Did PAS win the two state governments of Kelantan and Terengganu in the 14GE because of immature young voters?

The question whether PAS won the two state government of Kelantan and Terengganu in the 14th General Election because of the immature young voters in the two states is the immediate response to the startling assertion by the PAS President Datuk Seri Hadi Awang that the Barisan Nasional (BN) lost the 14th General Election on May 9 partly due to the “political immaturity” of young voters.

Hadi does not seem to agree that the corruption and misbehaviour of BN leaders were major causes of the BN defeat, which reinforces the perception on PAS’ role to aid and abet former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak in his monstrous 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal until the people rejected Najib in the ballot box.

It is highly regrettable that Hadi continued to be one of the foremost practitioners of the toxic politics of lies, fear, hate, race and religion, to incite fears over the alleged 66 parliamentary seats held by non-Muslims and 58 by Muslims in the government coalition and that the Muslim MPs are being bullied and dominated by the non-Muslim MPs.

It is clear that as PAS President, Hadi regrets UMNO and Barisan Nasional lost in Putrajaya, as he is not interested in integrity and good governance issues and has no objections to Malaysia becoming a global kleptocracy as a result of former Prime Minister’s 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal.

It is therefore most fortunate that Hadi failed to play any “kingmaker” role in the 14th GE with the PAS failure to win 40 parliamentary seats, with the intent to prop up Najib to continue as Prime Ministe of Malaysia and keep UMNO and Barisan Nasional in Putrajaya.

From Hadi’s statement, it would appear that PAS under his leadership is opposed to the proposal to lower the voting age from 21 years to 18 years. Let PAS leaders speak up.

Charging of Najib and Arul Kanda over tampering with Auditor-General’s 1MDB Report highlights the role of PAS leadership in aiding and abetting the 1MDB scandal

The charging of the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and former 1MDB Chief Executive Officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy with tampering of the Auditor-General’s 1MDB report in 2016 has highlighted the role of the PAS leadership in aiding and abetting the 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal.

In April 2017, the PAS Central Working Committee publcily gave approval to the 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda who briefed it for more than two hours about the 1MDB.

No wonder that that there won’t be a joint UMNO-PAS anti-1MDB Rally where the respective UMNO and PAS Presidents, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Hadi Awang will condemn Najib, the 1MDB scandal and grand corruption in Malaysia, which reached such stratospheric heights as to make Malaysia a global kleptocracy under Najib’s premiership.

The PAS President, Datuk Seri Hadi Awang may be able to square Islam with kleptocracy, but I am sure that the majority of Muslims and non-Muslims cannot accept any equation of Islam or any of the great religions of the world with corruption and kleptocracy.

It has been reported that the fear of UMNO becoming too Islamic-centric and getting closer to PAS were the main reasons for the exodus of its Sabah members.

A stronger reason would be the axis between UMNO and PAS to defend Najib’s kleptocracy and the 1MDB scandal.

PAS the biggest winner of the Anti-ICERD rally while UMNO the biggest loser

The biggest winner in Anti-ICERD (Internatioal Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination) rally in Kuala Lumpur yesterday was PAS, which managed to distract public attention from the fact that its President Datuk Seri Hadi Awang had reduced PAS from a national party achieved under the presidency of Fadzil Noor back into a regional political party in the 14th General Election.

The biggest loser of the Anti-ICERD rally was UMNO, as for the first time in 72 years, the UMNO President played a secondary role to that of the PAS President, with the UMNO President wooing PAS for an union while PAS played coy in the courtship.

Hadi’s ambition for PAS has increased exponentially before and after the 14th General Election.

Before the 14GE, Hadi wanted PAS to play the role of “king-maker” by winning 40 parliamentary seats, which would enable him to prop up Datuk Seri Najib Razak to continue as Prime Minister of Malaysia, heedless of Najib’s role in hurtling Malaysia in the trajectory of a rogue democracy, a kakistocracy, a failed state and a global kleptocracy.

Now, Hadi could not be satsified to be a “kingmaker” for UMNO to continue to rule Malaysia, as he would himself want to be Prime Minister in a political scenario where UMNO needs PAS more than PAS needs UMNO! Read the rest of this entry »

More questions about Hadi and PAS MPs’ position on ICERD

Yesterday, I asked the PAS President Datuk Seri Hadi Awang what he really meant when he said that all Muslims must oppose the ratification of the International Covenant on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) when the Covenant had been ratified by countries representing 99% of the 1.9 billion Muslims in the world, including countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Oman, Qatar, UAB, Algeria, Pakistan, Turkey, Tunisia, Morocco, Indonesia and Bangladesh.

While we wait for answer from the PAS President, Hadi can also explain why 55 of the 57 countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) States have ratified ICERD, except for Malaysia and Brunei. Is there a suggestion that somehow the 99% the world’s 1.9 billion Muslims, who live in 55 of the 57 OIC countries, have been misled and not as Muslim as Hadi would want them to be? Is Hadi suggesting that only 1% of the 1.9 billion Muslims in the world are qualify as true Muslims, as all Muslim countries except for Malaysia and Brunei, have ratified the International Covenant of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (Icerd)

PAS President, Datuk Seri Hadi Awang has upped the ante and declared that all Muslims must oppose the ratification of the International Convention of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (Icerd).

Is he suggesting that only one per cent of the 1.9 billion Muslim in the world qualify to be called true Muslims as all Muslim countries including all the Muslim countries in the Middle East except for Malaysia and Brunei have ratified the International Convention of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (Icerd)?

The countries which have ratified Icerd, some with reservations, include the following 36 countries:

All the UMNO and PAS MPs who disregarded and defied the Speaker’s directives and shouted and yelled incessantly to stop Waytha Moorthy from continuing his reply in Parliament on Monday should be referred to the Committee of Privileges to prevent another recurrence

What happened in Parliament on Monday morning, when UMNO and PAS Members of Parliament defied and disregarded the Speaker’s directives and shouted and yelled incessantly to stop the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, P. Waytha Moorthy from replying and delivering his speech during the Ministerial winding-up in the debate on the 2019 Budget is the greatest disgrace in the half-a-century history of Malaysian Parliament, as such a dishonourable incident had never happened before in the Malaysian Parliament since 1959.

Has parliamentary standards in Malaysia degraded so much in the past half-a-century? Is the Malaysian Parliament next to graduate to fist-fights and physical attacks on the Speaker as happened in other Parliaments?

What made Monday’s disgraceful incident in Parliament even more shocking is that some of the miscreant Members of Parliament were former Cabinet Ministers – which highlighted the glaring fact that the former Cabinet that was unceremoniously chucked out of Putrajaya by the Malaysian voters on May 9, 2018 was one the worst in Malaysian history – made up of the most “deadwood” and “half-past six” Ministers. Will UMNO and PAS hold joint protest rally to condemn Najib, 1MDB scandal and Malaysia becoming a global kleptocracy

Will UMNO and PAS hold a joint protest rally against Najib Razak, 1MDB scandal and Malaysia becoming a global kleptocracy?

There are no signs that UMNO and PAS are prepared to do so, as their leaders and Members of Parliament do not regard the international 1MDB corruption, criminal breach of trust and money-laundering scandal or the infamy and ignominy to Malaysia to be regarded worldwide as a global kleptocracy to be of any concern at all.

This is why in the 2019 Budget debate in Parliament, while the 1MDB scandal continues to make daily waves internationally, not a single UMNO or PAS MP dare to take a stand that the monstrous 1MDB “kleptocracy at its worst” scandal is a national catastrophe and that the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak must be held responsible for the infamy of Malaysia becoming a global kleptocracy. Fie to all Opposition MPs as not a single UMNO, MCA, MIC, PAS or Opposition MP dared to take a stand during the Budget debate that 1MDB scandal is a national catastrophe and Najib must be held responsible for the infamy of Malaysia becoming a global kleptocracy

The 2019 Budget debate in Parliament has ended, with the Ministers beginning their replies today.

One of the most astounding features of the 2019 Budget debate is that not a single UMNO, MCA, MIC, PAS or Opposition MP dare to take a stand that the monstrous 1MDB “kleptocracy at its worst” scandal is a national catastrophe and that the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak must be held responsible for the infamy of Malaysia becoming a global kleptocracy.

This despite my public reminder before the budget debate that every Opposition MP should declare his or her stand whether 1MDB scandal was a national catastrophe and whether Najib should be held responsible for Malaysia becoming a global kleptocracy.

This shows that not a single Opposition MP could be depended upon to perform the national duty to redeem Malaysia’s international reputation and standing by transforming Malaysia from a global kleptocracy into a leading nation in integrity in the world. Read the rest of this entry »

Did Zahid get a mandate from various UMNO levels – UMNO Supreme Council, UMNO MPs and State Assembly representatives, UMNO Divisions, UMNO Youth, UMNO Wanita and UMNO Puteri and the UMNO General Assembly – as well as from other Barisan Nasional parties for the proposal of a merger between UMNO and PAS?

UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi must be credited with making the most astounding announcement in the six months after Malaysians created history toppling the sixth Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the six-decade rule of UMNO/BN Government in a peaceful and democratic transition of power.

This is his proposal at the joint UMNO-PAS rally in Pasir Salak last night openly calling for a PAS-UMNO merger “in the name of Islam, Malays, Malaysia and bumiputera”.

Two months ago, Zahid assured Malaysians that the co-operation between UMNO and PAS was not leading towards the formation of a new coalition but was a co-operation between two parties to strengthen their roles in the opposition camp.

There is now a quantum jump in Zahid’s political thinking where an informal co-operation for Opposition’s sake had been skyrocketed into a merger between the two parties.

But two questions need to be clarified first: Read the rest of this entry »

Hadi has proved himself a disgrace to political Islam as he cannot comply with my 48-hour challenge to substantiate his allegation that DAP discriminates against the East Coast by opposing equal development for Terengganu and Kelantan

PAS President, Datuk Haji Hadi Awang has proved himself a disgrace to political Islam as he cannot comply with my 48-hour challenge to substantiate his allegation that DAP discriminates against the East Coast by opposing equal development for Terengganu and Kelantan.

I am reminded of Saturday’s 47th ABIM annual congress at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia in Nilai themed “Visi Islam dalam aspirasi Malaysia Baharu” and the keynote address by Professor Datuk Dr. Siddiq Fadzil on “Malaysia Baharu & Kesinambuangan Reformasi Islahiy”, where Dr. Siddiq stressed that the prerequisite for the building of a New Malaysia is to undertake a “human and cultural transformation”. Hadi will be a disgrace to political Islam if he cannot substantiate his allegation that DAP discriminates against the East Coast by opposing equal development for Terengganu and Kelantan

I am astonished by the allegation by the PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang that DAP is guilty of “sikap diskriminasi…yang tidak menyokong hasrat kerajaan untuk membawa pembagunan saksama kepada lima negeriu termasuk Terengganu dan Kelantan”.

In a Berita Harian online report which appeared at 4.07 pm yesterday, under the heading “PAS dakwa DAP diskriminasi pembangunan Pantai Timur”, Hadi was quoted as saying that “diskriminasi DAP terhadap hasrat Kerajaan Persekutuan untuk memajukan negeri Pantai Timur begitu ketara”.

The Berita Harian report said:

Read the rest of this entry »

PAS leadership admitting for the first time PAS is “down” but PAS will go further “down” if the PAS leadership continues to take a contrary position from two former PAS Presidents Fadzil Nor and Yusuf Rawa and former Mursydul Am Nik Aziz

At last, the PAS leadership of Datuk Seri Hadi Awang has admitted that under its stewardship, PAS is “down”.

I have never said that PAS is “out” but I dare to forecast that so long as the Hadi leadership continues to take a contrary position from the two former PAS Presidents Fadzil Nor and Yusuf Rawa and the former PAS Mursydul Am Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, PAS will continue to go further “down” in the Malaysian political landscape.

In response to my statement yesterday, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said I should not underestimate PAS party despite its weaker results in the May 9 general election and although PAS is “down”, it is not “out”.

The Kota Bharu MP noted that his party had gone to the polls without relying on the support of others, unlike Amanah, PPBM or even DAP.

Is the PAS Secretary-General suggesting that that he envisages a day when PAS on its own can win a general election in Malaysia, without support from any other political party? If so, the PAS leaders are living in a world of their own, unrelated to the realities on the ground. Read the rest of this entry »

UMNO and PAS leaders should stop their delusion to justify the MCA/UMNO/PAS unholy alliance in-the-making when the real intent of the unholy pact is purely for the selfish interests of UMNO and PAS leaders.

A PAS leader has said that the PAS’ increased vote share at the Seri Setia by-election yesterday showed that further cooperation between BN and PAS was worth exploring.

He said Harapan’s popular vote had deteriorated whereas PAS had made significant inroads.

Hadi’s PAS leadership appears to be Najib’s last line of defence in the unraveling of Najib’s kleptocratic premiership when even UMNO leaders are beginning to distance themselves from the former Prime Minister

Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s PAS leadership appears to be former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s last line of defence in the unravelling of Najib’s kleptocratic premiership when even UMNO leaders are beginning to distance themselves from the former Prime Minister.

Acting Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said that all quarters should respect the ongoing Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) probe against Najib, as long as it is conducted appropriately “within the appropriate hours”.

If this rule had been strictly observed, Teoh Beng Hock would not have died at the Selangor MACC premises in Shah Alam on July 16, 2009, and still awaiting for justice for nearly nine years – the reason why the Teoh Beng Hock case, like many other cases of injustices resulting in death, should be re-opened for justice to be finally done.

But apart from Zahid, there is thunderous silence from the other UMNO leaders like UMNO Vice President Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and the UMNO Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin on the 1MDB scandal and Najib’s “global kleptocracy”. Read the rest of this entry »

Najib and Hadi have formed an UMNO-PAS unholy alliance to induct Malaysia into the world of fake news and “post-truths”

The surreal world of “fake news” and “post-truths” have finally come to Malaysia, with the PAS President, Datuk Seri Hadi Awang showing his hand.

Hadi’s propaganda offensive in the past few days, echoing Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s baseless attacks on the DAP as anti-Malay, anti-Islam, the dominant power in Pakatan Harapan with all other leaders, whether Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail or Mohamad Sabu as mere DAP puppets and stooges, marks an UMNO-PAS unholy alliance to induct Malaysia into the world of fake news and “post-truth”.

Will Hadi next say that Nik Aziz had endorsed Hadi’s support for “MO1” and Malaysia becoming a “global kleptocracy”?

PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang claims that the former PAS Mursyidul Am, the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, had noticed before his passing that there were “problems” with DAP.

Hadi has joined the ranks of those who manufacture lies, fake news and false information when he claimed that the DAP had become arrogant because it had won more seats in 2013, “always fanning racial sentiments” which “led to racial tensions”.

Like UMNO/BN propagandists and cybertroopers, Hadi would not be able to cite a single instance to substantiate his lies, fake news and false information.

He has even swallowed hook, line and sinker the UMNO/BN propaganda that DAP was pulling Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s strings.

Will Hadi next say that Nik Aziz had endorsed Hadi’s support for “MO1” and Malaysia becoming a “global kleptocracy? Read the rest of this entry »

We are living in the era of fakeries – fake news, fake committee on fake news, fake news analysis, fake elections, fake patriotism and even fake oaths

This is the era of fake news, fake news analysis, fake committee on fake news, fake elections, fake patriotism and even fake oaths.

With the approach of the 14th General Election in a hundred days, Malaysia is awash with fake news, defined as a type of yellow journalism or propaganda that consists of lies, deliberate misinformation or hoaxes spread via traditional print and broadcast news media or online social media designed to incite hatred and poison the minds of the people.

There is now a proposal for a Fake Committee on Fake News headed by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Azalina Othman with representatives from the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the Police and the Ministry of Multimedia and Communications. Read the rest of this entry »

No anger or outrage but only pity and contempt that the MCA leader has sunk so low as to spread the atrocious lies of UMNO and PAS leaders that I want to be Prime Minister

I should feel angry or outraged but I have only pity and contempt for the MCA President, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai that he has sunk so low as to spread the atrocious lies of UMNO and PAS leaders that I want to be Prime Minister.

Even a person of minimum political sense would know that this canard has been used by UMNO leaders for quite some time to scare and railroad the Malay electorate to vote for UMNO in the next general election, as the centerpiece of their campaign of lies, fake news and false information that if UMNO is defeated in the next general election, the Malays and Islam would perish in Malaysia.

There is no need for me to repeat what I had said before that in my 52 years in politics, the thought of becoming Prime Minister has never entered my mind.

Let me reiterate my three basic political positions:

Is DAP “unclean” because it does not support Hadi as Prime Minister?

The attack by the PAS President, Datuk Seri Hadi Awang that the DAP is unclean sets many Malaysians asking whether the DAP is unclean because it does not support Hadi as Prime Minister but would become instantly “clean” if DAP supports Hadi as Prime Minister.

For seven years from 2008 to 2015, Hadi led PAS to co-operate with DAP and PKR in Pakatan Rakyat to replace the UMNO/BN coalition in Putrajaya.

At which point Hadi found that the DAP was “unclean” and not worthy of co-operation?

Was it in 2012 when Hadi sought and failed to get the support of DAP that the Pakatan Rakyat candidate for Prime Minister should be Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah and not Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim?

Was Hadi preparing to spring a surprise to use the quota of PAS MPs as the “kingmakers” to decide which coalition, Pakatan Rakyat or Barisan Nasional, should form the federal government after the 13th General Election, depending among other things on whether Hadi got his way on who would be the Prime Minister – with Hadi always preferring to be Deputy Prime Minister of a Najib-led instead of an Anwar-led Cabinet? Hadi has jumped on the Najib bandwagon spreading the lies that I want to be Prime Minister and that if UMNO loses, the Malays and Islam will perish in Malaysia

PAS President Datuk Seri Hadi Awang has jumped on the Najib bandwagon, spreading the lies that I want to be Prime Minister and that if UMNO loses in the next general election, the Malays and Islam will perish in Malaysia.

The UMNO mouthpiece, the New Straits Times, today reported Hadi’s comments from Marang on the UMNO-generated controversy that “DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang could end up becoming the prime minister in the event the opposition wins the General 14th General Election”, quoting Hadi as saying that PAS most definitely oppose a non-Muslim leader becoming prime minister.

Hadi said: “Our priority is to ensure that a Muslim leads the country.

“That is important. We must ensure this country remains under the leadership of a Muslim.”

In the past week, both the UMNO owned and controlled printed and online media had been trying to generate a controversy over the dual theme of Najib’s speech at the recent UMNO General Assembly and which was repeated ad nauseam during the five-day UMNO Assemblies,, that I want to be Prime Minister and that if UMNO loses in the next general election, the Malays and Islam will perish in Malaysia but with no success.

Now Hadi is trying to salvage UMNO to keep alive the dual lies of Najib and UMNO, that I want to be Prime Minister and that if UMNO loses, Malays and UMNO will perish in Malaysia? Read the rest of this entry »
