Has Najib crossed the Rubicon on the 1MDB scandal without realising it?

Has former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, crossed the Rubicon on the 1MDB scandal without realising it?

Until today, Najib has maintained a very consistent stand that there is nothing basically wrong with 1MDB which could not be put right, but with the apology to the people of Malaysia by Goldman Sachs chief executive officer David Solomon who said Malaysia was defrauded by numerous individuals, including the highest members of the prior government, Najib has changed his tune.

Najib crossed the Rubicon when he as good as admitted that the 1MDB scandal, which caused Malaysia to be condemned by the world as a global kleptocracy, was a national catastrophe but maintained that the blame for the 1MDB scandal cannot be pinned on a single individual but was a systemic failure.

Most ironically in Cameron Highlands, where he was on a Barisan Nasional by-election campaign trail, Najib said: “It just cannot be one man, it is a systemic failure”.

Najib blamed Goldman Sachs for failing in its task despite the exorbitant fee paid for the bank’s service.

Wasn’t it Najib who approved the “exorbitant fee” for Goldman Sachs to hide from the world the “systemic failure” which enabled the commission of the heinous and monstrous 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal which landed Malaysia with the infamy and ignominy of a global kleptocracy?

Although Najib had “crossed the Rubicon” and admitted that 1MDB is a national catastrophe, I do not know whether he is going to “uncross the Rubicon” by denying that he made such an admission.

Or is he going to make a clean breast and confession about the monstrous 1MDB scandal during the Cameron Highlands by-election , sharing with Malaysians the deepest and darkest secrets of the 1MDB scandal, together with a confession of his special relationship with the other mastermind of the 1MDB scandal, financier and fugitive from justice, Jho Low?

It is Greek justice that at Najib’s Cameron Highlands by-election outing today, where he tried to make great play over the term “kena kencing”, Najib was victim of “kena kencing” not by somebody else, but by himself.

1MDB is only now half the story. We need to verify these reports of conspiracy with China to mega projects. Its treason. Its a matter of not just national importance, its regional and global. All China must be made to understand its unacceptable behaviour. The time to stop it and punish them is now, not avoided, not later. The line has to be drawn in the sand clearly.

And Najib, Rosmah hanged for it of course.
