RPK and Bala not whistleblowers: Deputy minister

The Sun | 21 April 2010, page 6

DEPUTY Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong said blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin and private investigator P. Balasubramaniam are not considered whistleblowers because they have revealed their identities.

Winding up the debate on the Whistleblowers Protection Bill, he told Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Ipoh Timur), who raised the issue, the two individuals can seek protection under the Witness Protection Act instead.

“They have told the whole world who they are. Whistleblower protection is for those who we do not know who have given information to the authorities. We will never know the identity. That is the intention of this act,” Liew said.

“You don’t understand the difference between Whistleblowers Protection Act and Witness Protection Act. There is a lot of difference.”

Lim protested and said the meaning of whistleblower, as universally accepted, is “a person who informs on another or makes public disclosure of corruption or wrongdoing”.

“Where does it say we must not know who they are? Is the meaning of whistleblower in this law different from that used by the whole world?” he asked.

Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah) said that according to the act itself, whistleblower is defined as one who provides information or discloses an improper conduct.

“There was no mention of the word ‘secret’. I think you yourself are confused,” she told Liew.

Continuing, Liew said Raja Petra and Balasubramaniam were not protected because they have made the disclosure to the media instead of the enforcement authorities.

“This kind of informers do not get protection under this law,” he said. They should not go to the media before giving the information to the authorities.

This is to ensure protection to the accused, who may be facing a baseless allegation, and can also affect the investigation.

The bill was passed.

“They should not go to the media before giving the information to the authorities.”

Then they would end up with the same fate as Altantuya.

When you manage to fool people successfully, its just a lie. BUT when you keep trying to fool people and it keeps failing, its just schizophrenia.

BN is schizophrenic because it has no idea what to do. Classic prodigal behaviour – being used to the easy way and unable to make cathartic change.

There is no incremental way to reform UMNO/BN. Its has to be cathartic and the pain must be severe. Problem is entitlement made them deluded. No easy way to fix delusion.

what use is a legislation when it only bents and favour a certain party ? It is just redundant and serve no purpose.

UMNO/BN just can’t change. Their negative campaigning in Hulu Selangor is back-firing, their youth leader is against it and sent out instruction and yet this morning, they continue, not by taking it up a notch, BUT the same thing.

Those who really believe in UMNO/BN struggle, its doing them a favour by kicking them out of office. Its just a prodigal organisation run amok..

In 1Bolehland, a whistleblower goes about looking like Zorro, The Phantom, The Lone Ranger or Cicakman.

Sooner or later people will prefer to go under-ground and resort to subversive activities, because it is no longer safe to even mention and talk about the wrong-doings that are committed by BN/UMNO.

paragraph 1.1 of the whistleblower act:
Any person whistleblowed on the opposition, the governent will take swift actions. But any person whistleblowed on any umno or bn individuals shall be persecuted and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

For UMNO-controlled Law Enforcement Departments and Judiciary, an additional creteria has to be met:

    that is:

….and the Subject of the whistle-blowing must not be friends/cronies/associates of UMNO/Barisan Nasional….?

Umno-BN is aware that what RPK and Bala know can be damaging to VIPs in the ruling coalition, and thus, mobilizes the system against them.
No surprise that under such overwhelming circumstances, RPK and Bala had to run for their lives…

That idiotic Chengho expects RPK and Bala to vote for BN?
No need to apply as DAP members. Sure to cast votes against BN….good enough.
The point is…will Najib dare to let them vote in peace..freely?
He dare not sue…yet dare not forgive….because he is guilty….so apply the “middle road”……relax..tidak apa…attitude…and now blame Muslims..failures behaving not serious enough.
