Najib’s claim that he was cleared of wrongdoing in PAC report over 1MDB is the most blatant, greatest and worst fake news concocted by Malaysian Government

Yesterday, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak concocted the most blatant, greatest and worst fake news in Malaysia when he claimed that he was cleared of wrongdoing in the Public Accounts Committee Report (PAC) over the 1MDB scandal.

I challenge the Prime Minister to quote chapter and verse in the PAC Report on 1MDB which was tabled in Parliament in April 2016 which cleared him of any wrongdoing in the 1MDB scandal, and which had continued to make world headlines about kleptocracy in 1MDB in the past three years.

I am prepared to attend any news conference or event presided by Najib for him to quote chapter and verse from the PAC report which cleared him of wrongdoing in the 1MDB scandal.

One newspaper headline of Najib’s speech at the launch of the National Transformation Programme (NTP) report yesterday said: “PAC didn’t say I stole from 1MDB, says PM”.

This is another irresponsible fake-news, as the PAC Report also did not say that Najib did not steal from 1MDB.

This Najib’s worst fake news in Malaysian history throws an unflattering light on the so-called anti-fake news legislation which the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Azalina Othman said would be taken to Parliament next week.

Malaysians are entitled to ask whether the government’s anti-fake news legislation is to protect UMNO/BN’s fake news and to give immunity and impunity to UMNO/BN leaders, propandists and “quinoa cybertroopers” who concoct and peddle such fake news other immunity and impunity for their criminal actions.

If not, will the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Council (MCMC) and the Police initiate actions against the Prime Minister beginning with investigations?

AND no less than our Education Minister says suppose “fake news law” is urgent because of some suppose rumour in some school about public holliday.

Firstly, the Education Minister should be asking why school hollidays are so variable, no country calls changes in hollidays like we do..

Secondly, if the Education Minister think lying about stealing tens of billions, breaking govt institutions, is so much more important than gossip about hollidays, you have to wonder what he thinks about the important material to teach our children?
