Mahathir has come full circle – from an ultra back again to an ultra repudiating Bangsa Malaysia and Vision 2020

Two events held almost simultaneously today highlighted the two facets in the battle for the hearts and minds of Malaysians – the launching of neo-NEP Perkasa by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at PWTC and the launching of Datuk Zaid Ibrahim’s book “I, too, am a Malay” (Chinese edition) by Dr. Chen Man Hin in Subang Jaya.

Almost at the same time that the former Prime Minister was awarded the Bintang Perkasa Pribumi Negara after launching Perkasa, Dr. Chen formally launched Zaid book.

What a sharp contrast in the imageries evoked in the two events – the launching of Zaid’s book invoking an inclusive and all-embracing hopes of all Malaysians for a progressive, prosperous common future regardless of race, religion or region with the launching of Perkasa anchored in a hankering for the past, oblivious of 52-years of nation-building, even dismissive of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia concept, all to allow Umno-putras to perpetuate the abuses of NEP by exploiting the name of bumiputras.

As the press have contacted me for my reactions to the Perkasa launch and its inflammatory speeches, this is my preliminary response until I have full access to the speeches concerned.

From the incendiary speech of the Perkasa President, Datuk Ibrahim Ali, it is clear that Perkasa is built on stilts of lies.

It is a lie that DAP and the Malaysian Malaysia slogan were among the main factors that caused the May 13 riots.

Has Ibrahim Ali taken 41 years after the 1969 tragedy to make this “discovery”.

If DAP and Malaysian Malaysia were the causes of May 13 in 1969, DAP would have been banned long ago and DAP leaders would have languished in jail and unable to participate in Malaysian electoral politics in the past nine general elections.

Or is Ibrahim suggesting that the Special Branch and the past five Prime Ministers had been remiss in their national duties in failing to take action against DAP, which he alleged as a threat to national security and perpetrator of May 13 riots?

It is a lie that the DAP is against the Malays, Islam and wants to do away with the Malay Rulers.

In the seventies, Ibrahim frantically sought my help as Parliamentary Opposition Leader when he was trying to escape detention under the Internal Security Act for his activities as a student leader.

Why sought my help if DAP leaders were so anti-national and disloyal as he now wants to depict?

Ibrahim Ali is not important. What concerns me more is the patronage given to the neo-NEP Perkasa by Mahathir.

Mahathir has come full circle, from an ultra back again to an ultra – repudiating Bangsa Malaysia and Vision 2020 which he enunciated in 1991.

This is the greatest tragedy.

Perkasa should serve as a strong reminder to all non-bumis in Malaysia of the true intention of UMNO and BN, that is “ketuanan melayu”. Any non-bumi who vote for UMNO and BN is directly voting for “ketuanan melayu” and is therefore betraying all non-bumis. The world must come to know what is truly happening in Malaysia i.e. it is an apartheid regime controlled by racist and corrupt UMNO.

I think Manoharan is talking through his ass. It is precisely we have non Malay leaders like this that is making Perkasa becoming more popular. Look Manoharan, not just Malays will not support Uthayakumar, I also WILL NOT support a racist fanatic like him. PR will have more trouable with people like him. Mahathir has no scruples, no conscience, no ethics, no morality, no HUMAN HEART.
In other words he is what I call Satan in human form.

The Malays were/are in total control of the reins of power. They have abused it with impunity. Mahathir did it for 22 years.
UMNO fooled the Malays into making them think that they being ‘defenseless and eak’ needed UMNO’s protection.
In return UMNO sought their unquestioning loyalty.
They gave it without thinking and their wealth were all snatched up by the UMNO putras.

The poor Malays are still poor. Why? Because UMNO failed them.
    Perkasa and Mahathir,
Look at yourselves you idiots. It’s you, you, you ho made Malays poor.
Not we who made the Malays into what they are today.
This Indian turned Malay is a threat to this country.

Ibrahim Ali is not sincere. He works for a Chinese tycoon, owns share in a gambling company and yet, dares champion for the Malays. I believe Ibrahim Ali is trying to revive his political fortune through Perkasa. Before he can do that, he must first make himself popular. His followers including Tun Dr. M have been made a fool by him – they are unaware they have been made use of.

Hi Ong Tee Keat and Koh TSu Koon, where are you? If Ibrahim Ali can make himself famous within 1 or 2 years, how come you two cannot make yourselves popular after spending decades in BN?

///In his opening speech, Dr Mahathir said the sudden mushrooming of Malay non-governmental organisations reflected Umno’s weakness in defending the rights of the Malays.

He added that NGOs like Perkasa will cease to exist when Umno regains its strength to defend the rights of the Malays.///

NGOs like Perkasa would not exist if not for the instigation of NEWMalays.

Ibrahim Ali said that Malays should have 67% of the wealth in the country. He should first check the percentage of NEWMalays among the so-called Malays, and their correspomding share of wealth owned between the two groups.

The government claims that the target of 30% share of equity owned by Malays has not been reached. Now IbrahimAli wants 67%. Is Ibrahim Ali convinced that the figure quoted by ASLI in 2006 was correct, and now wants to move the post?
By demanding the share of wealth to that of the population Ibrahim Ali is propagating communist ideology based on race? Is UMNO sincere to their coalition partners that as soon as the target set for NEP is achieved, it would be discontinued? Or is Ibrahim Ali setting the stage for the government to continue NEP for another hundred years, to reach 99% of wealth owned by Malays based on the population share then?

Perkasa would most likely live as long as Mamakthir. We hope Perkasa has a short live.

Whatever good deed Mamakteh had done for the country has been erased by his extreme racialism again reminding the people of his more than 2 decades of suppression under his regime and he has now found his successor in Ibrahim. Clearly they have only their own agenda and not really for the benefit of the people. They are supposed to be in the elite class and knowing very well that there is no short cut to success and no such thing as “free lunch”. Yet they mislead the people by their selfish and radical schemes to amass great fortunes sufficient for their generations to come, living in luxury at the expense of the rest of the people. This holocaust should stop so that there will be racial harmony and continued prosperity for all malaysians and make 1 Malaysia a success.

  37. #37 by Bigjoe on Sunday, 28 March 2010 - 9:17 am

When Mahathir came to power, most people thought he would take the NEP/ketuanan melayu to a radical level and marginalised the Chinese. What nobody understood was the Mahathir, as part of his corrupted rise to power, had always coopeisrated with non-Malays businessmen/agents because those partners/agents were more reliable in terms of his corrupted activities.

When he got into power, he inherited a situation where the country finances were not in good shape and because there was few Malay businessmen he could rely on, he had to turn to the non-Malays for business cooperation AND for his corruption that fueled his stay in power. At no time did he CHOSE to cooperate with the non-Malays.

So its no so much that he returned to ultraism, but rather his true natured is fully revealed finally. This is Mahathir, he thinks Ketuanan Melayu is a right and necessity no matter what the injustice, lack of real basis is.

Its not new, Hitler behaved the same way on his rise to power and even in the beginning of WWII, Hitler still talked as if he was correcting an injustice and doing Europe a favour.

What must be remembered is this, in the end, their ideas cannot win. The ideas are for the desperate and greedy and while there are many like that, most of us are not and will never be. Because most of us do not agree with them, so long as their true self is revealed and put in the public, they will lose. Their power is over those are ignorant, those who are apthetic, don’t care than those that agree with them.

It is no conincidence that the first thing Mahathir speak about is to ban discussion of racism because he knows it cannot be defended publicly if revealed and bared all to see. Its their worst nightmare for people to be aware of the truth of racism and in particular THEIR racism.

So the point is so long as the truth is out in the open, we should never fear the likes of Perkasa BUT hidding the truth is what we should be more concern about. Not their message.

Perkasa should think hard and ask themselves For t the following questions, so are all fellow Malaysian:-

He has been the PM for Malaysia for the pass 22 years and he was the UMNO head for the past 22 years.

After 22 years of glory in Malaysian politic and today he told Malaysian that the Malay has been rob by the Chinese and the Chinese was the main reason for the Malay remain behind all others. Then what has he done during the last 22 years as UMNO head and the PM of Malaysia? The Malay could not become poor and remain behind just after he left politic and retire as PM? It must have been that he as not done enough during his last 22 years. Or he was the main culprit as he has been staying too long and he was the one he condone with the rampant corruptions?

NEP by its original was good but it was he and his cronies during the past 22 years who has hike jet the NEP and instead of helping to help Malay to be competitive all it has done was all moneys has go to UMNO members and their cronies.

It was he who has work with the Chinese Taukey and get all the feed back from them and these are the people who has contribute to his political fund to gather his supports.

If Perkasa want to blame hw the who should be blame as he was the longest serving PM in Malaysia and yet only now he say Malay has been behind and poor?

This explained why after his so call retirement from politic he still can not let go easily especially when the new leaders expose his short coming during his 22 years rules.

It was very unfortunate that he was ruled by his ego at this stage and along the way he inflict the most damage to Malaysian politic land scape.

It will be best he retired at his Country home and play the grand father rule but he could not because of his ego especially when people criticize him. When UMNO deserted him by rule that he himself implemented during his tenure as UMNO head he was furious and this explain why he chose to tact along with PERKASA which given him the platform to whack his anger at his UMNO fellows. Sometimes I just don’t understand the logic of Uthayakumar. For 50 years the Indians played racial politics and they ended up losers. Now, he wants to do the same, inciting the Indians to fanatical level and condemning the PR for no good reason. If Indians’ votes are split resulting in BN regaining Hulu Langat, I say let it be. Indians deserve to be treated like idiots. They just simply do not know how to fight as Malaysians – about equal opportunities and advancement etc. Instead, it is only Indian temples and Tamil schools that they are concerned with (never mind there are probably less than ten students in each school and most of students got nowhere after studying in those schools). Now if we blame the Malay leaders for keeping the Malays backward and dependent, I think Hindraf and HRP are also doing the same. Human Right Party my ass – I can’t imagine a person having gone to Kamunting can be so naïve and a real novice in politics. Sometimes I think this country is cursed. Before we even have a viable two parties system, we have fanatics like Uthayakumar and his gang trying their level best to destroy everything.

“Ibrahim Ali is not important. What concerns me more is the patronage given to the neo-NEP Perkasa by Mahathir” – YB Kit.

It is only appropriate that Perkasa’s inaugural congress be given patronage by Tun Dr Mahathir (TDM). This is because they share the same political platform – bogeyman politics.

The bogeyman is a fictional character. When parents want to make their children behave appropriately to their designs, they frighten them by saying that if they are naughty the bogeyman will get them. So by creating the DAP/Non Malay Bogeyman out of fear, the idea is to win advocates amongst Malay constitutency and then both unite and turn these advocates into an army of brainwashed people to attack anyone (whether from Opposition or the Ruling Coalition) intending to change the existing order from all (NEP patronage system) that the Mahathir legacy is identified with.

I think any reaction by way of engagement, rationalising and rebuttal of their racial messages is a waste of time. It is playing into their hands. They will use your reaction to drive up further fears of the bogeyman. The best reaction is indifference. This is because something irrelevant deserves indifference – not attention or reaction.

I don’t see why patronage given to the neo-NEP Perkasa by Mahathir is important. To say that it is concedes that both Mahathir and his brand of politics is still important. This is highly questionable premise.

The standard bearer of communal politics is UMNO but even UMNO Youth is (since the time of Badawi until now) rather muted compared to Perkasa’s or Mahathir’s rhetorics. The latter is till making incendiary speeches of how Malays are losing out and non Malays are ungrateful and forgetful of the Social Contract. Thats old story. Its like flogging a dead horse. The message is intended to create fear – to justify the NEP patronage system and protect those with vested interests in it – but the greatest enemy of fear is the truth, and the truth (market realities and the country’s economic future on which the real interest of majority Malays repose) has been acknowledged by even the UMNO president who told regional fund managers in Hong Kong he had to make a choice “between the market and the people” and that “under the weight of global competitiveness and liberal markets, Malaysia has no choice but to open up and reform. Nevertheless, once the old subsidies and privileges are removed, many people would begin to feel offended.”

Even the HRH sultan of Selangor would not officiate Perkasa’s inaugural congress. CEOs of GLCs invited to attend also took a rain check. Even Zulkifli Nordin was notably absent. That shows the relevance of this platform. Beating the chest on Ketuanan has not helped UMNO in preserving two third parliamentary majority in 12th Malaysian GE and unlikely to be able to do so for the 13th.

If it were still relevant, would UMNO allow Perkasa/Mahathir to upstage it in this regard (especially when Perkasa/Mahathir’s thrust is that UMNO is chickening out in preserving their constituency’s privileges/rights?)

    Kuty craves attention.
Kuty is extremely jealous of Harri.

Harri is regarded as a statesman worldwide and gets constant global attention.
Kutty is nothing but a can of worm (shelf life expired) in his own kampong.

Kuty is so jealous of Harri he has lost his mind. Kuty will do anything to attract attention.

Kutty is nothing but some nuisance.

Pondering pretty hard why malays despite knowing well that Mamakthir,Ibrahim and the likes have repeately cheated them but still allow these mad men to use them as shelter. On this same note,Umnoputras and Umno too have used malays and islam for more than a decade as shelters to protect its own interest and the interest of its cronies. But here again, how come the malays especially the kampong folks continue to give these bad guys safe passage in every election. I think it’s about time good guy like Zaid Ibrahim should travel to all malay’s heart land to wake them up and help them to tear down this shelter and to ensuring they march forward to a new beginning of a malay race who could succeed without depending on the “tongkat” I wish PR/Zaid every success.

///…UMNO president who told regional fund managers in Hong Kong he had to make a choice “between the market and the people” and that “under the weight of global competitiveness and liberal markets, Malaysia has no choice but to open up and reform….///

That statement only justifies the urgency of reform. Even without the question of competitiveness, NEP should not remain forever when it was meant to be implemented for twenty years only. It is an unfair set of policy that leads to polarization and divison of the people based on religion, used as a basis to determine who are the endangered species and thus entitled to rob the nation. Article 153 was intended for 15 years and subject to review, from 1957. The natives of Sabah and Sarawak are protected under the same article. But are the natives of Sabah and Sarawak treated equally like the Malays in Peninsular? The NEWMalays, mainly those Muslims from India and Pakistan who married Malays women are more Malays than Malays. Indeed only Ibrahim Ali was not aware, or pretends not to, that Mamaks have hijacked all wealth meant for Malays, and they alone acount for more than 30% of Malays equity share. If Ibrahim Ali was really interested in helping the poor Malays, he should not have the movement associated with Mamathir, the father of the richest Malay. Mamakthir said that only after his retirement did he son attain his wealth. Mamakthir thought that only toddles care.

If Ibrahim Ali is really interested in the welfare of the poor Malays, he should do two things. Get the defitinition of Malay amended to exclude Mamaks, and get Malays to vote the corrupt regime out of power.

But Ibrahim Ali is not capable of the above. He is just a hopless racist and hoping that the sunset-racist would help him retain his position as MP.

The scumbag that is the fourth PM is both senile & selfish to boot. He finds himself no longer being featured in the daily news. So this is his sick approach to gaining back attention from the press both locally & internationally.

He is a megalomaniac alright! After wasting funds on the white elephants which ONLY gets him some infamous attention from the international media, he is now doing an encore. No more power to waste huge amount of funds now this is his sick trick instead. All rakyat must chastise and wish him ill for his “sickness”.

Muhyiddin ask the government to update data of wealth distribution among the rich in the country to see whether or not malays grab everything in the country.Bear in mind that wealth can come from hard works, strategic planning and habits of careful spending like the late respected Lim Goh Tong of Giant Genting.

Chinese and Indians use their brains and muscles to generate wealth, while others depend on NEP, hand-out, begging, robbing, cheating, and what not. Shame.

Speaking while officiating the inaugural Perkasa general meeting Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed had the gumption to tell PM Najib to listen to the voice of Perkasa and other Malay NGOs.

These NGOs called for the preservation of the Internal Security Act (ISA). They also called for the government to change all bumiputera-to-non-bumiputera quotas to 90:10, or at least based on the country’s ethnic composition, 67:37.

To listen to the NGOs, as TDM directed, means to oppose reforms/change.

It means to put “1 Malaysia” “NEM” or the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) in the back burner if not jettison these altogether.

Then not only Mahathir has come “full circle”. UMNO too. It would be going back to the point where it all first started (during Mahathir’s ascendancy to power in early 1980s).

  63. #63 by ReformMalaysia on Sunday, 28 March 2010 - 7:05 pm

This PERKASA is actually an UMNO proxy…. UMNO try to win non-Malay votes so try to look like more friendly to non-Malay….. But the still work behind the scene through PERKASA….So the 1MALAYSIA slogan is actually just another Sandiwara by UMNO

Good cops and bad cops, and perkasa is allowed to show that UMNO could be worse when Muhyuddin takes over.

1Malaysia is just a slogan. UMNO does not intend to change because it allows racist groups to spread hatred. It has readmitted mamakthir to prove that UMNO could remain extreme like mammak used to be.

Pakatan Rakyat should not let itself being put into a corner by Perkasa’s & Umno-BN’s manipulative propaganda that is based on ethnic origin and faith which has been designed to garner more support and votes from the people.
Pakatan Rakyat should show that good and proper governance of the state governments they currently administer as an example of how we Malaysians can move forward as compared to the increasingly inefficient & corrupt way the Umno-BN still wants to do things.
Pakatan Rakyat has to prove to the rakyat that what is now threatening to bring the our beloved nation down goes further than just the politics ethnic origin and faith as espoused by the ideologies of Umno-BN & Perkasa.

What circle, UMNO has never left the dot. It is a dual track strategy – PM playing as an inclusive guy and DPM playing a racist guy. They are just waiting for the storm to be over so that they can go back to stealing, pilfering and robbing. Ya, i am sure some of you have just read about the toll road study. Let me tell you this: the toll will never b e reduced or reviewed so long as this government is still in power. I am as sure as the night following the day.

DPM is now talking about wealth distribution. Let me remind this nincompoop that it does not matter who own how many percent of the wealth. It is how the wealth was generated and obtained. I simply can’t rationalise a group of tribal leaders so greedy, so uncivilised and so barbaric in wanting to have good life without working for it.

Yes….full circle he did rotate..round and round he goes…twisting and turning …but always back to the same circle….of the dirtiest politics he can cooked up with…to keep signaling to Najib…he is still his boss…the man in charge of him…..or else….
Yes…Mahathir is the devil reincarnated…and so are all UMNO BARU political members.
The present devil ….Najib..is caught between the supporting his god-father…and the deep blue sea to be thrown in…and get eaten by ….his own kind of sharks.
Yes…”1 Malaysia” ..no way for Mahathir.
The devil have spoken…with all sorts of twisting….sickening interpretations..of Malaysia Malaysian…only racists and crooks keep thinking.. they can talk like than and keep fooling Malays…to stay as Malays…stay as the owner of the country and all others are guests and second class citizens.
22 years were governed by the devil….because he used money to buy loyalties and souls….by the billions…each year..for 22 years….making hs own sons…filthy rich…with no fear nor shame at all.

So the MCA internal saga at least will be temporarily resolved. Predictions of continue fight is overstated. So what is next?

Frankly, it now falls on Sdr. Lim to take CSL on. No one else can. CSL is a workhorse of a leader. But even a workhorse can be worn down and its up to Sdr. Lim to lead a bunch of young turks to take CSL and MCA down. While the sex scandal is fair game, that is not what have to pinned on CSL – they key is to target the likes of Perkasa – demand that CSL get UMNO/BN to cut off/disown ties to Perkasa – nothing else is acceptable. If he is so good a leader – work on that. Otherwise, he is just old school – old ways, good but still old – for the young, there is nothing there for them. If he can’t win the young voters, MCA is still finished anyway. Get the young voters to convince their parents its time to change. His generation created the problems they have to clean it up or its a burden to the next – look at MCA younger leaders – they are hopeless. CSL and his generation made it that way..

Perkasa, like mamak during sleepy head’s time, will bring both jib and umno down. We have mamak to thank for 308. And we shall be thanking perkasa after GE 13. Wise umnoputras would want to distance themsevles from those blood sucking and screaming good-for-nothing vampires.

And look. Didnt they claim overwhelming support of the malays? But I dont remember seeing any news report on that for the saturday launch of the first blood-sucker general meeting. If their claim was proven to contain an ounce of truth it would be good enough to set utusan into a screaming frenzy! No. Quite the contrary. Instead I read loads of explanations by them on why certain prominent people did not turn up although they were invited.

You see. Perkasa made three glaring mistakes. They must be blind or dumb or plain stupid to have committed them. Wrong time. Wrong tone. Wrong ideas. These are what perkasa represents.

Silly fools. They did not realise that gullible malays exist only in the middle of last centuary. And oh that no brainer exhibition of raised nerves in one’s neck is so totally unnecessary and so totally out of tune with today’s reality tv-show generation of young people. Bush junior exhibited it too when he mounted the horse to the “war on terror”. And what was bush fighting? Yes. Some imaginary WMD-weilding monsters. Familiar? And that keris thingy again. Boy. Boy. Boy. Common chua. Zip up. Hide your banana. Its time you show them the chinese dadao.

I believe cintanegara, kasim and chengho cried on saturday during the launch of perkasa.

I believe its not Perkasa racism we have to worry about but their stand on ISA and law and order. They not only want to defend the ISA, they want to defend the corrupt and broken institutions such as the police, MACC and judiciary. Let them scream all the racism they want but bait them and attack them on the ISA, the police and judiciary.

The non-malays came back and worked hard to develop this country and helped the UMNOputra Malays as what they are today. The dirty “kachang lupu kuli: bunch of people with no shame asking for more.
