMNO and BN leaders completely unconcerned about the RM9 billion LCS scandal, which turned a “dream project” into a national nightmare?

(Versi BM)

UMNO has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AG) to respond to a document purported to be the leaked MACC investigation paper on the judge who had convicted former Prime Minister Najib Razak.

According to the UMNO Secretary-General Ahmad Maslan, the document had been circulating online and is an offence under Section 220 of the Penal Code.

Hishammuddin should explain why the Defence Ministry has reduced from two LCS to one LCS which must be completed and delivered with no additional government funds

(Versi BM)

Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said yesterday that ongoing construction of the first littoral combatant ship (LCS 1) will not involve new allocations from the government.

Hishammuddin said additional allocations for Boustead Naval Shipyard (BNS) to complete the remaining five LCS will only be considered after completion of LCS 1 in reportedly another two years, despite an initial targeted date in 2019. Read the rest of this entry »

Hishammuddin should resign as Minister of Defence if he cannot convince the Cabinet to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the RM9 billion Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) scandal

(Versi BM)

I congratulate the Defence Minister, Hishammuddin Hussein, for his undertaking in the Dewan Negara yesterday during the debate on Senator Lim Hui Ying’s motion of urgent, definite public importance on the RM9 billion littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal to propose the establishment of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the LCS scandal at the next meeting of the Cabinet, which is in a few hours ttime.

Hishammuddin should resign as Minister of Defence if he cannot convince the Cabinet to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the RM9 billion LCS scandal, as it would show that his views and proposals as Defence Minister on defence matters are utterly irrelevant and not taken seriously by other Ministers in the Cabinet. Open Letter to the Minister of Defence, Hishammuddin Hussein on Ten Reasons why there is an urgent need for a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the RM9 billion Littoral Combatant Ship (LCS) scandal

(Versi BM)

I am writing this Open Letter to the Defence Minister, Hishammuddin Hussein, on ten reasons why it is necessary to have a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the RM9 billion littoral combatant ship (LCS) scandal and why he should present the RCI proposal to the Cabinet tomorrow, although views had been expressed that an RCI is not needed now but only action by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The ten reasons are:

(1) Although the all-party Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had done a great job in opening up on the subject of the RM9 billion LCS scandal, not all the facts of the scandal had been unearthed. For instance, the origin of the RM9 billion procurement, its development and the rationale for the various important decisions taken in the scandal resulting in the massive scale and prolongation of the scandal are not known. Was Najib the “hidden hand” behind the RM9 billion LCS scandal?

(Versi BM)

There is one question swirling in the minds of thinking Malaysians in the past week since the tabling of the explosive report of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on the RM9 billion Littoral Combatant Ship (LCS) Scandal: – whether Najib Razak was the “hidden hand” behind the mega scandal.

Without reading and understanding the PAC report, which is a horror story of corruption, fraud, abuse of power, mismanagement and criminality in the public service, Najib had been very active on his Facebook in the past week to defend the RM9 billion LCS scandal and even to blame the Pakatan Harapan for the scandal. – which only reinforced the question. Hisham’s latest statement is even more self-incriminating and as a major UMNO leader and former senior UMNO Minister, he should not hide behind any legal loophole but set an example of accountability, transparency and integrity by revealing all about the improprieties and illegalities in the land swaps under his watch as Defence Minister

Former Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein’s latest statement is even more self-incriminating and as a major UMNO leader and former senior UMNO Minister, he should not hide behind any legal loophole but set an example of accountability, transparency and integrity by revealing all about the improprieties and illegalities in the land swaps under his watch as Defence Minister.

It is all right and proper for him to expose the faults of previous Defence Ministers, as he is not only entitled but has a duty to do so, but he should not apply double standards and spare himself from such exposure of irregularities and illegalities of land swap transactions during his tenure as Defence Minister.

Hishammuddin’s first self-incriminating statement was his cryptic advice to the Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu and Deputy Defence Minister Liew Chin Tong “if they live in glass houses, don’t throw stones”.

I for one would like to know if Mohamad Sabu or Chin Tong are alleged to be involved in corruption or malpractices as to live in “glass houses”. Read the rest of this entry »

Election Commission should hold an inquiry whether it had acted unlawfully in  complying with the  directive  by the previous Najib government to illegally transfer military voters to shore up the support for four Ministers – Zahid Hamidi, Hishammuddin Hussein, Ibrahim Sabry Yaakob and S. Subramaniam

The Election Commission should hold an inquiry whether it had acted unlawfully in complying
with the directive by the previous Najib
government to illegally transfer military voters to shore up the support for four Ministers for the 14th General Election – Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi (Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister), Datuk Seri Hishamuddin
Hussein (Defence Minister), Datuk Seri Ibrahim Sabry Yaakob (Minister for Rural and Regional
Development) and Datuk Seri Dr. S. Subramaniam (Minister for Health).

Last Wednesday, the Election Commission Chairman Azhar Azizan Harun said the Election Commission is awaiting a full audit report by a special investigation committee on procurement, governance  and finance in the Defence Ministry led by former auditor-general Tan Sri Ambrin Buang appointed by the new Pakatan Harapan Government.

The Ambrin audit report had  reported that EC officials were complicit in aiding the ministry in the transfer of military voters to camps built in Bera (Pahang), Segamat (Johor), Paloh (Johor) and Hutan Melintang (Perak) in time to
be eligible to vote in the GE14.  Read the rest of this entry »

Hishammuddin cannot be more wrong – the issue is not whether he has “nothing to hide” but why as Defence Minister, he could not answer questions about whether military intelligence chief had received RM7 million from Najib a month before the last GE?

Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein cannot be more wrong when he gave a curt and terse response to questions about the claim that the director-general of the Defence Staff Intelligence Division had received money from Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak about a month before the last general election.

He avoided the question by simply declaring “I have nothing to hide.”

Hishammuddin cannot be more wrong – the issue is not whether he has “nothing to hide” but why as Defence Minister, he could not answer questions whether the military intelligence chief had received RM7 million from Najib a month before the last GE; and if so, the reason for the extraordinary payment.

It is no use Hishammuddin going round the bush declaring that the military has “never been political” or that “we are not in the business of spinning this or making speculations”, when the question is why as Defence Minister he could not say “yes” or “no” to the allegation that the director-general of the military intelligence had received RM7 million from the Prime Minister about a month before the 13GE. Call for a nation-wide people’s campaign for collective resignation of Cabinet if 36 Ministers cannot do anything to purge Malaysia of the ignominy and infamy of regarded world-wide as a global kleptocracy

No loyal and patriotic Malaysian can read the updated 251-page USA Department of Justice (DOJ) kleptocratic suit to forfeit US$1.7 billion MDB-linked assets arising from US$4.5 billion 1MDB money-laundering scandal without intense shame, consternation and horror and only those who are prepared to commit treason will be unaffected, unmoved and untouched by the US DOJ action.

This year is the 60th National Day anniversary from the attainment of Merdeka on August 31, 1957, and it is sad and tragic that we have this year the expanded 251-page US DOJ kleptocratic action – which represents the nation’s greatest shame in our 60-year history.

Anyone who wants to understand the meaning of kleptocracy just need to read the 251-page DOJ’s kleptocratic action to forfeit the 1MDB-linked assets, which lays out in shocking detail the results of ongoing meticulous and exhaustive investigations into 1MDB by the US DOJ, which should have been done by the Malaysian authorities!

I call for a nation-wide people’s campaign for the collective resignation of Cabinet if the 36 Ministers cannot do anything at its meeting on Wednesday, 21st June, to purge Malaysia of the ignominy and infamy of regarded world-wide as a global kleptocracy. Read the rest of this entry »

A “coup d’etat” has taken place in UMNO/BN government – not to topple the PM but to protect the PM

A “coup d’etat” has taken place in the UMNO/BN government – not to topple but to protect the Prime Minister.

There can be no administrative or ministerial justification for the additional appointment of Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein as Minister with Special Functions in the Prime Minister’s Department while retaining his portfolio as Defence Minister, except for the political and “strategic” one of protecting Datuk Seri Najib Razak from being ousted as the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia – whether externally as a result of defeat in the forthcoming 14th general election or from being toppled internally as Prime Minister before the polls.

Najib has already set record as the Prime Minister with the most number of Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department, and Hishammuddin will be the tenth Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

But Hishammuddin will be completely different from the other nine Ministers, as he will be the most powerful Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. Read the rest of this entry »

With Hishammuddin clarification, the UMNO “Magnificent 7” who are currently under investigation for disciplinary action cannot be related to any “no confidence” motion against Najib in the forthcoming meeting of Parliament

UMNO Vice President and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said yesterday that former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad had not betrayed UMNO by calling on the Datuk Seri Najib Razak to step down as Prime Minister and the voters of Pekan to vote out Najib in Pekan.

Hishammuddin said: “In terms of the party, it is not a betrayal. (But) it should not go on and should not be entertained as it could break the party apart.”

Hishammuddin said such attacks could damage the party but so far, no damage has been done.

With Hishammuddin clarification, UMNO/BN MPs do not have to feel as if they are traitors to the nation or party if they are inclined to the position that Najib should not continue as Prime Ministere and want to discuss with the Opposition the proposal of no confidence motion against Najib as PM. Keris waving: A decade later

— Liew Chin Tong
The Malay Mail Online
July 20, 2015

JULY 20 — A decade ago on 20th July 2005, the then Umno Youth chief Hishammudin Hussein gave his infamous keris-wielding speech during the Umno Youth General Assembly, in a gesture that has come to symbolise Umno’s turn to right-wing politics since then.

His act of Keris waving is arguably the image that defined the last decade of Malaysian politics. Coupled together with Umno’s right turn, it paved the way for Umno’s dramatic decline.

The Keris waving act was part of the push to the right by certain groups within Umno during the 2005 Umno General Assembly.

The resolution of the said General Assembly was the introduction of a “Malay Agenda” and the reintroduction of the New Economic Policy, which had been downplayed in the early 1990s .

The keris waving act and Umno’s right turn did not gain Umno much new Malay support as the Malay middle ground dislikes harsh and extreme acts. Read the rest of this entry »

Najib should explain his role in the 1MDB-Tabung Haji fiasco, in particular whether he had approved or directed LTH in the 1MDB land sale

The Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH) Chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahman has announced that following advice from the Prime Minister, the plot of prime land in the Kuala Lumpur city centre which LTH purchased from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) is to be sold to the highest of three bidders within the next two weeks.

This has however not ended the storm over the scandal and stigma of criminal breach of trust of pilgrim funds to bailout 1MDB, which is acquiring increasing gale force with rising chorus for the resignation of the Chairman and the four top executives of LTH, the termination of the 1MDB-LTH land deal and the refund of the payment made by LTH, and even for the resignation of the Prime Minister himself.

The Prime Minister cannot continue with his policy of elegant silence while giving private and meaningless assurances that “he will not protect those involved” if there was any wrongdoing.

Even his cousin-UMNO Vice President, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein had broken ranks and joined Deputy UMNO President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and UMNO Vice President Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal to express concerns about the government’s credibility as to suggest an international, independent auditing firm to examine 1MDB accounts – which tantamounts to a vote of no confidence in Najib’s initiative in early March asking the Auditor-General to audit the 1MDB accounts. Two speeches by UMNO Ministers in Permatang Pauh yesterday highlighted the urgent need for UMNO to get a real education in democracy by being sent to Opposition benches with the end of its national monopoly of power since Merdeka in 1957 and Malaysia in 1963

Two speeches by UMNO Ministers in the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign yesterday highlighted the urgent need for UMNO to get a real education in democracy by being sent to Opposition benches with the end of its national monopoly of power since Merdeka in 1957 and formation of Malaysia in 1963.

The first was the haughty, arrogant and insufferable statement by the Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who said that applications for agricultural funds and projects in Permatang Pauh will not be approved if Pakatan Rakyat wins the by-election again.

Speaking at the Kuala Mengkuang polling district, Ismail said:

“This is an agricultural area. I will surely approve if it is Suhaimi Sabudin (BN candidate) who is making the applications.

“If it is (PKR’s president and candidate Datuk Seri Dr) Wan Azizah (Wan Ismail), she will not even get past my office lobby.

“There is no reason for me to see her. She is from the opposition.”

Ismail, of the “call to Malay consumers to boycott Chinese businesses” notoriety, who not only highlighted the ingrained racist thinking of certain UMNO Ministers but also the double standards in the “administration of justice” by the Police and the Attorney-General’s Chambers, clearly had no notion that his Ministerial responsibility is to 30 million Malaysians regardless of race, religion, territory or political affiliation; that he is not paid by UMNO funds but by public funds by all taxpayers and his duty is to be a Minister for all Malaysians, and not just to UMNO (which, eventually, ends up in only UMNO cronies)!

In a truly democratic administration, a Minister who make such petty-minded, anti-people and undemocratic sentiments would be immediately hauled up by the Prime Minister and made to retract his statement, even facing the risk of being sacked from the Cabinet, with or without such a retraction.
