To everyone who thought that Sodomy II is the case of opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim versus his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan – you got it wrong.

Sodomy II is Umno versus Anwar. Saiful is just the pawn who played his part and after the first stage of the plan to jail Anwar was accomplished, the next stage and the rest of the stages were taken care of by Umno.

Everyone in the team against Anwar – the police, doctors, chemist and judges – are government servants appointed by the arms of the Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN) government. Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah was also under the government’s payroll. So could they really be fair and independent?

We have witnessed a concerted effort during the trial of the Altantuya murder case that no one asked the duo Sirul Azhar Umar and Azilah Hadri who gave the order to kill and get the motive of the murder despite knowing that they were paid to kill.

Similarly the whole exercise in the Sodomy II trial, everyone wanted to make sure that every event, evidence, person and witness involved, no matter what, must lead to the jailing of Anwar.

Of course 16 points of the DNA were needed to show how tedious and stringent the court in Malaysia was before giving the verdict. But to say the 16 points were detectable is questionable given its source, the condition it was kept and the integrity of the DNA itself.

Of course the Umno-BN has all the resources to find a specialist to support the evidence; but, this advantage is simply unfair.

The source of the DNA could be planted or the police who took the said Anwar’s toothbrush when he was in jail earlier could have lied because we all know that the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) has lost its integrity! PDRM has made many blunders and there has been political interference within the force.

Besides, who has really seen the sample and really witnessed the analysis? How trustworthy was the chemist?

As a result of corrupt image and bad reputation of the Umno-BN government, the whole team is questionable.

The carpet was found in another room and not at the place when the said sodomy took place could be planted too. The person entrusted to put the carpet could simply have put it at the wrong place – that’s why it was misplaced!

How come when Saiful went to the private hospital (Pusrawi), no evidence was traced and when he went to the government hospital they found conclusive evidence? This is indeed fishy!

Then, if this was just the case between Saiful versus Anwar, why did the Umno-BN government had so much interest in it? They had to bring in Shafee! Why is the Umno-BN government so concerned?

If the Umno-BN government is indeed so caring about the citizen, why not provide similar help for the rest of the citizens. Why so selective?

If this is not the case of Umno versus Anwar, why must there be a need to further clarify and justify the verdict? Why must Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin organise roadshows to explain the issues. Why must Shafee organise a dialog to explain his case?

If it is just Saiful versus Anwar, there is no need for hue and cry. – February 18, 2015.
