BN on the defensive in first week of Parliament

We have just ended the first week of Parliament and we see the Barisan Nasional in total defensive, unable to give a proper and satisfactory accounting of the many burning issues in the country resulting in the continuous erosion of public confidence in the credibility, integrity and legitimacy of Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The 25-minute ruckus at the start of the first day in Parliament on 15th June following the swearing-in of the PAS MP for Bukit Gantang, Datuk Seri Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin, when he shocked everyone with loud and righteous cries of “Hidup Rakyat. Bubar DUN” served one important purpose – to focus national attention on the most shameful episode in the 52-year history of Malaysian parliamentary history, the unethical, undemocratic, illegal and unconstitutional power grab in Perak based on three “political frogs” who had to hide from the public for fear of popular condemnation for more than four-hand-a-half months!

I confess I was shocked when Nizar, in the podium of the House, shouted “Hidup Rakyat. Bubar DUN” with his raised fist, as I had not expected him to do that, but I was pleasantly shocked, as he had highlighted the deep-seated feelings of all Malaysians concerned about justice and democracy.

In the first week of Parliament, neither the ministerial nor parliamentary teams of Barisan Nasional was able to take the offensive, as they could not give credible or acceptable accounts on all the burning issues of the day, whether:

  • The undemocratic and illegal power grab in Perak;
  • The RM12.5 billion Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal, made worse with the Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, absconding to Paris to avoid parliamentary accounting;
  • Public cynicism over the “1Malaysia. People First. Performance Now” slogan of Prime Minister Najib, with daily examples reducing it to a joke – like the “annual begging session” with SPM top-scorers denied PSD scholarships despite the government claim that 20% or 400 places out of 2,000 foreign scholarships would be allocated strictly on meritocracy;
  • Failure of the two RM67 billion economic stimulus packages;
  • Rampant crime with Malaysians never so unsafe in the country since Merdeka in 1957, and yet with police more concerned with protecting the political interests of the Barisan Nasional, stretching police resources to harass Pakatan Rakyat leaders and NGO activists instead of catching criminals and reducing crime.

The defensive mode of Barisan Nasional in the first week of Parliament is added reason why Najib should seek a motion of confidence to buttress his credibility, integrity and legitimacy as Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Many are baffled and puzzled why the Prime Minister is suddenly raising the subject of “Barisan Nasional-Pakatan Rakyat unity government” talks when earlier it was all about “Umno-Pas unity government” talks.

We are all Malaysians and there is no reason why we cannot sit down to talk about issues concerning the people and nation but to talk about “BN-PR unity government” talks is more than premature.

Let the BN and PR parties sit down to talk about the burning issues I had mentioned just now: the undemocratic coup d’etat in Perak; a Royal Commission of Inquiry into the RM12.5 billion PKFZ scandal; how to make Najib’s slogan “1Malaysia. People First. Performance Now” really meaningfully; how to unite Malaysians to successfully face the worst global crisis in a century and transform Malaysia into a high-income developed nation; make Malaysia safe for its citizens, tourists and investors; eradicate corruption, etc.

If we cannot even sit down to talk about these burning issues to find solutions to them, any talk of “BN-PR unity government” is utterly unrealistic.

    Just ignore Najib, the fake. He is not even a liar. He is the lie. He will be the one to destroy the country.

    I see…now is… “1 Malaysia. People First. Performance Now”.
    Mathatir’s slogan was “Clean Trustworthy and Efficient”
    Why not debate on the 22 years under Mamak.
    But those supported it for 22 years …to be….”Corrupted to the Core….Dictatorship…Lies and Deceits”
    At least Dollah did keep his promise to flush out corruptions….but look at the slow space and where are the big fishes?……al for show….not real jail sentences ….postpone and postpone…and if UMNO wins 13th GE…all cases thrown out.
    Now they at…will loose votes..
    30 years gone….and Najib is actually saying…”forget the past..lets move on….here is my slogan”.
    How many more such idiotic stunts do we need to endure?
    Malaysian Malaysia..so simple for unity….yet Najib must prove his English is much better.”People First”…what people?
    You see……more than few thousands are termed excellently…as
    “people”.
    So that sly fox did not clearly say.what people……Malay people only?
    Using the word…”Malaysians” is committed to all people of all races. Why can’t he be clear as crystal? Why play with words?
    So you go…and listen to this established liar and sly fox.
    I got better things to do…but must explain la…or else young voters can be conned by him.
    Now they can judge my explanations ….to judge for themselves.
    Do not simply believe….THINK!!

    I laughed when I read the gomen response to the questions on why JJ was being considered for the post of Ambassador to the US. They never bothered to answer the questions at all – just sweep everything under the carpet with a non-response.

    They are deaf and dumb to questions they cannot answer.
    They are actors……and divert attentions….saying not important…let move on…forward.
    But in actual .it is like a crab…with big eye balls.. .watching..moving side ways…never forward.
    I think thieves copy movements from crabs alot.

    About four and half months ago, I bought a bitch for RM25 million. She had gone into hiding. The people of Perak do not bother to look for her.

    On the spur of the moment, Nizar voiced the feelings of the Perakians and the “ugly” incident in the state assembly. Nizar did not even know why he did that. The impulse and the thrusting movement of force deep down in his heart was so great. It was a natural act.

    Any form of unity government between BN and PR would be a blow to the trust and faith that the supporters of PR had placed in the coalition.

    Why are DAP and PKR men so neutral about the unity talks? About wanting to discuss this and understand that first etc?

    Any unity government will be a terrible blow to voter rights! It means a return to the days when decisions are made without public knowledge in backroom dealings between leaders of the various component parties. And where the rakyat is constant assured that the party knew best what to do and not to demand full public disclosure of how decisions were made.

    PKR and DAP leadership should come out outright and reject any idea of unity government between PR and BN.

    So easy….catch the UMNO crabs and caged them.
    People love eating crabs…but some species cannot be eaten.
    The crabs we are talking about are UMNO crablike characters.
    Do you understand the differences?
