Challenge to SUPP Sibu chief Wong Soon Koh to a public debate on Friday night on his allegation that “A vote for Rocket is a vote for Islamic State”

The SUPP leadership has unveiled its “killer weapon” for the Sibu by-election, with the SUPP Sibu chief and Sarawak 2nd Finance Minister Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh opening the “killer” attack, declaring that a vote for Rocket and DAP/PR candidate Wong Ho Leng is a vote for PAS and an Islamic State.

The SUPP strategists believe that this is a “killer weapon” which could “finish off” the chances of Ho Leng of ever winning the Sibu by-election “Battle of the Century”, frightening off the Chinese and non-Muslim voters in Sibu, when Ho Leng is already the underdog in the by-election, starting off with a 40% to 60% against him.

In the past two days, as a result of the intensive campaigning by the candidate, Ho Leng, and DAP and Pakatan Rakyat leaders, members and supporters throughout the Sibu constituency, we are beginning to narrow the odds.

The sentiments in Sibu are clearly in favour of change because of the triple importance of the Sibu “battle of the century” – for Sibu, Sarawak and Malaysia.

In the past 48 hours, Ho Leng has perceptibly gained ground and I would roughly estimate that odds after two days of campaigning as 44% to 56% still in favour of the BN candidate.

However, this is already causing panic among the SUPP strategists which have unsettled the SUPP by-election strategy, as could be seen by three examples:

Firstly, hamfisted attempt to hijack the DAP/BN campaign of theme, coming up with billboards all over the Sibu constituency since last evening declaring: “Don’t want Change: Want Reform”.

DAP/PR wants change and reform, for it is not possible to have reform without change.

In saying that SUPP wants to have reform without change, the SUPP leadership is taking the people of Sibu, Sarawak and Malaysians as four-year old children and insulting their intelligence.

It is also an open affront of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia policy where he declared to all Malaysians that “BN is capable of change”.

Now SUPP leadership claims that SUPP is incapable of change although they want reform – “changeless reform”, which deserves a place in the Guinness Book of Records as it is unheard of anywhere else in the world.

Secondly, SUPP leaders are resorting to lies and falsehoods, again with Wong Soon Koh setting the lead.

For instance, he accused me of making personal attacks on the SUPP candidate Robert Lau Hui Yew, why a cousin of the late Robert Lau was nominated as if there are no talents in Sibu, and then he launched a personal attack on me as my son Lim Guan Eng is Penang Chief Minister and my daughter-in-law is a State Assemblywoman.

What Wong said is a downright lie, as I had never made any such personal attack on Hui Yew, asking why a cousin of the late Robert Lau had been nominated and asked if Sibu had no talents. I challenge Wong to produce proof that I had made such a personal attack and if he cannot, would he apologise and withdraw his lies?

SUPP leaders have been ranting about not wanting West Malaysian political culture in Sarawak (why then is the Najib and Muhyiddin making frequent visits to Sibu?) and I want to ask the SUPP leadership whether what they are trying to preserve is the politics and culture of lies and falsehoods as exemplified by Wong’s baseless attacks on me.

The third example is the unveiling of the SUPP “killer weapon” meant to be released just 48 hrs before polling, but released prematurely to stop the momentum of growing support for the DAP/PR candidate, Wong Ho Leng.

SUPP strategists believe that their most powerful weapon against the DAP candidate in the Sibu by-election is the “killer attack” of “A vote for Rocket is a vote for Islamic State”.

DAP’s stand that Malaysia is a secular nation, with Islam as the national religion but not an Islamic state, is a constant and abiding principle which we had remained true, constant and consistent in the past 44 years and will be continue to uphold without compromise.

DAP, PKR and PAS have formed the Pakatan Rakyat on a common platform of principles which we have made public build a free, fair, just and prosperous Malaysia based on the fundamental principles declared in the original Merdeka Constitution 1957 and the Cobbold Commission 1963 safeguards which were the basis for the formation of Malaysia with Sarawak, Sabah and Singapore.

It is true that Islamic State remains the objective of PAS. However, the DAP objective that Malaysia is a secular nation, with Islamic as the official religion but not an Islamic state, also remains unchanged.

This means that Islamic State is not the policy of Pakatan Rakyat so long as DAP remains unswerving in our political principles – which is borne out by the record of dedication and consistency of DAP leaders over the decades.

The lie that “A vote for Rocket is a vote for an Islamic state” had effect in the 1999 general elections but does not have a market in Malaysia today, after the March 8 political tsunami in the 2008 general elections.

This is why in the Bukit Gantang by-election in April 2009, 85% of the Chinese voters in Kuala Sepetang voted for the PAS candidate, Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin for the Chinese voters have seen through the lie of the falsehood “A vote for Rocket is a vote for an Islamic State”.

Similarly, in the recent Hulu Selangor by-election, 82.5% of the Chinese voters in Rasa voted in support of the PR candidate, despite the RM3 million inducement by the Prime Minister for a new Chinese primary school for they do not believe that a vote for PR is a vote for an Islamic State.

SUPP leaders believe that what is no more credible in Peninsular Malaysia is still saleable in Sibu.

I challenge the SUPP Sibu chief Wong Soon Koh to a public debate on Friday night on his allegation that “A vote for Rocket is a vote for Islamic State”.

This will be an excellent occasion to debunk the SUPP falsehood – but the question is whether Wong Soon Kai would dare to accept the challenge.

“…SUPP Sibu chief and Sarawak 2nd Finance Minister Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh ….”

Why does every one want a “2nd Finance Minister”? Is the job that difficult?

My friend says the First Finance Minister is to take care of all the “credits” while the Second Finance Minister is to take care of all the “debits”.

But this does not mean that all the credits will be equal to all the debits. In 1Malaysialand, the scales are often unbalanced.

Let us hope that there will not be a need for a third one.

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, to reform means to make changes.
To have reforms without changes is meaningless.
The dictionary does not cater to such meaninglessness. Only SUPP does!
As far as UMNO/BN being the Federal Government, it is no secret that this country which is governed by them for five over decades is one big mess.
They have not done any governing except to go all out to do everything against the interests of the people.
Even those living right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur do not have clean water. And pipes burst like clock-work because they have become rusty and have not been replaced since they were first laid – decades ago.
Under UMNO/BN, this country is one big disgrace.

If 70% of the Chinese in Hulu Selangor could bravely cast their votes for PR without fear of an Islamic state during the recent by-election, the Chinese in Sibu have nothing to worry about – just emulate their counterparts in Hulu Selangor and go for DAP!

The Chinese in Hulu Selangor are not stupid, they must have taken everything (including Islamic state) into consideration before making their choice for PR.

Sabah and Sarawak should pull out of the federation before it is too late.

Regarding SUPP strategists’ belief that “a vote for Rocket is a vote for Islamic State” is the “killer weapon” which could “finish off” the chances of Ho Leng of ever winning the Sibu by-election perhaps it could be pointed out that it is PAS that, in solidarity with PR’s position, opposes the govt’s ban of the use of “Allah” by Non Muslims/Christians in East Malaysia, that it is the BN govt that appeals against Justice Lau bee Lan’s High court decision allowing the use on constitutional grounds, and further the ban may be inconsistent with one of the basic tenent of 18 point agreement made between the state of Sarawak and the federal government on September 16, 1963 is : “While there was no objection to Islam being the national religion of Malaysia there should be no State religion in Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah), and the provisions relating to Islam in the present Constitution of Malaya should not apply to Borneo”.

I have very strong faith that the Sibu Malaysian Chinese have learn alot after the 13th GE.
Our of no choice…in the past comes the opportunity for them to vote for change in government with the excellent choice…right in front for them to see and feel.
I also have strong faith Foochows values dignity more than money.
It is obvious politics by UMNO B is dirty…supported by selfish good BN politicians…seen so clearly all these years.
If SUPP truly believe in a Malaysian Malaysia…the party ..including MCA should pull out from BN after 12th GE.
Realizing….Sararwak and Sabah are now the “third force”….to decide the faith of all Malaysians…it is simply illogical SUPP does not want change and accepts UMNO B sinners and crooks change of tactics ..and still be bedfellows with these crooks.
It is up to the thousands of voters to think hard and know all the facts.
Once the have full knowledge of the truths…their votes will be for freedom or continue be racists at their disadvantages.
No minority can claim to be equal to the Malays …under UMNO B.
Finally…it is up to SIBU voters to conclude…is massive corruptions a fantasy or real.
If it is fantasy…they must vote for SUPP.
If it is real…a billions stolen….whose money are those stolen from?
They must move away from being selfish voters and vote on behalf of all Malaysians…especially on behalf of young Malaysians..and not their children only.
Yes…let the SIBU Foochows vote with clear conscience….as the results of their votes.. will guide all Malaysians to the path of righteousness or hell.
So SIBU voters..guide with clear serious responsible like attitudes.
Truths is so easy to understand…concerning lies and truth in politics. You decide.

In my previous Hard Talk series I deemed that the Home Minister and DPM as GAGA Ministers but after 3 days of campaigning for the Sibu by election it looks like the whole umno/Supp machineries have gone GAGA as well.

For those who does not know the meaning of GAGA, this is what is explained in the dictionary : gaga – fatuous (vacantly silly, idiotic), senile, slightly crazy.

Umno/Supp does not want change but to have reform, does this look like a gaga statement.

It seems that a constituency can only get a big allocation from the Federal Government when the following criteria are met:

    1. The member of parliament is dead… so a by(or rather a ‘buy’) election is called by SPRM

    2. The chance of victory of Barisan Nasional is uncertain….and there will be a close fight such as 50:50, 40:50….

3.The constituency is was previously controlled by Pakatan Rakyat.. but Barisan Nasional may have chance to grab it back through some cash inducement……..’instant noodles project promised in election campaign by Barisan Nasional’

So … S ibu voters must know what to do to in order to ‘increase the shares value’ of Sibu….

We can see the rural areas in Sarawak which is a Barisan Nasional’s ‘stronghold area’ such as Baram & Marudi do not see much development because the Barisan Nasional excluded it from the priority list-as their position is not ‘threatened’.

Looks like if DAP can sway some 2,000 votes over, it will win this by-election. Is this a justifiable cause for panic among the SUPP strategists?

The Star says: “All Barisan Nasional parties, including those from Sarawak, are equal partners who practise power-sharing, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.” Yes, but unlike the pigs in Animal Farm, Muhyiddin is not so honest when he missed out the part that says that UMNO is more equal than the rest.

Muhyiddin also said: “It’s a big lie to say that Umno bullies other component parties.” Ya, this part I agree. It is not UMNO that wants to bully the component parties, it is the component parties that want to be bullied, so what to do?

The moral of the story for sibu by-election is vote pakatan to make umno deliver. Better still, come general election, vote pakatan into putrajaya.

Dont worry. My gut feeling. Umno wont back-track. Pakatan will be hounding them till they honour their promises. Remember, pakatan is now very strong. And umno knows it. The intensity of negative news on pakatan by umno’s media is a clear indication of pakatan’s position and strength. Besides, pakatan in now cleansed of a lot of unreliable, weak or unscrupulous members. Further, umno is really desperate and it leaders are experiencing a certain sinking feeling about the party’s position in putrajaya.

Singapore has pulled out of Malaysia in 1965. Look at how it has prospered since then. At that time, S$1=RM1, but today, S$1=RM2.50! If Sabah and Sarawak pull out of the Federation, I am sure their currency will rise! Just look at their neighbour, the tiny little BRUNEI!

A vote for Barisan Nasional is a vote for continuation of Corrupt Practices……

Remember – 60% of Sarawak Government project ‘bocor’, PKFZ multi-billion Scandal, stalled Ba’kelalan micro hydro-electric project, NCR(native lands) lands given away to cronies by the stroke of pen of the person-in-power of Sarawak, …. just to cite a few example(or that might be just the tip of an iceberg?)

Sarawakians must be wondering where the 5% oil royalty spend on? – Unknown….! Sarawak remain poor under BN rule for 47 long years…. Its time up for Barisan Nasional….. sufficient time and chances has be given to Barisan Nasional….. Now. Game over!
