KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 — Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has denied questioning the citizenship of any Malaysians in his speech at the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) convention, as claimed by Umno politicians and its newspaper Utusan Malaysia.

Lim implied that his remarks were taken out of context, adding he had merely stressed that real Malaysians were ordinary, peace-loving people who upheld the principles of justice, truth and freedom, and placed importance on economic rights and a brighter future.

“It is clear that Utusan Malaysia and Penang Umno leaders like Dr Novandri Hasan Bari are once again… spreading lies by claiming that the Chief Minister wants to question the citizenship of Malaysians,” Lim’s office said in a short press statement.

Penang Umno leader Dr Novandri Hasan Bari today claimed the DAP secretary-general was “expanding his scope of hatred” beyond Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno to the general populace for saying Utusan Malaysia readers were not “real Malaysians”.

“Of course, we cannot avoid thinking that Guan Eng’s hates the Malays because Malays are the ones that read Utusan Malaysia!” he said today.

In his speech over the weekend, Lim had said, “Who are not the real Malaysians? I wish to start with those who only know how to hate through extremism, whether from a racial, gender or religious aspect.

“This group that only knows how to discriminate, oppress and put down others and even celebrate the bloody May 13 incident are not real Malaysians. Most of them are supporters and fans of Utusan Malaysia and BN, which exploit 3R (race, religion, raja) issues.

“These are not real Malaysians. They are pseudo-Malaysians,” the DAP secretary-general said.

However, Novandri said it was not fair for a “chauvinist” like Lim to question the citizenship of Malaysians just for buying Utusan Malaysia.

He claimed this was proof that the “arrogant” Lim was unfit to be Penang Chief Minister, and further accused the DAP man of being an ineffective state leader.

Lim’s assertion that BN and Umno had exploited 3R issues for political gain clearly showed that he did not appreciate the success and prosperity that Malaysia has achieved so far, Novandri added.

“Is Guan Eng blind to the economic and educational achievements of his own race in this country,” he said.

“If it were true Umno only looked after Malays, it would not have been possible for other races to lead the country’s economy.”

Penang Umno politicians have raised political temperature in the state which BN lost in Election 2008.

Umno president and prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said yesterday his administration is committed to develop Penang “in the national interest” despite political differences with the PR government.

“he did not appreciate the success and prosperity that Malaysia has achieved far”…so said..Novandi.
Yes we appreciate… if the achievements are with open tenders and not do all that at most ridiculous high prices that everyone know the said achievements are nothing but pure corrupted acts .day in day out.
And when corruptions are involved…there will be signs creeping out….leaking roof tops at PutraJaya…smart tunnel became stupid tunnel…stadium roof falling….KLCC fire here and there…few times.
And let Novandi tell us…what have Proton…Berjaya Steel…Port Klang Free Zone achieved?
These are just few put out…and schools computers…costing hundreds of millions must change within 2 years…so are coin slots for parking fees…all awarded to selected few..no tenders.
Novandi may later say….that famous idiotic reason…that Malays are not jealous of Chinese becoming millionaires…so why are Chinese are jealous of Malays becoming millionaires ….and the nonsense start all over again.

Guan Eng should go ahead to sue Utusan Malaysia for defamation. If no action is taken against them, they will be emboldened to fabricate more lies and slanders.

People of Penang should be united and join hands to rid of every Umno “pest” that is still around, in the next GE.
Let there be no room for them to stand in the island and better still have that Umno building “lelong” as well.
In such way, Penang folks will prosper much more faster, just like Singapore.

Dr Novandri Hasan Bari….well, nice-sounding Dr degree.

I don’t mean to be rude but just in case you are one of those Pacific western University-type who buys degrees, please confirm where u got your doctorate. Reason: You sound so stupid to ask such silly questions and make equally asinine statements.

Sorry about asking for yr academic background. We can engage after that. Can’t suffer fools. Just too many in UMNO/BN.

“supporters and fans of Utusan Malaysia and BN, which exploit 3R (race, religion, raja) issues” described by LGE as extremists and not real Malaysians are not necessarily readers of Utusan Malaysia. (LGE did not say “readers”).

Even if they were, it does not mean generally all readers of Utusan Malaysia are extremists. As an illustration 5% extremist readers does not mean 95% balance of readers are also extremist just because they share common readership of UM with the 5% extremist.

However Dr Novandri Hasan Bari finds it convenient to skew and make that fallacious connection to advance his objective of painting LGE as anti Malay.

Frankly, its not wise for CM LGE to attack UMNO Malays too far. The truth is UMNO has touched the lives of most Malays and many PKR members are ex-UMNO. Like it or not, its part of their past and part of them. Going too far in attacking UMNO Malays also attack them emotionally at some deep level.

A wiser strategy is to attack UMNO Baru Malays that have lost their way – the Mahathirist Malays maybe. UMNO today is no longer the party of Tunku – the nemesis is Mahathirism, not the original UMNO..

Real Malaysians, but degraded as 2nd class citizens.

Pseudo-Malaysians, but promoted to first class citizens or “tuan” status.

    So why is Utusan unhappy?

28 million Malaysians (including the illegal immigrants from Indon, Filipinos, ect) can upgrade themselves to PhD level—-imagine having a Doktor Saifool Anus who got kicked out of university in his first year

Simple as that, boycott purchasing the racist newspapers! There are plenty close substitutions in Malaysia market! Why spare your $ for them to spawn racisms and biased or made-up news against non-Malays!
