The pro-chancellor of UiTM has made an overly simplistic argument about the GE13 and racial disunity in this country. He assumes that the Chinese and Indian Vernacular Schools are to be blamed and thus should be terminated. However simplistic his argument is, I, reluctantly, tend to agree with him…that these vernacular schools must go. But….should not the same simplistic argument be made on Islamic Religious schools that puts Malay children in the system for 11 years without knowing any other races? And …for that matter…what about UiTM? Is this not the biggest race based educational institution in…the World? So…if Chinese and Indian Vernacular Schools must go …so must Islamic religious Schools and UiTM should also be closed.
Now if we close all Islamic and Vernacular Schools, we have to prepare a robust National School Curriculum that TRULY takes care of the Cultural and Religious Needs of All Malaysian Societies. Yes, there must even be the teaching of Christianity and Buddhism in the National School! And yes there must be the teachings of Chinese and Indian Cultural anchors in our National Schools. During Merdeka, it was assumed that if we can forget all our cultures and religions, than we will be one big happy family. We would go the Communist Way or the Western Secular Way. But after 50 years of Merdeka our cultures are still held dearly and this is a testament to their importance… not hindrance…to national unity. All we need is simply to understand each other cultures more and stop learning too much science, geography, history and mathematics that is overloaded now anyway.
Now, a different scenario. What if we all want to still keep the Vernacular Schools, the Religious Schools and UiTM? Senang saja. We should have a STRICT policy that any child who goes through a 6 year primary Vernacular or Religious School curriculum MUST spend a YEAR OUT at a National School. This applies also to the Secondary Vernacular and Religious School. The secondary student MUST spend one YEAR OUT at a national secondary school. No two ways about it. Ah…what about UiTM? Same thing. Diploma Students at UiTM MUST spend One SEMESTER OUT at a multi-racial College…Preferably TAR College! All Degree Students MUST spend TWO SEMESTERS OUT, preferably at University Tunku Abdul Rahman. This way, we should ensure some resemblance of racial unity…even if a little.
So…what say you Pro-Chancellor? I ‘support’ your idea tetapi ..kalau boleh…jangan cakap pasal salah orang lain saja…salah kita kena tengok-tengok sama.

I hate these kinds of arguments – tit-for-tat. What the pro-Chancellor and the rest of the blaming and racist ranting ARE EXCUSES. Its a disease of Mahathirism. In fact making excuses IS Mahathirism. They are excuses based on LIES, FICTION.. The Malay Dillemma is STILL considered by real intellectuals to be a work of fiction.
What use is fighting corruption or any ‘transformation’ if the HYPOCRISY only just get worst? We have had four years of seeing the HYPOCRISY taken to another level – and the GE result only says that the nation continue to fall behind..
From start we should have PUT HYPOCRISY at the top of the agenda against UMNO/BN because its the root of their EXCUSES..Calling for closure of vernacular schools, telling people to migrate if they don’t like the election results. etc..They are EXCUSES – a national disease of Mahathrism.

Suckers!!!! Look at Singapore! There isn’t any problem at all. S’pore was having the same government system and educational systems before. It was only after independence from us, it has its own robust educational systems and government systems!!!! It keeps all Vernacular Schools; but it emphasizes on English as main language in works and government offices!!!! Some of my Singaporean friends were from Chinese Schools in Mandarin stream and Malay Schools in Malay stream; yet they are competent in their tertiary studies in English stream.
S’pore keeps and uses the same GCE “O” Level and GCE “A” Level from the old colonial systems. Their educational system is so versatile and recognizable in the world market. Many Singaporean from English stream can speak and write excellent English. Those from English stream are exempted from sitting TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) exams and matriculation courses/classes and etc-etc.
Their human resources are highly qualified, productive and vibrant. Many foreign investors are attracted!!!! Their governmental systems are dynamic and vibrant with up-to-date policies. For example, they transformed from low-ends manufacturing economy to high-tech, financial hubs, world class medical center and etc-etc
Bolehland, suck educational system, poor government system, high bureaucracy, corrupted civil systems and etc-etc… Who should you blame? Appropriate answer is our BN/UMNO suckers, esp., snaky Bakkuthair!!! For example, the MSC (Multimedia Super Corridor) is rotten like sh*t without any interests from foreign investors right at beginning. Investors anticipated Internet speed will boost high and fast in times. Why need the MSC for? We can watch IPTV, animated Commercials & Advertisements and etc directly online without downloads. Now, the Cloud Technologies and Mobile Technologies are boosting and booming. Why need those rigid multimedia, CD-ROMs/DVD-ROMs and etc…
Our BN/UMNO government let MSC rots itself without any initiatives to transform quick to accommodate current technologies, such Cloud and Mobile Technologies as to keep pace with dynamic and fast changing technologies. Even our government wanted to transform; they don’t know how. Besides, it lacks of vibrant professionals. Most of qualified Bolehland professionals migrated overseas after graduating from foreign institutions and etc.
Hey, what about those abundant PhD and Master Degree holders from our local universities (USM, UiTM and etc)???? Local Universities awarded thousands of PhD and Master Degree holders yearly, dude!!!! Are they incompetent and useless, huh????

Even before I had a family I had decided to send my children to Mandarin school! But since I only had one son so I sent him to do his primary years in Kuen Cheng KL! When he switched to K school for his Secondary, the system was so different he grew complacent! Mugging when he was facing tests or Examinations!
So please defend Vernacular Schools by all means!
religious schools are just to top up the lack of sufficient hours these K schools provide for Muslims!
I would rather my Cucu2 attend arabic schools so they have early development in piety and honesty!
THESE UMNOs are professed Muslims but they are big SINNERS! Bad examples of Muslims!

There is nothing wrong with having a one stream school system. It is all over the world. Afraid that your children will be taught in your own mother’s tongue, bahasa Melayu?

seetee64, do other countries hv a govt fully funded college or university solely for one race?? or 2 different matriculation system, or 2 different pricing system for public housing etc
Switzerland have 4 different schools, yet their people are very united, Canada also hv 2 different schools, but they are united. India case , I don’t know how many languages?
