Malaysia in post-14th General Election is facing the most toxic and vicious politicking in the nation’s history.
If Malaysian politics was as toxic and vicious in the past as now, my LLB (Hons) degree would have been raised as an issue – in the way that Pakatan Harapan leaders, whether Minister or Deputy Minister, are now being questioned about their academic qualifications, whether with or without basis.
I must thank my lucky stars that I was not questioned about my LL.B. (Hons) degree and asked to prove my credentials, as it would be quite a bother to do so – as I do not know where is my LL.B. (Hons) certificate.
It is not that lies and falsehoods had not been employed at all in Malaysian politics in the past, but we have never plumbed so low a depth as after the post-14th General Election.
Why is this so?
This is because the “great” parties of the past, UMNO, MCA, Gerakan and PAS, which had bestrode the political landscape in the country for decades, are now fighting a battle of survival after being decimated or suffered unprecedented electoral setbacks in the 14th General Election.
Why for instance is the MCA President, Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, so active and busy, firing at multiple targets daily?
The answer is simple – to distract public attention from at least four questions he had been running away from in the past few months, viz:
· Firstly, the untold story of the MCA Ministers and leaders betraying the nation in aiding and abetting the greatest crime in the history of Malaysia, turning Malaysia into a global kleptocracy not only with the monstrous 1MDB corruption, embezzlement and money-laundering scandal but also other 1MDB-like scandals in Felda, Felcra, MARA and Tabung Haji;
· Secondly, MCA hypocrisy as exposed by the Acting UMNO President, Mohamad Hasan, that no Barisan Nasional Supreme Council had been held thus far because MCA was afraid that journalists would pressure the party on a resolution to dissolve Barisann Nasional.
· Thirdly, MCA’s support for political co-operation with PAS although PAS under its President Datuk Seri Hadi Awang is practising the most vicious and toxic politics of lies, hate, fear, race and religion to sow suspicion, distrust and hatred among races and religions in Malaysia; and
· Fourthly, admitting that he would have lost his deposit in the Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat in the 14th General Election under Hadi’s dictum that Muslims must vote for Muslim candidates.
Wee’s position in Parliament today is one of the greatest parliamentary frauds in Malaysian parliamentary history.
Who does Wee represent in Parliament – UMNO or PAS? Or both?
Is this the reason why he dared not criticise UMNO or PAS, whether about their position about kleptocracy and the 1MDB scandal or for practising the most vicious and toxic politics of lies, fear, hate, race and religion to create suspicion, distrust, fear and hatred among the races and religions?
From a statement from a MCA spokeswoman yesterday, it is shocking to see MCA emerging as the only political party to defend the kleptocratic government before the 14th General Election – when both UMNO and PAS had kept a discreet distance and silence on the kleptocratic government of the past.
I said that the politics lies, hate, fear, race and religion is not a new phenomenon in Malaysian politics or I would not have become the most demonized person in Malaysian politics for the past half a century.
If all the lies told about me were true, I must be among the richest, the most powerful and most remarkable persons in human history.
I had been accused of being a communist, in fact, a relative of Chin Peng; responsible for the May 13, 1969 riots, leading the street demonstrations in Kuala Lumpur shouting anti-Malay and anti-Islam slogans although I was never in Kuala Lumpur after the May 10, 1969 General Election; painted as quite a devil, a puaka, even jembalang; that I am anti-Malay, anti-Islam and at various times even anti-Indian, anti-Chinese educated Chinese , anti-English-educated Chinese; an agent of KGB, CIA, MI6 and even Australian Intelligence.
Before the 14th General Election, such toxic politics alleged that I will be the Prime Minister of Malaysia if Pakatan Harapan wins the polls. When such lies and falsehoods were proved wrong after May 9, 2018 new lies and falsehoods were manufactured to allege that I am the real power in the Pakatan Harapan government in Putrajaya and that Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Anwar Ibrahim, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Mohamad Sabu were merely my stooges and puppets.
New baseless allegations were constantly concocted and manufactured after the 14th General Election – that I am conspiring to get appointed into the Cabinet, and in the Cameron Highlands by-election, I was accused of saying that the Orang Asli in Malaysia are not citizens of Malaysia and a message was zapped through WhatsApp, viz:
“Lim Kit Siang mengusulkan didlm Dewan Rakyat supaya perkataan Islam Dan Melayu digugurkan dlm Perlembagaan.”
These were all downright lies as there is no basis of any truth in them at all.
New lies to sow hate and fear to polarise the races and religions will be peddled in the upcoming Semenyih by-election, and a new lie about the DAP which is now being peddled on the social media makes the following allegation:
Inilah agenda mereka.”
Malaysians, whether Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans, Ibans or Orang
Asli must develop a sceptical and cynical attitude to the messages they receive on social media, whether Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Whatsapp, to ask the important question with regard to every message, “Is this true”, and to check on the veracity of the message before sharing it with the others.
If Malaysians, whether Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans, Ibans or Orang Asli develop such a healthy attitude of scepticism and cynicism to check on the veracity of each and every message, they will not fall victim to the vicious and toxic politics of lies, hate, fear, race and religion perpetrated by UMNO, PAS or MCA!
Malaysia would have won a great battle in the Information Age where information travels at the speed of light.
