Anwar a traitor?

By Hussein Hamid

If like Anwar I am call a traitor for denouncing UMNO as failing to defend the special rights of the Malays and the Monarchy then let me stand beside Anwar and be a traitor.

UMNO defending the rights of the Monarchy? Was it not your President Mahathir who stripped away the legal privileges of the Sultans – the hereditary and cultural symbols of the Malays? The Sultans to whom we all go for protection against political and administrative excesses? And then you all have the audacity to put yourself on the same level as we had once had placed the Sultans on – but this time giving the Malays no access to protection from the excesses you have indulged in and now continue to indulge at the expense of the Malays? I did not hear of any Sultan taking Ringgit $500 million for services rendered. I did not hear of Sultans using the Police to impose their will upon the Malays. I did not hear of Sultans blowing up foreign nationals. I did not hear of Sultans willing to allow the Malays to suffer economically as they do in Kelantan, just because the people in that state choose to have, as their government, a party that is not UMNO.

And you call us traitors to the Malay cause? Are the people in Kelantan not Malays?

If they question Anwar’s sincerity for not raising the matter when he was in power then I too am not sincere because I was once one of those that look upon UMNO as our savior and never did denounce UMNO until now.

If what I say now shows disrespect to the Malays then I rather do this then to sit quietly while our Malay leaders enrich themselves through greed and corruption – as they continue to do today. If I am guilty of showing disrespect to these Malay leaders – so be it , I plead guilty as charged.

It is because I am sick to my stomach of UMNO leaders and their cronies taking, taking and taking for themselves what is rightfully for the Malays that they say they have been championing that I now stand up and point my finger at them and say to myself that if anything, I have been guilty of keeping quiet..because I, like Anwar, have had hopes that the aspirations of the Malay would have taken precedent over the greed of our leaders.

UMNO is greed. UMNO is deceit. UMNO is dishonor. You Muhyiddin, You Najib, you Khir Toyo, you Mahathir, You Daem, …and so many other UMNO cohorts have brought dishonor to UMNO and shame to us Malays. You dare call Anwar a traitor. Then call me one to.

There was a time when we had to expose the goings on in the award of tenders, privatization deals, projects failure…to make the people understand your misdeed while in power – NOT ANYMORE – that UMNO has become a bloated, corrupt and sleazy organization is a given fact – a fait accompli – a fact realized or accomplished – a decided fact – now days we can say that in your face and your leaders and past Presidents have accepted it as FACTS. Let me say it again – it is a given fact that UMNO is corrupt. Whether Anwar and me are traitors is still to be decided!!

Our worry is this. Now that you know that you will lose the next GE – what will you do to win it? Or should the question be what will you NOT do to win the next GE. Murder most foul. You have done it. Giving Ringgit 500 million for ‘services rendered’ to your running dog? You have done it. Using the ISA indiscriminately separating our leaders from their loves one? You have done it. I can name any evil under the sun and you have done it. UMNO through its leaders, have done it…and you dare to call me and Anwar traitors for speaking up? I can only shake my head in disbelief when trying to work out what is that you will NOT do? But this we pledge…whatever you do, do not think that you will be able to make us go away…. Never. We will be your worst nightmare – not money, not your might, not you threats not your gifts will deter us from doing the right thing. We will keep our anger until the next General Elections.

Muhyiddin’s words merely emphasized that UMNO is a racist party.

    Anwar a traitor?

No, he’s just a waiter. He waits and waits until all momentum and advantages are gone and the tide turns against him.

Or waits till everyone grows old and feeble.

Imagine going to the streets at 75 with a tongkat and croak “Reformasi”. Yeah. That will shake them.

DSAI not traitor la, he was only very ambitious politically. I mean at the opening of the Penang UMNO building he said he pledged his allegiance to DrM but then already had a nice DrM crony list prepared but was caught off guard when DrM fired the first salvo.

Then this non-traitor who was in the position as DPM did not make any noise to bring about changes to Malaysia but now claims UMBO/BN are all useless (of course they all are anyways).

Then this non-traitor who was Education Minister says we need to make Malay the No. 1 language and English was choked. I remember Bahasa Baku.

Then this non-traitor decides that he will make friends with PAS, LKS and Karpal Singh when he used to slam the heck out of them.

Then this non-traitor did not say anything when Ops Lallang was executed.

Then this non-traitor was keen to work with IMF back in ’98.

The list goes on and on and on …

I wonder what else this non-traitor will do? Hmmmm …

Would a champion of the Malaysian Cause for all communities or 1 Malaysia Concept (if assuming it is embracive of the Malaysian Cause) be automatically, by definition, a traitor of a sectional/communal (say) Malay Cause, according to Muhyiddin’s argument???

Just look at how desperate Muhyiddin is. They claim that they r loyal to the country, wants the country to prosper, and rakyat to live happily but now they r stroking the racial issue. Looks like they r willing to sacrify the country racial unity for their own interest to maintain themselves in power and continue plunder the country treasure chest. Looks like they r fighting for their own survival, as if the opposition comes to power, UMNO will lose everything, and tons on corruption cases, abuse of power, mandatory rape, murdered, putting the country into danger of a racial riots will be levied against them. UMNO now is like an injure wild animal trying desperately using whatever weapon available to protect themselves. They have forgot their Islamic teaching, their faith, their ajaran allah dan hadith. They fitnah, menghasut, menghina dan menunjuk sifat tidak hormat kepada negara.

Tidak sedarkah Melayu sedang dihina? — Utusan Malaysia

OGOS 4 — Sekali lagi segelintir orang Melayu menjadi ‘kuda tunggangan’ pihak tertentu. Sekali lagi Melayu ditipu kerana mahu memenuhi perjuangan kaum lain.

I refer to this article in Malaysian Insider and the above The Malays are cowards, says Utusan…..Sorry, I don’t think this is an issue of Malay, Chinese or Indian. U can see that the majority of the protestor at Dataran Merdeka is Malays. We as a rakyat r fed up with UMNO multimillionares dan billionaires Adun, EXCO, Menteri, besar, ketua-ketua bahagian dan cawangan. All this r monies due to the Malays race but u all (UMNO people) manipulate it to your benefit. How selfish & notorous u r. U awindled our monies and blame it to the non Malays. U incite race hatred and blame it to the non Malays. How cruel r u all(UMNO) to make the other race your sacrificial lamp. your religious commiment, your religous belief. It is a fight between 2 political party PAS and UMNO for the Malay votes. As a responsible newspaper Utusan should not be stroking all this racial sentiment and urging the Malays to fight against the non malays. We are a peaceful nation, we do not want a repeat of May 13 incident to happen. What we want is something like USA, UK or other developed country style of administration…. more transparency, integrity and accountability

wifeejane … does not matter is 400+ Malays were arrested, 3 Indians only and 2 Chinese only. Bluff the rest who were not there, make the rest of the Malays feel insecure. This has been done many times by BN before GEs. Always works back then so they think it will always work la …

UMNO has been in power for too long and is now unable to differentiate between loyalty to king and country and to party,

Jaswant I thnk UMNO or BN or PR are suppose to be loyal to the nation, i.e. the Rakyat. Hence, they are known as WAKIL RAKYAT too.

Umno, MCA, Gerakan and all the other component parties of BN are the traitors to Malaysians. BN has been robbing the wealth of Malaysians by making the ISA,OSA and other repressive laws as its shields to protect their rights to rob, to deprive the wealth of Malaysians.

I intend to ask Muhyiddin a question on why he was not appointed as MB of Johor, surely he knows the reason.
