(Media Conference Statement by DAP Parliamentary Candidate for Ipoh Timor Lim Kit Siang at DAP Ipoh Timor Ops Centre on Thursday, 6th March 2008 at 12 noon)
Tomorrow is the last day for campaigning before the country goes to polls for the 12th general election on Saturday, March 8, 2008.
Will March 8, 2008 usher a paradigm shift in the Malaysian political landscape by stripping the Barisan Nasional of its unbroken two-thirds parliamentary majority and deal a fatal blow to Umno political hegemony?
It is a tall order just to deny the Barisan Nasional two-thirds parliamentary majority on Saturday, for the DAP, PKN and PAS will each have to win at least 25 seats to ensure that the BN is defeated in at least 75 parliamentary seats, the “magic figure” to make BN’s two-third parliamentary majority and Umno political hegemony history in Malaysia.
A strong and powerful wind of change is blowing in the land, as evidenced by the mammoth ceramah crowds, enthusiastic responses and generous donations of Malaysians in the various states – with crowds of several thousands to more than 10,000 in the ceramahs I attended in the past three days, covering Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Perak, with mammoth ceramah crowds also reported in Penang.
The question is whether the wind of change rising up in the land will be strong and powerful enough on March 8 to make it a day of history and a day of destiny for Malaysia.
The Barisan Nasional leadership had launched the general election campaign with a very cocky and arrogant start, with the Selangor, Malacca and Johore Barisan Nasional leaders declaring that they want to make their states “zero-opposition” states to recent panicky signs in certain BN quarters at the strong and powerful wind of change blowing in the land – causing Barisan Nasional propagandists to resort to the dirty politics of fear, intimidation and blackbail as making May 13 threats.
Let me advice all BN leaders and candidates: Grow up and accept the ups and down of the democratic process and stop being spoiled brats when at most the Barisan Nasional is losing two-thirds parliamentary majority and not losing power.
It is not going to be easy to deprive the Barisan Nasional of its two-thirds majority in Parliament by defeating the BN in at least 75 seats, but it is a goal which is definitely possible and achievable on March 8.
Former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir does not see the BN losing its two-thirds majority on 8th March, as he has predicted that the BN would win between 70 to 75 per cent of the parliamentary seats in the 12th general election as compared to BN victory in over 90 per cent of the parliamentary seats in the 2004 general election.
If Mahathir is right, that BN would win 70 to 75 per cent of the parliamentary seats, this would work out to the opposition winning between 55 to 65 seats, which is a sizable increase from the 2004 general election of 21.
Tun Mahathir gave a very pertinent interview with Malaysiakini yesterday, where he said that the country needs an opposition that can hold up a mirror to the government.
Mahathir said: “I believe in an opposition. I have always maintained that this country needs an opposition and they should be critical of the government without which we don’t have a mirror to look at our faces. We think that we are very beautiful but it is the opposition that keeps telling us (that may not be true).
“You know the government member (of parliament), sometimes they are ‘ahli bodek’ (apple polishers). They are always saying ‘you’re right’, and you have no means of assessing whether you are going in the right direction or not.”
Mahathir said that it would be a “disaster” if the country “loses its opposition” as in Singapore.
I am glad that Mahathir, who had been the most controversial Prime Minister of Malaysia for 22 years, leading the country to some of its best achievements and worst crisis in key institutions of state, has fully realized the important and constructive role of the Opposition in the development of a viable and vibrant system of parliamentary democracy.
Is Abdullah prepared to agree with Mahathir and openly acknowledge the important role of the Opposition in the building of a healthy Malaysian democratic system, that it will be a disaster if there is no Opposition in Malaysia, and rein in the Umno “ultras” who have been talking about a zero-opposition in their states, with one Mentri Besar even claiming that he will not listen to the views of any DAP Assemblymen if they are elected!
Abdullah should educate all national and state leaders on the most rudimentary lessons in democracy. Lesson One – that without an Opposition, there can be no meaningful democracy. Lesson Two – Opposition leaders are even more patriotic than those in government, as they are prepared to risk their personal liberty and comfort to stand up for the rights of the people and the long-term interests of the nation, which could land them in detention.
When Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi took over the reins of government as the fifth Prime Minister, he had promised to be different and better than the Mahathir premiership.
I call on Abdullah to ensure that in the last 36 hours of the general election campaign, he will go out of his way to ensure that the 12th general election will be completely different from the previous nine general elections in being “May 13-free”, where the threat and spectre of May 13 if Opposition candidates are elected is not allowed to rear its ugly head to mar the election campaign.
Is Abdullah prepared to respond to this challenge to demonstrate that in 2008, Malaysian general elections are once-and-forever liberated from the spectre of May 13 threats, which is completely baseless as a denial of BN two-thirds parliamentary majority can only come about if there is strong representation of Malay, Chinese, Indian and even Kadazan-Dusun-Murut Opposition MPs.
A “May 13-free” election campaign will be a redeeming feature of the 12th general election, which has been further stained by the last-minute somersault of the Election Commission over the indelible ink issue – with the indelible ink fiasco becoming the indelible shame of the Election Commission.

Trust me YB, Mahathir clearly understands the important and constructive role of the Opposition in the development of a viable and vibrant system of parliamentary democracy. That’s the reason he tried to suppress it in the first place.

Without the indelible ink in place, buses load of voters will be busy at work to bring the opposition strong men down.

I am into my 8th general elections and I see that BN strategy, if you can call it that, is the same. Its archaic – development, new roads, clean drains, defend ‘your’ rights, what can DAP do, etc.
The deny the opposition any space on TV and newspapers, not even the right of reply to allegations by BN.
No, they will never grow up unless they end up as Opposition one day.

I really hope we the opposition can do it although the government cheat in the elections.
We have to leave on. I still think if 10 votes for opposition and 1 for BN will do the trick although phantom voters are at large.
So don’t waste your vote or have the mindset, aiyah one vote to the opposition also won’t win one…. Never!!! Every votes count and we Malaysians are counting on you all regardless Malay, Chinese or Indians for a better Malaysia.

I have read of microchips being used in petrols and spray paints for identification purposes. They are so minute which cannot be seen with the naked eyes. The cancellation of the indelible ink will open the doors for the already pre-planned scams and the use of phantom voters. Perhaps DAP and PKR can propose the use of ink with these microchips to prevent fraud in the next GE.However on this election the opposition camp will have to keep both their eyes open to prevent the phantom voters to cast a vote.

YB Lim, I hope you will take extra care and pep up your security. On mon 3 Mar08 night, Anwar Ibrahim’s young dedicated photographer, Salman Nasaruddin, under rather strange circumstances was hit by a still to be identified car near his home in PJ. He died in hospital the following morning.
Again last night, William Leong’s driver – Mohd Hauri bin Kadim on his motorbike was hit on his way home after a late night ceramah. He now lies in critical condition in hospital. William Leong is PKR MP-designate for Selayang has requests that we pray for his speedy recover.
Such heinous criminal acts, I hope the police will thoroughly investigate and arrest those “mafia†groups, than to go around breaking up election campaigns and struggling with pregnant woman speakers, caught on video!
Campaigning and ceramahs are rights of the candidates and political parties within the SPR bylaws and I don’t think it is a threat to nation’s security? Go for those bastards that are having a gala time murdering innocent individuals! That’s what Police are paid for, to prevent crime.

To deal with arrogant politician, one must be as arrogant or more arrogant than him/her to make change.
Any ” criminal ” that threaten May13 to win votes should not hold a public office of trust, influence and power…..same goes with any leader who does not express their outrage and distance themselves from this dangerous behaviour.

Majority Rule and Minority Rights
All democracies are systems in which citizens freely make political decisions by majority rule. But rule by the majority is not necessarily democratic: No one, for example, would call a system fair or just that permitted 51 percent of the population to oppress the remaining 49 percent in the name of the majority. In a democratic society, majority rule must be coupled with guarantees of individual human rights that, in turn, serve to protect the rights of minorities–whether ethnic, religious, or political, or simply the losers in the debate over a piece of controversial legislation. The rights of minorities do not depend upon the goodwill of the majority and cannot be eliminated by majority vote. The rights of minorities are protected because democratic laws and institutions protect the rights of all citizens.
VOTE DAP to protect our rights.

The police needs to be overhaul!
The ACA needs to be overhaul!
The Judiciary system needs to be overhaul!
The SPR needs to be overhaul!
And even the PM needs to be overhaul!
Most important is that every elected PM or ministers should be limited to a 5 years term.
Bargaining is strictly prohibited!
Vote for the opposition, if you agree!!!

I am so angry – with BN.
A few of my friends who have been working as vote-counters for the last election just shared with me some info:-
They were given a briefing before the actual day. During the briefing, they were told that any BN votes whereby the ‘X’ didn’t fit in the box nicely MUST be counted as a vote. However those with even a dot outside the box where the voter cast for the Opposition must immediately be treated as Undi Rosak.
So appalling. I can’t believe this is Malaysia. So much for being a fair country!!!
I really pray from the bottom of my heart that DAP scores big this round despite the double standard. BN is such a coward for not having the courage to face the REAL voice of the nation. They’d prefer to play dirty tricks and pretend that they were given the mandate by the people… when in actual they had to BUY the votes.
Stupid bunch of BN clowns. So uncivilised.

Opposition parties lost so many times since May 13, 1969 but no riot and no “May 13.” But if UMNO lost, there will be May 13 and riots? Does that mean UMNO is the one who will cause this riot?
PAS lost so many times but no riot. Look at what Niz Aziz said at Malaysiakini.tv if PAS lost Kelantan. So different than UMNO.

KLANG, March 6 (Bernama) — State constituencies which fall to the opposition in Selangor in Saturday”s election will face development problems as their elected representatives are not included in the state”s pre-council meetings, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo said. He said the three-day annual pre-council meeting was an important event as it was where assemblymen and state government officers, including from local governments and the land and district officers sat with the Menteri Besar to discuss problems and development of their respective constituencies. Mohamad Khir said opposition elected representatives were involved only in state legislative assembly meetings, which was not the arena to raise issues on infrastructure and public uilities. “Selangor does not discuss infrastructure or about potholes in the Assembly, but matters of more importance like the state goverment policies,” he said at a dinner organised by the Klang Chinese Tourism Association to introduce the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Sungai Pinang, Datuk Song Kee Chai, here last night. Mohamad Khir said he was sad with the condition in Sungai Pinang, which was lacking in development since the constituency came under the opposition. As such, he said, it was crucial for Sungai Pinang to have an elected representative from the BN for the constituency to also benefit from development projects carried out by the government. — BERNAMA

This is sickening, does it mean BN (only) = Government = Malaysia? Anything non BN then it’s not Malaysian?
Whether the constituency comes under BN/DAP/PAS/PKR or whatever party, the elected government must still SERVE the RAKYAT!!! I’m really so sick of all these gibberish. SO SICK!!!!!!!! Jong, if what you said is true, the opposition candidates and workers certainly have to be more vigilant and careful. I hope after the election, and when the results are announced, opposition candidates who win the election as well as their supporters will not be too jubilant in their celebration. Just be somber, knowing that you have the heavy responsibility ahead. I just don’t want any excuses for sore losers to start trouble. Tun Mahathir’s recent and past comments have to be read between the line. Being the former PM, his comments has meanings to explicitly sound out to BN that it’s time to say and sing the Opposition song of Enough Is Enough as well as to echo his displeasure at UMNO. He indirectly has advocated Malaysia needs the change so clearly and dearly mentioned in the DAP theme song, JUST CHANGE.
His critics are definitely minced with sentiments for the party he so loves but also for those holding power in UMNO. It is a balancing two-tongue fork game for all that was spoken by him. On the one hand, he cannot be seen supporting the Opposition for the change Malaysia or rather Malaysians so dearly needed and the other hand he has still the deep love for UMNO.
It is ironic that the BN leaders could still not take heed of such jibes and remain arrogant and defiant till now of his stinging remarks.
When he made reference to the draconian ISA, he had also directed it towards the entire Malaysian Rakyat to wake up and throw out the ISA if it does not serve its purpose. By such remarks, it was also meant to tell the Malaysian Rakyat that it’s time up for his successor to be thrown out if he has over-stayed.
By explicitly saying that Najib should have been his choice as his successor again point to this fact of his dislike for Bodohwi. There is this expressed desire to ensure the baton be handled by another person. Needless to say, whoever takes as the next PM would not make any difference. It’s merely an eye-wash to the Malaysian public.
Right or wrong by saying so, Tun Mahathir’s message has to be taken from a deeper perspective or Malaysia will be doomed further to be overtaken by our neighbours within the Asean region.
All voters, please wear your goggles and ensure to do the right thing in your precious voting slips. All of us must have the clear conscious mind to discern any negative propaganda that may be hurled onto you for choosing the Opposition team this 8th March 2008. Let’s take this Tun’s inspiration to inspire the many minds of all to effective manage our future destiny.

YB Lim: I attended your ceramah yesterday at Hin Hua Sec School in Klang which was overwhelmed by the crowd, somethings not seen in the BN component party. I heard your voice which was affected by so many speeches and I am very very touched by the commitment you has demonstrated all these difficult years in struggle to fight for equality of all races and for democratic process. True, from what you said, not all MCA members are corrupted. But they just remained silent when it comes to time for them to speak out and speak against, and that is a BIG problem. Being a politician, one should be able to stand up against injustice and corruption, like the great Reformer, Martin Luther said, ‘here I stand’. When one of them speaks out, and he’s removed. The political atmosphere is totally not right.
Today, the frontline of Sin Chew showed a couple being attended by the police after their complaint to the PM. My question is really, why do you have to wait until now to draw your attention to people’s problem. These should be the PM’s normal practice and not just because you want to win this election that you show it. That is not the TRUE COLOUR. It is tantamount to a SHOW.
I bought a house in Klang three years ago, and for the need of my family, we did an extension at the back. We followed the law and paid around RM 2000 for the plan and approval in the proper procedure. When I read from the paper that Mr Z built his ‘palace’ without approval for millions of dollar and eventually he is fined for only one thousand plus for the plan and approval, my heart is really boiling. Where is the justice? A politician did an illegal construction and was fined a thousand, while an ordinary citizen obeying the law was charged two thousand for his honest heart. Within me, I can’t tolerate such a injustice act of the present government. Mr Z should be put to prison for what he did because corruption is the gravest crimes in politics. But PM didn’t do anything, and I suppose he will not. Where is his ‘Mr Clean’ image? It is shattered, and Malay will be without its bright future, if such kind of corruption is not checked.

There are many readers here who are so eager to see the downfall of BN. So do I. But the sad reality is, we may not get what we want when the results are announced on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
There is this streak of cowardice among Chinese Malaysians that worries me. There will forgo all principles and vote for a BN dog so as not to rock the proverbial boat.
In Penang I am afraid, Gerakan which is going for battle with a D in its report card might still come out victorious. This is what I don’t understand about the Penang Chinese. I hope they have grown up and out of this fear syndrome. I don’t understand why they just dump Gerkan into the Melaka Straits and pick DAP.
Ceramah attendance is not an indicator of victory. Despite all the odds I hope DAP forms the next Penang state government.

WHERE IS OUR FUTURE?
Many articles have been written in this and other blogs on the case of denying BN the 2/3 majority. Many posters here too have
expounded the many compelling reasons to do so. But is this a
scenario we are likely to see after the 12th GE on 8/3/08??
All of us know that the winning majority of many BN candidates in
the last GE were large. Only an exceptional few had small winning
majority. On the other hand most of the 19 opposition candidates
who won in 2004 had a small majority.
The question now is ‘what proportion of voters who had returned the BN candidate in 2004 would be likely to vote for opposition in 2008?’ What magnitude of percentage swing to the opposition would be required to overcome these many cases of large majority? In the history of Malaysian elections, were there instances of a swing of votes to the opposition to the order of 10% to 20%?. The answer is ‘yes’ but only in isolated cases but never across the entire country.
This then begs some analysis and projections on what the scenario
would be in a certain given percentage swing to opposition. It would be difficult to assume and set a percentage swing across the board because the racial make-up of constituencies differ markedly but it might help to categories Peninsula constituencies into 3 groups namely (a) urban (b) mixed (c) rural/UMNO-BN heartland and within each we can make assumptions on the likely percentage swing in each of the Malay, Chinese, Indian and Others communities.
Using electorate data (constituency size, racial composition, majority in 2004) from this website http://www.undi.info I have
tried to project under 3 scenarios – conservative case, medium case and optimistic case for opposition in Peninsula Malaysia. In each scenario I have made some assumptions on the percentage of voters within each community, who having voted for BN in 2004, but now are swinging their votes to opposition in 2008. It is also assumed there will be 70% voter turnout and that every current opposition constituency returns an opposition candidate in 2008.
(The figures below represent the percentage of voters in each
community, who in 2004 voted for BN but are voting for opposition in 2008. Read the figures using the ‘/’ as separators)
Conservative case
Constituency-type/%Malays/%Chinese/%Indian/%Others
Urban/15/20/20/20
Mixed/6/10/10/10
Rural/2/2/2/2
Projected result: Opposition picking up only these extra seats DAP(3) PKR(1) PAS(1). Total number of opposition MPs in Parliament is 24 i.e current 19 (assumed retained) plus 5.
Medium case
Constituency-type/%Malays/%Chinese/%Indian/%Others
Urban/20/25/25/25 (Note the % swing is quite high)
Mixed/8/12/12/12
Rural/4/4/4/4
Projected result: Opposition picking up only these extra seats DAP(3) PKR(1) PAS(2). Total number of opposition MPs in Parliament is 25.
Optimistic case
Constituency-type/%Malays/%Chinese/%Indian/%Others
Urban/30/40/40/40 (Wow!! ever seen these high % swing?)
Mixed/10/15/15/15
Rural/6/8/8/8
Projected result: Opposition picking up only these extra seats DAP(6) PKR(1) PAS(2). Total number of opposition MPs from Peninsula Malaysia in Parliament is 28.
Even in an optimistic forecast for Sabah/Sarawak from which the
opposition are to hopefully pick up an extra 15 seats, this would only put 46 opposition MPs in Parliament. (28 + 15 + 3)
Quite a grim propect you would say.
However, you would have spotted that in these projections only
numbers are used to determine the projected results and that no
consideration have been given to the ‘personality’ of candidates,
the plethora of issues facing the electorate of different constituencies and most of all the factor of the ever growing groundswell of dissatifaction among ordinary Malaysians with BN. If there were to be a cumulative effect of all these, it might well be some sort of a TSUNAMI swing of voters towards the opposition.
It would take nothing short of a worryingly hard and an earth shattering earthquake to achieve a TSUNAMI case as follows for there to be any semblance of near 1/3 opposition representation in Parliament.
TSUNAMI case
Constituency-type/%Malays/%Chinese/%Indian/%Others
Urban/50/60/60/60
Mixed/30/40/40/40
Rural/20/20/20/20
Projected result: Opposition picking up these extra seats DAP(17)
PKR(4) PAS(13). Total number of opposition MPs in Parliament is 53.
It would then require Sabah/Sarawak to return at least 20 extra opposition MPs out of a total of 56 seats in East malaysia to deny BN 2/3 majority. (53 + 20 + 3)
It would indeed have to be an historic election in which an unprecedentedly high percentage swing of voters (well exceeding 60%) have to vote for the opposition to break the BN/UMNO hegemony of political power.
We can no longer be tempted by the enticements of short term gains and fall for the same lies of past BN promises. We can no longer expect someone else to vote in the opposition for us. Each of us must do it for ourselves for the sake of our future generations. We have this and this election only to stem the BN/UMNO tide for if they are to continue retaining the 2/3 majority despite being in an apparent tight corner now, alas, there will not be any more room to voice out our grievances let alone stage a fight for justice and equality in the future.

I got the news that polling via mail is allowed. I was wondering, if this is allowed to be applied to the country’s army personnel, would it not apply to Malaysians living overseas. Is polling via mail legal?
It utterly saddens those who had to move overseas to continue to grieve over the country’s economic, political and social condition. It is even more upsetting to see those who wants to leave to have a better future but who are not as fortunate to do so. I doubt it will be this generation probably many generations later when pp will one day realize and sincerely ask themselves what they want not just for them but for their future generations so to truly voice out their wants (through the polls) instead of acting in accordance to the influence of the dominants so that their desire and rights to have a better life regardless of race is returned to the people of Malaysia.
Dear Dr. Lim, I sincerely thank you for spending your life time trying to voice out for the people so that everyone has the right to a better life and I pray you will continue to win in this election. God Bless.

As according the current situation, BN might still win big because of all the dirty tricks that it indulges in. But somehow, we who stand along with the truth speakers must defend the truth truthfully. No doubt!
Don’t hesitate in choosing DAP, Keadilan or Pas, which some of you might not fancy any one of them. Chinese could pick PAS or keadilan whichever applicable and Malay and Indian please be assured that you could pick DAP safe. Your rights would not be denied if DAP win.
These three parties are the true hero of the TRUTH! Not those BN-liars.

“You know the government member (of parliament), sometimes they are ‘ahli bodek’ (apple polishers). They are always saying ‘you’re right’, and you have no means of assessing whether you are going in the right direction or not.†Mahathir
He can say that now he’s out of the government. In government he’s so autocratic in his ways that nobody would dare disagree with him. The tin-pot dictator – a description favored by the U.S. Department of State – surrounded himself with a group of “Yes” men who told him what he wanted to hear. It was not surprising that he suffered from that disconnect between himself and reality. But some credit must go to him because he realised on occassions that when he needed the information he was not getting it. Consequently he made some bad decisions. Surely you don’t expect him to make public admissions of these! I am sure he expressed his misgivings to his inner circle.
This is as close as you could get to hear him admitting that a leader cannot always be right and that a person in a leadership position would need to have people who disagree with him when they should.

ALtPJK, I’m not a political analyst, but a DAP supporter – Your projection can be true – however, we shouldn’t see PKR as weak.
Seeing the recent MCA/MIC’s subtle scare to the Chinese/Indian voters that they have been working quietly & without them Chinese/Indians will be in trouble, I forsee the Chinese/Indians will not swing that much towards DAP – just a little. DAP may gain (we hope) 5-10 extra seats in Parliment.
But I see the Chinese & Indians wants to get even with UMNO & not against any Chinese-based parties. I believe they will lash out against Pemuda UMNO this election & for the Malay areas where the non-Malays are large 30-40%, where BN(UMNO) vs PKR, they will all cast for PKR. Why of course they will chose a ‘Justice’ party rather than a Keris-waving, Ketuanan Melayu party. With areas where the Malay votes split, the chances of PKR winning is very high. Setiawangsa is a good example.
So just watch out, I project PKR will win big this GE – they are contesting 100+ seats. Watch out – they may even win bigger than DAP & may form the opposition head. Then Anwar may come back. But we will never know until 48hrs from now…
Good luck DAP, good luck opposition. We have to teach BN generally & UMNO Youth specifically a good lesson.!

What would your reply be?
01. I am a Malaysian Chinese.
02. I am a Malay.
03. I am a Malaysian Indian
04. I am a Malaysian Kadazan
05. I am a Malaysian … so on and so forth.
Why didnt you reply I am a Malaysian or Bangsa Malaysia?
It is because the government of the day and the the government of before have divided us all, Malaysians, so they may plunder the riches of our beloved country Malaysia like the colonial British did. WHO ARE THE PLUNDERERS AND RAPISTS OF OUR BELOVED COUNTRY MALAYSIA? BARISAN NASIONAL OR MAY I SAY BARISAN NARAKA. MAYBE I SHOULD UMNO, YES, UMNO!!!
Last but not least the government of the day and before decided that racist card is not enough and decided to split Malaysian along religious lines.
We have eyes yet we did not see. We have ears but we did not hear. There was light yet we live in darkness. But now we see, we hear and realized where once there was darkness there was actually light.
ONCE WE WERE Malay, Chinese, Indians, Sikhs, Kadazans, … WE REALIZE WE ARE ALL MALAYSIANS AFTER ALL.
PLEASE VOTE, VOTE WISELY, VOTE OPPOSITION. VOTE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF MALAYSIANS NOT MALAYS, CHINESE, INDIANS, SIKHS, KADAZANS, … BUT MALAYSIANS. MALAYSIA IS FOR MALAYSIANS !!!

NEWSFLASH: Penang rally draws 30,000
George Town, March 6, 9 pm — The Democratic Action Party rally in Penang — which is going on right now — has drawn more than 30,000 people, by conservative estimates.
Police sources had earlier told The Malaysian Insider that a crowd of “easily 15,000” could be expected tonight at the Han Chiang school field here, the second-last night ceramahs can be held before Saturday’s polling. However, the crowds in Penang have just kept swelling in numbers, leaving even a veteran political observer to describe it as “amazing”.
There are frequent cries of “Just change it” in Hokkien.
The crowd is mainly Chinese, a mixed bag of young and old, with pockets of Malays and Indians. About a quarter of them are wearing red, as called upon by DAP party leaders to show its strength in numbers.
The speakers are DAP leaders Lim Kit Siang, his son and secretary-general of the party Lim Guan Eng and party veteran Karpal Singh. PKR’s only representative in Parliament until it was dissolved for these polls, Wan Azizah, the wife of Anwar Ibrahim, is also scheduled to speak. Anwar, who was in Singapore yesterday and believed to be in Kuala Lumpur tonight, is not able to make it for the rally.
There are 3 giant video screens, lending the air of a rock concert to the night, with a giant moving crane for the cameraman feeding the picture to the screens.
Pictures of the rally are expected to be posted on The Malaysian Insider late tonight.

Excellent write-up for net-savvy supporters of BR. TDM’s views certainly is a boost to the opposition and to the rakyat, and I think this was an honest opinion after him having seen the direction BN has taken in the past 4 years.
Tomorrow is D-Day, and hopefully at least 35% of all rakyats vote for opposition for parliament seats and more for state seats.
Let BN know that we, the rakyat, are now more politically conscious. Regarding Anwar, too many adverse comments from the BN. Give Anwar a chance! He has changed, hopefully.
If we, the rakyat, make a mistake tomorrow, then it is only for 5 years! We made a mistake for 50 years!

Hello Voice,
Your formula is ok.
What about
BN = BN + MCA + MIC + Gerakan = BN = 0
BN = Barang Naik
MCA = Mana Chandra Ayam?
MIC = Manaboleh Insult Chandra
Gerakan = Gila elak rakan

Last night (6-3-08), at Han Chiang, Penang, a record crowd of 50,000 plus came to witness the Biggie. Such huge crowd that it spilled to the roadside outside the fencing perimeter of the school field!
This time, DAP has the camaderia spirit to hold it outdoor – in the field completed with several projector screens so everyone can witness the happenings & listen to the speeches.
One great thing happened this ceramah. Have you heard the roars of a tiger? It’s really scary! But these roars at Han Chiang are thunderous! These roars of more than 50,000 plus will send the most evil of evils to the depths of hell!
Uncle Lim called it “The ROARRRRZZ of the People of Penang!”
These are genuine roars of Chinese, Indians and Malays for the BN scrooges to take note, sit up and listen, in particular Pak Lah who has 2 big ears ( or 4 counting his SIL’s?). These are roars that things must CHANGE NOW.
One more great thing – the crowd supported DAP with an estimated RM120,000 collected that night. This is much needed fuel for DAP! Even in hard times, Penangites know how to use their money productively, effectively, passionately!
Let this be a revelation to Pak Lah, Penangites mean business of fair, clean and justice politics.
Come 8-3-08, we will VOTE with conviction. JUST CHANGE IT.

“The Barisan Nasional leadership had launched the general election campaign with a very cocky and arrogant start, with the Selangor, Malacca and Johore Barisan Nasional leaders declaring that they want to make their states “zero-opposition†states to recent panicky signs in certain BN quarters at the strong and powerful wind of change blowing in the land – causing Barisan Nasional propagandists to resort to the dirty politics of fear, intimidation and blackbail as making May 13 threats.”
What the Yang Dipertuan Agong is going to say about this? Agong must say something about this May 13 threats by BN. Agong must tell UMNO don’t play with fire as we will find every murderers and bring them to face justice by any means necessarry. There are very extreme Chinese as well you know.

Whilst Dap ceramahs throughout Malaysia are really a hit with large turnouts, we hope that goes the same for PKR and PAS ceramahs as well.Mind you like what YB Kit says “It is a tall order just to deny BN two thirds majority this coming Saturday.”.One needs to be reminded the results of 2004 GE.
(1) UMNO with 35.9% popular votes got 110 parlimentary seats enough to form government with a simple majority!
(2)Opposition with 36.2% popular votes got only 20 parlimentary seats.
Just take a look at the huge discrepency.UMNO in spite of having less popular votes can get to form a government whereas opposition having more popular votes can only obtain a miserable 20 parlimentary seats (total parlimentary seats then is 219, now 222).Why? It is not postal votes and it is not phantom votes. It is MAhathir’s work.Don’t take what he says today cos what he says today is his attempt to strike at Abdullah. He is no angel!
However we must have hope and again like what YB says it is achievable to deny them a two thirds majority win.Come on let’s suck it to them.Just keep influencing as many people (people surronding you) as possible to do likewise and we’ll will begin to see some light at the end of a tunnel!

WELL OVER 50,000 PEOPLE AND OVER RM120,000 COLLECTED
What can I say except to pray that these will all convert into votes for CHANGE.
Fireworks were let off, but I heard that it is not from DAP but some undesirable elements trying to distrupt the speeches. Police trying to write summons for cars and motorcycle parking on the roadside but were boo off.
Dear Malaysian,
Thousands of people are attending ceramahs by the Oppositions everyday. What I fear and also YB Kit in his speech remind us 13 years ago when the situation was the same but DAP fall flat when the result were announced.
So we have to keep on pushing and ensure that all our friends and relatives are with us for change right up to the last minute. For if we let this golden opportunity slip by us there can never be another opportunity like this and we will forever be 2nd and 3th class citizen of our own country.

“////Why? It is not postal votes and it is not phantom votes. It is Mahathir’s work. Don’t take what he says today cos what he says today is his attempt to strike at Abdullah. He is no angel!///†– AhPek
Correct, correct, correct! Looks like an angel, sounds like an angel but……..
It is not just to strike at Abdullah : it is in part to make us forget that it was his work! He does not want his legacy to be adjudged too harshly.
In telling Malaysians not to vote for incompetent or corrupt candidates fielded by BN – and I am sure there will be many of such characters that will be fielded by it – he fans the flames of hope amongst BN’s detractors – and with that forgottence of his past misdeeds – that BN will not do that well this coming election when, and if, the BN’s traditional voters, especially the rural malay vote bank, heed his sagacious advice as elder “UMNO/BN statesman†to vote against the BN in such cases, in service of the Opposition’s cause.
First of all this is not going to happen. I don’t think that there will be that much of a vote swing in this sector of BN’s traditional voters and supporters.
Second, to him, the government needs a viable opposition only if it were not his government.
Yet many people are now so angry with the ruling coalition that they’re willing to consider Mahathir an ally (in fact even to the extent that even the Devil himself if he were opposed to the BN can also be considered an angel) and redeem his record.
He took us for a ride when he was in power and ironically could still do so after!

FAQs for 12th GE
Q1: What would happen IF no Chinese ministers in the cabinet?
A1: From past historical records saying that Chinese basic rights were eroded even with MCA ministers in the cabinet. MCA and Gerakan are toothless parties, they are no more relevant to the Chinese community. In the nutshell, with or without MCA/Gerakan ministers in the Cabinet make no different to Malaysian Chinese dilemma.
Q2: Why SPR withdrew indelible ink procedure in last minute?
A2: To let BN releases their phantom voters on 8 March 2008.
Q3: Why more personal attacks on Anwar Ibrahim in recent days?
A3: BN is started worrying that Anwar may change the political landscape if urban Malays decide to revolt against UMNO. In addition, Chinese and Indian voters are very upset with Abdullah unfulfilled promises made in past GE besides other bread and butter issues.
BN cannot attack Anwar’s popular poverty based-NEP, the next best option is launching a character assault against him.
Q4: Foreign investors want a 2/3 majority, but corrupted judiciary system and government?
A4: Indian government with slightly more than 50% seats in parliament does not drive away investors. Clean, effective and fair government is more important for foreign investors.

Only opposition parties need to “fight for this” and “fight for that” in parliament, definitely not MCA as a component party to the ruling BN! And we can see election posters in Cheras telling the Chinese it will be easier for MCA to “fight for this and that” within Parliament. This is utter nonsense and unless MCA thinks it is an “opposition” party in the ruling BN, such propaganda only makes the Chinese laugh! If at all MCA thinks it is so clever in “fighting” for such rights, then it should perhaps consider joining the opposition and not remain a “revolting parasite” within BN!!!!!
#117 by lakshy on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 7:39 am
Same here. A friend who is an Umno member and is a contractor for government tenders said the same thing. He is voting for DAP and PKR in his area. Not voting for BN.
Practically everyone you speak to says the same thing. BN must be afraid. So expect massive vote rigging.
So please please call all your friends and family to make it a point to go and vote and be careful not to spoil your vote. Offer to drive them to their polling centres. The higher the voter turnout, the less chance and effect of undi hantu!
The ballot slip must have the franking/embossed/punched sign. If it does not have it, it is considered as undi rosak. So when you get your ballots, make sure they have been franked/embossed/punched. And when you vote, mark an X clearly for whom you want elected to represent you. Do not write or mark anything anywhere else on the ballot paper.
Many people still mark with a Tick or circle etc. BN may try to declare such votes as invalid. So tell as many people as you can, how to vote. In the BN training given to the polling agents, theya re told to accept only a cross mark ‘X’.
In some villages, BN agents have gone and told the senior citizens to mark a cross on the space for the candidate that they do not want elected. So beware all these dirty tricks. Tell your parents and uncles and aunts how to vote properly and mark within the box and nowhere else. Make sure every vote counts.
Dont end up queueing and wasting your valuable vote. Dont waste your democratic right!

“The PM is going to address the nation tonight from his house in Kepala Batas, so say front page The Star. No big deal in normal circumstances but coming on the eve of Election day, it shows to me the extent of BN’s disrespect of the electoral process. Lim Kit Siang was reported to have filed a suit on the powers of the caretaker government but I supposed it has been buried with our judiciary’s independence.
The threat of denying the Malaysian Chinese voice in the government is given prominence. Any thinking Malaysian will ask : What has the Malaysian Chinese voice in our government been doing since the 2004 landslide victory? If they have done their part to voice out against injustices, corrupt practices, cronyism and the whole litany of ills, BN will not feel so insecure as to have resort to threats. Instead they have shown themselves to be impotent and are just the errand boys of UMNO. Granted what we have seen of the Malaysian Chinese representation in the government over the years, I believe it is time to go into uncharted territory. Even if it means UMNO will carry out its threat.
I really wonder why is BN pulling out all the stops. All the independent political analysts I have read say in no way will BN lose that 2/3 majority. So why resort to all the dirty tricks?”

Yes, one of the most common dirty tricks to mislead uninformed voters:
Some voters were told, if you don’t like BN candidates, put an X against their name/logo!!
And, if you like to vote for DAP, PKR, or PAS, put a tick against their name/logo!!
These are ways to increase the number of votes for BN and to increase spoilt votes for the opposition!
Beware!
Please educate your relatives, friends, etc: don’t be afraid to put only an X against DAP, PKR, or PAS; put it inside the box and do not write anything outside the box

To all civil servants:
Don’t be afraid to VOTE FOR DAP, PKR, or PAS! Your loyalty is to the country, not the government.
You will continue to get your promotion and bonus.
If you are really, really scared to vote for the opposition because of imaginery punishment, then please do not vote at all. Please do not vote for BN just because you are scared that you will be punished by BN if you don’t do so. In fact, almost all of us are already being punished by BN because of their lousy governance and unfair practices.

During this campaign period, almost everyday, Liar Lah and his gang of BN cheats invariably attack Anwar. They even got their dogs (e.g., Chandra M and others) to join in the attack.

Please take note that we are talking about all Malaysian today and our own country future.
There are no issue about races or status except those that raised by UMNO/MCA/MIC.
We all know that this 12thGE will be ‘rigged’ AGAIN by BN.
The government servant will have to vote for BN because their entire livinghood depends on them. Most government servants have enjoyed good live and easy job scope with ‘wealth’ opportunities to keep their life style going. They also cometo terms with reality that should there are changes in the government, they will tends to lose more and have to really work to earn their livinghood.
I have spoken to a few younger friends working with the government and they have voiced out their personal opinion about the kind of benefits and priviledges that they enjoy now are too good to let go. Easy job and status with incentives.
That’s why government rather keep the entire 1.2 millions workers under their wings to be Malays majority as they knew the advantage from it.
Ask the Police force, even those below rank also have to think twice about their future as their officer have been giving briefing about who is government and why they rather ‘work’ with this government.
Overall, the dark force have been ruling this country. Those that ‘supposedly’ to keep things white and clean have given up their duties and seek for comfortable zones to live.
I was once told that many high ranking officer wives in the civil servants and police force are being specially ‘taken care’ by ELITE group ‘butlers’ so that their husband will continue to follow orders.
Spouses are important unit in the family and normally these high rank officers have to ‘give in’ due to temptations and life style ego.
I believe that monies were created by mankind as a form of trading tools for needs and fairness.
Over time, we reinvent this tools to create rich and powerful.
Now, after all these revolutions, monies become our master because we have become lazy to excel humanly.
Malaysian, do not give up even though this 12thGE result (which been rigged) were ‘given’ to BN.
We all knew that we will win this race afterall.
UMNO/MCA/MIC will run away in 2010 as the economy bubble will burst and they all know that there will be no more wealth left to ‘siphone’ and a lot of works needed to be render to revive this country future.
Please do not give up on Malaysian Malaysia hope. We cannot beat them now because of what they are using to keep ‘rigging’ wealth.
As soon as AFTA set in and wealth are very little left, they will stop and run away.
We, truly Malaysian will stand tall to rebuild this country again as our foreparents did.
We, truly Malaysian will put Malaysia back on track again after 2010.
We will never quit.

If you want a silent and toothless parliament and state legislative assembly, then vote for BN candidates. They are all brain-dead ‘eh gao’ (or mute in Hokkien) and like a group of animals being pulled along by their noses and whipped to submission by the BN whip!

• Your children to have a future – Discrimination in scholarship and university admission.
• A place where life is good, peaceful and stable? – What about body snatching, racial tension, little Mullah Napoleons?
The BN advertisement is Astro TV and Radio is “tin kosong.†MCA advertisement in the STAR is so ludicrous that’s it comical. AAB’s comment that various races must be represented in the BN is just another rubbish – 4 years, where and when had the races been represented equally?
Tomorrow – “D†day. DAP must win.

Some friends told me that if BN wins this time, they will also win the next GE since as caretaker government, they have the advantage of resources. SO it is a lie when Najob tless voters to give them 4 more years! Its actually 8 years he is asking!
On the eve of Election Day, take a moment to reflect if we had a good, clean and accountable government to begin with. We are where we are now because our government is corrupted to the core. If we let BN win again, our children and their children will suffer because of the bad decisions of their forefathers.

Barisan Nasional Is Insulting Agong
BN ads in TVs/internet have clearly insulting Yang Di-pertuan Agong by saying vote BN is equal to vote for Malaysia.
Malaysia is a nation owned by all “rakyats” regardless of their political affiliation under the Agong. No political party in Malaysia can claim they are representing Malaysia under whatever circumstances except the Agong and cabinet appointed by Agong.
BN is just a political party, they have no right to claim they are representing Malaysia. Malaysia is not a communist country like China with absolute power is given to communist party to rule China.
Vote a party like BN is not equal to vote for Malaysia. GE is not a voting for Agong, but a cabinet works for Agong and rakyats.
BN is challenging and insulting the legal status of Agong as a head of Malaysia.

theStar (7.3.08): Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi reminded the Chinese community that if they gave the DAP their votes, they will end up not having any representation in the Government.
AAB kept eating his own words and forgetting what he told us all: ‘I’m the PM for all Malaysians.’ So, he should look after all Malaysians (from white to black), with or without MCA, MIC, Gerakan in the BN government, and with DAP. PKR, and PAS in the parliament.
If fact, with DAP, PKR, and PAS in the parliament, AAB will hear diverse voices (rather than silence from MCA, MIC, Gerakan MPs) and these voices will guide AAB to be really the PM for all Malaysians!

NST headlines today. PM says no MCA/MIC, no voice for these races in government.
Is this the kind of PM we want. Was he even thinking about the country? Obviously not. If they were sincere in the first place, the coalition need not be classified by race based parties. Why can’t BN be called just that…BN without UMNO, MCA, MIC etc. Just proves that the BN party is a racists party.
Secondly, does MCA/MIC actually represent the Chinese and Indians respectively. NO, rather they sold them out. What difference does it make if we have MCA/MIC in the racists government. Better have no voice than a voice of a traitor!!!

MCA forever shout to the chinese community for what their wakil rakyat have done in the various local community.Actually take for example Chew Mei Fun,why should an MP like her should waste time in looking after blogged drains, street lighting, poor road conditions, lack of public amenities in PJ Utara?Aren’t these are the jobs and duties of local councillors and the MBPJ staff?Where are these people? When we lodge a complaint regarding any of the above to MBPJ,they do not bother. But they will probably act upon the complaint when it is first refered to the attention of CMF and let her pressure the former.Only then the MBPJ would do something.Isn’t it indirectly helping CMF to score political mileage. However the MBPJ residents like in any other local municipality areas pay assessment rates.Don’t they deserve the services that the local council is deemed responsible to provide. So isn’t it stupid and redundant for a wakil rakyat to do the work of a local councillor or a local council staff. No wonder the MBPJ staff are inert and passive.

Tricks works for general mass who have short term memory, who live with fear to change, or for some worst off who choose to betray their conscience in exchange for power & wealth.
I believe Malaysians generally have grown up, BN thought the Rakyat are still a bunch of fool, and so the tricks of occupying all possible public channels to produce & air fears, subtle threats, entice the Rakyat with imaginery sweets.
But real national growth and prosperity will be far fetch if we do not clean up power corruption and money politics through this election……the conclusion is to vote Opposition, and for simple reason of our love for Malaysia.

It’s only less than 24 hours before we cast our votes for GE12. The BN has started their repeated old tactics by scaring the Chinese community of the potential fear losing our representative voice in government.
Be sure that you don’t fall into this trap and see that your vote goes to Opposition because there is NO DIFFERENCE whether we have MCA, Gerakan or MIC in the government or not. They will only show their face as the champion of our cause but in actual fact manipulating those issue for political mileage.
Have you ever heard that a Buddhist Temple can only be built according various restrictions namely : 1. No Buddha statue allowed on the external wall of the Temple. 2. No religious activities allowed to be carried within the premise. and so on…… What an insulting act ! Mind u, OKT, OKC and KSK have claimed to be staunch Buddhist. But where are they all this while as this application first started about 25 years ago and its actual site is in Kluang where Ho Seong Chang, former MCA Youth deputy head and PS of Min of Consumer Affairs is the former MP. It is also very near to Ayer Itam where MCA youth secreatary Wee Ka Seong is the MP.
I am more furious as there are more and more politicians from MCA , and Gerakan started intruding to various religious and Chinese base organisations forthe sake controlling these organisation for whatever obvious reasons u may guess.
So, REJECT MCA and GERAKAN to the last drop of our sweat.
There will NO LOSS on our part whether u have or not those people in the cabinet.

This is BN’s message “You have to decide if you want a louder voice in Parliament or representation in the Cabinet where they can be more effective in representing all communitiesâ€.
This is the poser to Non Malay minority communities in general but to Malaysian Chinese in particular they are told that if they voted for the DAP, they would end up not having any representation in the government. It is couched in terms of a dilemma posed, and a veiled threat delivered…. The Chinese in particular are generally practical in approach and such a poser is calculated to have effect on them. (We are further advised that the MCA needed 30 seats to have a strong voice in government).
On the eve of election I ask Non Malay minority voters to search their hearts and find your mettle.
We have had already 50 years experience in “representation†in government and if that had been meaningful, would it have been necessary to present the poser today, the eve of election????
The representation we have had is a representation of matters such as getting approvals for additional Chinese schools, classrooms, some funds for development of Chinese new villages, and a few Public Services Department (JPA) scholarships for Chinese students….I repeat what I said before that these educational concessions are what Malaysians of whatever racial origins are minimally entitled, as of right in the first place for which no special gratitude ought to be demanded from or reciprocated to that facilitator, the MCA!
As regards fundamental issues that matter – issues that makes one feel one still has a place under the Malaysian Sun and issues of fundamental constitutional rights that make one feels one still has a rightful place as equal citizen – these are the issues that truly count, and that which many feel there is under representation or no representation at all by the communal parties that hold claim to the contrary……
To argue that there is such representation just because some privileged members of one’s own community enjoy the patronage of some not so important, critical and powerful ministerial or deputy ministerial posts, and, as a price for that, have to whisper their communities’ case in muted tones behind closed doors, the outcome of which thereafter is entirely dependent on the so called magnanimity of the patron – and not what counts as right or wrong, fair or not fair – that is but a mere “symbolic and tokenâ€, some say sham, rather than real representation.
When people get satisfied by something with that which is symbolic weityhout grasp for the real, then they are not clever, destined to be manipulated as slaves….
If you have the intelligence and could find your pride, you will reject such carrot of illusory representation structured around form than substance. You would opt to roar like a hungry lion in Parliament than cringe like a dog just so you could be served some crummy dog’s food!
After all what is parliament for if not to allow one’s voice to be heard in its august chambers loud and clear especially on issues pertaining to national interest?
Aren’t we told, never often enough, that the nation is larger than race, national interest greater than community’s interest ???
If that were the case then we should have a louder voice in parliament to debate about these than still appeal to narrow communal sentiments of communal “representation in government†in exchange for vote that after 50 years we should have transcended.
Let me just say this – meaningful representation of political interest is, for all Malaysians a birthright. It should not be traded like some chip on some political power sharing formula that we could have only if we give our vote and support to some incumbent political party. It is a condition set that no free and right thinking people can honorably accept – this farce of an obselescent BN power sharing formula.
Unless one still accepts and believes in this 50 year old BN power sharing formula – this is realy the crux of the issue – in a dilemma of Representation or Voice, I would cast the vote for Voice!

Anwar Ibrahim predicted today the opposition is poised to deny the ruling coalition an outright two-thirds majority in the March 8 elections.
Anwar said reports from various sources, including independent polling agencies and even the “intelligence” community, show the opposition could win more than one third of the parliamentary seats up for grabs.

Hope what Anwar said is going to be true come 9th March 2008!
This is important election if we dont deny them 2/3 they will change the constitution as they are allowed to change it every 8 years if they are in power.
Imagine if they change the constitution if they have the 2/3 majority, it will be harder for us to deny them in the future again. So vote wisely as the opposition didn’t ask to rule the country but just denying the 2/3 will do!
So let’s stop them from getting 2/3 ! Vote opposition ! For for a better Malaysia !
#164 by ALtPJK on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 12:09 pm
Right on, Jeffrey.
This is the very same message we get election after election for the last 39 years and non-Malay minorities fell for it everytime. And the result is:
There was NO strong Opposition in Parliament to provide the necessary check and balance, to force the government to act justly, to prevent the numerous amendments to the Federal Constitution to take away our fundamental rights and freedom and to ensure that the policies of the government were just and fair.
About the BN’s message “You have to decide if you want a louder voice in Parliament or representation in the Cabinet where they can be more effective in representing all communitiesâ€, it is not about effective in representing all communities anymore.
It should now be about us ensuring that the next government does not get too arrogant so as to perpetuate self-serving agendas.

Hi
Can anyone explain how my brother who has registered and voted in Damansra Utama has his new voting area in KOTA BAHRU for Parliament and KOTA LAMA for state seat? Anyone have such strange shift of voting constituents. Only found out when he got the brochure from BN and PAS
In an age where Malaysia boasts of MSC, best IT infrastructure and Election Commission using hitech computers to compile electroal rolls how can we have duplicate names, phantom votes blah2 and rely on jurassaic technology to provide free paint jobs on people’s fingers (what a waste it’s not being used now). Can DAP highlight such transfer of names to powers to be-my brother has never been to Kelantan!!! Thank My GOD (I can’t rely on the constitutional GOD) i still voting in my same area.!!!

#168 by limkamput on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 12:21 pm
Well said Jeffrey. For too long the non-Malays communities have been trading short term expediency for long term misery. That so-called representation in the cabinet and government is meaningless now. I would prefer more voices in the Parliament highlighting issues across racial line, providing checks and balances, reducing abuse of power and bring greater accountability in public service. We have one day left to decide.
#169 by AhPek on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 12:22 pm
Jeffrey,
Sure, what you say perfectly makes sense amongst most if not all commenters here. These are the converted and most likely it is not going to make any difference to the outcome tomorrow. The ordinary run-of-the-mill Chinese is probably not aware of your type of ‘meaningful’ representation and big noise (if more opposition comes in) in Parliment probably also means trouble in the streets (trouble created by police) which is no good for business.
This is Malaysia a country which is so mired in race politics that we find ourselves in shit street without a shovel today. The BN has become an expert in exploiting this issue which is exactly why Pak Lah is issuing this subtle threat about non representation for the Chinese in government is MCA is booted out by the Chinese community. He has even chosen to forgot that he did say that he is PM for all MALAYSIANS.
How to counter that mindset? To me this is the crux of the problem and countering this is not chicken feed at all.Perhaps we can all help DAP in our own little ways by trying to influence those around us and make tomorrow a good day out for DAP.
#170 by lakshy on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 12:40 pm
AAB looks like he is bankrupt of ideas. What a wimp! What does he mean by threatening Malaysians? You threaten your own rakyat this way? Are you a sincere Malaysian then? Look Dato’ Seri AAB, didn’t you just recently say that you are not a PM for Malays only, but a PM for all Malaysians? Were you sleeping when you said that?
And by the way the MIC and MCA have not done much for Indians and Chinese. The MIC and MCA have got scraps that umno has thrown at them like they would throw to the dogs. And these cheapskates have greedily lapped up these scraps. So no, its no loss to us if we vote them out.
I remember them getting together to issue some memo to you, to voice concerns about Islamisation, but they chickened out after being chewed out by some junior umno minister. And you call these representatives of Indians and Chinese? Holy cow, these clown jesters seem to have forgotten that they are descendents of peoples with greater cultural and educational and historical lineage.
What can your Semi Value do when the temples are being broken in his presence under the instructions of littel napoleons? And some of these temples are plder than our constitution and only because your napoleons refuse to grant them titles, they are being demolished. And that is in direct violation of what is stated in the Constitution. You cannot take away what is already there for the Indians and Chinese.
So no, those clowns from MIC, Gerakan and MCA in your cabinet, are just that, clowns. They dont represent us.
And if you say you wont look after us, then we dont have any respect for you. For a start, I wont vote for you or any of your clowns. Kapish DS AAB?
Oh by the way, lets see how long you can last when all of us for whom you have declared you are not the leader, do not pay taxes!
Makkal Sakti!
#171 by lakshy on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 12:45 pm
In fact the thing to do would be to deny bn a simple majority and place them in opposition with DS AAB as the opposition leader. Since you threaten us all, we will show you what we the rakyat want. We want bn in opposition. Cheers!
We dont want to just deny you a 2/3rds majority. We want you to spend time as the opposition. That will give you more maturity, and learn to respect the opposition and the rakyat. You seem to have forgotten who your boss is. Its the rakyat la you dumbo!
Go back to school and learn.

#173 by ktteokt on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 12:49 pm
After half a century of independence, BN is still in its infancy stage, refusing to grow up and face the real world. It is trying to hide itself in its nutshell and “enjoy” itself, acting in the most childish ways.
What MCA is claiming this GE is even more ridiculous! It is telling the Chinese that it would be advisable to have MCA “fight” for rights in the government. What is there to “fight” for? Isn’t MCA part of the government? So why should it be fighting for anything? This is of course true only if MCA is not at par with UMNO in BN. If at all there is a need to “fight”, MCA should leave BN and become part of the opposition as it is “opposing” the policies of UMNO!!!!
#174 by galaxy on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 12:50 pm
Has MCA represented the interest of the Chinese? Has MIC represented the interest of the Indians? Has UMNO treated them as equal partners in the BN coalition? If no, then, what is the difference whether they are in BN or not?

I went to Singapore about 2 weeks ago and as i was passing thru the immigration that day, I told the officer who was stamping my passport that they’re very lucky to be Singaporean.
The two malay officer smiled and said, “Yes! we are Singaporean”.
They didn’t even mention that they were Singaporean malays.

What is meaning of representation in the government when even the non-Malay BN parties leaders can’t even do anything in Parliament and Cabinet that represent their respective minority communities interests’ voices, after they were given a clear mandate in 2004?
All the non-Malay BN parties leaders, if they wanted to do something for their communities, if at all they do it, had to resorted to begging from their master, UMNO. Representation in govenment is one thing, DOING something for the communities without fear or favour is another thing. Their representation in Parliament and government after 2004 is like they have not represent their respective communities at all. They have all being silence when UMNO had done something that is adverse to minority communities, minority communities rights have been taken away and all they do are sitting in Parliament and Cabinet keeping quiet that you can hear a pint drop waiting for the DAP and other oppositions to do or say something.
Even if some brave non-Malay leaders did said something that publicly incrimninate the wrongdoings of their political master, they all either been shot down, disciplined and threatened by words and actions by their political master.
There are tons of examples to this.
Is this what they meant by representation in Cabinet and Parliament? It should be representation of a bunch dogs and cowards in Parliament and Cabinet waiting instructions from their political master with the KERISes in their hands.
#178 by NotProudToBeMalaysian on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 1:24 pm
Leaders of MCA,Gerakan,MIC or others component parties have to support the present ruling party even if they were to betray their forefathers.
Just because of the benefits they get.
Gerakan was an opposition before and I’m sure they knew that very well.
What I don’t get is…, why are there still many others who do not get anything, running around supporting someone who is not doing things right.
Maybe, these are the whole lot who needs to suffer in order to learn.
#179 by boh-liao on Friday, 7 March 2008 - 1:31 pm
What’s the point of having MCA, MIC, and Gerakan politicans elected into the BN government?
Mahathir told us all: S Samy Vellu stifled Indian voices. Samy Vellu did not ask for assistance for Indians. The problem is that SV is preventing other Indians from having a say. SV never said that the Malays were committing genocide and ethnic cleansing. SV never said that. Why didn’t Samy Vellu say that?
We are sure Mahathir could have told us the same thing about MCA and Gerakan politicians, who are only interested in looking after their own interests rather than the interests of all Malaysians.
Make sure NONE of MCA, Gerakan, and MIC politicians get elected into our parliament and the various state legislative assemblies!!
Take a new broom to the polling station tomorrow (8.3.08): SWEEP, SWEEP, SWEEP!

I do apologize for my lack of knowledge on international law but can we not contest the law allowing armies to vote by post at the international court? THis is a form of “discrimination” given malaysians who are overseas are not allowed such privileged. Everyone can only hope for tomorrow’s results unless everyone does not think with their emotions but think for our future generations and vote for the oppositions. Give the oppositions a chance to run the country. It won’t harm the country for a 4 years’ term. As it is, the country’s condition has not seen significant improvement over the past 50 years.

BN should leave its milk bottle and baby walker aside and try to grow up. After being established for half a century, which is a long time, it is still unable to stand on its two feet.
